Cast of Characters: Kara Danvers, Pepper Potts

Kara Danvers has posed:
A hero by the name of Dreamer has premonitions of another attack by ZZGU's followers. SHIELD is working on a vaccine for ZZGU's slime. Apparently Bruce Banner is working on a way to detect dimensional breaches. And now it's time for the next meeting with Tony about the psychic attack defences.

Yet.. she still cannot help but worry that this other version of Earth fell to ZZGU. If they can produce all this in response, why couldn't they? There's only one way to find out and unfortunately that means entering the belly of the beast.

Supergirl lands at the door to the mansion and looks up at the camera. It seems JARVIS has been programmed to recognise the Kryptonian as the door opens for her. She walks, rather than flies, up to the meeting room and enters expecting to see Tony again. Despite his dubious past building weapons of mass destruction, he seems to have his heart in the right place these days and she is coming to trust him and his brilliance.

Pepper Potts has posed:
It's cold outside.

Even before winter, there's a winter chill in the air in NYC. The days are shorter, the nights are longer, and with the plunging temperatures, there are fewer people out and about. Fewer pedestrians on the sidewalks and less traffic on the roads means that Tony Stark's Girl Friday can actually drive -herself- through the city's streets instead of being chauffeured. This evening, her security retinue of 1 isn't with her; after all, it's really not needed. How much trouble could she possibly get in to between the Stark Tower and the Avengers Mansion?

The answer, for this evening, is 'none'.

Pulling up with a more understated off-white sedan, she parks in the round driveway in front of the mansion, Tony's childhood home.

Pepper is on time, and having beat Supergirl to the meeting room by a fair bit (she had other business at the mansion). When the lady of the hour enters, it also triggers a message to Pepper, the long familiar and much missed voice of JARVIS pipes in to the meeting room, the words coming from everywhere at the same time, and nowhere.

"Supergirl has arrived, Miss Potts."

Pepper smiles at the cadence of the tones and nods her acknowledgment, finishing it off with, "Thank you, JARVIS."

So, when Supergirl does enter, there is Pepper in an impeccably tailored dark blue business skirt suit, a light cream colored shirt hiding under the blazer, and a pair of comfortable yet fashionable heels. Her famous red hair is tied up in a bun, sitting low at the back of her head, with only a few strands of hair free, attesting to the slightly later hour. Off business hours, but what needs to be done needs to be done, regardless of the time.

On the desk, a closed heavy plastic briefcase, closed and seemingly locked.

Supergirl's entrance is met with a smile, one that reaches green eyes, her skin glowing in pleasure. She steps forward, her hand outstretched in greeting.

"Supergirl. I'm Pepper. I work for Tony, and he asked if I would bring these for you." Right to the chase. In business, it serves her well.

Kara Danvers has posed:
The change in seasons is still something Kara is getting used to. Krypton had seasons, just not like Earth. The cold isn't cold enough to upset her, nor is the heat. She's not sure if that's just Earth or the way the yellow sun fuels her body. Probably the latter. Either way, she is starting to think she needs to make herself a new uniform - one with pants.

The red cape and boots, blue torso and blonde haired blue eyed Kryptonian looks to Pepper with surprise. No Tony. He is a very busy man after all, but she thought she had impressed on him the impending peril. The fine clothing she wears reminds her of Janet van Dyne, though clearly without the alcohol addiction.

A smile is given and returned. She approaches and takes Pepper's hand. "Hello Pepper. It's a pleasure to meet you." This is the person who seems to only get good press. The cousin of Superman. She has that same presence.

With a quick glance at the case - oh good, not lined with heavy elements - she sees the rows of glasses and then looks back to Pepper. "My thanks to you and to Tony. I'm sure they'll work. We will have a fighting chance against this monster. If we're lucky, we'll stop it before it even makes it to our world. But, given the way this year has gone.. Brainiac amongst other things.." She smirks, "Have you heard much about what we're up against? or is that something you'd rather not hear."

Pepper Potts has posed:
Why yes, Janet happens to be Pepper's clothier; she wears more Van Dyne suits and dresses than not. It's almost a 'must' when one is friends, after all. It'd be an insult not to!

Pepper's handshake is gentle yet firm, her hand small and delicate in proper proportion. Once introductions are complete, with a, "Pleasure is mine," verbalized, she retrieves her hand and looks politely apologetic with that business manner fully intact.

"I'm sorry Tony couldn't be here. He's working." Still? Again? There's a soft, affectionate laugh as she considers the hardworking genius, "So you're stuck with me for the handoff of his product."

Gesturing towards the case, she then leans in order to pull it closer, unlocking it with a fingerprinted code, all while explaining, "It will open for you, don't worry. But," and here, Pepper pulls back the case's top to show a good number of stylish, amber-lensed glasses. "this is what he's come up with for you."

As if to underscore the fact that she's slightly aware of what is at stake, there's a hint of a smile before she asks, "Tony mentioned something about a 'brain-squishing monster'. It's to help counter mind control. Beyond that?" Pepper shakes her head, green eyes flickering from the glasses to the powered-one. "How much of a threat is it?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I understand. He's in high demand and it's easy to see he carries the weight of the world on his shoulders," she comments about Tony. She knows a little something about that herself. "I'm glad to be meeting you Pepper, the only person I was ever stuck with was my cousin Tra-El back home," she says and then shuts her mouth and deflects with a smile as she accidentally chitchats about her lost home. Earth is home now.

