Establishing a Perimeter
Date of Scene: 03 September 2022
Location: Morningside Heights, New York City
Synopsis: America meets Annie Mei on he streets of Morningside Heights and immediately takes a liking to the young woman's sense of justice and exhuberance to be a good person. An invitation to join the Young Avengers is made and accepted and Annie prepares to move into the new base.
Cast of Characters: America Chavez, Annie Mei

America Chavez has posed:
The streets of Morningside Heights are relatively quiet on any given day, then gentrification of the once tense neighborhood having long established its own roots and settled down. But today something else breaks through the quiet University feel of the place. The scream of a woman, the exclimation of a man, and then subsequent stiffled sound of pain from the same voice.

New York City, like all great metropolitan areas, has its croppings of darkness that spring up no matter how strong the feel of safety lingers and this is no different. A group of men, seven in total surround a younger couple. The male of the couple is doubled over the fist of one of the men while another holds the woman's handbag, rifling throuhg its contents with eager, hungry greed.

"Didn't you get the memo, this street's just been given a toll to pass through it for all people" another of the men says roughly, shoving the doubled over man to the ground hard. "If you can't pay the toll, then we'll find a suitable accomodation to account for it."

This sort of darkness is exactly why there are people in such a city to handle these threats to the greater public. Morningside Heights has just become a home to an entire group of them and the leader of the group has been looking to set up a perimeter around their base of operations.

Annie Mei has posed:
Annie finds a place to park her scooter, swiping her card at the kiosk in front of the parking spot so she can linger longer if she wants as she explores the area. The weekend has started and since the lab is still analyzing the data from the last round of experiments, she's not needed until they're ready for the next round sometime next week. Since classes won't start for another week as well, this leaves Annie with time to explore the city.

She'd been told this area used to be bad but had been 'modernized' and was being built up, so she decided to see if there were any of the fun, kitschy shops still left before it went full corporate. Passing the inevitable Starbucks with the McDonald's across the street has her chuckling to herself, only to have that bit of silliness interrupted by a woman's screams.

Glancing around at the people that look away and tuck their heads to hurry along, she lets out a 'tch' and starts to run in the direction of the screams. No thought given to the fact that she's in her street clothes and not her 'costume', Annie hurries along until she comes upon the scene.

Taking in the seven men against the one man and his date, she sighs, "Really? Seven to one?" She lets out a sunny smile, "Hardly seems fair. Mind if I even up those odds a bit?" Without waiting for a response, she bullrushes in, shoulderchecking one of the punks in the small of his back and shoving him to the ground.

Taking up a clumsy fighting stance, she grins, "You can totally still just give the lady her purse back. Promise I won't hurt anyone else if you guys go away now."

America Chavez has posed:
The man hit by Annie goes sprawling and doesn't get up, it seems faceplanting on asphalt does a good job of knocking out someone. One down, six to go. The men turn on Annie, redirecting their attention away from the couple. "It seems we got ourselves another customer boys..." says the lead man. He's dressed a bit nicer than the goons around him, clearly their organizer.

"Why don't we show her how we handle unruly patrons..." he takes the purse from the one rifling through it and steps back letting the other five converge on Annie. Two of the men, both armed with brass knuckles, rush the pink haired girl. Another flicks out a switchblade before trying to flank her. Another yet seems to be trying to get behind her to take advantage of the chaos and apprehend her for nefariors unmentioned deeds if the others fail to contain the newcomer.

The one flanking Annie, with the knife suddenly goes flying down the street before bouncing on the sidewalk and skidding to a halt several feet away. "You know it's not nice to make a mess on people's front doorsteps, right?" says a dark skinned female of Amazonian proportions hovering a few inches off the ground.

"I like this one's attitude," she says thumbing towards Annie, "let's make the odds even better." She moves into a more trained but relaxed stance and shoots a grin at the pink hued girl. "You good?" she asks her turning to face the man trying to get behind Annie and tracking him as she hovers in midair.

