Location: Greenwich Village
Synopsis: Meetup and Gyros for Heroes acquired!
Cast of Characters: Ray Terrill, Hiroshi Taka

Ray Terrill has posed:
It's a bright, sunny day in New York City today, with the temperature in the mid 60s. Not bad for early November! Ray's not exactly unaccustomed to the weather, being a Philly native, but it's sunny and that's -great-. Since he doesn't have a class until later this afternoon, Ray's exploring the Village, currently walking out of Washington park in his Phillies t-shirt and jeans. He's got a backpack on, and is just casually wandering at this point. He's not -quite- looking like a tourist, but definitely isn't acclimatized to New York yet.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
As opposed to Taka, who is still acclimating to New York Weather. She's a Tokyo native and while it's not that far off... there are still differences. Today, her hair is a bright blue color. After all, she is anything but traditional in her basic behavior. She has an off-one-shoulder long sleeve shirt on... it's not a sweatshirt. More of a long teeshirt. And the term is... distressed jeans. Yeah, she paid money for shredded denim. But she bops along as she heads for a sandwich shop. She had early morning classes today, and just got out a few minutes ago. Now she needs turkey and swiss. So American!

Ray Terrill has posed:
Taka's -another- person paying for shredded denim, since Ray has those as well. It's not uncommon after all! Ray pauses by one of the storefronts not far from the park -- apparently it's a store catering to people who like hero memorabilia. There's posters of all of the Avengers, FAntastic Four, Justice League -- even Titans and a few X-Men in there. The sandwich shop is on the other side of the hero shop.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Let's face it. New York has fun with their heroes. And the shop that grabs Taka's eye is a new one. Gyros for Heroes. With Gyro's themed for various hero types.
She rolls her eyes and steps up to the order window. Yes, they do mostly sidewalk walkup business.
"One of your Human Torch Wasabi's please." she says in her hint of a Japanese accent. Not super thick. Just exotic.
But she glances to her left at the memorabilia shop and says, "My favorite item in there is the plushie Spider-Man."

Ray Terrill has posed:
Ray ... is staring at something in there. When he hears the accented voice, he starts, and flushes a bit -- he's a redhead, so it's pretty obvious. "Oh. Oh! Um. Yeah." He coughs and says, "That ... I mean, not my thing, but I get it." He sounds a bit embarrassed as he admits, "I was looking at the Superman poster." He shakes his head and says, "Can't afford it, can't afford it." He pauses, and turns. Then he looks down -- he's fairly tall, after all. "Hey, sorry about that, I kinda zoned out there."

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Giggling in that girlish Japanese way where she covers her mouth, Taka shakes her head, "Can you afford a gyro?" she asks as she gestures at the window. "Because I hear the Krypto-Gyro is excellent. That is, if you like Guacamole." Of course they use Guac for Green to represent Kryoptonite.

Ray Terrill has posed:
Another blush, followed by, "Well, it's not like I can get a good cheesesteak here." .oO(Not that I even ahd one of those until a few months ago. I sound like such an idiot.) "Um. Yeah, I can afford that." He looks and goes, "Oh hey, they take school cards, that makes it easier. Don't have to go to the cafeteria for lunch." He motions and once he's able, says, "Yeah, gimme one of those Krypto-gyros. Yeah, a combo. Um. Coke, please." His voice isn't quite New York, but it's not far off -- especially to someone not from here.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Yeah. American is American to Taka. She gets her own order, a super hot and spicy gyro with extra peppers -and- wasabi sauce used liberally. Smiling at the reaction of the redhead, she takes her order and finds one of the only empty tables in the sidewalk seating area. "Not many seats." she states as she sits. "Room here with me." she adds with a gesture to the seat across from her.

Ray Terrill has posed:
After a bit, Ray finally gets his gyro, falafel and drink. He carries them carefully over and says, "Hey, thanks. I'm Ray. Cool hair." He then...takes a big bite of the gyro, making sounds of pleasure as he chews, mouth closed. He's not a complete heathen, after all. Nuns'll keep that from happening, after all.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Smiling at the comment about her hair, Taka bobs her head. "Thank you." she states. But she takes a sip of her beverage before she bows her head, "I am Taka. Hiroshi Taka if you wish a formal introduction."
She gestures to the nearby university, and then to the backpack before asking, "You are studying? What subject?"

Ray Terrill has posed:
Finishing his bite, and taking a pull from the straw on his coke, then swallowing that as well, he clears his throat, "Nice to meet you, Taka." A beat, "Asian, um... Japanese?" It's a guess. He then says, "Oh, Ray Terrill, and yeah, I go to NYU. I'm studying EE. Um. Electrical Engineering. It's ... definitely something." Another pause, "You?"

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Nodding her head, Taka confirms that Japanese is the correct guess. She also adds a, "Hai." enthusiastically before she takes a small bite of her own gryo. She listens to the comments about classes and engineering. She shrugs her shoulders and nods in approval, "A very noble profession. Engineer. I am studying Philosophy at Empire State University." A pause, "You know. The cross town rivals."

