- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson found a bench away from the noise and commotion of the gym. He held his phone in one hand, and a bag of ice in the other, pressing it to his head. "Yeah, tell mom I'm not going to make dinner tonight. Yes I'm at the gym... if you have to know a wrestler hit me. What? Well this other wrestler threw her into me. I'm fine. She was very sorry. Yes... she... SHUT UP DARLA!" A few people look in his direction and he quiets down. "Just tell momma I won't be coming. I got a headache... it's not funny. I will not buy a dress! Hey you're going to hear a sound like I'm hanging up... you keep talking!" He shuts the phone off and sighs hanging his head a bit.
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
Things are progressing. Starting to look up. In a weird way, maybe being removed from the world for a few years did her some good. Made people forget things. Or at least cool down about them. It's the only reason Katsumi Oshiro is here, now, amidst others taking a more 'public' training day than at the performance center. She suspects it's to avoid any outright admission that they're bringing her in. It's a pretty huge gamble, she gets that. But still, she's not trained in a normal gym in quite some time. Much less with people who aren't predisposed to hating her out loud.
That said, this is a /very/ tricky situation. She's not quite confident enough in her ability to rein in her powers and avoid catastrophe. She's been working on that, but this feels like the deep end. Thankfully, tonight has mostly been about physical training, not sparring for her. She's pretty sure /that's/ because they're wanting to make sure she's even at baseline performance condition. And that's not something she has any concerns over.
Maybe it's because the spry Asian girl who's been out of the ring for nearly half a decade is showing them up with effortless one-handed pushups, chair crunches, and smoothly repetitious ring pull-ups. That might be why the actual sparring taking place has been a bit more intense among the regulars. And lacking a decent, commercial-sized ring to work with, the ladies have mostly kept to floor mats. Well, a monkeyflip went awry, and a dude took the brunt of the woman's landing. Bam. Apologies were had, those involved were embarrassed, and Katsumi laughed and laughed~
Now that a little time has passed, the Japanese girl drifts closer. She wasn't responsible or even really involved in the incident, but taking a 'breather' would probably be good for appearances anyway! And speaking of appearances, she tends to stand out - bubblegum pink gym shorts and sportsbra, with white and pink cross trainers. Hair bound back in a loose ponytail, and fastened with - you guessed it - a pink tie. Somehow the ensemble still likely isn't enough to distract from her vibrantly reddish-pink irises.
"Yooo~," she greets with a toothy grin. "She didn't knock anything loose, did she? She's kind'a got a tank-ass, so like," she knuckles gently towards her own chin, "s'like getting a panzer dropped on ya, huh?"
Of note, her grasp of English is impeccably casual. Her accent flows natural, at a metropolitan clip, easily at home in the heart of the American west coast and urban Los Angeles.
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson looks up and any male ego he has is not apparent. He smiles and says, "Yes, thanks I saw that butt come at my face with the speed of Mercury. I'm Billy Batson. You did quite a workout. I'm doing some streaming about the circuit and I thought I come by and take notes. So far I have 'Stand further back."
Billy stands up doesn't seem to mind Katsumi is nearly his height and way more buff than him. Pretty sure she could beat his 150 lb. press. He has his usual hoodie and jean and he pockets the phone.
"I'm guessing you're trying out... because you're dressed up kinda cute for just working out." He waits for a name.
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro moues her lips with a sympathetic nod. "S'why we got ropes around the ring. It's not for our safety. It's for /yours/." Her eyes dramatically squint with the word.
"Hanh?," she asks, her accent slipping in just slightly. "Oh, no. I mean, kind'a? It's complicated," she says, hands raising. "And listen, boyo, I'm /always/ cute." She taps an index finger to her temple before flicking it forward in distinctly Japanese salute. The mannerism would likely look quite natural in an anime. "But I've been workin' out. No reason I've gotta look bad while I do it, get me?"