Annie Mei has posed:
"Awwwwwwww, for me? You shouldn't have!" Annie seems less than concerned when the men start to surround her, still just smiling cheerily as they converge. But then one of the guys goes flying backwards and she's looking up. She stops, blinking, then staring, at America as she hovers above the ground. "...whoa..."

She stays that way, leaving herself wide open, until America addresses her. Flushing, she grins and gives a nod, "Oh! Yeah, I'm good! Thanks!"

She flicks a glance to where the man and woman are, doing some lighting-fast mental calculations as she brings her hands close together. A bright green, crackling, energy starts to grow between her hands, formed into a ball about the size of a baseball. Her hair is blown back from her face by the force that's building up between her hands, before she slams it down into the ground with enough concussive force to send anyone around her flying, the shockwave fo concussive force halting just shy of the couple.

Looking up, she's breathing like she just ran a mile, but grinning, "There! Who's left?"

America Chavez has posed:
The men go flying up in arcs as radiation and force rush out from Annie. It's America's turn to go "...whoa..." at the display. She recovers fairly quickly before saying, "Just the one!" She moves for her targetted man. The punch she hits him with is enough to break his jaw and he falls to the ground in an unconscious heap before she turns to the leader who tossed the bag and fled at the initial display of Annie's powers.

America moves over to the couple and offers her hand to the man on the ground, he takes it and she helps him to his feet. "Thank you so much" the woman says to Annie directly. "If you hadn't been there I... I don't know what could've happened. Is there anyway we can repay you?" she asks hopefully.

America's gaze lingers on the pink haired young woman speculatively, assessing her response and perhaps testing something of her own with the gaze.

Annie Mei has posed:
"Ooooooooo, he's going to need a doctor," Annie makes a note to ask the police to bring an ambulance when she calls them, turning to watch the 'leader' run off like the punk he is. Letting out a 'tch', she shakes her head after him, then tucks a lock of hair behind her ear and moves towards the couple.

Blinking at the woman's effusive thanks, she flushes and smiles sunnily at the pair of them. "Oh hey, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. But... if you really want to repay me..." She reaches into her jeans and pulls out a fifty and holds it out to the woman, "Can you take this to the Starbucks back there, use it to buy a gift card. Get you and your man something, then leave the card for the people in line behind you. Pay it forward, y'know?"

She glances to the young man and lifts both brows, "You gonna be okay? I was going to ask for an ambulance with the cops, if you're hurt you should let them check you out." Then there's a sidelong glance to America when she feels the weight of the gaze on her. "Also, uhm, you know, thank her too. Because she helped too. But that's all!"

America Chavez has posed:
The young man holds up a hand. "I'm alright. Just got the wind knocked out of me, you know?" he says. He looks to America and nods. "She's right. We owe you both, thanks a ton." The young woman stares at the fifty and nods. "We'll... do that. Totally. Thanks so much!" she adds before they head off towards the Starbucks indicated.

America smiles. "I was just doing my job" she replies to Annie when the pair were out of earshot. "My turf, my area to clean up, you know?" she asks.

"You... handled yourself well there. Energy manipulation, yeah? You a full timer or getting your wings under you?" she asks with an arch of a finely groomed brow. "Cause... you've got some pretty potent stuff if you ask me. And that's saying something."

Annie Mei has posed:
Smiling after the couple, Annie turns towards America when she's spoken to, chuckling, "Doesn't mean you shouldn't get a 'thank you'. A little bit of nice goes a really long way." She lifts a shrug and looks after the couple, "A lot of people's day will be a little brighter because they got a drink for free. And maybe each of those people will pay it forward a little too. Stuff like that tends to spread, partly because nobody expects it."

Looking back to America, she coughs lightly and flushes, "Ah, not quite? I... create and control solar radiation. Sort of. There's.. more to it, but that's the basics." Annie lifts both brows, "What, you mean like.. hero'ing? Oh, no just.. just when I happen to be in the area. I don't like.. have a 'turf' or anything. I'm still pretty new to the city, for all I know, the area I stay already has a hero patrol."

