Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Daisy Johnson, Veira Lazarescu, Jan de Wit

Matthew Murdock has posed:
After running into Veira and Jan by chance a little while back, Matt had confided in Daisy that they had been present, and helped, at the Defender's action against the Tracksuit Mafia's warehouse. Wanting to get a little bit better feel for the pair before revealing much, he'd suggested that Daisy and he find a sidewalk cafe outside their place and manage to bump into them again.

So it is that Matt and Daisy are sitting at a table outside a little Greek deli. Matt has some sort of marinated chicken over a bed of rice. He gives a little motion of his fork towards the chicken. "This marinade is fantastic," he tells Daisy. "They dribbled it over the rice too." He takes a sip of his iced tea. He's been listening for any signs of the door of Forgotten Tomes opening or closing. Though so far, it has just been a few customers going in and out. The cafe is situation close enough by that the pair's table right on the edge should hopefully make them get noticed easily.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"I must admit..." Daisy is sitting across from Matt, dressed in a pair of dark jeans, jacket, hair pulled back in a ponytail and diving into her own chicken. ".... SHIELD stake outs usually don't mean going for a nice marinated chicken in Queens..."

It usually means cramped watching places and rations. She shudders, perhaps imagining some stakeout training by Agent May.

"So this is a nice change of pace." There's a glance over to the door as it opens but then a shake of her head, "False alarm.." and then a roll of her eyes.

"Oh, who am I kidding? You'd probably 'see' them before I do."

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Working from home had its perks. More so it meant that if Veira needed to sneak off to check on the store that she could. Forgotten Tomes had weird hours and mainly that was because it was an Occult store. If it had normal hours that would be the telltale sign that it was a rip off. She'd promised Jan lunch out if he wanted to go with her. So that is why the Goth has made a quick check of things and brought packages in from the drop box.

"Ah, someone sent the book I was looking for." she tells Jan as she wiggles the package at him. The one eyed woman was happy to get new knowledge. "Atilla, you want us to bring something back for you?" she asks the little dragon that is curled up on the counter. "Anything charred is nice." he tells her.

She locks the door and gives a look to Jan, "What sounds good for lunch?" she asks him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Lunch with his fiancee? Indeed! He'd spent the morning practicing and rehearsing, and was quite ready for some food. Jan grinned over to Atilla and offered a wave as they stepped out of the shoppe. "Well, there are places near here, yes?" The man suggests. "Did you have a favorite nearby?"

Turning to the street, he peers over the choices. "A Greek place?" He motions, grinning. "We could try there, if you've not heard anything bad?" Jan looks back to Veira, offering her his hand.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"I always pitched you in some ritzy hotel room though, taking photos across the street," Matt replies to Daisy's complaint about what stakeouts are usually like. "Probably with a stack of pizza boxes and a lot of bottles around too," he adds with a teasing smile.

He takes another bite of his chicken. "It can be a little more difficult, especially if I don't know them as well," he comments. "At a distance like this."

Though when the pair step out, Matt's head tilts just a tiny bit as he focuses his senses over that way. The familiar voices are heard first, and soon other indications it is them work their way into the man's powerful sensorium. "Speaking of the devil. Sss," he says, making it plural at the end. He's sitting more with his back towards the shop, not needing to face it. The far more familiar face of Daisy Johnson is facing the emerging pair though.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Look, what happens in shifty one star hotels stays in shifty one star hotels..." Daisy replies back to Matt with a tone rich in amusement. She would never admit to pizza stake outs! They were delicious though ...

"Same with me.." She then says about detecting them, "I would need to know someone very well to be able to discern them through vibrations.." she reaching over to touch Matt's shoulder, "Like I can do you. So beware, maybe I can detect you on the other side of the city.." she teases playfully.

The head tilt is a familiar gesture though, one Daisy knows well. It means something was caught in his 'radar'. And that means Daisy's gaze searches the surroundings until they fall on the pair. She waves them over with one of her friendly, inviting smiles..

"So, what's the plan, Matt?"

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira reaches out to take Jan's hand, "The greek place is really good." she tells him with as her crimson lips turn up into a smile. She gives a look as they start walking though and she reaches up to adjust her hat. That's when she realizes that someone is waving their way.

And it's Daisy!

She gives a wave back, "And it is fortuitous that we have people that we know there already." the Romanian muses. They finish walking that way and she gives a smile to the two, "Daisy, Matt. How are you two doing today?" she asks them.

Jan de Wit has posed:
They move down the steps with practiced grace - something about it being Jan's livelyhood, after all. He too, notes the waving and returns the gesture. "It would seem so." The man muses, walking along with Veira until they are within conversational distance.

"Hello there, Daisy, Matt." The former gets a nod. "How is the lunch menu?" The man wonders, looking at the pair who are already seated. One of his hands remains laced with Veira's, happy to be in contact.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock quirks his head as if he's trying to place their voices. "Is that Veira and Jan?" he asks them aloud after seeming to consider for a moment. He'll pause long enough to get some kind of confirmation sound from someone and then break out into a smile.

