Cast of Characters: Hal Jordan, Carol Ferris

Hal Jordan has posed:
In the Deli, there are many sandwiches. And in the deli, they make really good sandwiches. Like for Mr. Jordan here, they make a spicy italian today. Which, to make it actually spicy, he added a bit of chipolote and siracha to. Well, one has to get Lunch somewhere, and this is a perfectly good spot for it. Good times. So, he pays for his sandwhich, and...goes to sit down. Of course, he's not alone. 'Highball' Hal Jordan brought someone else. Yes, his boss from work...

Carol Ferris has posed:
It's true. You've got to get lunch somewhere.

Hal might make his choices of food quickly and find a seat, but Carol takes her time. In fact, she's probably driving everyone around her a little crazy as she asks for samples, how long it's been sitting around waiting to be sliced up, what is in the mustard, are there gluten free options, what if she really doesn't //like// mustard. Eventually she makes a choice, gets herself a turkey with spicy mustard and rye bread before carrying it and her drink towards the table that he's claimed, "Did you get a drink?"

Hal Jordan has posed:
He did, yeah. "Got coke, yeah." Sure, it's empty calories, but it tastes good. For now. He's gonna work that off later...either by fighting, or by the whole airforce training he does to keep in shape, or any number of other things. "It's not healthy...but it'll do just this once." He doesn't, however, sample everything, he knows what he wants, grabs it, calls it good.

Carol Ferris has posed:
"That'll rot your teeth out." Carol points out, pushing her drink a little further away from her so that she doesn't risk knocking it off. Then she grabs herself a napkin, opening it and setting it down across her lap before she turns her attention towards her sandwich.

Silence reigns for a few moments as she focuses on at least getting a bite or two of the sandwich before anything could potentially go badly. "What have you been up to, Hal?"

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Oh, ya know. Working. I've been doing some charity stuff for the Genosha victims in my spare time." Both when he's green and when he's not. He was there, merely an hour after the attack. He had to fight Sentinels still wandering around. It's a haunting memory.

His sandwich is good, though, and he digs right into that.

Carol Ferris has posed:
"Charity work?" Carol wonders, prodding him along just a little bit to further elaborate on what sort of charity work he might be doing. Have done? Will do? She reaches for her drink to pick it up, taking a careful sip from the tea before she sets it back down before reaching for her sandwich, tugging free a piece of the bread, "Anything that I, or Ferris Air, could maybe help with?"

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Maybe. On my own, I was only able to show up as a pilot. To do flyovers, though, I'd need permission from you. Those are technically your planes after all." But yeah, if he put on an airshow, that would raise donations faster, he's sure. He drinks a bit of the coke, wondering how badly he's going to regret drinking the coke later. Probably not too bad, it's only one.

Carol Ferris has posed:
Her planes. Carol doesn't say anything about that, just picks at her sandwich for a while before she sits back, pushing her plate away just a little. Then she crosses her arms over her chest, "Before I give permission, I've got to ask you what your exact plans might be for the planes."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"For a fundraiser? Hmmmm. We'd probably want to put on a show, like the Blue Angels typically do. We'll have these jets doing every cool trick we can think of in high G to put on something suitably impressive. We might have binoculars and even telescopes available for the kids so they can see all the manuevers we're doing up there." Hmmm. "Of course...it would also show off the quality of your planes. Might get a contract out of it too, if someone makes an offer."

Carol Ferris has posed:
"You've got to consider the cost of the fuel, paying the pilots, the cost of repairs if any accidents happen. Do you think that any funds you might earn would balance that amount of money spent and still be able to have excess to be given over?" Carol leans forward, resting her forearms on the table before she laces her fingers together, "I agree that if the right people see, then we might get a contract out of them. But that's a big if...we could just donate the cost of all that fundrasing and show to the cause instead."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"...I suppose." Hal really wanted to fly planes for charity though, not just show up with a check. Admittedly, though, showing up with a check would probably get more good done. He's always looking for an excuse to fly jets, even better if it's for a good cause. "It's no sure thing that we'd be able to cover costs. It's...just an idea I had for how to give."

Carol Ferris has posed:
"Not and still be able to donate a good portion of money to the clean up and everything." Carol shrugs her shoulders a fraction before she uncrosses her arms, reaching for her sandwich again, "However, other then fundraising, would you have any suggestions how to assist in the air? I'd be curious to see what you might think."

