Hello, Goodbye
Date of Scene: 14 July 2021
Location: Charles' Office / Classroom
Synopsis: Rahne Sinclair calls Professor Xavier to discuss leaving the mansion, and in the end she leaves him something to remember her by. Sweet scene, read with a tissue.
Cast of Characters: Rahne Sinclair, Charles Xavier

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
The phone rings. It's the middle of the night, and the phone rings. Someone who knows that Charles would still be up, still be working. Someone using Rahne's celphone. For how long it took to even get the girl to carry one, it had darn well better be her on the line.

Luckily for everyone involved, it is. She left the mansion late in the evening, and Clarice (Blink) was left flustered and confused. Perhaps this will be an elightening call after all.

Charles Xavier has posed:
Charles is in his study, he'd retired for the evening but he hadn't gone to sleep yet. He didn't need a lot of sleep, really, due to his mental abilities. So he spent the nights often reading or enjoying the relative quiet of the home at night. Tonight, his phone rings, and believe it or not he has a smart phone too. It's on the table beside his chair and he reaches over to gather it up. He looks at the ID and then answers it. "Miss Sinclair?" Charles asks over the line. "Is everything all right?" He adds further.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
HThe line is clear, and easy to hear. Unfortunately Rahne is no easier to understand than the day she arrived in America. That accent seems to be a dominant gene, though she's learned many things in her time.

"Good evenin' professor. Ah ken ye be awake still. Sorry about thait."

She doesn't sound upset. She sounds a little bit tired, but it is the night. "Ye be a good man, sor, am pretty good. Am sorry tae call this late. Es Clarice alright?"

Her normal pattern. Let the other person talk, answer their questions politely, then check on anyone who might be hurt. She wouldn't call without reason though.

Charles Xavier has posed:
Charles sits back in his chair, his eyes going forward to the opposite side of his office where he has a television on playing an old movie on TCM with the volume on low. He hears the familiar voice and the question she offers. "Clarice Fergusson?" Charles questions. "Why yes, I believe she is okay. She isn't a resident here, and I don't believe she's here now, but she does visit quite often of late, and I've not heard any reason to belive she's unwell." He offers before pausing a second.

"Has something happened?" Charles asks then next, his voice calm and generally soothing to most ears.

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There's a pause on the other end. If only she'd come in person, the whole situation could be solved quickly. But this is a phone call and thus, more difficult. "Es nothin', sir. Left her a pure lot confused when ah left, but she be safe far's ah ken it."

She could almost be seen pulling on her clothing, the sound of rumpling fabric in the background. A habit she has when she's got something on her mind. "Sir, ah'm leavin' th' school. Es time tae go make some o' my own mistakes, ah ken." She isn't asking. This is new, she's always been the polite girl, the one who asks first, who goes with others' choices.

"Ah be already gone. Actually." That part sounds like an apology. Well, some things don't change.

Charles Xavier has posed:
Charles softly nods his head out of habbit while listening to this. He reaches out to take up his glass of water off of his table in front of him and then raises it up to sip from it. When he lowers it he holds it on the arm of his chair. "You're leaving us then?" He asks. "Well that's entirely your decision to make, Miss Sinclair, I do wish you'd come to see me in person first though, but that's just that I'm... well, call me old fashioned." She says in good humor.

"You'll certainly be welcome back here whenever you'd like to visit. This is a home for you, should you ever need it, you know that, I should hope." He tries to say with a smile so it feels warm at its core. "I do certainly understand the desire to get out and experience the world on one's own, I certainly felt that way when I was young."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
There's the sound of movement on the other end, and a bit of odd sounds. Perhaps animals of some type. Rahne switched the phone to her other ear, but that's hard to see through a phone line. "Es true, sir. Ye deserve better, an' ah'll make it up tae ye someday. Left ye a birthday present in m' room, ah hope ye like et?"

She sounds like she's honestly worried, but a bit of a smile in her voice comes across. "Left in a hurry, didnae even take m' bag. Thaur be reasons, but...es jus' things. Naethin cannee be replaced."

She goes silent a moment, then sighs audibly. "Sir? I do love ye, hope ye know. Ye did good."

Charles Xavier has posed:
Charles is certainly a bit concerned about this action, but he's a big believer and not overwatching the people that stay at his home. He is worried about her, but he doesn't get the sense that she's out of her control. So for now, he's accepting what she says on word alone.

He smiles at the present bit. "Why thank you for that. I am sure I will love it, I'll make sure to send you a response once I see it first hand." The latter part of what she says there makes him smile even more.

"That is very sweet of you to say, Miss Sinclair. Your time with us has been memorable, to say the very least, and I know that with my love, you also have the love of many others here also. Please, don't hesitate to reach out to any of us for help, should you need it." He states before exhaling softly. "That being said, I am sure your'e a bit ... frayed at the edges, so to speak. Exciting to make a life change like this, I hope you at least keep us updated on how it is going too."

Rahne Sinclair has posed:
She smiles on the other end. The Professor's wish to keep in touch is so not what she was looking for, but also very much part of him. She'd almost been expecting it. "Ah'll call," she says. Simple, to the point. And a promise, something she's never once failed to keep. She's true, this one.

"Goodbye, sir. If ye need me, ah'm never too far." Then she hangs up, and the phone goes silent. Rahne Sinclair has left Xavier's, to see what she can see. To make a mistake, knowing it's wrong. To learn the things you can't learn in school.

Rahne's room is quiet, when later on Charles finds time to look. It never really looked lived-in; she didn't decorate, save for the cross on the wall and a bag of clothing left on the floor, as if dropped there. Her bed is made, the room almost a ghost already.

And sitting on the table by her bed, with a little 'happy birthday' tag, is a snow globe. Inside of it is a church, made out of plastic or some such. But the snow is blue, and as it falls?

Rain.
