=Bugs and Marvels
Date of Scene: 01 April 2020
Location: Battery Park City
Synopsis: =Lady Shazam goes to check on Blue Beetle after his meltdown, finds him dancing.
Cast of Characters: Ted Kord, Mary Bromfield

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord sits in the Bug, hovering off Manhattan adn watches the boats and ships in the harbor sailing by. Too quiet. He flips through a menu of music he called up, decides on the Dropkick Murphys.

Ted Kord is a positive person. Seriously positive. In a minute he's nodding his head to Warrior's Code. Then his feet are stamping and then... he gets up, and places his BB gun on a seat, making sure its safeties are on. He starts headbanging and air guitaring to the music. After all, there's no one up here.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Well, the hazards of flying a giant blue bug in New York City is that someone's //going// to notice you. In this case, Lady Shazam, having seen Ted's flashback earlier as her mild-mannered (yet well tipped) alter ego... well, after her shift she went looking for him. After all, a blue flying Bug is hard to miss.

So she hovers by the window and... well, she bites her lip to keep from laughing, though the smile is genuine enough. Quickly though, she darts to the side and knocks politely on the side-hatch. Shave and a haircut... followed by her voice, "Ah, Mr. Kord? This is Lady Shazam, I was wondering if you had a moment?"

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord opens the hatch with a flood of industrial rock tinged with bag pipes. He sees Lady Shazam, checks to make sure he's still airborne. "Uh one second please..." He withdraws into the Bug and the music stops. Ted returns to the hatch and says, "Please come in. Take a load off... Nice to see you again. What can I do for you, Lady Shazam?"

The Bug's interior is well lit and sort of cozy away from the controls.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Lady Shazam steps into the Bug lightly, and hmms, "Well, I was in the neighborhood, and thought I would see how you were doing." She pauses, then adds, "It isn't too often you see a bright blue Bug hovering near Battery Park, after all." Though, her eyes do seem to reflect some additional concern.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord shrugs. "It depends on the time of year. One year, I snuck into the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Here have a seat. Can I offer you tea, coffee, sparkling water?" He quickly grabs the BB gun from the seat and stows it in a locker before she can sit on it. "Is there... something I can do for you?"

Ted swivels the copilot chair around to face Lady Marvel, wondering at the change in demeanor.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Lady Shazam smiles, "Ah, tea is fine, thanks. And well, no... I..." She coughs, and looks a bit sheepish, "I just wanted to make sure you were okay. I mean, I understand what happened to you a few years ago. Well, I don't understand it, but I'm aware of it, so I... just wanted to see if there's anything you needed?"

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord peers and says, "Did someone file a complaint about me? Did a certain angel-faced barista report me? What did you hear?" He hits a button and produces a covered cup of tea, "Milk, sugar, lemon, honey?"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
A soft laugh at that, "Nothing so severe, but... well, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a bit worried. Though I've found the Dropkick Murphys are a good cure for such that ails you." Lady Shazam tilts her head and regard Ted, crossing her legs demurely in her seat, very properly and all, "Milk and honey, please."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord doctors the tea and holds it out to her. "You weren't worried about me yesteerday... even when I threatened Bea with my walrus imitation and those straws. I can't think of anything I did wrong last night at the party I attended. That leaves this morning. I flipped at someone imitating a Doombot. Went to Code red Alert, drew the BB gun and all that. Well in my defense... I was aiming the BB gun at the ceiling and... it was set on strobe. So people would be dazzled by a flash for a few seconds. No one was in physical danger. though I guess I could be sured for it. Be careful, the tea is hot. Oh. Well be careful anyway."

Ted seats himself, turning the pilot chair to face back like hers. "It was nice of you to check up on me. I still want to know who told you... ah never mind. Secrets are secret for a reason. I know. Anyway it was nice of you to check on me. Is a hug of appreciation out of line? Your big brother won't mind, will he?"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Lady Shazam smiles, "It's not a problem, and you can definitely have a hug, Ted." She leans over and does, in fact, give Ted a hug, looking at him with a heartfelt expression. "And I'm glad you're feeling better, though... have you, well, talked to anyone about this? I mean, not your friends like Bea or the others, but like, well, a professional?"

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord looks her in the eyes and says, "I've talked, plenty to professionals. I just get moments where I get very defensive. I have not had one in a long time. I mean... that monster gave me a six inch scar on my scalp. Here-feel!" He takes her hand and puts it on the back of his head. If she lets him.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Lady Shazam could pull away, but frankly she's a bit too surprised, and wows at the scar, "Oh my... I'm..." She blushes a little, "I have to be honest, I'm very impressed by your courage. I mean, I'm as strong as a Kryptonian, so I wouldn't hesitate to fight such a monster, but being only human and still going in as you did..." She trails off, but smiles a bit, "You definitely have the Courage of Achilles."

Mentioning how Achilles really //hates// that comparison is not something she decides is necessary here. The Tact of Athena fits in there somewhere, no doubt.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord's eyes light up. He grins and suddenly says, "Now I know your secret. I know where I knew that little girl from the coffee shop this morning! I saw her on a video that went viral. She was hugging your brother at the Statue of Liberty. You guys know her! That's how you knew to come running... errr flying. Listen, tell you brother for me... I could see how a friendly hug can be misunderstood... video can be taken out of context. I don't think he was doing anything wrong... " Suddenly he realizes he has one arm on Mary's waist and is holding her hand with the other. He lets go, and looks out the cockpit with an expression of dread. Nope, Shazam is not looking in. "Sssssorry but, case in point!"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Lady Shazam does, to her credit, blush a bit as she then says, "Oh, yes, she's a friend of the family. And yes, she texted me since well, she was worried about you." She smiles a bit, "But she'll be relieved to know that you're doing better, Ted. And I'll make sure to convey that to my brother, as... well, yes, he was a bit abashed by that." She chuckles faintly, and shrugs, "It can be a bit awkward sometimes, especially when people don't know all the facts."
