Cast of Characters: | Natasha Romanoff, Tim Drake, Kate Kane, Jacen Knight, Cinque Evers
|
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
SHIELD had many different places that equipment was stashed. The organization, the culmination of several different intelligence and military agencies from the last several decades, threw away nothing as did almost all bureaucratic institutions. Many materials were considered lower priority to keep security with and of low threat. This lead to some cost cutting. One of such locations was on the general outskirts of Gotham. Just one more array of warehouses, owned by a company that did abandoned luggage from airports. Things that weren't sold at auction. Even in Gotham there was little interest in thousands upon thousands of cheap carry-ons, polyester shirts, and millions of tubes of toothpaste. Security was generally plainclothes officers and workers. Far enough from the city to avoid the heavy crime areas, close enough that in the event of a fight reinforcements could quickly be deployed from bases. It's main defense was how low key it was rather than combat teams on alert. For decades, it had worked and accumulated more warehouses in the area as even more things were brought in, sorted by an ancient paper catalogue system that had never been digitized, maintained by some less than sane academics and part timers who were the only ones that could navigate things.
Today, however, these low key security measures were going to prove insufficient as seemingly from out of nowhere during an unscheduled delivery several trucks had suddenly deployed a massive swell of Hydra troopers in armored cars. Gunfire had quickly cut down the agents in the front, distress calls and cell phones jammed, only a couple of agents rapidly digging out ham radios to put out calls for aid as the front doors were blasted in.
- Tim Drake has posed:
<< Red Robin, en route to a report of gunfire in the Docks. >> a youthful voice crackles over the Bat-Comm. << Batcave, I need to know who's shooting, what they're shooting at, and why. Preferably before I'm on the scene. >> Red Robin adds, his custom red Batcycle weaving through traffic at high speed, cape stretched fully in the wind behind him.
When the reply comes, courtesy of Batgirl's network of spy drones, Red Robin is just a block away. He parks the motorcycle, then uses a grapnel to gain the high ground before laying eyes on the scene of the crime. "HYDRA?" Tim asks of nobody in particular, whispering to himself. "What are they here for?"
Quickly, he uses his lenses HUD system to tag all those wearing the HYDRA uniforms and firing at the plain-clothes guards. It's only then that the ham radio chatter is patched through to him, calling for help. No worries. Red Robin is here.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate's voice comes over the comes to Tim at that point, << Robin, it's Batwoman. Looks like they're hitting an old SHIELD warehouse that's supposedly derelict, according to my old DIA files. If they're hitting it with anything heavy, there must be something there they want. >> There's a brief pause, along with the revving a motorcycle in the background of the comlink as Batwoman is weaving through traffic while she talks, multitasking effortlessly as she heads towards Tim's location.
<< You're ten minutes away. I'll be there in two. >> With that, there's a distinct roar as Red Knight One kicks it up another notch, rocketing down the Gotham streets to get to Tim's location on the Docks.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
There's heavy gunfire coming from outside as plain clothes agents and workers try to throw down behind whatever cover they can. However, wtih light weapons against heavy enemy troopers in power armor and energy weapons, it does rather poorly. The entrance to the facility is breached quickly as the defenders are cut down in numbers, having to fall back as Hydra troops break through on multiple fronts. More messages are going out in code along the ham radio requesting backup before the messages stop entirely - a sign that the sender had been incapacitated.
The sound of weapons fire is slacking down which is a bad thing. For those Bats arriving, they're seeing Hydra troopers using the armored vehicles to setup a cordon and starting to deploy turrets from them.
- Tim Drake has posed:
Tim pulls a couple of pellets out of his utility belt, throwing them out near the heavy weapons setups. << Batwoman! I'm glad I'm not alone here, they're setting up some big guns. I'm going to obscure their vision and distract them. >> he suggests, just as the pellets pop into massive amounts of smoke each.
Using that smoke, Red Robin zips overhead from roof to lamp post to another lamp post, lowering himself with his cape out to slow his fall. Taking the staff handle from behind his back, he extends it to staff-length, going immediately for the legs of the people who were getting ready to pull the trigger on the guns. Taking them off their feet, they're met with the other end of the staff, bonking them on the head and against the pavement in quick succession.
