Date of Scene: 01 March 2020
Location: Staten Island
Synopsis: While Conner tries to settle in the old team hideout, Rose Wilson drops by looking for a safehouse, derailing Conner's plans.
Cast of Characters: Conner Kent, Rose Wilson

Conner Kent has posed:
The old gang hideout has a resident after months empty. And said resident has been cleaning up a section most of the night. Then left early to get some business done. Of course it is Sunday, so not much business can be done. He went hunting down for not hideous expensive apartments. Then groceries. And now Conner is getting back with a large bag of foodstuffs that he holds together only thanks to his telekinesis.

Since the place was basically mothballed, there was little security, most of the expensive electronics had been removed by more security-conscious team members (likely Robin) and power is delivered thanks to batteries. But Conner needs little more than a couch to crash and a fridge to store food. In fact not even food would be needed, he just likes junk food. Also, junk food tends to lure Bart in, and he wants to hang up with him.

That he actually cleaned up a couple rooms is already something. A couple years ago, he wouldn't have bothered. So he has matured a little.

Rose Wilson has posed:
When jobs go badly or life goes wrong, a wise person heads to safe places.

But jobs rarely go /wrong/ for Rose, they just get more adventurous. And life is GREAT, too. So she has no reason to go somewhere that was once a place that might be deemed as safe....ish. Right?

Hardly. The job wasn't botched, but she certainly did piss off the targets friends and family, which complicated things in such a way that she had to leave town quickly, and keep moving. By the time she hits New York she's tired and looking for a place to post up for a few nights, which is how she has ended up at the old hangout to find it mostly abandoned, except for the good, hard work put in by Conner. Even if no one was there when she arrived she's not blind to the fact someone has been here, and so she's waiting to see who it is that turns up.

When who it is happens to be Conner she announces herself by doing that clever thing where she just pops up from a shadow all 'HI!' only without the Hi and looking a little more wary about things.

Conner Kent has posed:
Popping out of the shadows without a HI is very much Robin's favorite trick. 'I am Bart-man' was heard just yesterday. Conner is no longer surprised. What is odd is when Robin is not perfectly hidden and he notices with his enhanced senses. Like now.

So he knew someone was there. But he assumed the wrong person. "Hey T... Rose!?"

Black leather, check. One eye cool blue eye, check. Long white hair, check. Hot, hot, hot... check. Bad news? Veeeeery likely. He almost drops the bag. But the telekinesis does fail him. His wits, on the other hand...

"Oh, hey... so, yeah... what's up, babe?"

Rose Wilson has posed:
Not everyone can be a Robin. There's already too many bumbling around in the world, current and former, so it's just probably a good thing that she's not making any real attempt to be Robin. That'd become very confusing.

From where her hand was tucked behind her back comes that hand...and a gun. Shocking? Probably not. It'd be more shocking if there wasn't a weapon somewhere around, after all. Although she does point it towards him, or rather, the bag of groceries that he's got with him. "What's in the bag?"

That counts as both an answer for his question and a hi, doesn't it? Although she doesn't wait for an answer before she's moving towards the food to try and take it from him with a strange sort of focus.

Conner Kent has posed:
There is a visible frown at the gun. This is not a place for guns. It is probably not a place for Rose either, but they did try.

Also, she just stole his bag. Evil!

"Food and stuff, hey!" Conner sighs. "You know, you... the cops are not after you, are they? Or Cobra ninjas? Or Batman?" He looks outside briefly, nope. Then he pulls off a cellphone, because at least Tim should know she is back in town and sneaking into their hideout.

Rose Wilson has posed:
"No cops, ninjas or Batman." Rose assures him, because that is the truth. As far as she knows it, at least. The gun gets tucked into the back waist of her jeans before she moves towards a spot on the floor to upend the contents of the bag.

Then she folds her legs beneath her before she starts to sort through the items, shifting them into piles of likes and don't likes. When she comes across a package of Ho-Hos she stops her sorting and tears into it to pull out one of the snack cakes before shoving the entire thing into her mouth before she looks up, and points out, "'u be'er nah be callin' the 'ops." Talking with a full mouth is just rude, but she doesn't seem to care.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Just texting Robin," admits Conner. The bag is full of mostly unhealthy food. Chips, sweets, chocolate, frozen pizzas, soda cans, the usual. Back then the fridge and the kitchen counters were nearly full of those kinds of foods.

