Long ago, in ancient times, the demon called Asa was forced to swear the Hippocratic Oath,
thus binding her to an eternity of healing. Through the ages she has roamed the world, being where
she is needed the most, healing people and other beings from both mundane and magical illnesses,
injuries and other maladies. Most recently she has possessed the dying Alice Winter as her host,
saving her from a life threatening disease, and has set up residence in New York City.

Timeline:
* 1500BCE: The demon known as Asa is born.
* 400BCE: Asa is summoned to earth to torture
Apollo's son, Laodocus.
* 400BCE: Apollo gets pissed off, and forces Asa to swear the Hippocratic
Oath before himself and Panacea, thus binding her to an eternity of serving humanity as a medic, and
thus the Nightmare Nurse was born.
* 400BCE - 1966: Asa roams the world, healing the sick and
injured from both mundane and magical maladies.
* 1966: Asa, in an old and failing body becomes
the nursemaid to Alice Winter, who is rather sickly
* 1987: Alice's sickness begins to eat away
at her body, leaving at death's door. Asa, needing a new body, possess Alice.
*2011: Asa is
summoned to NYC to treat a parasitic infection from the astral plain
*2011-present: Asa decides
that she likes it here and settles down for a bit, staying in NYC unless she's needed elsewhere.

Caring:
She likes to pretend she doesn't really care about much of anybody or anything, but you can't
spend millennia helping people and healing them without a bit of compassion rubbing off on you. When
push comes to shove, she's allright.
Hedonist:
Asa enjoys the pleasure of the flesh. Very much. She's very vocal about her vices and tries to
entice people to join her.
Tease:
Asa is a tease in every sense of the word. She especially enjoys playing the seductress, and
can't turn up the opportunity to give people a little light ribbing.

Healing Magic:
Asa is a very powerful mage, specializing in the healing arts. She can cure nearly every manor
of mundane and magical sickness, disease, or injury. She can also create protective barriers and
other defensive magic as well as soul magic as long as it's beneficial to her patient. While her
focus is on healing and protection she /does/ have access to more aggressive magics, but is limited
in it's application, using it to protect and keep her patients from harm. She's also able to use her
magic to allow her to fly.
Magical Bandages:
The bandages that are wrapped around her arms are for more than show. She's able to use them
telekinetically to restrain people.
Possession:
Asa is able to possess people, granting them extended longevity and immunity to all forms of
disease and poisons. If the target is strong willed enough they will be able to exorcise her from
the body.
Tool Summoning:
Asa is able to magically create the tools and instruments one needs to treat people, being able
to summon up scalpels, forceps, etc. She's also able to use them telekinetically and can also use
them as weapons if need be.

Hospitality:
While her bedside manor is typically tactless, that doesn't mean she doesn't know how to treat
her patients with kindness and sympathy, if it would benefit them.
Mage:
Asa has a deep understanding of magic. She knows the majority of rituals, spells and curses in
order to understand what it takes to undo them or to protect her patients from them.
Medicine:
Even without her powers, Asa is a skilled medic, able to perform mundane surgeries and
treatments like any other medical specialist would.

Rod of Asclepius:
This is /the/ titular Rod of Asclepius. Sometime during the turn of the millennium it was
entrusted to her. The rod acts as both a magical battery, and as a focus for her magic, allowing her
to cure curses and illnesses that, by herself, she wouldn't have the power to overcome. She's able
to summon the rod at will from a small pocket dimension where it usually resides.

Demon:
At the end of the day, Asa is still a demon. This means that she can be summoned, banished and
exorcised against her will. Her demonic form is unmistakably non-human, which is why she chooses to
possess humans.
Hippocratic Oath:
Asa has sworn the Hippocratic Oath to the gods Apollo and Panacea. Unlike when a human swears
the Oath where it's more of a suggestion or anything, Asa is literally bound by it, unable to break
its tenants even if she tried. Note that 'First do no harm' is a later addition to the Oath and is
not bound by it. That doesn't mean she can go out and do harm willy nilly, though. It does mean that
she can use force to protect herself, her patients, and her friends and colleagues.