Now there's only two more mooks for each gun that's been set up. Easy work!
- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman rockets into the scene with a definite lack of subtlety, which considering the situation seems rather appropriate. << Got it, Robin. Going high with some thermite presents for them. >> With that, she rounds the corner, jumping off the motorcycle and letting the autopilot take over on the bike, the momentum and her cape letting her get airborne as an impromptu glider. Not that she's going to be airborne for long...
But she doesn't need to be, as she tosses thermite at the nearest turrets that were being setup, the explosives making quick work of those as she dives in and lands in the midst of Tim's smokecloud, vanishing from view as she gets ready to do some more serious work. << Good work on the cloud, Robin. How many did you count? >>
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Heavy energy weapons fire greets them as the Hydra soldiers blast out at them. There's a few swears over amongst them as several are droppeda nd most of their heavy turrets also go down. There's a few switches amongst them before their fire starts up against, this time a lot more accurate when they'd just had the smoke bombs blasted. That meant they had sensors built into their systems - probably UV, which let them see past the smoke. And was a lot more difficult to block than the standard infrared night vision.
But most of the heavy vehicles were down, which meant they were stuck in place unless they ahd reinforcements. As the Bats go to melee, they're also making out a lot of bodies. Several dozen. With plasma shot right through them. Many of which had gone down on their stomachs.
Inside the building through the smoke they could see boxes of crates. Hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of them in stacks, numbers up on the walls like they were arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System
- Tim Drake has posed:
<< Three on each turret, you took out two turrets and I took out two gunners. Leaving me with four guys. >> Tim reports as he sidesteps one mook's lunge, knocking that one in the back of the head like a bullfighter who's gotten into billiards trickshots. << Make that three. >>
Seeing that the remainder of Hydra goons have drawn their energy weapons on him, Red Robin draws a few suspiciously non-batlike Batarangs from his utility belt, throwing them at the dominant hands of two shooters. As they yelp and drop their guns, Robin is sliding along the ground, propelled by his staff, going feet-first at the remaining armed assailant. Springing back to his feet, Robin brings the staff around, hooking it between the guy's legs and pulling back in, tripping the guy flat onto the ground.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Kate tosses her batarangs out to disarm the mooks coming at her, as she does have distinctly bat-like batarangs... though hers have a decidedly unique flair all their own with some red trim. Still, they do the job as they hit the hands of the shooters aiming at her, causing them to drop their guns.
Just in time for Batwoman to arrive with a flying kick, knocking one back as powered armor or not, there's definitely a thing with momentum. Then she whips out a baton-looking device from her utility belt, snapping it out with a crackle of electricity and slamming it into the chest of the other disarmed power-armor wearer. The armor promptly short circuits and drops to the ground in a heap of motionless metal, and Batwoman looks at Red Robin, "With all the Amazos I was having to deal with a few months ago, worked these up. Pretty good at dealing with most robots or power armor types." With that, she tosses a similar baton over to Red Robin.
"Ready to do some work?"
- Jacen Knight has posed:
Not that Gotham is an ideal place to go for time off, Jacen is driving through the city after having worked in the hospital on the ambulance the last three days. On his way home, what could go wrong?
How is he so lucky that he is driving in the area of the SHIELD storage facility when it is getting hit by HYDRA? Maybe he should buy a lottery ticket or something.
The sound of the weapons being discharged causes a string of curses as he pulls off the road and shuts his truck down. He pulls on his hat and grabs an emergency pack from the back seat. He locks it down and heads towards the sounds as stealthy as a cowboy in Gotham city can be.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The varied arsenal of 'rangs thrown out by the duo are quick to take out anyone in reach, as heavy blaster fire slackens now as the Hydra troopers are starting to fall back inside with most of their external heavy equipment ruined and several of them dropped, the weapons being rather useful against them. They're withdrawing inwards, with the intent of setting up a crossfire to catch any pursuit, their own grenades being flung back. Far nastier replies than the ones the Bats were using. A mix of high explosive and plasma grenades with wide blast radiuses. The type that just being in the general vicinity of would be crippling.