Flashing a grin, she conjures up a small disk of the energy and rolls it across the backs of her fingers like a coin before flipping it around, grabbing it in one hand, then reabsorbing as she opens her hand to show it's gone. "This is still pretty new, so I'm basically just sort of making things up as I go along."

America Chavez has posed:
America watches with interest and smiles as the girl modestly demonstrates subtle control over the ability. "You're damn good at it for one 'new' to a power" she explains with a nod of being impressed. "I mean it. You've got a lot of oomph in you. I felt the wave you sent out and that's not something that happens often given the sorts I work with on the reg." She gestures around them.

"Is this where you're staying or just passing through? Because well... if you don't have a turf, do you want to share some of mine?" she offers with a friendly grin. "I've got a small team together. We're not official... yet, but we're all but in the papers." She makes a face. "Damn, can't use that saying anymore... uh... on the front pages? That'll work."

Annie Mei has posed:
"Oh, thanks!" Annie blushes briefly, then shrugs, "Really, it's not too difficult if you know the science behind it. It's really just biochemistry and a bit of physics. I just.. the baseball is about as big as I can grow it right now. I'm still working on, uh, endurance training? I guess that's technically correct." The best kind of correct!

She glances around the area, then looks back to America with a sheepish smile and shakes her head, "I have a flat in Chinatown just now, but I've been trying to figure out where I should like.. settle, settle. Between college courses and my internship, I expect I'll be here awhile, and the flat should really go to someone with less means than me." Pausing as she stops talking long enough to realize the offer being extended, she lights up, grinning, "Oh... OH! Yeah! Sure, that would be great! I've seen the videos and articles on the, y'know, the big groups and stuff, but... I haven't really met anyone else that's powered until now, so... yeah!"

America Chavez has posed:
America beams. "Then you're in for a big surprise soon enough" she says offering a hand to the pink haired woman. "You ever flown before? I promise it won't be long and if you're afraid of heights I'll keep us low altitude. I'm America, by the way, America Chavez or if you read the papers, Ms. America." Is she famous? Yes. (Thanks Terry.) Does that bother her? Only a little.

"And if you like the place enough, we have quarters in house and you can live there... I am, so it's not an empty place" she adds. "But... you should probably see it first before making up your mind about that sort of thing." She's very enthusiastic about this place of hers. Which, given the amount of work she's done, she ought to be. "Oh and the crew I'm putting together, we're the Young Avengers--and yes, we're endorsed by the adults, in case you were wondering."

Annie Mei has posed:
Annie grins and takes the offered hand, "Not without a helicopter or plane, but I'm open to new experiences. I'm fine with heights, too." She blinks, then grins, "Annie Mei. Or.. well.. Solis, I suppose is what I should be telling people, but I'm not exactly in costume right now so... " SHe shakes her head, "That's going to be a pain to remember."

Laughing lightly, she gives a nod, "Well, we /are/ adults. Or at least, I'm an adult. Even if just barely. I like to think I'm mostly an adult." Annie glances back to her scooter, "Okay, but after, could you drop me back here? I don't mind paying for the parking, but I'm pretty sure I have to move it before midnight or it could be impounded." Looking back to America, she grins, "But I'd love to see it. Your place, I mean. Or.. headquarters. Not just... well. You know!"

America Chavez has posed:
"No worries. Hold on tight" America replies before draws the young woman a bit closer and shoots up into the air. In moments they're above some of the taler sky scrapers in the area. America hovers there for a moment, lettng Annie get used to the feeling of defying gravity for a time. "It's right over there" she says, pointing to a dilapidated looking publishing house and angling over towards it through the air at swift, but not breakneck, speed.

She touches down gently and while the lawn is well maintained and even landscaped, the building's exterior looks rather shabby. It's clean enough but nothing about it pops for the eyes. "I've got a crew coming in over the weekend to handle the exterior. Getting a full redo and making sure that it looks all proper and well before we announce publically. People are going to notice if the place get's a giant A over the entrance after all. I hope they get the designs right."