Ray Terrill has posed:
This is responded to with a shrug and a half-grin, "Nah. If you had said you were a Washington fan, or a Giants fan.... or a Mets or Nationals fan, that might be more of a thing. I don't even follow NYU's sports. Do they even have sports? I don't know. Does ESU?" He then says, "I dunno about noble. I mean, there's all kinds of different engineering. I mainly work with computers and electronics. Well, that's the plan, anyway. Right now it's a lot of math and science. I think I have to take a philosophy class at some point. What's it like?" Obviously not something he's put much thought into.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Smirking, Taka shakes her head, "Oh, but I -am- a Giants fan." she adds with a pause. Just long enough to see her comment register in his eyes. "A Yomiuri Giants fan. A Tokyo team." But she grins at her own bad humor before shaking her head and offering a shrug, "A noble profession is one that is in demand. That can support yourself and others. A famous man once said.. with a Philosophy degree, one can think deep thoughts about being unemployed."

Ray Terrill has posed:
Ray's response is to make as if to throw a falafel at you, "C'mon, c'mon. There's a baseball team here called the Giants, but I was meaning football. They play in New Jersey though, which is just weird." He then listens to what you say and ohs, "Gotcha, yeah. Engineers can definitely get paid. I mean, it's more that I like that I'm doing it more than anything else. I've liked computers since I was a kid. I mean, I didn't have much else to work with, so there's that." He pauses and says, "So if you know that philosophy thinks about unemployment ... .why're you doing it?" He doesn't really dance around subjects, it seems.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
Smirking at the response about the Giants, Taka mock-cringes. "Is there not some rule about attacking girls?" she asks in jest. But then she inclines her head, "Football. It always seemed a bit silly to me. Precision is better than force." But she shakes her head, "At least, that is my opinion. And as for my degree.... well, to put it simply, I am not in a position where I need worry about wealth. I study what I love, not what I need."

Ray Terrill has posed:
"All's fair in food fights." However, he pops the falafel into his mouth and chews, after having slathered a bit of tzatziki on it first. After swallowing he says, "There's a lot of violence to it, yeah, but there's also strategy. You have to adjust the offense based on what the defense shows you, and vice versa. It's ..." He pauses, 'I guess it's kinda like chess where both players are playing at the same time, and moving both hands at the same time?" He takes another drink, "With violence." He grins and then listens to you, "Oh, well. Hey, I get it. Some people have that luxury." He doesn't ,but doesn't seem jealous or anything, just making a comment. "As long as you like what you do, that's important right? If it makes money, or you don't need money, that's even better." He grins again.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
"I want to be a sensei." offers Taka. "And you must understand why baseball appeals more to the Japanese culture. A single lone warrior with weapon in hand, facing down 9 other men in a contest of precision and skill. As opposed to eleven heavy warriors charging at eleven others."

Ray Terrill has posed:
Ray leans back in his seat and says, "You want to be .... I'm sorry, a what?" He then goes, "Well, sure, I guess I can see that. Although sometimes it's more of a one-on-one battle. The other eight only come in when the batter manages to beat the pitcher's pitch, right?" He takes another bite of his gyro.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
"Skill against skill, hai." says Taka as she bites into her gyro. She is making decent progress with small bites here. "And a sensei. A teacher." she says. "Yarijutsu is my -specialty-, but Karate is not unknown to me."

Ray Terrill has posed:
"Oh." Ray takes a quick drink and says, "Okay, a martial arts teacher, I get it. So the philosophy degree's because you like it, but you really want to teach martial arts. That sounds cool. I watched a lot of films growing up. I mean, I know not all of that stuff is real, but it's still fun to watch."

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
With a shrug, Taka takes a sip of her beverage. She thinks for a moment and then nods, "Many can learn to attack or defend. Far less are capable of learning when -not- to attack or defend." She smiles a bit, "Hence.. philosophy."

Ray Terrill has posed:
Another pause, then a nod, "Makes sense, Taka. I mean.... you don't always have to fight. I can get it's hard to think about it at the time, though." He pauses again, "So yeah, I guess that makes sense. Never thought about it that way."

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
"That is just the point. One must only fight when there is no other option. Otherwise, there is no honor in it. Fighting for the sake of fighting is chaos and unenlightened." says Taka. "Or at least, that is what my sensei taught me."

Ray Terrill has posed:
Another bite of the gyro down, only a little bit left, and one falafel, "So...how do you tell? I mean, if you're attacked, or you're defending someone else -- that's not for the sake of fighting, right? Or is there more to it?" He pops that last falafel into his mouth and chews, before taking another drink of his coke.

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
"Why do you fight? Is the person you are defending worthy of it? Is it an innocent? Is that person taunting and making the fight happen? Awareness is the first lesson. The ability to perceive all that happens about you and to be calm when others are excited." says Taka. "Many things need be considered. It is far more complicated than what most would call... black and white."

Ray Terrill has posed:
"Huh. There's a lot to it, yeah." He finishes off his gyro and after swallowing, "That was good, Taka. Thanks for guiding me to it." He smiles a bit, "I'm trying to get used to the city, and figuring out where everything's at. I mean, it's hard when you're busy all the time, but I'm trying."

Hiroshi Taka has posed:
"America is far more open and free than Tokyo. but.. at the same time, that freedom comes with the price of having to put up with even more idiots and narrow minded Narcissists. " She shrugs, "I get enough of that with my father's company. I'd much rather enjoy lunch with an Engineer." she adds, totally glossing over any potential martial arts lessons.

Ray Terrill has posed:
"I'm sure there's tons of engineers out there too. Unfortunately, you're stuck with a student." Ray grins, and picks up his drink to finish it off, "And yeah.... there're a lot of idiots out there. I heard about the riots in Philly when the Eagles won the Super Bowl. I mean, they had to grease the freakin' lamp posts." He shrugs, "I wasn't out there, but ... saw the news, y'know." He smiles faintly.