Good thing for the Bats with this being a massive storage warehouse that there's plenty of room to maneuver in. The sounds of gunfire further along is a sign that there are some survivors, at least. But plasma fire deeper wihtin is a sign that they're pinned down and Hydra's near to whatever they're after.
- Tim Drake has posed:
Red Robin spins his staff around 180 degrees, smacking one mook in the shin and the other in the calf. He straightens himself up in time to catch the baton, jabbing both it and his staff into the chests of the fallen goons.
Robin looks around, his lenses switching between vision modes rapidly. << They're moving in on the warehouse.. And we have an unknown on approach. >> Robin's already clocked the truck and its driver stopping and.. attempting a closer look? Photography major?
Running quickly towards the warehouse, Robin takes full advantage of the new stun baton along with the fact that he's got the drop on all the HYDRA soldiers as they're so laser-focused on their objective, he can simply pick one off and drag them into the shadows cast by the overhead lights. And he does so, a few times over, until all soldiers have another in their peripheral vision. At least he's thinned the herd a bit.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman hrms, "Well, new arrival isn't likely to be HYDRA, so we'll not worry about him. Just watch the grenades!" She clearly spotted the presents that HYDRA left for the Bats as she goes high and around, circumventing the most obvious paths in true Bat-family fashion as she goes quiet. Stealth being one of the things that Kate is best at, even for one of the Bats.
Then there's a sudden burst of electricity from the shock baton Batwoman has as she emerges from the shadows near the Last Stand of the SHIELD agents, disabling another power armor wielder as she goes to work on the group there, aiming to distract them so SHIELD can either punch out or make a break for it. And hoping that the new arrival is not, actually, with HYDRA. As that could make things pretty bad...
- Jacen Knight has posed:
Gunfire and chaos. Good times. Jacen produces something akin to a badge of sorts and clips it to his belt. Not obvious, but definately ID for some sort of organization. Closing distance to the building, he tucks the emergency bag behind a few trash cans for now. Might be he will need it soon, but for now it is out of the way.
Reaching into a pouch on his belt, he produces a piece of animal horn. For those with spirit sight, a spectral prong horn deer appears before him and races into the ether, vanishing. He runs towards the building at a speed decidedly too fast for a guy this size. Not the Flash fast, but faster than a professional athlete. He ducks into a door after a quick peek around the frame.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Jacen make make out the remnants of several Hydra armored assault vehicles and damaged and destroyed turrets, and several downed troopers in power armor. However, some of them are starting to hum again as backup systems kick in and some of them are rebooting and repowering on auxiliaries. If the Hydra troopers can get just a few of them conscious then they can try and pincer the rescuers inside - and get some of the vehicles going to bug out with them. Neither's going to end well as the troopers are starting to pick their way up.
Inside, a rough gunbattle is going on as the few SHIELD Agents and archivists left are ducking behind any cover whatsoever - other than the crates left in stacks (which is a good thing, just being mostly wood and useless against plasma fire). Pistol shots however do nothing but occasionally ricochet off power armor and impact crates, knocking off chunks of wood to reveal partial contents within.
Batwoman's charging in with stun batons is extremely effective. Her weapons are powerful enough to breach through the suit's electronics even if not completely inapaciate them, but she's left badly slowing a trooper with each strike, leaving them vulnerable to followups.
Red Robin's hit and run tactics draw more fire up towards the ceiling, energy pulses blasting through it as lights go out and electric shorts out. There's enough of a breaker system here that when there seems to be threat of a power overload everything immediately goes into full shutdown to prevnet fires. They're slowing the Hydra advance considerably, but there's still plenty of troopers. Grenades are hurled towards the final cluster of SHIELD Agents still fighting back as they scramble to get out of the way, scattering.
- Tim Drake has posed:
Incapacitating goons is markedly slower work than running at a warehouse, and as Tim beats down another pair of mooks, he looks at the fast man passing by. << He didn't attack me, but he's coming into the warehouse fast. I'm still on the fence. >> Robin reports to Batwoman.
