|
- Namor has posed:
A missive arrived at the Themysciran Embassy, penned to one Princess Diana of Themyscira: The Wonder Woman.
'Princess,
I rather enjoyed our brief - if otherwise tense - conversation between us even while we were considering the possibilities of danger surrounding Arthur Curry. For your hospitality and your warmth, I would like to offer to pay for your meal. There is a place, quiet and humble, called Kenka. I would be honored if you were to join me.
The attire seems casual.
Yours,
- N'
The seal of the Emperor of the Seven Seas was on the parchment itself, perhaps the only bearing of it's legitimacy along with Namor's surprisingly delicate handwriting. If Diana were to accept the invitation, she would find Namor dressed in casual clothing as he looked about the menu while sitting in a booth by his lonesome.
Then of course, if she didn't accept the invitation...then that would be quite awkward for Namor, wouldn't it?
- Diana Prince has posed:
the missive had been received, and the nature of it was rather well enjoyed.
Thus, Diana arrived dressed in a casual style herself. With a black leather jacket, a white blouse worn beneath it, dark slacks, and golden hoop earrings, a light bit of makeup on her face, and her hair tied back, she arrived and found Namor within moments.
She was shown to his table, and thanked the store worker, before she showed him a soft smile, standing beside his table. "That was a rather awkward conversation to suddenly have in my office." She started off with, showing him a small knowing grin. "But it turned out well, I think." She added, before she motioned to the chair across from him. "May I?" She asked, before she would accept the seat, and settle in to it, setting her small bag aside. Her eyes cast around the restaurant, before she looked back to him.
"I have heard of this place, before. A friend raved to me about it once. I am glad to finally get to stop by." She says, her Themysciran accented voice warm and kind in tone.
- Namor has posed:
Namor was dressed rather appropriately for the day himself. He wore a black longsleeve shirt in addition to blue jeans and simple shoes. His hair was somewhat slicked backwards, but not in the Italian style. His hair, slightly curled, nearly looked like short arcs atop his head. His beard, neat and trimmed, helped give him more of a dignified look. His pointed ears are unhidden, unashamed of his status as a mutant, and when Diana stepped forward?
Like a gentleman, he rose.
"Princess." He bowed his head slightly at his fellow royal. "Please, you would honor me." he gestured to the seat across from him, and he would not retake his seat until she did.
"Yes...I apologize about that. Atlantis has been in a state of slight disarray. While we are no closer to discovering the purpose of the attack on Arthur and Mera, it did allow us to be in company." He returned the kind words to her. "and it turned out better than expected. That said...I apologize for my unannounced arrival."
- Diana Prince has posed:
AS Namor settled back in across from her in-turn, Diana sat straight up on her chair, and lowered her chin very slightly as she stared over at him. She showed a reserved smile to his words, and gently shook her head to the sides, causing her hooped earrings to sway at the sides of her head. "Considering the circumstances? I understand, and it is fine. I might have done something similar, as well. It certainly does put some of my sisters on alert, and edge, but they understand too. Your people were attacked in New York. You had to move with some anonymity, because of it."
A server came to their table, to deliver water and some casual banter. Diana exchanged it with the server, and thanked them, before they stepped away once more.
"You're hopefully going to work with Arthur to get to the bottom of these aggressive actions?" She asked, as she reached for the glass of ice water, and one of the menus set before her at the table.
- Namor has posed:
"Some of your sisters looked as though they were ready to try and run me through with their spears. I cannot blame them, they seemed quite proud that the Embassy is nigh-unbreachable. It took me some time to try and find my way inside." Few gain such praise. The Atlanteans as a culture often respected strength. If they sought it, the Themyscirans had it. But more than that, they had wisdom - a trait that felt much in low amounts these days.
"Thank you for your forgiveness in this matter. When such things happen, you never know whom you may trust. I am glad I seemed to have made the right decision to place such with you." Namor admitted with a slight smirk. When the server came, Namor too indulged in some light conversation before they moved away. The water was good, allowed Namor to stay hydrated even when he was away from the seas he called home.