He stares at the white-haired girl for a few seconds as she eats, and then shrugs, tossing his leather jacket on a table and flopping down on the couch. "Since you are eating my food, want to tell me why are you here anyway?"

Rose Wilson has posed:
When he says that he's texting Robin she freezes, a flicker of something crossing her face. A stay or go...but then she just shrugs, accepting that Robin is probably no more a danger to her than Conner himself is right now.

One of the sodas is grabbed and she pops it open to wash down the snack cake, then she sets it down on the floor before a hand raises, wiping across her mouth before she reaches for one of the bags of chips in her No pile, tossing it towards him. "I'm just passing through. No big deal."

Conner Kent has posed:
"And hungry," points out Conner. Now, he is not a detective but Rose looks like has slept on those clothes. "You are in trouble, hmm?" Not really a question. He has not followed her career after she left them in anger, refusing to return when he sought her, but he has heard things. The chips are tossed back into the pile, not really in the mood of eating.

He should have called the police, or at least kicked her out. It is pretty likely she is wanted in a few estates. But instead he stays on the couch, watching her eating and remembering what could have been but never happened.

Rose Wilson has posed:
"Some of us require food to survive." Rose points out before she shoves the second of the cakes into her mouth, her expression flashing defiant for a moment. Daring him to say something else about her being hungry. It's also handy to avoid his other question, one shouldn't talk with their mouth full. Even if she just was talking with it full a moment ago.

It is probably very likely that she is wanted in a few states, probably a few different countries as well by this time. She gets to her feet, dusting the crumbs off before she starts towards where he's sitting on the couch, one foot landing on that bag of chips. The bag pops, the chips are ground into dust. All very accidental, probably. Rose stops a step or two in front of the couch, one pale brow raising upwards, "And what if I am? You going to come rescue me?"

Conner Kent has posed:
"..." Conner stands up. Almost a foot taller and considerably larger. Now about half a foot from her. "Hell, yes," he raises his hands up. "Yes. That is what we do. And then we might have to send you to jail, because... the hell you are doing with your life, Rosie?" He glowers at her from his advantageous height, trying to be angry at her because she chose the wrong path. And actually angry in general at the world because they couldn't convince her to stay or really help her to deal with her issues.

Right. That crushed and stomped bag of chips is an apt metaphor of how she managed to make him feel.

Rose Wilson has posed:
He's got almost a foot on her, and probably a good hundred pounds on her. But she doesn't look like she's intimidated. In fact, if anyone has ever seen a tiny dog try and intimidate a much larger dog that could snap them up with one bite, this is the human version of that moment as she steps in closer, which just forces her to look up further.

"You don't get to judge me, Conner. I'm doing what I know how to do, and I'm doing just fine at it." She is doing good at being a hired gun. But that's not really what his point is, and she knows it. "Thanks for the snacks, I'll get out of your way now."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner doesn't seem very intimidated himself, although he is hardly going to bite the white-haired girl, and she probably knows it. He hesitates when Rose states she is leaving right away, deflating a bit. "No... I mean, you should stay. At least get a real meal and a night of rest. There are free couches." He was going to use the larger one himself, but he can skip sleeping one night if that is what it takes for Rose to get some rest.

Rose Wilson has posed:
When he deflates there is a flicker of a smirk that crosses her face, like she's somehow won at something. "Showers work?"

Without waiting for a response she turns away to head back to the shadows she'd hidden herself in at his arrival, grabbing her bag and swords to swing them up onto her shoulder before she starts to head for the door, "Bring me a towel if there aren't any clean ones."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner aghs. He fell for it. Again. "The main level ones. Not sure about the rest," that about the showers. "I'll get a pizza going. But no idea about towels. You should never travel without a towel, read that somewhere."

Too many sharp sticks and no towel? For shame.

Also, Robin responded his text. No, no help is needed. Not that kind of help.