As the scene grows darker, Tim switches his lenses to night vision. He's running into the front layer now, less worried about stragglers in the dark. These are the power-armored frontline soldiers, as Tim finds out when he's smacking them in the shins only to be met with a metallic thunk, rather than screams of pain. Immediately switching stances, Tim collapses his staff and switches his weapons around from one hand to the other, jabbing one soldier with the HYDRA prod forcefully and throwing both legs back at the other as he closes in. The distance and the incapacitated mook beside him give Tim the time he needs to scramble back to his feet, cockily tossing the baton back and forth between his left and right hands, the staff tucked back behind his back again.
<< Do we have eyes on what they're after, yet? >>

Now Cinque was holed up inside the facility, engaged in what could only be described as a last stand. But when a fourth lunged at him, he improvised. Grabbing a fire extinguisher off the wall, he swung it with all his strength. The heavy steel connected with a sickening crunch, shattering the agent?s leg and sending him sprawling to the ground.

- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman sweeps the leg on the slowed power armor trooper, knocking them down to the ground and taking their energy rifle. Because, really, fair is fair as she takes the rifle and aims at some of the other power armored soldiers, firing at them to make /them/ fall back. After all, they have armor so the shots aren't exactly lethal.
Besides, she does have her military training, so she does have pretty good marksmanship with a rifle as it is. She does speak into the coms to Robin, "Not yet, but I'm trying to get the pressure off the SHIELD folks to ask." Though now that the HYDRA agents are finding themselves in a crossfire, maybe they'll be under enough pressure to fall back themselves. At least, that's hopefully the plan.
- Jacen Knight has posed:
Studying the area for a moment, Jacen lets another curse hiss through his teeth. He reaches up and touches the necklace of teeth and release the pronghorn's power. A moment later, a spectral bear appears in the void before him, roaring in silent defiance.
Rolling his neck once he focuses on the nearest power armor. He studies it for a moment, then grabs it and wrenches from the ground like a champion wrestler and then throws it head first towards another armor.
Rather than make himself a stationary target, he rolls away from the area. Nothing all gymnastic as much as hitting the ground with the throw and coming back up to his feet looking at the nearest problems the way a cowboy thrown off a bull looks for the bull to gauge the animal's intent. Be aware of the potential of other dangers. Know the surroundings.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Robin goes to move to enter CQC. His attacks are brutal and effective, quickly taking out anyone that's dumb enough to be at close range with him. These Hydra troopers are apparently some of those rare ones that won't try and open fire onto their own comrades engaged in fighting in the hopes of taking out their adversaries, but also likely killing their own comrades in the process. There's none of the normal chants of 'Hail Hydra' either coming from them even as the rough fighting goes forwards.
The issue of figuring out what they're after is going to be hard to figure out amongst the thousands of crates and no signs of computers. Only the archivists could possibly know where anything was, and inventory was probably on some yellowing rolodex or filing cabinet. Ultimate job security, like the one guy in the office that knew how to fix the fax machine from the 1960's that management wouldn't get rid of.
Cinque is pinned down along with anyone else in his general area, two agents pulling away some of their injured. One man is bleeding badly with a plasma burst that had gone clear through his torso as another desperately tries to stop the blood coming out of him. The man's young - barely older than Robin. One of the archivists, a man long since gone grey takes a look down at the kid and shakes his head and presses the agent away that's trying to desperately stop it. "Get back to the line." It's an order from an authority figure that the kid takes and does automatically. The old man looks down at the agent who's been shot through the body, is in shock, and has had one lung turned to ash. The old man looks down at him quickly, draws out a pen-knife, and softly slits his throat before pulling his eyes closed. Then going bcak to the fight snapping out pistol shots.
Cinque darts through the enemy, managing to find those troopers that were vulnerable to ICER shots and take them down. The attack is starting to stall out now with the defensive line hardening even with few survivors left, and the Bats brutally taking them from behind.
Batwoman clearly knows more about the rifles than the Hydra troopers using them. And how to aimt hem. Her shots are brutal and precise, taking out joints, power packs, sensors, and leaving anyone in them completely unable to move and injured. Not dead, but short of taking a power saw to them they weren't gonig to be getting out of the armor and doing anything anytime soon. The fight inside is turning into a three piece melee as Robin and Cinque sandwich those rushing in, Kate snipes off anyone in her view, and on the outside Jacen goes to just throw down anyone, the cowboy all but lassoing them and yanking them down. The exterior area is now clear, and anyone that might have gottne up isn't going to. Jacen clearly missed his calling as a luchador in another world.
