Date of Scene: 15 July 2022
Location: Washington Square Park
Synopsis: Kara and Monet make peace with one another after Monet has had time to heal.
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, Kara Danvers

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It's another time in a park. Kara has agreed to another meetup with Monet. Sometime in the early afternoon, when the park is clear. The area is a shady bit with some trees around off the beaten path while the students that are at NYU for the summer are in class. M is sitting over on a bench.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara lands, and walks towards the bench. "You know, if we're going to keep this up, we'll have to find somewhere more isolated, otherwise the press is going to be all over it." she tells Monet, smiling a bit over to the other girl.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara and smile back, "I figured before we started we should.. Talk some. If you feel comfortable with it. You're scared of yourself and what you did."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara frowns a little at that. "I thought we were doing combat training, not psychoanalysis." she says, her voice just a little bit testy. She crosses her arms over her chest, body language going defensive.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara, "Yes, but we're not ready to do training today. And I also want you to be comfortable with it. Not worired that the slightest tap you'll make will risk killing me."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Believe me, after what I did, I'm pretty confident I know how much you can take." The blonde Kryptonian's voice is still tight. "I don't mind training you. I can do that just fine. But if we're not training, then why did you call me?" Clearly still on the defensive.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would glance at Kara, "I want to ensure that as my instructor you -will- be honest and put in the full effort as need be. So this is for my comfort with you as an instructor and knowing what sort of engagement we will have. So it is enusring that you will be able to perform the training to the best of your ability, which is important for me to know."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Of course I'm honest!" Kara says. She hmphs a bit. "Look. I said I'd train you; I'm here to train you. What do you /want/ from me? Yes, I'm bothered by what I did, and by the fact that it could happen again. There's nothing I can do to prevent it." She shakes her head. "But unless I'm going to lock myself up the rest of my life, I have to move on."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would look at Kara, "I want to help you. And the fact that you cannot prevent it is not something you can accept. Mentally and emotionally. It will consume you and eat you alive, leave you but a shell and helpless. That is what it has done to me when I did it." This is a rare showing of emotional vulnerability and helplessness from M. Her self loathing fully apparent.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara repeats "Like I said. What. Do. You. Want? All I can do is try to move on. But unless there's something /specific/ that you think you want me to do, I can't sit here and just try to come up with new and creative ways to say "I'm trying."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would look at Kara, "I want to help you. Because when I went through it, I had no one to do the same for me. And I have failed to do so myself. I owe you that much. I know what you have been through. I cannot help you prevent it. Merely to process it."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"So help me then. I'm scared, yes. I don't know what to do. If you have suggestions, I'm open to hear them. I can't just...get over it." Sadly her society was all about emotional repression.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "No,you cannot. Come, walk with me." She would gesture with a hand. "I understand that.. Expressing yourself is difficult. And that it is not something you are expected to do."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara sighs. "Fine. I don't see how walking is going to help anything. But let's walk. Lead on." She moves to follow, as Monet walks. "Are we walking anywhere in particular?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shake her head, "Merely through the park. And it can help with coming to terms with it and processing it. Holding things to yourself is what is expected to you and what is normal, correct? Where you are from, things were kept to yourself."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara nods. "Ok Krypton, we were expected to maintain emotional control and a level of detachment. Losing control like I did is something that would have been...unforgiveable. Even without the violence I did."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Yes. And.. You are the only one with your own background, correct? That.. Grew up on your home planet and culture."

Kara Danvers has posed:
That gets the blonde's expression to fall a bit. She doesn't like discussing this as much. "More or less. Power Girl has some similarities. But that gets...complicated." Their dynamic is NOT common knowledge. Kara looks around, still concerned at how much attention they might be generating.

"Superman was born on Krypton, but he was a baby when it was destroyed. I was sixteen." Kara explains.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "So you are alone as the survivor of your culture. For the others, it is a memory. Something archived that they have read. I.. Cannot imagine what that is like." She does not apologize. "I cannot comprehend what it is to be so alone."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara's posture is a little more tense. "Yes." Her voice is quiet. "I'm not alone, I mean, I have friends. But it...yeah. It's different."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "I understand." She would go to offer her hand over to if allowed rest it on Kara's shoulder if not pushed away.

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Not really." Kara says, but lets Monet put her hand on her shoulder. "No one does, not really. Well, not specifically. J'onn J'onzz is in a similar position. I'm not completely unique. But it is a pretty horrible position."

She pauses. "You know, I have no idea where YOU'RE from." She looks to Monet. "I don't think I could guess where, just by looking at you."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara, "I would also presume that you do.. Not talk wtih him about it. He would understand more than most if not all. I do get that it would not be something eitehr of you are comfortable with." She would close her eyes.

