Date of Scene: 31 July 2021
Location: Addams Estate
Synopsis: Bobbi and Lance enjoy a beautiful sunset over the lake from the backyard of their new home.
Cast of Characters: Bobbi Morse, Lance Hunter

Bobbi Morse has posed:
They haven't exactly moved in yet. But the bare essentials are there. Rugs, bed, kitchen utensils. Chairs to sit on out the back as the sun sets over the lake. Bobbi takes a sip of her whisky and sets it down on the small camping table they have set up next to them.

"Home sweet home," she says observing the way the oranges and yellows dance over the water. "We did it. We stopped them. Their magnum opus, in tatters." She waxes lyrically and then takes another sip, her other hand reaching out to hold his.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter is leaning back in his chair with his legs stretched all the way out, a hand resting behind his head, while his sunglasses borrowed from his kit for the Iron Fortitude op, reflect back the colours of sunset.

"Magnum opus? Feeling fancy tonight I see," he teases gently. "But I'll drink to that," he adds taking a deep pull from his glass and smiling. "And to not having to live in the real version of HYDRA-land. We did good work," he says. "Tell anyone and I'll deny it but I'm actually kinda proud to be in SHIELD right now."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi gives his hand a squeeze and grins over at him. "I knew it." His admission of being proud to be SHIELD just makes the moment even sweeter for her. "One of us.. one of us.." she taunts. Another sip is taken. A triangular sail cuts through the sun at its bottom as the boat glides over the water.

"We have a lot of work to do still. But I think I've earned my time off. The last thing I want to do is go spelunking in snake mountain to show Talbot what HYDRA Academy was all about. Someone else can do that. I've been there, I've lived that already."

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter chuckles glancing over at her, "I will definitely deny it, don't test me," he says laughter in his voice. "But it's good to know I'm working with the good guys again.

He takes a sip of his own drink watching the boat sail by. "A field trip with Talbot to a secret HYDRA mountain? Who wouldn't jump at that chance," he says with heaps of sarcasm. "I'd say we stick Coulson with it but," he wiggles a hand. "Hope he'll be okay," he adds with genuine concern. "Anyhow glad we got this done and everyone made out more or less intact, even that Inhuman from the building. They going to take him to your people's new home?"

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi smiles, "Now you want me to keep secrets? Oh the irony." She chuckles with his laughter. "We were always the good guys Lance. Just that HYDRA dug its claws in deep before any of us even got there." A longer sip of the whiskey as she remembers the look on Whitehall's face as she denied him his life extension serum in the carved out mountain base overlooking angry seas.

She knocks back the glass and pours another. "I haven't seen Phil yet. I'm not sure I'm his favourite agent right now. Not after I had to tell him to his face that something was classified, level 10. The stare he gave me. I felt it right in my bones. He was never my main commanding officer, that was always Gonzales.. but still, you hate to let the guy down, ya know?"

She turns her head and nods to the man next to her, "Yep. Off to New Afterlife with the rest of them so Jiaying and her people can work their magic heart healing." A small smirk. It sounds so new-age but it's all real.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter laughs, "Oh come on, I've always encouraged keeping secrets from other people," he protests with a smile. "And true but even being the good guys doesn't always feel like being good guys but today did, plain and simple, we beat the bad guys and saved the day," he says. "A guy could get used to that." he says.

"He'll forgive you, I'm sure he's done that to a bunch of agents, and it's not like you can classify things level 10 on your own, you're just passing down Fury's orders, you'd think a company man like Coulson would know not to take it personal. But I get not letting him down, he's a good guy mostly, and by the sound of it he's really got an itch to see that machine we nicked from the army."

"And good, not sure about this heart healing thing, but he should be with his people to help him shake that HYDRA stuff."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"I love you Lance," Bobbi says with a small smile not immediately answering his words. The whiskey returns to her lips and she sips. The sail boat has made it across the giant sun backdrop finally and the sun is halfway set now. "I need to spend more time with my people too. I did things today that I didn't know I could do. If I've.. hurt Daisy.. I need to fix it."

"And I want to fix my heart. Today instead of giving me heart attacks it manifested in my Inhuman power and cleared right up. I've never felt anything like it. I think I can fix it, but I might need to go through terrigenesis in the real world... not just in the virtual."

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Love you too Bobs, always have," he tells her taking off his shades to look at her for a moment so she can see his words reflected in his eyes.

He smiles, "Figured you would and I /definitely/ like the idea of getting your heart fixed, you know how I worry," he says. "So you think your powers can fix it?" he asks. "Or is that one of the reasons to go, so you can find out?" the rest sort of answers that question. "I'm not sure if it'll fly with Daisy's mum, but if you're going to go through that again, hell actually all of it, I'd like to be there. That said I'll understand if they don't want a human just hanging around their place, given current events."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
"Hm. I'll make it one of the requirements of me joining them," Bobbi says with a small smirk. "Either they take us both or not at all. Besides, I know they think they need me. And may be they do. They need SHIELD just as much and look how they've started working with us. We've shown them we can be trusted."

She raises her eyebrows and says, "Do you remember us five years ago?" When you have two lives worth of memories you tend to reminisce more than most, "We were so good at saying hurtful things to each other."

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter smiles, "Package deal, huh? Sounds good, I'll promise to be on my best behavior," he says and actually sounds like he means it. "And good they're learning to trust, they're going to need our help for a bit and vice versa, it makes sense to keep working together, to say nothing of letting you get to know your people better."