- Tim Drake has posed:
Tim glances at Cinque, taking note of the ICER working like a charm. Good, that means he can hold on to the baton for a while longer. Red Robin retrieves his staff, holding a thumb on one end when he extends it, essentially providing him with a second baton. One that doesn't shock, but it'll do wonders for the mooks without power armor. "How many of these guys -are- there?" he asks, in less of a whisper, but with the amount of volume control that shows combat fatigue is coming soon. He's not trained like Damian, or a gym rat like Jason. He's never struck out on his own like Dick, not fully.
Pushing past that first feeling of tiredness, Tim strikes out left and right, occasionally hitting an unarmored HYDRA goon with the zap stick, and hitting a power armored goon in the back of the knees with his regular baton. Thick layer of metal or not, those strikes still hurt, as do the ones to the back of the neck when they've gone down.
- Cinque Evers has posed:
As Cinque dives behind another shelf, the symphony of apathy from the chaos around him becomes almost deafening. The scattered screams, muffled gunfire, and relentless thud of boots echo through the cavernous storage facility. His mind sharpens, processing the data from the unfolding battle. It doesn't take long to calculate: the odds of Hydra successfully taking over the facility are uncomfortably high.
Many nights reviewing Hydra tactics and a few missions against Hydra tell him this isn?t a simple raid. Hydra rarely stages attacks and afterwards the cloak their operations in explosions, fires, anything to keep SHIELD distracted while they enact their true plans.
Cinque decides the logical course of action is to retreat.. He ducks further into the shadows, weaving his way away from the battle. His objective is clear now: uncover what Hydra is really after.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman, meanwhile, might be a bit older than Tim, but she's also the one that's decided to go with sniping with the energy rifle that the HYDRA agent 'donated' to her. But she also never skips gym day, either, as she keeps firing shots with wicked and merciless precision, "Come on, Robin, you know HYDRA's motto..."
She pauses, then adds, "Wait, though. If they are HYDRA, why is it one skull with a bunch of tentacles. Shouldn't it be a bunch of skulls with one tentacle? Do they not know what a hydra actually /is/?" Apparently it's the part of the fight where random quipping occurs, as Kate picks off a random power generator on an armored soldier, causing them to freeze and collapse in a heap.
- Jacen Knight has posed:
Pushing his hat back a little, Jacen checks the area one last time and then turns to go into the building proper. He mutters softly as he steps in,"Really gotta start carryin' a gun." Looking around the edge of the door, he makes sure he can get inside safely.
Not ready to engage straight away, Jacen makes his way to an area that is more or less secure. Once he is confident he has a few seconds, he reaches up and touches the feather in his hat band. While he doesn't release the bear's energy, he does draw the power of a spirit eagle. It flies out from before him and into the building. He takes the time to get a feel for the entire building as the eagle shows him the area without needing to go room to room.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Cinque's in a good position with the rest of the defenders as he moves about. Hydra troopers have fairly standard tactics - SHIELD knows thier entire playbook. So Cinque's able to backtrack over on it as he finds several of the troopers using leapfrog cover tactics to dart forwards in fireteams. They would advance, spray energy bolts behind them to pin down pursuit, then quickly go along forwards. They're going towards old looking boxes that had OSS markings on them. That would narrow things down to WW2 or the early 1950's. Right around when Hydra was formed. They were definitely -after- those.
Tim and Kate have pretty much taken out everyone around them. There's only a few more outside now that the sound of someone fighting outside sounds like that area's pretty well handled as well. Anyone left is pretty much immobilized and won't be going anywhere anytime soon or spread out enough that they're not a threat. There are a few SHIELD Agents desperately trying to do first aid on the worst injuried wtih clearly inadequate medical supplies now as the senior archivist is popping off shots iwth an incredibly old looking pistol - for historical afficionados, a Webley - the standard British handgun for field officers. the semantics for the mythological inaccuracy of what a Hydra was was a discussion probably that would go nowhere with the cultists, but might make for fun academic pursuit later.
