- Tony Stark has posed:
Once again, Crush is working in the hangar at the Stark airfield when she hears the distinctive sound of repulsors followed by the sound of one of Tony's suits landing outside the door. It opens and he strolls in, the last bits of the armor flowing back into his arc reactor.
"Heya kiddo, feel like taking a little flight? I wanted to get your opinion on the spot I think would be good for the space station. You've got a better handle on large scale construction than I do, so I thought I'd have you check things out and see what you think."
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Beautiful day outside, or so most people would state. Spring was in the air, flowers were trying to bloom, allergies were starting to act up, and Crush was elbow deep in another rabbit hole that random thought had lead her down. This time the task wasn't anything amazing, or even overly interesting, but then this was a person who played three kinds of music to growing avocado trees for a science fair project... nothing was out of the realm of possibility.
Hearing the all too familiar sound of one of Stark's suits, even before he landed, a half smile tickled her lips before she shoved the stack of books she was reading through back into her backpack and stood up.
"I'm always willin to take a flight!" she stated almost excitedly. "Always lookin for reasons to just go out there and fly around, without freakin out any of the governments on this planet."
Zipping her pack shut, she dropped it back down to the floor by the table, before grabbing her denim vest and slipping it back on. Wouldn't do to go to space in only part of her usual style after all. "I'll admit, I've been doin some readin on large construction projects in space, and thus far... not much information about it from this planet. The International Space Station is pretty much it, unless ya count that asteroid up there, an the Justice League moon thing."
A single breath, "Ya wanna ride? Promise ta wear my seatbelt, so there's no risk of crush injuries..." yeah, it was a pun, and she was grinning like a fool over it
- Tony Stark has posed:
Tony nods, walking over towards the shuttle. "Yeah, sure. Haven't gotten to fly in it yet, I'm curious to see how it feels." He shakes his head with a grin, "Very punny, yes. Starting to come out of the shell a little, I see. Good, keep it up and we'll have you in front of the news crews doing construction updates in no time at all."
He glances at the backpack full of books with a slight smile, "Working on anything exciting today, or just one of those 'I need to pin down a thought' type of things? I get those a lot, there are a ton of half finished projects cluttering up the workshop. I should probably go through some of them and see if I can remember what the hell I was thinking when I started."
He reaches the shuttle door and opens it, gesturing for Crush to precede him. "Pilot first. I'll feed the coordinates into the navigation system once we're in."
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Crush was all sure of herself, feeling a little cocky and then Stark just goes and points it right out, adding something about news crews. That causes her to blink a few times and mentally stagger, even if her body just keeps right on walking... almost into the side of the shuttle.
"Wait... what?" she states, stopping just before face meets shuttle. "News crews? Me? Oh hell no... that'd be a /huge/ mistake."
Clearing her throat a little she adjusts herself before walking over to the door and... he opens it. Some things were still difficult for her to get used to, and people being nice was still up there on that list. "Just a random thought, like an itch ya can't reach," she states, eyeing him a moment before stepping into the shuttle.
"Ya know, if ya wanna fly the Hot Rod, ya can," she offers, pausing at the pilot and co-pilot's seats. "Not like ya can really do much damage to me, or it."
- Tony Stark has posed:
Following her in, he heads to the copilot seat and settles into it, "I'm good with you flying, she's your baby after all." He pulls out a small StarkPhone, connects to the shuttle's navigation system (they can do that?) and enters in the coordinates.
"Ok, all yours." He does, however, take the precaution of actually using his seatbelt. Best to be safe, after all.
"Ok, let's see what this baby can do. By the specs we designed, it should be pretty impressive. Just try to recall, humans do have certain stress tolerances." He grins at her and says "I'm ready, let's head up."
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Settling into the pilot's seat, Crush takes a moment to fasten her seatbelt. She didn't really need it, but the shuttle did. Wouldn't do for her to be thrown from the seat and into a wall, which could damage the wall.
"Oh I see how it is... all mine, but ya phone can high-jack it, right?" She states with a grinning smirk that slowly turns into just a grin. Something about Stark made her comfortable when she shouldn't be, almost made her drop her guard entirely. She'd been trying to figure out what it was since she met him, and even still had no idea what it was.
With coordinates programmed and the main hanger door opened, Crush maneuvers the shuttle into a hover and outside.
"Oh she's impressive alright, but I know human's are squishy... remind myself every day so I don't kill one on accident."
Without another word the shuttle is simply not there any more. She knows exactly how fast she can safely push the shuttle with a human in it, and that's exactly how fast she goes. It's probably a good thing that Tony put his seatbelt on, because halfway off the planet she starts showing off. Zigging, zagging, upside down... you name it, she does it.
- Tony Stark has posed:
One of the bonuses of being Iron Man is that you get used to being in just about any position possible. The suit is even more maneuverable than the shuttle, so Tony's not even fazed by the maneuvers Crush takes the shuttle through.
"Nice, turns really well, good acceleration... we did a good job on this thing. You've got yourself one hell of a machine here Crush. And you seem to be a heck of a pilot too. I'm impressed."