She realizes she's still holding the young woman close and abrubtly lets go. "Sorry about that..." she says, tucking a few strands of curly dark hair behind one ear to hide her embrassment. "Come on it" she says, heading for the door and hoping leading the way hides her blush.

Annie Mei has posed:
Annie grins as they lift off, holding onto America but very clearly trying to be careful about how tightly she holds on. The strength is one of those things she's still trying to keep a handle on, so she tends to have a gentler touch than she necessarily needs to. When they're hovering, she's looking all around, an excited expression on her face. "Oh, cute! Big yard, that's pretty rare in the city!" Then they're off and she's tucking her head in to keep her hair from whipping all around.

When they touch down, Annie is looking all around at the building, her smile growing, "Oh this is /very/ cool. Good structure, lots of space, and a bit back from the street. Is there on-site parking too?" Letting out a chuckle when America mentions the designs, she glances up, "I'm sure it'll turn out beautiful. You've got some great vision to see the potential in this place."

Stumbling a step as she's suddenly released, Annie catches herself and flushes as she settles her jacket, head ducking as she murmurs, "No, no it's... you're.. okay. It's okay." Clearing her throat, she gives a nod and hunches her shoulders up, letting the pink hair hide her own pink cheeks as she hurries after.

America Chavez has posed:
The interior is a vast difference from the exterior of the building and the smell of renovations permeates the air. The entry hallway leads7 to an open plan room with a seating area for guests and residents of the building. A large television dominates the main seating area along with a sound system that looks like it cost more than some cars. The seats are modern in style but comfortable looking. There is a hallway leading further into the facility on the north wall.

"Welcome to the base" America says, spreading her arms and gesturing around her with a small spin. "It's not the Avengers Mansion, but with a bit of work, I'd like to think it can be a close second. Security systems are still being worked out. Some kinks between Vic's override systems and JARVIS. Once that's taken care of, should only be a matter of installing it and then this place can be a fortress if we want it to be." She tosses a glance to Annie. "But with us around hopefully we can stop anything getting to that need."

Annie Mei has posed:
Annie lets out a whistle at the interior, her embarrassment forgotten as she looks around the room with a growing smile, "Oh this is /cool/! I could totally chill here." She puts a hand to the back fo the seating and hops over it, flopping down onto the cushions and squiggling around until she's comfy. "Oh yeah. This is good stuff." Letting out a sigh, she folds her hands over her stomach and just reclines for a moment. But then America is heading for the hallway, so she leaps up to rejoin her, moving faster than she really should be able to. Certainly not speedster territory, but she could break speed limits in residential zones without breaking a sweat.

Once she catches up, she matches her pace to America, tucking her hands into the pockets of her coat and flashing a smile towards the much taller woman, "Admittedly, engineering is not my /strongest/ suit for sciences, but I'll be happy to help out however I can! And I'm sure I'll learn more along the way, I tend to pick up stuff pretty quickly." Smile growing to a grin, she bobs her head, "It would take someone either desperate or /really/ mad to attack a compound full of heroes. Not that it doesn't happen, obviously, but it shouldn't be a regular occurrence. And yeah, we should totally be able to handle whatever shows up on the doorstep."

America Chavez has posed:
"Part of why I do my best to discourage the stuff we took care of just a few minutes ago" America says giving a smile at the young woman's speed. "I like the exhuberance" she adds. "I have a couple of people in mind who are big on the tech side of things and they'll handle the security. One of them is more than intimately acquainted with the systems from the Titan's Tower."

She pauses and smirks. "Hmm... that... rather puts a different spin on that sort of thing, doesn't it?" she muses. After a shrug. "Hey, glass houses and stones far as I'm concerned to be honest." What she means by that she leaves unspoken. "So... training room, rec room, or quarters first?" she asks, coming to a T intersection and a stair case heading up the the next floor.