Kara picks up a pair of the glasses and looks them over. Earth tech. Impressive Earth tech. She needs to understand it better. It's still a mystery to her. An ingenius mystery, pushing electrons around, pulsing photons along paths of electrons. She wonders if Krypton ever did it this way in their past.

"How does it turn on?," she asks the most obvious question, then sets the stylish lenses upon her face, "and how long will it operate for?". Thankfully, it's not just glasses that make up her disguise; not that Kara Danvers has ever met Pepper Potts. It's the hair, the voice, the mannerisms, the posture. It all adds up to create her alter-ego.

"I don't want to cause undue alarm. But this monster conquered a whole world and now wants to come here. Thankfully it has to squeeze through small dimensional door ways for its size and those door ways must be opened with technology. We have a window of opportunity to understand and defeat it. I feel sorry for that other world though. SHIELD thinks there may be ways to help them yet."

Pepper Potts has posed:
Those words about Tony really couldn't be much truer. Probably more than most would ever know. The woman who spends the most time with him, and has for the last, what, eight years, knows the reality of it, and it's there, flickering through green eyes. Pepper's proud of him, of his achievements, and the work... even if she has to share him with the world. "I know most are disappointed when they think Tony will be coming, and I'm there instead." She is, at the very least, very aware that she is a far second to the man, myth and legend. "But this," again, she nod-gestures towards the glasses, "is the result of sleepless nights."

When Kara does set the glasses on her face, the glasses automatically 'engage'. It's subtle, but there's a soft 'presence' of the tech at work. Exactly //how// they work, well.. it's enough to know that they //do// work. "All you have to do is put it on. As for time?" Pepper stands straight and her fingers entwine before her, her manner a touch more casual, but never really losing that professional air. "It won't run out of battery life, if that's what you mean. He has it set to meet demand, as it were. It stages as to what is required." It's not an 'all or nothing'. "He explained it to me, but all I can really say is 'It'll work.'"

It's the explanation of the creature that locks her breath in her throat for a long moment before she remembers to breathe. It's an expression of alarm on her face the way her eyes open slightly, brows rise, and her lips part with finally escaping air. "Oh.. oh dear." Pepper understands alien invasions... and not of the 'good' kind. She nods her head in acceptance, acknowledgment once more, "SHIELD would if they could."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara takes off the glasses again and places them back in to the suitcase. She lets out a small breath and sighs. "It's a real relief to have these. We have a fighting chance now. The last two times..." she pauses as she notices the way Pepper responds and changes tactics, "It's okay. I've got this. I have the League and the Titans at my side and now Tony's technology and SHIELD pitching in with the DEO."

She smiles and looks in to those green eyes with an earnest expression, "We're not going to let this thing win. What it throws at us, we'll hit back ten times harder." She shuts the case and says, "I've met some very smart people on Earth. Tony is one of the smartest. You must be too. Good people gravitate to each other."

There's a pause and she says, "I hope Tony can get some sleep soon." She pats the case and asks, "Is there anything else I need to know about these devices? ..is the yellow significant? It looks very stylish."

Pepper Potts has posed:
Pepper is a pure human and non-combatant. More often than not, she's far away from the action, whether by chance or by design. She also worries. Like, a lot. Fighting to save the world means there are losses, and she understands that all too well. Every time there's a 'save the world' mode in Stark Tower, there's a rock in the pit of her stomach, but she goes on, doing work so Tony can do his. A team, even if most never see behind that curtain. "I know," she says quietly. "I'm sure it'll be okay." Those words are spoken probably more often than she'd like, at times.

Her reaction, however, doesn't mean she can't handle the truth. In fact, she'd much rather know than not. "There are some very intelligent people, yes. I've had the pleasure to meet them along the way, and I know it'll work out." Pepper chuffs a breath and puts a game smile on, her shoulders setting back so she's got her impeccable posture back.

The wish for Tony's sleep? Pepper seconds it, though.. "I'm afraid that we've set up a larger coffee station downstairs," is joked softly. "It seems everyone really likes Earth."

Finally, though, in terms of the glasses? Pepper shakes her head and moves the case for ease of putting the glasses back, should she want. "That's pretty much it." There's her smile rekindling, however, and she continues. "If you have any questions, I'm sure he'll take your call."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara offers her hand again to Pepper and smiles, "Thank you for coming Pepper. I really appreciate it. I hope we get to talk again in less troubling circumstances. The communication between the League and the Avengers is improving the more we do it. Building trust. I, personally, am a huge fan. I will continue to do my best so that hopefully, one day, the world won't need them."

She smiles all the way to her eyes and then picks up the case of psychic protection glasses. "They probably come for the coffee. Send my thanks to Tony and I'll call him if anything unexpected pops up."

With good byes said, she turn on her heels and leaves the meet room. It's a short trip back to the front door, which from there she takes to the skies. Soon they will have all the tools they need to beat this thing. It's a race against the clock, given what Dreamer saw. Human ingenuity vs horrendous other worldly monster. Kara puts her faith in the Humans.
