Cast of Characters: Mary Bromfield, Ted Kord

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Well, it's not quite as busy as it was yesterday morning. At least, not that many superheroes anyway. Mary did have a good time yesterday, despite the small scare... of course, a crazy amount of tips do help that.

Even if a fair amount of those tips were blown by a celebratory lunch after her shift was done. But still, even with that it was still a great day.

Currently, Mary is being cheerful and buoyant, but not too much so... well, depending on the level of caffeine required by the incoming customers. Though now with it being mid-morning, business has definitely slowed down a tad.

Ted Kord has posed:
Out on the street there is a minor commotion as people stop and look up. Odd behavior for New Yorkers, especially in Manhattan. The Blue Beetle descends on his trapeze and drops the last few feet. In his hands he bears a large shopping bag with a blue and black "KC". The Beetle enters the store and waves a small white flag. "Peace! Pax! Shalom! I come bearing gifts. Noice stuff too!" He gives a hopeful smile.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary blinks in surprise, but smiles warmly at Ted, "Oh, hey, how are you doing?" She looks a bit concerned, but not at what Ted will do, so much as how he's doing himself. Since, well, yesterday was definitely hard on him.

Faye does get a very stern look from Mary, before the barista turns back towards Ted, "Wait, gifts? You didn't have to do that..." She's not going to say no, though...

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord waves that off. "... maybe not had to as much as wanted to. Here, one for you, one for the little lady growling at me over your shoulder." He produces two boxes from the bag, shape and size of smart phone boxes. "These are headless handsets you can plug into any existing smart phone... or flip phone. It looks hike a clunky ear piece I will admit but... this eye piece lets you choose items off a menu illuminated there. You can work any apps on your phones and either by blinking or voice command. I intend to piss Karen Starr and Lex Luthor the heck off with these. They're coming out next week." He hands a box to Mary and holds one out cautiously to Faye. "Does she bite? She played a real mean Doombot."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary gives Faye a wry look, then grins at Ted, "Actually we think she might //be// a Doombot, jury's still out." Faye, for her part, sticks her tongue out at Mary, then goes back to work behind the counter.

But when Ted gives her (and Faye) the accessories, Mary's eyes go a bit wide, "Wow, thanks. That's... really great of you." She smiles warmly at Ted, "No, really, I mean it. This is nice." She does, however, take the box and put it safely behind the counter. Don't want to play around with it until after work.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord smiles back and says, "Thank you. You interface it with your register too, so you can operate it from anywhere in the store. It has instructions for that. I'll want some criticism if anything doesn't work but... I've used similar tech for the Bug's controls and never had a problem. Oh hey... nice pendant." He says the last softly, pointing at Mary's silver lightning bolt. Then he says, "Thanks for sending Lady Shazam. I'd prefer her to Shazam honestly. No hard feelings?" He sticks his hand out. Yes, hugs in public are out.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary smiles a bit, then blushes, "Yeah, they're... friends. So when I saw how you reacted... well, I was worried about you. She apparently knew you a little or something, so when I told her..." A bit of a shrug, "I hope I wasn't out of line there, but." She takes the handshake, giving Ted's hand a light squeeze. "I'm glad you're feeling better. And no hard feelings at all."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord asks, "Thanks. And... she told you how I liked my coffee... when I had some at Planet Herowood with her and Fire... can I ask you something Mary? I understand if you tell me to go climb a rope. In fact, I have my own rope outside. Anyway, Lady Shazam... is she seeing anyone? I think she's really sweet. I would like to see her socially. Maybe bust some crooks even. She could beat up Darkseid and I could hold her purse or earrings."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
It's a good thing Mary has a pretty good poker face, because... um, yeah. Still, she manages to keep a bit of a straight face, "Oh, well, yeah, she's definitely popular, though I... don't know if she's dating anyone. I guess I could ask her... I mean, she's pretty amazing, isn't she?" She doesn't sound terribly enthusiastic though, probably gets that a lot from people that know she knows the heroine.

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord nods and says, "I'm sure she'll make time from moving continents for a nerd in a bug suit. I get it. You're pretty amazing yourself. I mean the way you handled things yesterday and memorizing my order. You're a fantastic barista. You keep an eye on the little details, which insure the big details work out. All that and besides this job, school I'm guessing? If you were a little older, I'd ask you out. No offense but I'm old enough to be your... uncle. Young uncle?"

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary blushes at that, then nods, "Yeah, just started college at Empire State, plus I'm trying to become a journalist, so... been doing a little bit of side reporting when I can. Keeps me pretty busy." She grins ruefully, "My WOW friends are threatening to boot me if I keep missing raids, but fortunately it hasn't gotten beyond the joking about it phase yet."

Ted Kord has posed:
Ted Kord smirks. "WoW oh... yes I have been out of circulation for a bit. Uhm, I can check with some friends about an internship for you. I better go. I have to meet with my lawyers and have them yell at me."

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary smiles, "Oh, um, internship? Well, sure, that'd be great, but I mean, you don't have to..." She nods, "I'd say have a good time, but well... if you're meeting with lawyers 'hope you survive the experience' seems more fitting." A cheerful grin and a wave as Ted leaves.