When asked about Arthur, Namor sighed. "It wounds my pride, knowing that Arthur may well become my enemy in the coming months... but I will work with him. Despite his claim for the throne, he is still an Atlantean citizen and will be protected as such....in addition to him being a worthy warrior."
- Diana Prince has posed:
The talk of her people's Embassy had Diana showing a small smile, but she did not comment back on the matter further. Instead, she just softly nodded her head, and glanced down to the menu again, before she regarded him once more. She drew in a breath, and considered something, before she looked away to an employee of the restaurant moving to help a couple dining on the far side of it. When she looked back to Namor, she showed the King another smile. "Arthur is a man who means well, but one with a heart that still burns with a lot of unrefined emotion. I hope that he does not become an adversary for you, because I believe that an Atlantis that has you both seeing eye to eye, is a stronger Atlantis, which benefits all of us."
She showed another smile, before she motioned to the menu. "What would you recommend?" She asked, as their waiter was on her way over to take their orders.
- Namor has posed:
Her silence was concerning.
Not in that her silence was enough ti disquiet his soul, but that it had meant she had consulted her deeper thoughts. It was near nerve-wracking, were it not for when she finally spoke. Namor did not follow her gaze, instead keeping his attention on the menu. But when she had spoke, it had been through volumes. Arthur means well. She didn't want them to fight.
"It may not be something that is easily avoidable. With Arthur staking his claim, it means citizens who were loyal to Atlanna and her bloodline during her reign may seek violent removal of myself and all Atlantean citizens who support my rule. Though if Arthur and I are able to recompense...then there may be hope of peace. War only weakens us."
Namor sighed for a moment. "Then of course, there is the /how/ we will see eye to eye." He silenced himself. "Hm. Politics." Namor spoke the word as though he despised it.
"Hm...the edemame is quite good. As is the river-rock beef."
- Diana Prince has posed:
Diana took up his recommendation for the meal, and indicated to the waitress as much. She handed her menu over, and after the young woman departed, she showed the monarch a soft smile. "I know that the very concept of working closely with Arthur might seem daunting, but I have worked with him long enough now, to know that he has a golden heart, and is more of a soft spirit than his gruff demeanor wants to show on the outside. I cannot say I could claim the same for you, but when I look in your eyes, I see a leader who cares deeply for his people, for his Kingdom, and for the future of it all. It is the same for Arthur, he just does not quite see the scope of what he can, and cannot effect." She drew in a breath, and her right hand went for the glass of ice water once more. "But, stopping violent attacks is the most important matter right now, and again, if I can help with that, just let me know."
She smirked for a small second, and took another sip of her water. Once she placed the glass down again, her head shook once more. "Are there any other matters happening of late? It has been some time since I spoke to you last... We have mostly been tied up in dealing with the events related to Galactus, both here on Earth, and a colony world established in a nearby star system."
- Namor has posed:
"Daunting is not the word I would use."
Namor commented to Diana. "More a wound to my pride." Namor refuses to admit fear. Much like many a warrior who chooses to face their problems head on rather than play and bandy with words. Though Diana speaks a great deal to his character, and whiles he cannot claim the same kind of heart - at least from what she's witnessed - she at least knows how much he loves his people. For Atlantis?
Namor would do anything.
"I will let you know, Diana." A small pause, a look of warmth in his eyes that betray his stoic expression. "Thank you." a deeper thing, perhaps, in the mere words, her smirk reflected in his own as he looked down and away from her.
Only when she asked would he speak. "Far too long since last we spoke. Aside from ensuring that peace remains beneath the waves, I've been trying to find opportunities to assist against this Galactis, and Atlantis's resources is at all of your disposals. Tell me of the name of this colony system?"