"I am from Morocco. It was a.. British colony. My family's lineage was that of administrators. They would help run the colony for the British. When indepdence came, they were among the elite for their position and very well off. We were not nobility, but among the wealthiest there. I wanted for nothing growing up."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"No. It's not a topic either of us want to sit around and go over." Kara does, at least, relax a little. "I'd like to say I understand that, but Krypton was really more a post-scarcity society. Wealth wasn't really a thing for us. I've /heard/ of Morocco, but that's as far as my familiarity goes."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "I can understand that. There is no reason for you to have to research it or learn of it. I have little emotional attachment to there. It is where my parents curretnly reside." The way she says that so casually implies no real attachment to them either."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Mostly...I don't know, making conversation? I really don't know you that well yet." Kara admits. "Aside from the fact that you have powers like mine, plus telepathy." She says.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara, "Understandable." She looks distant for a moment, focusing. "Would.. You like for us to get to know one another better, then?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara replies "Sounds like what you wanted earlier. You said you needed to be able to trust me. Understanding breeds trust." She shrugs her shoulders a bit. "Or have I misunderstood?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara, "Yes. I.. I would like that, if you rae comfortable with it. I am.. Sorryif I was pressuring you and it made you upset."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"It's okay. I don't always deal with emotions in the best way possible, and it makes me frustrated. So where should we start? Probably not in the middle of a park?" She asks. "I don't know what you would like to know."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would hesitantly smile, "I.. Am unsure. I did not expect things to go this far." She would take a moment to evaluate. "And yes, let us go somewhere quieter. Or do you have something you can change into quickly?" Civilian clothes. "Noone would pay attention. And I do not feel that either of us has the stomahc to start.. With anything more."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara nods. "Give me just a minute." She then takes off, flying up at such speed as to be a blur. It'll be a few minutes later when she returns, walking in, in her civilian identity. Brown hair instead of blonde. Glasses. And dressed more frumpily than the sleek blue bodysuit, she comes in as Kara Danvers, approaching Monet.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would offer ehr hand over, "This will be much simpler. Let's go and sit." She would go over towards a nearby bench after a bit of walking. "I have asked some questions of you, if you feel it is appropriate you can ask them of me." Is she teasing?

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I'm not the one with the trust issues." Kara points out, amused. She does shake the proffered hand, though. "I didn't figure you'd want to be friends after...well, after everything that happened." She admits.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shrug distantly, "Probably not." There's a bit of amusement on her face as well. "But I also would like to get to know you. And that goes both ways."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Well, let's start with an obvious one. Your powers are a lot like mine...but you're human. How does that work?" Kara asks. "I mean, it's uncanny, with the similarities."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would add, "I am mutant. Homo Sapiens Superior. A genetic offshoot and mutation that often comes with some degree of inherent abilities." Textbook answer. "My own include telepathy, limited flight and strength. Compared to you, at least. I believe my powers are to some level psionically focused on an instinctive level. Lifting myself up to fly, reinforcing my body's strength.."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara nods. "And human mutants have a variety of abilities. It's just fascinating that they parallel so closely." She looks curious. "How do you feel about being a variant of your species?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shrug over at Kara, "I feel that it is the dynamic of genetic advancement. Darwinism. Improvement over an extended era. Genes which are useful are passed along. That which improves things over time become predominant." She would shrug, "It merely is. It is.. Normal." Yup, still got ego

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara nods. "There was a time in our past when genetic purity was very much encouraged. Thankfully, I wouldn't be here if my family hadn't thrown over those ideas. Hopefully Earth learns as well. I know there's prejudice against your kind."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
That has Monet's expression turn over to sadness. "Genocide." Her tone is pained. "There are too many that would see things and seek to justify extermination. Genosha.."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Well, for what it's worth, I won't let that happen." Kara says, matter-of-factly. It might sound unrealistic, or full of hubris, but really, what unpowered military can stand up to a Kryptonian?

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod softly, "It is not something that this planet can have resolved by power and strength. It is one of the great failures of humanity.. And I suppose for many other species as well."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"I can't solve prejudice or racism, no. But I CAN prevent genocide." Kara says, determinedly. "We just have to have hope. That's what the symbol I wear means."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod at Kara, "Then tell me what it means to you." She would ask quietly. "If you do not mind. I understnad that you probably do so several dozen times a day."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Hope. That's literally what it means." Kara takes out a pen from her purse and draws the S-shield on a little notepad. "It's the crest of the House of El. My family." She explains.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Interesting. Clan symbol iconography, heraldry.." She would go quiet before she would go start on asking questions on allegorical tangents. "Go on, please."

Kara Danvers has posed:
"My father..." Her eyes get a little bright, as tears threaten her. "He always tried to help everyone. When Krypton exploded, he managed to augment the city's shields. The city and the land it was on were thrown into space. But the land was converted by the radiation into Kryptonite. My mother had a fatal dose. Father managed to organize everyone, and we all deployed lead shielding over the surface, so people would survive. Until we passed through a field of stellar debris. It punched holes in the shield. Too many."

She has a bit of a thousand yard stare. "He put me into hypersleep, in a rocket. Launched me away from Argo. It's the only reason I survived. I wear the symbol to honor him. To try to remotely live up to the kind of hero my father was."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Has she heard this before? In some form or another? Perhaps. Monet goes to watch as Kara recites her story. And tells her tale of mourning and loss. She goes to speak, quietly, "I think that they would be proud of you for what you've done and everything. Of that you have nothing to fear over."

Her tone gentle. Pain and loss on a scale she cannot imagine nor comprehend. But she is honest in her inabiliyt to do so. No weak platitudes come from her.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara does something she rarely lets herself do, then. She cries. She closes her eyes, but little rivulets still run down her cheeks. "Sorry. I--sorry. This is why I don't usually talk about this. And they would be ASHAMED of me, for how I acted recently. For what I did to you."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shake her head and then tentatively go to wrap her arm around Kara to pull her in. "They would have no reason to be. What happened was not your fault. There is nothing to need to be forgiven for or apologize for. Not to me, not to them."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara leans up next to Monet. She can't help but wryly chuckle. "Well, this makes us even for the roof at the embassy." She says, sniffling once.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would laugh softly, "It does, yes." She would go to if allowed take a hand to stroke through Kara's hair.