Annie Mei has posed:
"Yeah, I can grok that. Like I said, I'm still pretty new to the whole thing, so I mostly just step in where opportunity arises. I wasn't sure how the whole.. 'super team' thing worked, you know? Like, did I need to submit an application? Is it paper or video or email or like.. do /they/ recruit /you/ and if so then how do you go about getting recruited?" Realizing that she's running on, Annie flushes briefly and clears her throat, "Uhm, sorry. I can... ramble. When I'm excited or nervous. Or both! Sometimes it's both and then it gets /really/ bad and I'll start talking about the most /inane/ stuff you can imagine..." Realizing she's just about to do so again, she clamps her mouth shut, biting the insides of her lips.

When they pause at the junction, Annie glances down both corridors, then towards the stairs, then finally over to America with a grin, "Left, the right, then up. So whatever order that goes!" Directions are easier than trying to guess what is in which direction anyways. Feeling proud of herself for that decision, she grins up at America, "Oh I'm great with science! But my degrees are in Applied Physics, Chemistry, and Materials Science. I make the materials that the engineers turn into cool stuff. So I mean, I guess I /could/ branch into engineering after that, but since most of what I work with is meant for use in renewable energy or for going into space, that would be at least.. three more disciplines? I'll need a couple years to get to that point."

America Chavez has posed:
America shakes her head. "Don't sweat it, -chica-," she says with a smile. "You might find that I like rambling, when you're friends with Speed and Wiccan rambling gets to be part of the norm. You'll meet them soon enough..." She gestures for Annie to follow her straight through the intersection, presumably what she is calling left. "But to your point, it's different for everybody. Some are born to it? Like me, and most mutants are like that too. So you have the X-Men and Xavier's subsidiaries. Some just feel a call and meet up with one of the groups: Titans, Outsiders, Avengers, Justice League, and are either asked or ask themselves on, like what I'm doing for you. And then you have independents who just fall into a crew of like minded individuals and work together when it suits them."

They pass through a pair of automated double doors and into a large open room with metal panels for walls. There are a number of chest high walls and other padded urban-setting obstacles set into the floor. "Training room" she says. "Again, systems are in place but the controls aren't fully automated yet. Hawkeye--my second--is already writing up training programs for the team and I'm sure she'll be eager to pur you through the ropes as well if you sign on." She winks at Annie. "Like I said, no rush. Applied physics? Energy?" Her expression sobers a touch. "I'm going to guess your special power came as a result of a test?" she asks. She's met both Bruce Banner and Jenifer Walters and so knows what science can do if not properly controlled.

Annie Mei has posed:
"Oh good, I won't be the only one whose mouth runs off with them." Annie chuckles and rubs at the back of her neck, "It's a medical condition, I swear. Or at least, it should be classified as one!" She heads along with America down the hall and gives a nod, "Mine came up rather... suddenly, so I've just been trying to figure out how to deal with them. How to properly use them. What all I can do with it." She grins, "Like, I know there's more applications than what I can do now, I just have to figure out how to use them the right way. How to manipulate it just right." Her head bobs and she grins, "That's why I figured I would just keep dealing with stuff I ran into and either I would run into someone else with powers, like with you, or I would do something big enough to catch notice."

Entering into the training room, Annie blinks and glances around, "You know, for some reason I was expecting like... a gym. With machines and maybe a lap pool or climbing wall. I don't know why, this makes more sense, but... still!" Chuckling, she gives a nod, "No worries, I'm happy to do whatever! So bring on the tests and obstacle courses!" Sobering a bit, she ducks her head and gives a nod. "Uhm... yeah. But it wasn't on purpose!" She looks up suddenly, "There wasn't like.. an evil mastermind or anything. At least I hope not. Todd would make a /terrible/ name for an evil mastermind. I'm interning at STAR Lab here in the city. We're working on ways of drawing down more solar energy that can be stored in larger quantities so instead of having to do like... solar panels on every roof, you could have a solar plant instead of a neclear plant? Then you would just convert the solar energy to electricity at the plant and power a whole city that way!" She clears her throat, "We were between experiments and I went in to recalibrate the panels from inside the testing chamber, and the tech on the outside, Todd, tripped and accidentally hit the startup sequence. The failsafes glitched, probably because we were recalibrating everything, and I got trapped inside. Realistically, I /should/ be dead. But... I'm not. So we're definitely doing /something/ right."

