Profile
Martha Johansson came from an unhappy home, which is not that remarkable; more remarkable was running away from that home and ending up enrolled at a better school on the East Coast. Martha has the additional blessing of mutant abilities - telepathy, and the capacity to project an incapacitating 'psycho-chaff' into the minds of others. Despite a real core of what seems to be compassion for others, Martha tends to be personally withdrawn, although with key interests in topics like psionic science and metal (the music, but, the material is also cool she guesses).
Timeline
Timeline:
* 2005: Martha Johannson born, Minneapolis MN.
* 2013: Martha begins demonstrating physical mutations in the form of translucent and luminous blood, slightly impacting her complexion. In the resulting fall-out from her parents' interpersonal conflict, Martha's mother gains primary custody and remarries.
* 2015: A short-term relationship of her mother's introduces Martha to heavy metal music.
* 2017: Martha's mother remarries.
* 2018, Christmas: Martha runs away from home, leaving a note written in her own blood.
* 2019: Martha runs away to the greater New York City area, where she leveraged her mutant ability for the sake of survival, working several odd jobs in Bushwick for mediocre wages. Eventually discovered by associates of the Xavier's school due to strong telepathic potential, expressed mostly through her "Psycho Chaff" (named after a Skitzo-Frantic album from 1997).
* 2020: Enrolled in Xavier's school for gifted youngsters.

Personality
Determination:
Once Martha has made her mind up about something, she carries it through with relentless drive and focus. It is hard for her to look around or to quit while ahead (or behind), although the advantage in being able to really bear down and achieve a goal is invaluable in school... and in life.
Minnesota Nice:
Martha has been deeply acculturated in the reserved courtesy and self-effacing behavior for which the great state of Minnesota is 'famed'. This involves polite friendliness, an aversion to open conflict, and self-depreciation as well as concern for others. This often pokes out in strange ways when in contrast with her other personality aspects.
Pessimist:
Martha has strong pessimistic tendencies, tending to think bad things will surely happen and often looking on the bad side of people's behavior. While this is sometimes validated by later events, it can also cast a shadow over her relationships with others or how she understands greater reality.

Powers
Luminous Blood:
Martha's blood is a translucent pinkish fluid which fulfills all of the same functions as regular old red *homo sapiens* blood, with a few minor parameter details that don't come out to much. When oxygenated, it glows, which faintly impacts her appearance and provides an easy to use, and dramatic, luminous writing material... if you dare.
Psycho-Chaff:
Martha can project telepathic "chaff" into the minds of other people, temporarily locking them out of motor control over their bodies - and more dramatically, out of the use of superhuman and mutant abilities that they may possess. This does not affect superhuman abilities or factors which are "always on," or a natural part of the individual's body; however, it can prevent (for example) changing between several forms an individual might have, or the active maintenance of established acts of power-usage.
Martha needs to be in the general presence of the target of this ability - ten yards is a good estimate. Martha can affect one person at a time readily, and can affect two at once with great effort. ((Use of this power on other PCs is by consent only.))
Telepathy:
Martha's telepathic mutations have been trained through the Xavier institute's coursework for young psionics, developing and building control as well as ethical behavior (hopefully) for powerful and flexible mental abilities. Martha is able to read minds, project and broadcast her thoughts, create "commlinks" with other people, and communicate across the language barrier with both humanoid beings (including humans, if necessary) and higher animals with complex brains.
Some specific and common feats of telepathic power which Martha can touch on:
* Psychic Projection: Martha can enter into the mind of other people and interact with the psychodynamic 'landscape' there. This is typically just a way to have full-featured communication with people at some distance. Martha *will* not do this without permission and invitation, and *can* not do this against determined or knowing opposition, even of a non-psionic nature.
* Psychic Blast: A projection of pure psychic force that stuns someone mentally, possibly to the point of unconsciousness.
* Memory Manipulation: Martha is capable of erasing a short burst of recent memory from an individual with whom she is in contact. This is not something she has practiced often and it is limited to the last few minutes at maximum. It also tends to psychic-blast the recipient. Oops! * Suggestion: Discreetly communicating a mental idea to an individual at a key time in order to make it seem like it's a thought that they had themselves. This is typically used to distract or misdirect others and is not guaranteed to work; in some cases it may make a recipient twig to the presence of telepathic opposition. * Psychic Defense: Martha is able to channel stubbornness and sheer grit to express psychic defenses for herself or others with great alacrity and talent.
As a general rule, Martha can actively do telepathic stuff within a range expressed in tens of miles, although she can pick up strong or extremely unusual signals from further away, particularly if communicating with a more powerful telepath. This figure is likely to expand in the event of some major dedicated training or unusual life event.
Skills
Psionic Training:
Martha has studied the practice and theory of psychic abilities, which are a lot less 'para'psychological when you actually have psychic powers. She is able to compose and discipline her thoughts effectively, and understands at least the basic idea of psionic theory as best as it can be understood.
The Metal:
Martha has a systematic and wide-ranging knowledge of topics covering and pertaining to the subgenre of rock and roll music that can be classified as 'heavy metal,' including its development from the 1970s into the modern day. While Martha is relatively young, she has considered and nuanced opinions on the quality of various metal groups and the current development of the scene and its future directions. She has also learned how to do the 'black metal growl' voice.
She does not play any other instruments other than a few basic guitar chords.

Xaviers:
Martha is a formally registered student at Xavier's institute in good standing, which gives her (theoretical) access to the various educational resources there, as well as a network of peers and mentors.
Weaknesses
Oh, I'm Fine:
Between cultural background, her rearing, and the events of running away from a traumatic home, Martha is not inclined to express her own wants and needs except in trivial ways (drink orders) or with surrounding self-effacing remarks, which can come off particularly strange if she's being little miss metalhead. She is inclined to take on burdens and try to rise to meet them.
Power Limitations:
Using her psionic abilities at length can be physically exhausting to Martha, tapping the reserves of energy in her nervous system and other key parts of the body. This is particularly amplified if she is trying to signal telepathically at great distances or is in a pitched mental battle. Her body is more likely to give out than her will.
Semi-Obvious Mutant:
Martha does not give off much sign of being a mutant at a casual glance, but her blood literally glows when oxygenated and you would be amazed at how often you end up bleeding.
