Show Me To The Light
Date of Scene: 16 September 2022
Location: The Lending Library
Synopsis: Hellboy tests the light from Rave for psychometric shenanigans...in a library. At least light is quiet.
Cast of Characters: Hellboy, Naria Shepard

Hellboy has posed:
The library is a quiet-ish place. For the most part, libraries are changing from hushed places of silent study to community centers, but there's still a silence to them as people's reverence for libraries has been passed down. In any case, it's stares and whispers that Hellboy gets, rather than anything louder than that. He's found himself a nice, quiet place in the back room where people only occasionally peek at him. Meanwhile, he's gotten himself a graphic novel and is reading it, occasionally chuckling a deep, low rumble of a laugh, though quietly, of course.

Naria Shepard has posed:
It -was- a library, which meant that Rave couldn't simply zip into the room in the usual streak of neon light lest she set quite a bit of the books and papers thrown into the air. Arriving at the door, the bluenette arrives to the building and just sort of...strolls in, looking far more like she was dressed for her namesake rather than the library. Still she was here and Hellboy seemed to be no less noticable than she was, if not moreso!

"Hey," she greets lightly, making her way towards the demon at the table with his comic.

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy looks up from the comic at the girl. He smiles and upnods at her. "Hey," he says. "I'm glad you came." He carefully picks up a bookmark and puts it in the book, then closes it. Apparently, he actually wants to finish the comic he started. He stands and holds out his Right Hand of Doom, extending a single finger to her. That thing is harder to control. Best not break bones by holding her hand in it accidentally. Probably wouldn't happen, but best not just to be safe.

Naria Shepard has posed:
Of course, she could -heal- such damage if there was light around, but he didn't know that and the whole breaking of bones for a greeting was likely to be a bad start. Taking the offered finger for a lazy little shake with her own notably smaller and more delicate right hand before she lazily leans against the desk. "So what's up? You're needing a hand with that light thing?"

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy raises a brow, looking into the girl's eyes. "That Light Thing," he says, "is a personal project and something I don't really want spread around. I need to know a little more about your light powers. Psychometrically. The last thing I want to do is make a tainted artifact that can be used for evil."

Naria Shepard has posed:
A lift of her hand, she traces her fingers over her lips in a classic 'zipped' gesture before nodding her head, only to blink a little and give a little pout. "Psycho-what?" she questions before gesturing to herself. "What do you mean tainted or evil?"

Hellboy has posed:
"Psychometric," Hellboy explains. "For example..." He starts rummaging through his coat, eventually pulling out a coin. "Ah, here. For example, this is money." He turns the coin in his hands. "If I use it to pay a hit man, it becomes blood money. Most people don't care about that kind of thing, but the money remembers, and spiritually, it becomes somewhat unholy. Also: Even if I carve it into some other coin-like shape, it will remember that it is money and blood money." He puts it back in his pocket and continues. "Light has psychometric properties. I need sunlight, not bulb light, and I don't know what the light is you produce. Does that make sense?"

Naria Shepard has posed:
"Riiight," Rave offers lightly and trailing off before folding her arms under her bust before nodding and tilting her head. "It's tricky to explain. I can draw in light to myself, if I store it and release it it's...a 'me' light. Kinda somewhere between a neon and a laser but not produced by actual elemental neon. It's kinda an extention of me. Otherwise," she pauses, swirling her hand in the air as the light within the room seemed to coalesce into a ring of the gesture. "I use what's around me, and sunlight really just requires...well, the sun."

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy shakes his head. "That's not good enough," he says. "But if you hold it and store it..." He taps his chin with his Right Hand of Doom. Apparently he's not worried about breaking his own bones. "Hey, what kind of light you got stored up right now? I have a psychometric spectrum analyzer on me. Been using it to test various light sources. Probably shouldn't have taken it, but whatever. We never use it."

Naria Shepard has posed:
"I mean, I can draw the sunlight around me if I just step outside so..." she shrugs only for his question about what she was storing causing her to blink. "I mean...I don't know right at the moment. I haven't ran out and gone 'empty' for a while. So combinations of sunlight and electrical light. We are in a city after all..." she grins, a little pulse of the glowing in her deep blue locks. "If you have the stuff we can check, I guess?"

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy reaches into a specific pocket in that nebulous coat. He doesn't need to rummage around, he just has the thing. He looks around. "Lot of light contamination," he says. He moves around the table as he takes off his coat. Getting into Rave's bubble, he whips his coat up and around them both in the same movement as he hunkers down very close to her. With a combination of his coat and his body, he's made a tent around them both, though it's awkward. "Alright, glow-worm," he says, trying to keep the contact surface between their bodies in the tiny coat tent appropriate, "glow."

Naria Shepard has posed:
Well this was...cozy? Still huddled down under the coat there was already a light luminesce from her eyes and hair, making it pretty clear the young heroine and entertainer wasn't likely fantastic with stealth. Still, even with the scent of leather, probably gunsmoke and very likely cigars past Rave brings her hands together, a little glowing ball of bright light surging to life and dancing between her fingertips.

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy holds the device up next to the ball of light. The softly glowing orb registers on his device, the readout displaying a few things. One: Body heat. Demon. Human. Fair enough. However, the ball of light spiked heavily in another spectrum. It wasn't body heat at all. As Hellboy used his Right Hand of Doom to maintain the makeshift tent, the left hand fiddled with dials until it revealed the light to be--

Naria Shepard has posed:
Sure enough, the light seemed to be...shifting, an almost impossible shifting of the spectrum as different light seemed to swirl. Of course, the mixture seemed to mingle like one were standing under an electrical light in the middle of the day, but she hadn't exactly mentioned if there were any limitations to how long she could hold onto whatever was stored into her being.

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy stands and undoes the tent, putting on his coat. He puts the device away and says, "That's actually amazing," he says. "If you can empty yourself out, then just take sunlight in until you're full, you and my other friend can help me forge with holy sunlight."

Naria Shepard has posed:
Completely draining herself was going to -suck-, something the bluenette expressed with a little groan before nodding. "Alright, I can manage that. It's just...really uncomfortable to have completely nothing in the tank," she explains before shrugging her shoulders. "But as long as there's some light outside, and somewhere dark enough inside, I can make that work. After seeing that thing at my show...I feel like the holy sunlight thingy is probably important."

Hellboy has posed:
Hellboy nods. "It is," he says. He pulls his cell phone from his pocket, unlocking it with his left hand and working to find something on it. He furrows his brow. "Hmmm," he says. "She still hasn't responded." He angles the phone at her. "Hey, you know how to make a group text on one of these things?"