America Chavez has posed:
"That's the other room," America replies at the mention of a gym, pool, and climbing wall. "This room, once the systems are in place will be able to re-enact any scenario we can think up... within reason. If you stick around, you'll definitely get to see for yourself. Promise." She looks at the young woman. "I think you did a bit of both with me. Which, I'm glad that I was there to meet you."

She turns and heads back the way they came. As she listens to the tale of how Annie came to have her abilities she nods. "Todd does sound like a pretty awful evil villain name, but... you'd be surprised, some villains out there have -really- bad names." She stops at the T and again gives Annie a once over. Her cheeks darken a bit. "You either did something right, or you were predisposed to genetic rewriting. That can happen spontaneously." She shrugs and clears her own throat, realizing that she's staring at the young woman before taking the T turn at the intersection.

Another set of automatic doors opens to another large room. The area is open enough for a basketball court, a small decked out personal gym, a decently sized swimming pool, a rock climbing wall, and a hot tub. In an alcove to one side is another large TV with a number of chairs around it and a number of gaming consoles underneath. "Recreation room" America says in introduction. "If you want to play... here's a good a place as any." She turns and regards the young woman. "I've already tried out the facilities and the hot tub?" She makes a kissing sound. "-Muy bueno!-"

Annie Mei has posed:
"Ohhhhhhhhhh... you know, that makes sense too, now that I think about it." Annie flashes a grin, then glances around the room once more, "So like... I could use it to climb some of the toughest cliffs and faces? Because, not gonna lie, that would be pretty sweet. I've always wanted to Mission Impossible stuff." Looking back to America, she flushes a little and shakes her head, "Nah, I just helped a couple people out. Besides, I really can't complain. I've still got both parents alive, they're super supportive without being helicopters, we had everything we could need or want... I wasn't even really bullied in school. I wasn't like.. one of the way popular girls or anything, but I was active in my extracurriculars and after school activities, and I make friends pretty easy."

Moving to follow, she chuckles and gives a nod, "I imagine that's why a lot of them come up with such edgelordy names... overcompensation for a terrible real name. But in this case, Todd was freaking out the whole time, so I don't think he was purposely trying to do anything bad. I even asked them not to fire him, I mean the guy tripped. It's a thing, totally normal human thing that happens, you know? It's not his fault that it happened at the worst possible time." Annie lifts a shrug, then pauses, glancing up at America. Finding herself being stared at, she blushes hotly, "Sorry, rambling again. But, ah, yeah. Actually, already have a genetic abnormlaity that runs through my paternal genes." She flicks her hair, "The pink is natural. Got it from my dad."

Stepping into the rec room, Annie looks around with wide eyes, "...whoa! This is... /awesome/! You have /everything/ in here! Can I just like... bring a sleeping bag and camp out here?" She flicks a bit of bangs away from her eyes, then turns to America with a grin, "No demasiado caliente?" Yep, on top of everything else, she's multilingual! "Sorry, Cali girl, I learned Spanish starting in like, pre-school. And Mandarin from my mom's side of the family." CLearing her throat, she flicks a glance all around and murmurs, "I promise I'm not trying to show off.... well, maybe a little. I want to make a good first impression."

America Chavez has posed:
America shakes her head in confirmation to Annie's question. "No." Then she pauses. "Well... everyone's different and I'm a little more sturdy than most; genes being as they are. So I mean, it's not to hot for me. For you?" She shrugs. "You'll never know until you try, really. And yes, that was an invitation regardless of your decision."

She grins before setting off through the rec room for a closer tour. "You've done that and then some if I may say so. I like the hair actually. It's cute and spunky and helps you stand out... which isn't a bad thing."

