Date of Scene: 24 December 2021
Location: A Dive Bar in Gotham
Synopsis: Jennifer and Sunny meet in a not-so-nice bar in Gotham.
Cast of Characters: Jennifer Kale, Sunrise Aberdeen

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer Kale doesn't get to Gotham very often, but this was an unusual opportunity. It's the end of the semester and she's actually passing two of her classes! Okay, so two out of five, but that's not bad, right? To celebrate, she let a couple of girlfriends talk her into catching a cab across the river into Gotham to hit a couple of clubs.

Because Gotham is known for its clubs, right? Sure.

So now Jen finds herself in a bar with bad lighting and even worse smells. Mostly stale beer, smoke, and sweat, but that's as far as she really wants to know at this point. One of her friends is puking in the bathroom with the other one helping out.

This wasn't Jen's idea, so she felt no obligation to participate in the process. Sitting at the otherwise-empty 4-top, she settles back a little and looks around the place to do a little people-watching.

Sunrise Aberdeen has posed:
The door to the bar's kitchen swings open, and out slips Sunrise. She steps in and glances about to make sure nobody is looking directly at her before she slips further in. The girl likely snuck in through the back. She tucks a locke of light blonde behind one of her ears as she slowly turns, taking the dingy, dirty place in. After a moment the girl nods to herself, as if satisfied with what she sees. It suits her needs pretty well.

She's wearing scuffed, worn jeans and pink Converse with holes in them, along with a faded Smashing Pumpkins shirt under a battered jean jacket. She moves to the bar and slides up onto a stoop near Jen.

She catches the eye of the bartender and offers a smile. "Hey! Um. Coors Light?" The guy squints at her and then shrugs, turning to pour a glass and set it in front of her.

The pale girl seems to be in no rush to drink, though.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jennifer's peripheral vision catches movement. Oh ho... underage girl sneaking in the back? At least she assumes the girl is underage, because the skinny blonde certainly looks like it. Jen's upper lip twitches but she stifles the grin as she rises.

What the hell... might as well have some fun with this.

Jen is wearing low-rise bellbottoms, the button open enough to show a glimpse of black fabric beneath. Her top is cropped with short sleeves that show the dragon tattoo on her let arm and a plunging neckline.

Stepping up to the bar, she rests and elbow close to the other blonde. "Can I get another beer?" she asks, before turning to look up at the taller girl.

Sunrise Aberdeen has posed:
The voice brings her attention, and the pale teen glances aside at Jennifer. Her bright blue eyes dip over her before she flashes a small smile. "Hey. I'd offer to pay for it, but I can barely pay for my own drink." She laughs and shrugs a skinny shoulder. She cocks her head a bit to the side, not quite taking her eyes off of Jennifer.

"You look -way- too hot to frequent a place like this..." She glances at the bartender, briefly. "Nothing personal." And back to Jennifer. "So, what's the story, hmm?"

She still doesn't make a move to actually drink her own drink, like it's just there for company.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jen lifts a blonde brow at the compliment, but she also laughs softly as well. "Thanks. I'm actually here with a couple of friends who are, um, giving back some beer in the bathroom." Shifting a little, she faces Sunrise more directly and finds herself still looking up.

Her voice lowers, then. "Look, it doesn't matter to me either way, but you got in and you got served. More power to ya' there. I can cover my own tab, though."

The bartender sets a bottle in front of Jen and she gives him a nod.
"I'm Jen, by the way."

Sunrise Aberdeen has posed:
She shrugs a bit at that and grins softly, brushing it off. She runs her fingers back through her light colored hair and then turns to fully face her as well. Knees touch knees. "Aaaaaah, gotcha. Yeah, I've never been in here, myself. Hell, it's my first night in Gotham." Her accent certainly isn't local. Midwest, maybe?

The teen considers the introduction before she nods and grins wider. "Sunrise. You can call me Sunny, if you want. Most people find it easier."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jen doesn't recoil from the proximity, running fingers through her own, blonde curls almost absently. "First night in Gotham? And you're in here?" Her nose wrinkles. "I'd almost suggest you start again, but since you're already here..."

"Okay, Sunny. So what bring you this far East? If you don't mind my asking."

Sunrise Aberdeen has posed:
"My van," she says with a lopsided grin. She shakes her head, then. "Sorry, total boomer joke. Not funny at all." She shrugs and leans to the side, resting against the bar counter as she watches the shorter, but older looking girl. "Nothing, really. Just been on the road for awhile...existing. Taking life as it comes, I guess. Wishing I was Kerouac or some shit. But, y'know, less Catholic and less homophobic and closeted."

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jen raises the bottle to her lips, taking a slow swig while keeping her gaze on Sunny. She grins. "Well Gotham has a big Italian population, but it -is- less homophobic." Jen quips back. Lowering her voice again, she leans in closer and offers. "There are better places to pick up girls, though. This place isn't exactly a tourist hot-spot."

Sunrise Aberdeen has posed:
She grins ruefully and softly whispers back, "Right, but it woulda been harder to sneak into a good hot spot." She laughs, then, and arches an eyebrow. "You an expert on picking up girls?," she asks, curiously.

The girl finally turns to pick up her beer, but before she sips it she ends up setting it down again, as if distracted by the conversation.

Jennifer Kale has posed:
Jen grins up at Sunny, then. "Let's just say it's not my first rodeo. And I've been in a lot worse places than this, believe it or not." And yet she doesn't seem uncomfortable at all being functionally alone.

Two girls make their way to the table, then, one leaning heavily on the other. Jen lifts a finger to Sunny, then steps over to talk with the others. After a moment the other two head towards the door and Jen returns to the bar.

"Lightweight."
