Cast of Characters: Nadia Pym-van Dyne, Shuri

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
At the appointed hour Nadia Pym-van Dyne arrives outside of the Wakandan embassy in her civillian clothes, a black and red plaid skirt and a T-shirt reading 'Just a Girl Who Loves Hornets!' . The gate guards already know her by now and vice versa. She gives them a smile and a wave addressing them informally by name before being shown inside.

"Really though, I think you should just ask her, what's the worst that could happen?!" Nadia calls back to one of the guards giving them a big grin and a thumbs up before strolling up to the information still wearing the same big cheerful grin.

"You're here to see Shuri, aren't you?" The woman behind the desk asks Nadia before she even gets to say anything. This isn't the first time or even the tenth.

"Yes, I am!" Nadia chirps, getting a weary smile from the woman. "Can you call her for me please?" They've been through this many times, before Nadia even asks the woman behind the desk has already begun paging Shuri that Nadia is here ..again.

Shuri has posed:
The receptionist sends the message through. Shuri, for her part, is very glad to have company. She rarely gets people dropping by the embassy to see her, and so it only takes a couple moments before the Wakandan princess makes her way out. She, too, is dressed casually at the moment, in a peach-colored tee with an abstract white swirl on it, white denim jeans, and black high-top sneakers.

"Nadia! Please, come on in." There's a smile on her face that she can't hide, and she'll gesture for her friend and teammate to follow her in towards the inner chambers the public doesn't get access to, as she heads towards her suite.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Shuri gets a hug, because everyone gets a hug with Nadia. "Shuri! Hi!" She gives a cheerful wave back to the receptionist before follow Shuri deeper into the restricted parts of the embassy.

Nadia stretches her hands upward briefly as she walks along behind Shuri looking at the embassy's African decor. She never gets tired of this place and its wonders, probably a side effect of growing up in a Soviet bunker. "Sooo.." She begins as if debating how to broach the topic, "You know Steve's friend James Barnes?"

Shuri has posed:
Well, straight and direct certainly IS one way to broach the topic. Shuri stops, as she walks into her room a few feet, and turns, lifting an eyebrow. "Yes?..."

The question is left there to hang. Shuri knows Nadia's one of the few people out there who could puzzle it out, but she's also a teammate. Surely it's GIRLs before boys.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia comes to a stop when Shuri turns, awkward. "Well Steve brought him to me wanting me to fix his arm," She pauses as her brain tries to sort through what bits of a very long and complicated story are actually relevant.

"So, I did. While I was doing it though, I found a bunch of unrelated monitoring tech that looked a whole lot like your tech in there and they said he knew you. Actually Steve told him we were friends to try and put him at ease, though it actually seemed to make him nervous still. Anyway I didn't tell him about it but wanted to ask you what was going on?" It all comes out in one long stream, as Nadia is prone to when excited or flustered.

Shuri has posed:
Shuri groans a moment, and pinches the bridge of her nose. She does that a lot when Bucky is involved. "That thing is an antique. He needs to let me redesign it and come up with something that isn't twice as old as I am." She moves over to a little minifridge in her room. "Something to drink?" she offers, taking out a bottle of water for herself.

A long pull of the water later has given her a moment of composure to cover the issue. "It is my tech. Sergeant Barnes saved my life once. So in the beginning, I felt an obligation to help him. Of course, he is also thick-headed, self-destructive, and has more issues than National Geographic. So, I feel a need to help keep an eye on him so that he doesn't get himself killed. Even WITH the tech, it has almost happened multiple times."

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
"I'd love one!" Nadia smiles gladly accepting a bottle of water. She can't help but nod in agreement as Shuri describes Bucky's arm as an antique, she basically told him as much herself.

"It definitely needs a rework." Nadia agrees. "Actually speaking of the issues, I offered to work it over with a new miniturized powersource and install a high powered laser because lasers are cool. He even agreed lasers are cool, but refused because he was deathly afraid he'd hurt someone with it."

Nadia stops and takes a long swallow of her own water while she gathers her thoughts. "I'm not sure how much you know, but James and I have a long history. Only he wasn't James at the time, he was The Winter Soldier. He is the earliest memory I have, I don't remember my own birth mother, but I remember him bringing me to the Red Room. That wasn't James though, Department X and Hydra did that to him. So, I helped him and he's making some progress now. Cochlear implants that filter out the command words connected to his brainwashing. But it comes at the cost of intense pain and he still really needs a permanent solution. Still, it's progress, he actually smiled and gave me a hug." At some point Nadia probably had a point to this story but it seems to have become somewhat lost in the telling.

"Anyway, I put a quantum tracker in there too if I'm being completely honest." Nadia admits. "You're not wrong about any of it, I think he's making progress though, good progress. OH! And he's ready to have his arm overhauled or even replaced. Want to work together? I think we could make something really cool. You want to help him because he saved you. I want to save him, like I always wished someone would save me. He had it much worse than I did. Let's help him together!" It is sometimes a long road with Nadia getting to something resembling the point, but she does get there in the end.

Shuri has posed:
Shuri hands over another bottle of water to Nadia, and nods /emphatically/ in agreement. "THAT is something. And I think we could do a fabulous design together. Honestly, my brain is already spinning thinking about the possibilities." Shuri's Wakandan tech + Nadia's quantum tech + Vibranium is a match made in heaven. "Really, we should probably pin him down and make him agree before he changes his mind. Metaphorically speaking, of course."

She can't help but smirk at Nadia admitting she put her own tracker in there. More evidence in her corner against Gun Stripper; sometimes Buckys need babysitting.

Nadia Pym-van Dyne has posed:
Nadia gladly takes the second bottle of water, bouncing up and down now. She is excited, which granted is a pretty normal state for her, but now she is /very/ excited! "YES! I love it! So many possibilities!" She has seen what vibranium can do, as well as the tech miracle that is GIRL's in progress spaceship, a singular achievement of the combination of some of the greatest young female minds in the world.

Eventually she settles down a bit though there's a solid minute or two of actual bouncing before it simmers down to nigh bouncing. "He shouldn't be too hard to pin down. I mean his arm /is/ full of tracking tech." She grins. "Let's go find him!"