As she proceeds she gestures to the offerings like any standard tour guide. "I figured I'd cover most of what I could with what I was able to get. Again, a lot of this is transitional. If Speed comes in and breaks the treadmill on the first day, I'll be sure to give him a stern look and replace it when, and if, the need arises."

After they make their circuit. "So... given what you've seen so far, ready to look upstairs at the private quarters? And... any idea on whether what I have to offer fits your style?" she asks, arching a fine brow at the shorter woman.

Annie Mei has posed:
Chuckling, Annie gives a nod, "So am I, these days. I imagine it will do just fine." She lifts a small shrug, "Something something, solar radiation, something something, heat resistant, science, biochemistry, blah blah..." Grinning, she offers, "Actually, I'm not sure how heat resistant I am just yet, I haven't really put it to the test. But I should."

Blushing hotly over the 'invitation', Annie clears her throat and gives a small nod before hurrying to catch up, getting a more up close look at everything. The compliment to her hair has her looking up with a beaming smile, "Thanks! It was really the only thing that I got even kind of bullies about in school. Some girls just refused to believe that I wasn't dying my hair."

Chuckling, Annie offers, "I can't promise that I won't occasionally break something. I'm still trying to get used to the strength part, so sometimes I can be a little.. rough.. on things. Even my own things." She won't even get into how many laptops she's had to replace.

The blush returns at America's question, though she gives a nod, "It's great, all of it. It's really great. And I'm thrilled to even be asked!" She turns a smile towards America, "I would definitely be interested in joining."

America Chavez has posed:
America beams at Annie. "Then follow me and you can get a look at the dorms. They're pretty standard fare but I left them that way so each individual who decides to live here can make it to their own specs..." She heads out of the Rec Room and back to the intersection. This time she takes the stairs up.

They stop at a landing and then cut back in to open up on a balcony overlooking the main room of the facility on the left and a wide bay of windows on the right to oversee the front grounds of the land. "These used to be corporate offices for the management and higherups of the company that used to use the place as far as I can tell. But they're more spacious than most offices that I've seen."

She stops at a door and opens it up to reveal a sizable but not huge living space. The room occupies roughly twenty by thirty feet, with the outside wall a single huge glass panel covered with slatted blinds. A section of the room by the door is closed off into a private bathroom, stylishly decorated in blue tiling, and making an L-shape of the rest of the space. There is a single solid looking personal desk and a full sized bed as the lone furnishings of the room.

"Like I said, not super fancy, but I figured whoever took them would customize them to their own style" she grins. "All of these are the same save that last one there" she says pointing down the hall. "My room" she grins.

Annie Mei has posed:
"Sounds better than my college dorms, so I'm still game," Annie chuckles as she follows America up the stairs and into the hallway. She takes the stairs easily, keeping up without an issue, reaching the second floor landing, she glances around curiously, then chuckles, "Oh yeah, you can tell this was corporate. It has the 'corporate vinyl' on the floor still." She scuffs lightly at the flooring on the landing, then grins, "Easy to clean."

She gives a nod as she glances out over the main room with a smile, then turns back towards the hallway with a glance to America, "Works for me! Like I said, if they're private rooms, that's still head and shoulders over my college dorm." Moving down the hall, she peeks at each door until they enter one of the rooms.

Moving through the room, she smiles, "If I take a room here, is it okay if I come up with my own window coverings? If there's one thing my mother impressed on me about a household, it's that blinds are terrible. They collect dust like they were made for it. She says verticals are not /as/ bad, but still inferior to curtains that can be tossed in the wash." That bit of homespun wisdom shared, she grins, "But in either case, it's still great. My flat isn't much bigger than this room, and I bet the kitchen here is /way/ better."

She glances back down the hall, then lifts a brow and grins, "You took the big corner office, right?"

America Chavez has posed:
America grins over her shoulder at Annie. "There are a few perks to being a leader than I will take" she replies. "That's one of them." She nods. "You can customize the room however you want, new coverings, paint even if you want to go that far. I figured it was best to go basic with everything, so as to allow the most freedom with customizing."