As they approach the coordinates in the navigation computer, Tony starts pointing things out through the front viewport.
"This area of space is where I'm looking at having the station. You'll notice a couple of big asteroids over to the left and up about twenty degrees, I was thinking we could use those as a place to stockpile all the building materials and then pull from there as the construction advances. That way the supply ships don't have to risk getting too near the structure and people while we're building. Seem like a plan to you, O mighty forewoman? Feel free to chime in with any thoughts you have, I want to get this moving now that we've got some ships built to supply the construction and take crews up and down."
He pauses for a moment, then continues "Oh, incidentally, that other large asteroid I was thinking of using for barracks. It's just not effective to bring the crews up and down every day, I figure we'd start with a three on four off rotation. I've been actively trying to hire people who worked on the Watchtower for the League, it may be on the Moon, but it's about the closest thing to a space station humanity has built so far."
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Once Crush has satisfied herself wish shaking Tony up, even though of course she didn't really do so, she brings the shuttle right in to the coordinates and comes to a stop.
"I'm assuming the piloting stuff is in my blood," she offers as she looks out at the asteroids, and around the area in general. After a moment she sets the sensors to scan the area, and the asteroids.
"Seems a pretty good location," she murmurs, watching the rotation of the asteroids. "So storing materials on the asteroids to be shuttled to the build sight, not a bad idea. Shuttles are less likely to mow down the workers on accident."
Turning the shuttle to face the larger of the asteroids she cants her head a touch. "Barracks... yeah, that could work, but ya run the risk of what I call 'human stupidity boredom' by havin them all in one place, all the time. You'll need some serious forms of entertainment for off hours, communication back to the Earth for contacting family, possibly even ya own form of police to maintain order..." she trails off, already running numbers in her head for a population of space construction workers.
"Do we got a way to safely simulate zero gravity on Earth? Cause if we do, that's gonna help with training, an if ya let me do the training... oh jet packs!" yep that part came out of no where. "We're gonna need a stock of light weight, self contained jet packs, with homing capabilities... now see, there ya got my brain going in all the directions at once again."
- Tony Stark has posed:
Tony chuckles, "That's quite all right. In fact, it's why I wanted you up here. You're right about the entertainment, of course. And I'll make sure to have some security guards as well, to make sure everyone stays safe."
He stops and thinks for a moment, then goes on "As for zero-G, even I haven't come up with a way to cancel out gravity yet. I think we'll have to do our training the same way the space programs do, underwater. It's not quite the same, but it does get people somewhat used to the concept of floating around without a set up or down, and gets them used to being surrounded by a hostile environment. Once they get comfortable with that, we'll take them up in one of the cargo ships and work with them on maneuvering around the cargo bay to have some real experience before they're expected to do any actual work in zero-G."
He stops and looks over at her, "Sound like a plan?"
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
Underwater... so that's how the humans did it. Crush had always wondered how it was human astronauts did their training for their space missions, and had always intended to look it up to find out. Like many things however, it was one of those flittering thoughts that ran through her head in a stampede with a few hundred other thoughts at the same time.
"The asteroid'll make a perfect place for a barracks, cause you're right about going back and forth daily." She nods, looking over at him instead of the asteroid. "Three days on, four days off is a good ratio, eight hour shifts, making three shifts in an Earth day. I can work out a schedule once we got the manpower."
After another moment or two of random thoughts skittering around her head, she nods again, "Underwater it is. Sometimes walk along the bottom of the Hudson just to mess with the fish... so I'll get myself trained up, cause it is different enough to be off putting. I'll be ready though, when the time comes, I can promise that."
- Tony Stark has posed:
"Ok, looks like we're all set then. I've got most of the construction crew hired, making sure your people were first on the list. I'll contract some ex-military types for the security, they can handle rowdy construction workers without going overboard. And I'll expand the barracks plans a bit to make more room for recreation. Shouldn't be too difficult, without gravity they're not gonna be playing basketball or lifting weights. Your idea with addition comm lines so they can contact family and friends is a good one, I'll double the number I was planning on."
He looks around the area of space before them, then nods. "Ok, I think that's all we needed for now, unless you have any other thoughts, you might as well take us back down so I can get the ball rolling."
- Xiomara Rojas has posed:
"Glad we got the crews hired... though some are gonna change their minds once training starts, stubborn New Yorkers be well, stubborn New Yorkers. Get set in their ways an all that," Crush chuckles, then finished up the last of the scans on the second asteroid. The information was probably already available, but she liked testing the shuttles systems.
"I got no thoughts..." she adds, then snorts a laugh. "I mean, no more thoughts on this... got too many other thoughts, but you get it."
Turning the shuttle around, a wicked little grin plays across her lips. Tony might have just enough time to notice it before the shuttle darts around the larger of the two asteroids, then around the smaller one, hugging close to their surfaces, before heading back to earth. It had to be done... joy riding with Tony Stark, that was off the bucket list now.