That last comment though bring a bit of reflective silence to Hunter before he nods "We were, don't really know why we took the gloves off like that back then, but it wasn't our finest moment."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
She rubs her thumb against her wedding ring, twirling it around on her ring finger as her other hand brings the whisky back for another long sip. "So..." she asks letting it linger in the air for a while.

"Do you trust me now?" Bobbi asks the hard question. Secrets. SHIELD. Priorities. The things that always messed up their relationship in the past. They got married, but they still haven't put these issues to bed.

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Oh boy," Hunter says at that lingering silence, though it's not tinged with anything but gentle humour and no bunching of his shoulders or defiant tilts to his head like he was getting ready for a fight.

"Yes," he answers simply. "I wouldn't be putting this on if I didn't," he says his hand going to his own ring. "I've always loved you Bobs, but before I don't think I really understood what it was, not really, love I mean. Then somewhere along the way it just? clicked. So, yeah, I trust you Bobs, that's part of what love is about and I think probably more than our lack of it was a little bit of the reason we were such a disaster to begin with." Or you know, a big part of the reason. "Sorry for my end of that Bobs, we wasted a lot of time where we could have been better people to each other."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
A smile dances over her lips and she turns in her chair to look at him. A finger is lifted and waggles back and forth between them both, "It takes a duo to be that much of a shit storm. I'm sorry too." She raises an eyebrow at the very very public breakdowns of their relationship over the years - to the point where Mac declared Bobbi was not to talk about Lance around him ever again until 'you get your shit together girl'.

"That reminds me, we should invite Mac to the house warming." She grins a prize winning grin at Lance for a moment wondering if she can get Hartley to come too. The whole team that bamboozled him way back when he was in British STRIKE.

"Just remember if I'm keeping secrets, it's not about us - ever. Not Fury nor Carter could make me and if they tried I'd quit." She looks back out over the mostly sunken sun, the darkness settling in over their land and home. One of the puppies jumps up in to her lap and she gently pats Jacob while taking another sip of her whiskey. "Hey lil buddy, where's your sister hmmm?"

Lance Hunter has posed:
"You're not wrong, we were both idiots," Hunter says before he adds. "So, what do you say? Forgive each other and move on?" he asks her.

He pulls a face at the mention of Mac. "Yeah? we sort of put him in the middle of a lot of that didn't we? Definitely invited, he doesn't even have to move or help assemble furniture, despite being you know about as tall as our house and an engineer," he adds with a grin. "I say bring them all. I miss Hartley."

The arrival of Jacob is met with a grin and he reaches over to rub his head. "Yeah, I know, nature of our work, as long as we're open about the rest of it, the stuff we can be, I think we'll be fine," he says. "And where /is/ she, or rather which room will we find in tatters today?" he grouses good naturedly.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi shrugs, "Speak for yourself. I was perfectly adult about everything always." A sly little smile as she rubs the puppy's ears. But the truth is, she has learnt to use her words instead of going cold and quiet on him. Bobbi makes kissy noises to Jacob and chuckles.

"Nuh uh. If Mac is coming he's assembling that big desk in the study," she says having already put thought in to this. "Hartley can set up darts in the garage so she doesn't get the urge to throw knives."

Bobbi calls out, "Nooooona." It's been a struggle to get the puppies to respond to their names. But the inviting sound of her voice has the second little puppy running out to meet them. She collides awkwardly in to Bobbi's thigh. Bobbi passes Jacob over to Lance and scoops up Nona.

The last few inches of the sun are disappearing over the horizon. "Should we get the fire going tonight do you think?"

Lance Hunter has posed:
"Of course," Hunter says chuckling as he rolls his eyes. Though the kissy noises make him smile, "And I see got it all planned out, can't say I disagree about either. As long as Hartley's not throwing darts near where Mac's doing the desk you know he gets when people distract him while he's working, likely end up with the desk in the lake," he says.

Jacob is taken into his lap and given a good scritch behind the ears. "Who's a good boy?" he asks, leaning over to kiss Jacob's forehead an get a lick across the cheek in return. Lance laughs and squirms before he shakes his head and sets the puppy back in his lap.

"A fire sounds good, just us and the 'kids'" he nods to the dogs, "While we polish off that bottle."

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi raises an eyebrow, "Just?" She peers at him, "You've forgotten Marblympics starts again tonight." She sits up in the chair and rises, "Come now Mr. Addams," she says playfully and clicks her fingers twice on both hands. "I'll get the fire wood and you make the cheese platter." She also hands him Nona. The scotch is knocked back quickly as she pats her pocket for the keys to the garage where the firewood is currently being kept.

Lance Hunter has posed:
Hunter grins, admitting, "Forgot about that." Marblelypics and all.

He rises with her, "Yes, Mrs. Addams?" he asks with a grin. "Sounds like a plan," he says taking Nona and heading towards the door inside, stage-whispering to the dogs. "If you're good a little bit of cheese might slip off the platter he tells them, before pausing at the door to look back at Bobbi. "Love you Bobs, be right back" he tells her with a smile before he's letting the dogs down and herding them inside.

Bobbi Morse has posed:
Bobbi smiles after the man and says, "Don't die in there okay?" She heads off to the garage to get the firewood. She's better at lugging heavy things than 99.999% of the population these days after all.