She leans against the doorframe. "The third story is more of the same, there's a big office there too, but I think Ka--er, Hawkeye, will claim that one; she's my second and the one in charge of training regimens." She chuckles. "Outside of that, I think that's pretty much the gist. There's a cafeteria that is currently in the process of getting to code on the ground floor, and that's where we can all put out cooking skills to the test" she laughs. "The true test of comraderie, eating food one another has prepared." She bobs her eyebrows suggestively.

Annie Mei has posed:
Lifting both hands, Annie lets out a laugh, "Hey, I'm not accusing! Extra responsibility should come with extra perks!" She flashes a grin and glances around the room again, then looks back to America and asks, "Is the room across from yours taken yet?" It takes approximately three seconds to catch up her, and America can /watch/ the blush sweep up her throat and face until she's almost as pink as her hair, "I mean... uhm, that is... well. I thought.. it would be easier to hang out if, you know.. rooms were.. closer..."

Clearing her throat, she hurriedly looks away and tucks a lock of hair behind one still pink ear and gives a nod, "O-of course! D-do you know if the roof is rated for aircraft? I'm getting my license. Ah, pilot's license, I already have my driver's license. I'm rated for helicopters, and I'm about 25 hours into my training for my pilot's license. So. If we do get an aircraft. I can.. fly it. If there isn't someone that already can, I mean. Or if we get more than one. Or you know. However it works." She flashes a too-big grin and hurries along, "Hey, we should check out the roof! Get some... fresh air. Sunshine. See how much space is up there." SUBJECT CHANGE!

America Chavez has posed:
"It is and I am I firm believer in redundancy of skills. Backup plans are -always- necessary... just in case" America replies. "And no. The room next to mine is unoccupied. You can take it if you want. I wouldn't mind" she says before turning and heading back to the stairwell.

"Roof access is just a single flight up from the third floor landing" she says turning at the landing in question up a fle steps to a single barred steel door. "There's a pad there, but I haven't spoken to Stark--or well, Ms. Potts relly, about a Quinjet. Given our affiliation I don't think one is completely out of the question."

She presses the metal door open to reveal the exapanse of a rooftop. There is a landing pad installed but currently unoccupied. "Given that a couple of our crew are attached to GIRL, I think if we can't get a quinjet, they'll probably be able to engineer something close to or better than that for our needs if it arises." She turns to regard Annie, the wind blowing her dark curls away from her face. "In other words, we'll have transport, one way or another."

Annie Mei has posed:
"Well! I will be glad to be your backup pilot then!" Annie beams out a smile, at least briefly forgetting her embarrassment in the excitement of possibly getting fly a jet for SUPERHEROES. Oh yes, this week's call to her parents is going to be quite long and VERY involved and excited! She can hardly wait!

Giving a quick nod, Annie moves to follow America up the stairs towards the roof, pausing briefly at the door and turning a smile towards the taller woman, "Now /that/ would be /truly/ amazing! I've seen the specs on those, they're bleeding edge tech!" Oh yeah, the excitement is coming back big time. "And the controls are just... I mean, they're pretty much dummyproof. If you have access, you could fly it within minutes."

She steps onto the roof, almost immediately turning her face to the sun with a smile, drawing in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. Annie gives a stretch, as if seeking to draw in every molecule of the sunlight she can possibly get. "Oh, really? I've been hoping to get an interview for GIRL. I was hoping my work with STAR would get me noticed by the right people. I mean, renewable energy sources, especially on a large scale, would be /huge/ for the scientific community as well as the rest of the world. Imagine never having to stop for fuel again. No more internal combustion anything. Imagine being able to fuel a plane just by.. leaving it out in the sun. Being able to get enough energy from a single day to fuel the plane for a week." She's rambling again, but this time seems to not care. THIS is a passion project. "It would be so great... but! I'll get there someday!"

Wetting her lips, she looks to America and smiles, "In the meantime... I would very much like to join the Young Avengers.. I can be moved in by the end of the week, if that's okay. I'll bring pizza if you'll help me with the furniture."