Though she had asked about him, he looked away. "Hmm...only that I've taken up sculpting again." He turned to look upon Diana. "I realize I must be quite boring."
- Diana Prince has posed:
Since it was a casual affair, Diana places her elbows on the edge of the table, and laced her fingers together in front of her chin, her chin gently resting against them, as she stared at him with a small smile. The smile faded at the questions and comments of Galactus. "New Themyscira is the name of the colony world. It was selected by the people themselves. They voted on it, based on ... all of the help of my people. I am yet unsure how I feel about it, but if they like it?" She smirked softly, and nodded her head once. "I will accept it. We are building rapidly for them, to have a beautiful city to call home. It is a tidal locked world, though, so there are quite a few who have to deal with a different kind of life."
She lowered her hands down to rest them on the table in front of her proper, her elbows pushed out to the sides, as she shook her head to him. "You are far from boring. Sculpting is an art form quite beloved from my home. It is why I put so much effort in saving the artworks of history, after I first left Themyscira. One hundred years of trying to find rare antiquities, restore them if needs be, and find safe places for them to be studied, and enjoyed."
She drew in a breath, and showed him another smile. "Should you ever wish to display any of your work, I could setup an exhibit for it here in New York. I am quite sure it would be a very big draw for the public, and art enthusiasts in general..."
- Namor has posed:
It was an unnatural thing for Namor to have anyone interested in him, his actions, his talents, or his goals outside of what services he may grant unto others. Though hearing that the efforts of the Amazons had earned them a name on a new Colony out in deep space known as New Themyscira made him chuckle a moment. "Hm. Perhaps it should be taken as a great compliment. If this planet ever wrongs the Amazons again, they will have an entire planet they might make way to."
A tease in his voice, a small smirk. "Democracy has it's advantages." He hummed. "Tidal locked, you say? Hm...I can have Atlanteans utilize the spaceport, travel to this colony. We may yet secure the oceans the for them, scout and investigate the life sources there." Namor offers.
She deemed him far from such things he would label himself and a hint of red had touched his cheeks, but he looked away for a moment, looking at others in the restaurant, before meeting her gaze. He tilted his head at her, taking a look at the angles of her face, the shape of her eyes, even the structure of her cheeks and jaw. "You do me a great kindness, Diana. If you would wish...I have a few pieces in my palace I may be willing to part with, per your pleasure. And if you might like..."
He considered his words carefully.
"I may attempt to do a structure of you, or someone of great importance to your memory, if you like. A gift of many from Atlantis to our Amazonian friends...and as a gift, heartfelt, from myself to you."
- Diana Prince has posed:
Consideration was given to the idea of Atlantis dispatching help to the colony world, with Diana tilting her head in thought of it for a few seconds, before she smiled softly. "I think that everyone there, would enjoy that quite a lot. The help, that is. They are trying hard to get accustomed to hunting and growing food that is sustainable outside of their starship technologies. They have to become self sufficient if they wish to survive in this new frontier. If you would, or rather... should you find some within your people who would be up for aiding in that? By all means, let me know, we can find them passage there. It is a beautiful world."
She sat up a little more straight, as he spoke of his hobby, and the works he could donate to an exhibit, which garnered a slight grin from the Princess. "I would love it." She quietly told him back, her voice sincere, and soft. She glanced away to some commotion across from them again, but was quick to look back to him as he offered to make a sculpt specific of her, or of her people in-general, and her grin persisted. "I have had a few attempts done of myself, I am not sure how I feel about them. Honestly, I would prefer others of my people, and pass that on to them. My... aunt Antiope springs to mind, most immediately, though she has a few already of her in a garden that has been built in her honor. She passed away, a century ago, in a fight from foreign invaders. But, should you wish to try something, I would be more than happy to see how it progresses. I am sure having someone here, and now, is far easier than sculpting someone you have never seen before, too."