Hal Jordan has posed:
What can planes do? "Jets could airdrop supplies for the military." Although the military's already doing that, to a greater or lesser extent. "Everyone who wants to leave the island has already left, they've had a month by now." Hmmm. "Do you have any ideas?"

Carol Ferris has posed:
"If there were refugees there could be need for airdropped supplies. If there were still need for people to be evacuated, then we could do that. With the military running things, our hands are rather tied as to what we can really do to assist with the issues." Carol studies him across the table with a frown, "So do I have any ideas? Not really. Could park the plane and let kids climb in it for money."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"That's definitely more cost efficient. I could stay by the plane and tell kids what all the buttons and levers do. We could set up games with flight simulators nearby...there's plenty of those on various systems." Mmmm. "Take photos of kids in the plane, living their dreams of piloting."

Carol Ferris has posed:
"We could certainly do that." Carol agrees after a moment, nodding, "Maybe even have a raffle." A smile starts to curl the corners of her mouth upwards, "Maybe we auction off to the highest bidder a ride in the plane? Or...everyone puts in five dollars for a ticket, whoever gets drawn gets to go for a ride."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Yeah, there we go. We'll have to take it easy, though...G Forces are still a thing, and we'll want to avoid those. But for the lucky winner of that...they'd remember that experience forever." This idea's starting to take better shape now. Hal's grateful Carol was into the idea enough to modify it into something that could really work. He doesn't want to do all of his helping of people with just the ring. He wants to help as plain old Hal too.

Carol Ferris has posed:
"Just a quick loop around, maybe a roll....nothing too fast. Of course we'll have to get the winner to sign a waiver for any potential injuries or illness...I can get the lawyers to work it up, should be standard." Carol reaches into her pocket to pull out her phone so that she can shoot off a text regarding it, "You in contact with the right people to make the offer?"

Hal Jordan has posed:
Hal's starting to see this plan come together. And they're going to be able to do it now. This is great. And he's smiling wider now. "Yeah, actually, I do know where to go to set this up as far as hosting and such. I just wanted to clear it with you before I made any offers that are technically on you to fulfill." He can't do something like this on his own.

Carol Ferris has posed:
"Reach out, then. Make the offer to them...see if they give us the okay, and I'll make sure that the simulators and the planes are there.." Carol replies as she taps out a message on the phone, then she sends it before setting it down on the table. When she looks back up and notices the change in the smile it causes a reaction in her, a smile spreading across her face in answer, "You've got the go-ahead."

Hal Jordan has posed:
Bingo. "Got it. I'll get right on that." Because this has suddenly become a great day. And Hal suddenly speeds up his devouring of sandwich and finishes his drink, motivated to get out there and do some good in the world. Better, good that didn't rely on his green ring. "We should have lunch more often." Particularly if it leads to awesome stuff like this.

Carol Ferris has posed:
There is a brief moment where she doesn't say anything to that, instead she just watches him with a curious expression on her face as thoughts float through her head. Then she snaps out of it, shaking her head before taking a final bite from her sandwich, picking up her napkin to wipe her hands and mouth before she starts to get to her feet, "You know where to find me for lunch, Hal."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"...Well. That's my fault. I get busy." He looks away for a while. "Got a lot of stuff to do..." And he's gonna be forever busy doing those things. There's always another villain out there. But...now that he said that, his mind wanders a little, before getting focused again. "And those sound like terrible excuses. I'll make it happen next time."

Carol Ferris has posed:
"They are terrible excuses, Hal." Carol frowns just a moment before the expression fades to something more understanding of the entire thing, like somehow, despite how terrible the excuse real is, she //does// understand it. "But, things happen, and we all get busy. It's just..."

It's just what? Carol never finishes the thought, instead she clears her throat, switching topics, "So you'll let me know when the event will be, won't you? I'll need it all on paper as well."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Yeah. I'll let you know." That's the thing he can be surest of, of all the things that are going on here. Paperwork? Hal hates paperwork. Thankfully, Oan paperwork isn't paper at all, and it's submitted by the Ring automatically. Amazing how much of his day that saves. "The papers, too."

Carol Ferris has posed:
"Good." Carol replies with a nod, tucking her hands into her pockets as she starts to move towards the door, pausing before she gets very far though. She glances over her shoulder, a ghost of a smile quickly appearing, then vanishing, "We should do lunch more often, though."

Hal Jordan has posed:
"Yeah. Let's...make more of an effort for that. It won't always work, but I'm pretty sure we can do better than once every few months." And then he's gotta get up and go too...plenty for him to do, ringwise and otherwise.