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson does a very exaggerated job of sizing Katsumi up and then says, "Everything you said is true. I never argue with cute girls, especially them that can tie me into a jawn. What do you bench, bruiser? Still don't have a name. Should I just ask for the cutie with the mouth. Likes calling guys 'boyo' to see what they're made of? My last ex was a six foot three Goth weightlifter. I have no problem with strong women. They're gorgeous. Like Wonder Woman." He sets the ice bag aside. Apparently he has a think skull. He waggles his fingers to warm them back up.
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
Oh. That's.. a difficult question to answer. What /can/ she bench? How many tons was that weight Scott had her lifting..?
Nono, that kind of answer wouldn't do here. He needs a normie response. What was she capable of benching before? "Liiike.. two-twenty?," she posits, not sounding entirely convinced of that, herself. But with the mention of the goth weightlifter, she blinks at him. Some pieces start to fall together, and her fist props to her hip with a smirk. "Oshiro Katsumi. And kudos for shootin' your shot, but I'm /just/ focused on career right now."
Career and other very significant life-altering things. Incidentally, Wonder Woman-involved things.
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson tilts his head back and regards Katsumi through half closed eyes. "Weeeell confidence is not one of your problems. I'm kinda focused too but I keep shooting. I should watch that. I have... I'm working through stuff. Uh... you might know my ex, I feel like. It as amiaable and mutual. Hence I am still breathing. I shouldn't have brought her up like a trophy. Sorry. That wasn't right. Good luck with your caareer anyway." Two-fricking twenty? That was even more than Divine. Yikes!
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
"Dude, I put on shiny underwear and grapple with women," Katsumi says dryly. "Confidence is a /must/ for this job." She tosses her ponytail over her shoulder in a blatant, albeit subconscious preen.
"Anyway, uh. I dunno who your ex is. Ya never said." Stepping back once to get a little more space, she leans forward to prop her hands to her knees. "By the way! Doing research is cool'n all, but you're obviously not dressed for a workout. You're rockin' the Unibomber cosplay, while watchin' women tussle. It's a little sus. People'll probably be more talkative and less guarded if ya look a little more.. y'know. Natural to the surroundings."
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson :hem and haws a little. "Well I mean I came down here from Bushwick directly on my bike when I got the invite. I'm not ogling women. I have a press pass if you want me to prove it. I am doing a serious piece on the Wrestling. well not totally serious. I try to have fun. But I'll run through my closet for a better look when I come back. Anyway Panzer Butt and her thrower already agreed to talk to me. I'm coming back Tuesday if you want to spare a few words."
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
"Suuure you're not," drawls Katsumi cloyingly. "Watchin' chicks throw each other around, and it's /totally/ clinical for you. Mmhm. Believable." She bobs her eyebrows at him. She bobs them with sinister intent.
The moment passes, and she straightens her posture again. "I dunno how much I can say just yet. Some stuff's in the air. But it's been a while since I've been in the ring, and the world ain't right until I'm doing my thing. So we'll just have to see what happens, huh?"
"Anyway, what outfit you workin' with?"
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batsonshrugs. "You do not know guys. We have like zero concept of wardrobes until we're actully looking in our closets. I can appreciate you having to keep your mouth shut about your situation. The diplomatic job might not work out." He smirks a little. "But thanks for your interest. I'll probably put the hoodie in mothballs and... I dunno, Fedora with a press badge stuck in the band. I kid. I will show up in a jacket and slacks and my buttkicking boots. I will legit appear as a respectable journalist. And no ogling till I get my piece filmed."
- Katsumi Oshiro has posed:
Katsumi Oshiro bursts into laughter and raises her hands. Her head shakes quickly, and once the laughter has subsided enough, she clarifies: "Not your /outfit/ outfit, I mean you said you have a press badge! What outfit is that with!? You know, company? Org? Group?"
- Billy Batson has posed:
Billy Batson cracks up too. "Well I'm a streamer, like said so I'm sort of independent but I work out of Shaw Studios right now. I podcast there too. Mostly I'm on the street in Bushwick or anywhere I can find a story. I interviewed that teeny alien Noa, and Officer Guthrie revealed he was a mutant to me and I interviewed a few superheroes. I know Shazam and I help him out when I can. We're both from Philly."