- Namor has posed:
"Settling into a new world is different. Agriculture, hunting, exploration, even building structures may be fundamentally different depending on available resources. But...should travel be arranged, I would be willing to look into this matter personally. Besides, if you seek the planet to be beautiful, I would like to lay my eyes upon it at least once." Namor spoke with a kindness to his voice, a smile on his lips that nearly reached his eyes.
"Then it is yours." if she would love it, then he would gladly gift her some of his works for her own viewing pleasure. "I have a wonder now why you feel strangely if those done of you? Perhaps they caught some of your features wrong?" Namor asked of her, leaning forward in interest as Diana spoke of her aunt, of those she would see sculpted. "I would be honored for your criticism. And certainly, sculpting you would be easiest, I have seen you most. Though should you wish, you can describe me their features and I will accomplish it for you. Two kinds are quite precise."
He smiled. "I don't meet too many with a passion for art. Do you sculpt?"
- Diana Prince has posed:
As they waited for their food, and enjoyed one another's company in conversation, Diana showed a smile to his words, and gently shook her head. "I don't sculpt, no. I do dabble in oil painting, but most of my time has been spent restoring other's works. It's been a passion of mine to breathe life back in to pieces that have been scarred by age, and life itself. Sculpting is something I dabbled with some time back in my life, but not recently. Painting? Well... I still toy with that in the art studio at the Embassy. It is a great way to find some relaxation, when I take a moment to separate myself from the struggles of the world. Which, itself, is quite rare."
She gave a quick smirk, as their waitress came from the kitchen, holding a tray filled with their ordered meals. Diana sat back, and allowed her to serve them, as she thanked the dutiful worker for her efforts, and took in the sight of the selected food. "Looks wonderful..." She said, reaching for some utensils.
Once they were alone again, she sampled some of the food, and regarded him again. "I can send some artwork of Antiope to you, and see how you feel about it? It would be a lovely piece to add to the Embassy courtyard, I think."
- Namor has posed:
Namor actually seemed to be enjoying himself. While it seemed he greatly preferred Atlantis to the surface world, Namor enjoys the surface just as much. After all, he's a child of two worlds. He's defended as much as he's attacked. But to /know/ someone?
Well, that is truly the gift.
"Perhaps one day you will bless me with one of your paintings. The beauty the mind can create is a powerful thing. Perhaps you might make something for me, one day." After all, it would have to be someday, or else it wouldn't be a gift!
He chuckled. "You should take more time to yourself. Tge world survived a long time without you. Perhaps it might survive a while longer if you rest your eyes for a time and relax."
Then food arrives, and Namor is pleased. He tips the waiter well, before drawing his attention to Diana.
"Please do. I would study the art you send, and I can create a draft of what the structure ought to look like. I would only ask that you approve of it before it dwells in your courtyards."
- Diana Prince has posed:
A bit more of the food was enjoyed, as Namor replied to her, and Diana seemed to enjoy what he had suggested she'd order. When she was able, she took another sip of her drink, and regarded him again. "It would only be fair, to see to it that a painting is exchanged for a sculpt." She told him, a grin showing on her features a second later. "Maybe two or three, I suppose, might further even out that deal." She joked, as she let out a soft laugh.
Her attention went once more to her food, where it lingered, as she considered his suggestion of her taking time to herself. When she looked up again, some moments later, she agreed with a slight nod, and a glance away, before she responded.
"Perhaps, once the galactus situation has been dealt with. I need the comfort of knowing that has reached a resolution, before I could really relax. I know that there are threats out there, that I do not even know are coming, and Galactus could be here soon, or could be ... years away... But still, when you know the train is coming, you want to get off of the tracks, even if it is a long way away. Or, at least, you should want that." She stated, a dry smirk shown on her lovely facial features.
She drew in a breath, and shook her head from side to side again. "We will see how things play out, and then? Perhaps it is time for me to take a break, and let the world be... without quite as much of my attention. It can probably survive without me, as much as that might hurt my ego." She grinned again.