Jacen gets his way into the building, all he's having to do is kick anyone that looks like they might be moving over on the back of the head to keep them down, perhpas grabbing up a bigger gun if he wanted while he was on his way. Jacen's powers let him make out the view of the entire fight - as well as giving him a sense of -what- Hydra was after that they sent so many heavily armored troops in after. A glowing series of three heavy crates marked with OSS Symbols on them with more writing on them in German.
- Tim Drake has posed:
"Do you think these guys know they're the tentacles?" Red Robin replies to Batwoman's observation. "Because if -my- bosses decided I was a tentacle that'll just regrow when cut off, I'd quit." As the fighting dies down, and Tim goes to check on wounded, he pipes up once more. "Maybe their original logo was one tentacle at the top with two skulls under it, and HYDRA Human Resources shot the idea down."
Noticing gunshots that don't sound anything like a standard-issue sidearm, Tim takes a closer look. That man is wielding a revolver that was the standard-issue over 100 years ago. Tim knows this, because he's A) a big history nerd, and B) has played Battlefield video games before. "I've never seen one of those in real life.." he muses.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman sees where the remaining HYDRA troops are advancing, and comes up on them from behind. She doesn't bother giving any sort of warning, instead going for shots in their backs, since, well, if they aren't going to check-six, they deserve what they get. And she's not that much of a field medic, so taking care of whoever is left is the best way to finish off what's going on here.
"Yeah, if there's one thing more evil than HYDRA, it'd be HYDRA HR." After a few well-placed shots, she ahems, growling out in her Intimidating Bat-Tone, "SURRENDER NOW!" to the remaining HYDRA mooks. And if they don't... well, she still has plenty of charge in the energy rifle to shoot them with.
- Jacen Knight has posed:
Considering the layout and deciding what the best way to the concentrated area is, Jacen releases the bear and reaches out to once again call upon the power of the pronghorn deer. Someone comes close and before he makes his next move he grabs the HYDRA agent and throws him the same way he did the power armors before. The wall isn't forgiving.
Nodding to himself, he races towards the area that is being focused on. He does grab a rifle on the run, but merely smashes the butt of it into the head of a HYDRA trooper on his way. He slows when he sees Batwoman and then comes to a stop. He settles the rifle into a proper grip, but keeps the barrel pointing up for now.
- Cinque Evers has posed:
"Hydra has found what they?re after. We need all escape routes secured, now," Cinque calls over the comms, hoping someone, anyone, is listening.
Following the rules of engagment, Cinque begins to fire on the Hydra agents in attempt to make sure that this is the last spot of Earth that they breathe. As the fight rages, Cinque pushes forward, weaving through the cover of crates and scattered debris. His powers of multitasking allowing him to also focus to the rows of old, dusty boxes stamped with OSS markings in atttempt to uses his powers to take on any the information on the old looking boxes that can be latter recalled to helped indenfity what Hydra wanted if they are unsuccessful.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
They've pinned down what the Hydra troopers are after. It's a series of crates wtih OSS markings on the side, and anyone that's good at reading faded german letting can make out 'Schmidt, Johan' if they were able to make it out in all the smoke and fire. Tim sees the very definitely not as old as the gun man popping up with the small caliber pistol and taking shots which would just ping off armor of the target, and then duck back down. If you were an old guy and could grab anything out you wanted no one would care about, you could definitely indulge your inner firearms nerd. So perhaps this sort of place did have it's benefits.
The Hydra troopers that Batwoman is threatening aren't taking her warnings to heel as they just go to fire at her with the weapons onf ull auto, right as Jacen gets into position to flank them and hits them from the side, sending a couple barreling in over towards the wall. Tim is able to make out, wtih his tech training, that one of the enemy terrorists is going to try and flip out a contact micro-teleporter over towards the boxes.
So for the agents it's just a bit of a race to try and stop the Hydra agents from one last gasp to getting hwatever it is that their target is - something that's probably just about as old as everyone in the room combined.