"It's good. I definitely recommend the marinated chicken and rice," he tells them, motioning with his fork towards his plate. "Are you two hungry? You're welcome to join us if so," he says.

Matt's free hand moves to hold the edge of the plate as he seems to feel about on the plate with the for until he locates where the chicken is. He cuts off a piece before taking a bite of it, then washing it down with iced tea.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Yes, our friends from the antique store.." Daisy says without missing a beat. She's a trained Agent after all. She knows how to play the 'game', "What a coincidence finding you two again." is it though? In New York? A city of millions? It would be rather unlikely.

"Yes, we both recommend the chicken." She says with a grin. "But please join us." she then leaning in to stage-whisper at them. "Better be quick before Matt devours all the chicken in the place. He has an appetite.." she says teasingly.

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a smile to Jan as she squeezes his hand and then gives a look back to Daisy and Matt, "I'm starving." she chuckles. Then she's moving to take a seat at the table with them. "This place has always been a favorite of mine. One of the reasons I kept the old place instead of selling it when I moved in with this guy." she gives a grin to Jan.

"Thank you for the invitation to join, it is appreciated." she tells the two of them. "How have you two been?" she asks.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Ever the gentleman, Jan pulls the chair out for Veira and scoots it in once she's seated. "It smells wonderful, truthfully." Jan comments, taking a seat once everyone is settled. "Veira offered me a lunch date today, and I couldn't pass it up. All the activity this morning has me starving." He chuckles.

At Daisy's comment, Jan takes a moment to dwell on that. "More and more, coincidences seem to align to direct us." A smile. "I never truly felt like I was one who believed in fate all that much - but it does tend to narrow things down in a certain path." A slight shrug. "Regardless, a happy coincidence! Thank you both for sharing your table with us."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock gives a chuckle that is quiet, much like the way in which his deep voice usually speaks. "I imagine I probably haven't gone through all the poultry yet," he confides with Veira and Jan as they take a seat at the table.

He gets a bite of rice before asking, "So, Veira, what do you do now that you've moved on from Daisy's occupation?" he asks. They are in public, he uses roundabout wording as if being careful for her sake, and not aware of who else might be in the area. "Did you say it was somewhere in the government?" he asks as if his own question triggered a bit of memory but he's unsure.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Ah, fate..." Daisy presses her lips at that, "Was never one to believe in those in the past but .... I dunno, sometimes life just seems to show us different. Let's just say my life in SHIELD has been nothing short of crazy, but also enlightening." she has set her chicken aside for the moment now, more interested in the talk. Or maybe leaving some leftovers for Matt's insatiable stomach!

There's a glance to Matt when he speaks about Veira's occupation but she doesn't interrupt, listening and looking between them with a keen look to her eyes.

More to this encounter than meets the eye? Maybe.

Veira Lazarescu has posed:
Veira gives a smile to the others and then settles back into the chair that she sits in. Matt's question makes her look up though, "I work for Homeland Security full time now. I sort of did part time for them when I worked for SHIELD. So when I retired they asked if I wanted to do analysis and some other things." she explains. "I'm sure there are no spies lurking around." she muses to that.

Hopefully not!

"SHIELD can open up a lot of pathes in life. I worked with them for twenty years and I've been all over the place with my specialties. I think it's just nice to slow down a bit and focus on some other things in life and staying closer to home." she admits.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Of course Jan was never so employed. "I am sure there is plenty more chicken to be had." He offers, in an aside to Matt. He collects up a menu, nodding as he looks over the options. "Anything in particular you're wanting today, Veira?" He asks, once she's said her peace about working for SHIELD and Homeland Security.

The man is quite content to chat and be present with new friends. It's a good Monday, after all!

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Well," Matt replies to Veira's answer about her employment, "Good of you to still serve like that. Thank you," he says, giving a little tip of his head towards her to add to the expression of gratitude for her service to the country.

His fork moves some of the rice around, helping it soak up some of the marinade before taking another bite. "So Jan, how long until the wedding anyway? Have you two set a date?" he asks.

Matt leans back in his chair, a hand reaching over to rest on the back of Daisy's chair, fingers in light contact with her.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"That's true.." Daisy says in agreement to what Veira says, "There's a lot happening down in a ..., not-so-planetary-scale level that we can often miss because of always being on the lookout for those planetary threats." this about SHIELD. Her gaze does turn towards the library in a meaningful manner before returning to the duo.

"Yet other times..." She lifts her shoulders in a small shrug and takes a bite from her chicken, ".... we get a better picture. Or at least we try to, mmm?"

Feeling the touch on her back means Daisy leans towards it, relaxing against him.

Jan de Wit has posed:
Turning to face Matt, Jan grins. "No, no date specifically set yet. Just the plans in motion to arrange for such." A slight chuckle from the dancer. "Our engagement is still fresh in our minds, I suspect. It's all been such a rush." He comments, even as he places a napkin over his lap.

Looking from Matt to Daisy, Jan grins. "Are you two together, then?" Assumptions, and all! "I'd ask after Daisy's job, but I suspect I don't have the clearance for answers." He grins.
