From behind the two-way mirrored glass, Harvey Dent watches the interrogation unfold. Arms folded and chin supported by a pair of knuckles, Gotham City's District Attorney considers the situation on the other side of the glass.

It's been six hours, but the pair of GCPD detectives haven't relented in their questioning of Raymond 'Nine Lives' Russo. Throughout most of the interrogation the older of the two detectives, Detective Piper, has sat quietly, taking notes. It's the much younger of the two, Detective Armstrong, that has been at times acting as a confidante and potential friend, before being rather blunt and straightforward with Russo. From discussing the seized shipment of drugs which resulted in Russo's arrest at the scene, the probability of conviction, and more. At one point Detective Piper chimes in from his quiet note-taking to ask, "Ray? How many lives you figure you got left? You're on what, six, seven? Sooner or later you're going to need to retire to the quiet life of witness protection. I ain't saying be a snitch; I'm saying look out for you and yours..."

The room has the faint fragrance of mildew mixed with decades worth of panic sweat that seems as though its permeated every surface after so many years. The ceiling fan overhead has a faint squeak during those brief moments of silence, amid the shuffling of papers and quiet slurping of coffee. The chairs aren't torture, but they ain't comfortable either. Overall, it's a pretty shitty place to spend your morning.

It's when Russo's family is mentioned well into his interrogation and his four children growing up with a father that's locked up at Blackgate that Russo's indifferent approach to interrogation suddenly comes apart at the seams. He doesn't become a blubbering mess, much to his credit. He doesn't begin begging the mercy of his interrogators or whatever asshole's watching from the other side of the glass. No, it's something much more direct and focused than all of that which suddenly overtakes Raymond: negotiation.

"Alright," Raymond finally speaks with a tone bordering on resignation, "I'll talk to you about a deal coming up. The Boss has some weapons being exchanged. I want it in writing though that I'll get probation out of this, it's not like I was packing the barrels full of stuff. I just happened to be on the bridge of the ship..."

Dent watches on from behind the glass as more and more details are divulged. While there's the underlying sense that 'Nine Lives' Russo is holding back, Harvey's satisfied enough for the time being. It's another step in wrapping Maroni up in chains for good and potentially a step toward even bigger fish.

It'll do for now.
