The Host are those beings called angels. They are created to ensure the continuity of the universe and protect it from aberrant ideologues that might threaten the structure of the universe itself. They are at constant war with the demonic forces of Hell and intervene when mortals are threatened by those creatures.

Before even the First Firmament, there was nothing separating the Fire of Creation and the Void Realm. This interstitial space was the fundamental expression of Chaos. The Presence introduced Order into the universe and set His angels to safeguard it.

Four of that number are Archangels. Creatures of supreme willpower and purpose, the archangels command Heaven's armies and dispense the will of the Creator to the lower forms of angelic life.

Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael remain in Heaven. Their brother Lucifer Fell after defying the Creator.

Subordinate angels are given strict orders and reduced amounts of knowledge or power. Following Lucifer's fall, many angelic creatures had their independence and willpower vastly diminished. The lowest orders of Angels are practically automatons, tasked with (relatively) simple orders and directives.