- Tim Drake has posed:
Red Robin narrows his eyes when one of the HYDRAmen throws a device of sorts at the old boxes. He'll catch up on who "Johann Schmidt" is later, there's no time for Googling when the bad guys are about to succeed. Flinging out several Robarangs (trademark pending), if one of them hits the device and throws it off course, it'll have been worth it.
As luck would have it, one Birdarang (trademark pending) does end up hitting the device, and both promptly vanish in a bright flash of light. Honestly, it's like handing your ID card to the scammers. The other Redarangs (see above) embed themselves in wooden crates, the older the crate the deeper the cut. Minor collateral damage is part of the job, after all.
Immediate danger averted, Robin glances at the man with the Webley. "I don't think it's doing much against that armor.." he points out. "Just gets them to focus on you." If any are left standing by the time Robin finishes speaking, he'll take a ready position to at least hinder their progress towards the antique ammunition dealer.
- Kate Kane has posed:
Batwoman quickly ducks to the side as the remaining goons turn their guns on her, frowning as she notices the micro-teleporter being setup. "Damn. Can't let them get away with... aha!" And then she finds the other widget she crafted to deal with Amazos and other robots when they were being used by the Injustice League.
In this case, an EMP Grenade.
Lobbing it in a graceful overhead arc, it lands right on top of the micro-teleporter. There's a sudden whirring noise as it spins up, followed by a massive *FLASH* as it pops off, frying the teleporter's sensitive circuitry so whatever they were trying to take...
Well, it's staying put, at least for the moment.
- Jacen Knight has posed:
A brow raises as Jacen sees the grenade go in. He takes a step back sinc he isn't aware what it is at first. When it doesn't explode per say he moves to a position to cover the room, mindful of his surroundings still.
He levels the rifle at the nearest would be bad sort. He squeezes the trigger and...energy weapon, proximity of an EM Pulse. No shot. He looks at the rifle, swears again and races into the midst, tackling one HYDRA down and throwing his useless weapon at the head of another.
Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
- Cinque Evers has posed:
Even without his usual arsenal of weapons and gadgets that would have made this fight easier, Cinque is still Oletha Ukufa. The grim reaper in the storm.
As his perception accelerates, time seems to slow. Every movement, every sound sharpens to clarity. The teleportation device sputters uselessly, its escape function halted by Batwoman?s EMP device. With no way out for Hydra, Cinque adapts his rifle now a makeshift staff in his hands.
He moves with deadly precision, driving the rifle?s butt into the side of one Hydra agent?s knee. The sickening crack of bone is followed by a pained scream as the man collapses. Without missing a beat, Cinque pivots, swinging the rifle backward in a brutal arc to slam it into another agent?s groin. The second Hydra doubles over with a guttural groan, only to be met with relentless blows to the head as Cinque hammers him repeatedly with the rifle, leaving the man crumpled in an unconscious heap.
Cinque spins once more, his body a blur of motion, and delivers a devastating spinning elbow to the first agent?s jaw, sending him sprawling.
One Hydra raises his weapon, but to his horror, the EMP has rendered it useless. Cinque smirks, the glint in his eyes a dangerous promise.
"Sorry about your damn luck!" he quips, charging forward. He tackles the man with a bone-jarring impact, rolling him over like a predator pinning prey. Locking the agent in a triangle choke, Cinque uses the rifle to add crushing leverage. The Hydra?s struggles weaken before he slumps unconscious
Cinque rises, exhaling sharply as symphony of apathy is quieting.
- Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The flip of the EMP grenade through the air disrupts the teleporter, shutting it down. The remainder of the heroes are quick to take out what Hydra attackers were still left. The place is secure as backup generators come back online and lights return on as the sound of SHIELD reinforcements outside coming to lock down the area come. So the group is left with a trio of bulky crates that Hydra was willing to throw so many troops and so much equipment into trying to retrieve that was left in a dusty, barley guarded storehouse.
From the fighting, the latch holding one of the crates shut would pop open. Revealing within it carefully stacked documents holding seals marked with that of the Schutzstaffel, the Nazi SS. A carefully bagged suit of an officer of the same organization was visible. A shredded facemask. Officer's cap. A rusted luger, a standard sidearm.
