SHIELD and Secrets

Synopsis:	Mary Jane talks to Superboy about her work in SHIELD and clears the air some.

Conner Kent has posed:
It is safe to say Hydra just lost a very high-tech strike group. Which might be good in the long run of the terrorist organization, given the average HQ of those soldiers as, well, sub-optimal, to put it mildly. Still, they somehow had access to some insane potent tech, and it is much better for Metropolis they are all in jail now.

Also, they kind of ruined his date with Mary Jane.

Conner stayed on scene to help with the clean up. We can have wrecked tanks in the clean and lean streets of Metropolis, right? New York has Damage Control, but Metropolis, well, Lex Luthor sometimes sends specialists to help. But we don't want those tanks in his hands, right?

Actually, since he is the Prez, not much can be done about it.

So, it is a bit late in the day when Conner finally texts MJ (using the now battered Starkphone, screen cracked and all) a 'we can still grab some food here' and the coordinates of the Hall of Justice. He has limited access, and can get them a private meeting room. Also, sandwiches.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Oh boy, this is going to be fun. But it's something that has to be addressed. And is a thing that she has to explain. Even if it's something that drives the two of them away from one another it's something that he deserves. But in her own mind that she feels was justified. So, Mary Jane goes to head into the Hall of Justice, wearing a red sweater given the fall and a set of jeans. Slung over her back is a large broadsword - Sonja's. Over covered by the sweater is a SHIELD Sidearm. Slung underneath her sweater is a SHIELD personnel and identification tag. Time to be up front and face the consequences. Because everything with life comes with them.

It's time to have to talk on things and figure them out. And to have to deal with them. She would etner in and go to glance at Conner, "Hey. And thanks." She doesn't move towards the sandwiches, but slides towards a seat after taking the sword off to lean it against the table and slide it off her back. Then taking up her sidearm to put it to the side and remove the clip, putting the safety on.

Conner Kent has posed:
"Hey, MJ," greets Conner, standing up and offering her a seat. And... sword and gun. That should take some time to get used to, but it doesn't. He has dated several women that carry swords and guns already. He just didn't expect it from this particular one.

"I guess you have a side job to modelling, hmm?" He offers her a tray with sandwiches. "You hungry, it is late and... it is from the Hall kitchen, not a vendor machine. They have decent food."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would laugh, "It's my main job. Modeling's more something I do to help me remember what it's like. It's something I enjoy a lot. Same with acting. Just not something I really can pursue right now. Or really have I since I came to sharing some room with Sonja." She would go to sit down.

"And thanks. You did good work with saving people and stopping damage. You and everyone else."

Conner Kent has posed:
"No need to thank me, we were lucky no one was killed," replies Conner, with a wan smile. He takes a seat close to Mary Jane and sighs. "Well, given my line of work I can only approve your life choice. I think SHIELD does good work. I only wish you had told me before today. I mean, if nothing else, I am the kind of guy that would have understood it perfectly."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "Thanks. And I'm sorry for having not told you. But I'm not allowed to. That's one of the rules and regulations I have to follow. Everyone not with SHIELD that knows I'm Sonja isn't aware of it." She would crack a smile. Leaning up to squeeze Conner's hand.

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner hmms, he didn't know SHIELD was so secretive. After all FBI agents do not hide what they are. But Argus and Cadmus? Maybe they do. And they are creeps. "Well, damn. That is kind of unfair, forcing you to lie to friends and family," he clasps her hand. "Are you in trouble because now you are telling me? Are they going to force you to move or something?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "I'm a field agent, Conner. It's part of what the regulations are for someone relatively junior. It's something I can get in trouble for doing. What occured was considered exigent circumstances that permitted it. But ordinarily out of uniform unless it's an attack by a group that the United Nations security council has deemed a public threat or a national declaration of emergency, I couldn't have intervened as an agent." But she does have that giant sword!

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner suspect that it means she could and would have intervened as a civilian vigilante. Which is pretty much what his closest friends have been doing the last six years or so. His secret identity is pretty flimsy, but he knows Red Robin or Impulse have solid ones.

They don't have the protection of multinational army with a budget of billions, though. "Can't say I like those regulations, Red," he admits. "Then again I always say my friends I don't want to know their secrets," he leans back, "it is just... didn't expect it from you."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile a bit and would be sad, "It's not necessarily the life I'd have chosen looking ahead and if you'd asked me before it started. But it's the one I came into and the one that fits the two of us very well together. It gives me the room to make a difference. And to work with Sonja in ways that I couldn't just as a girl running around with a giant sword. It's a forum that fits her and lets the two of us work together."

Conner Kent has posed:
Lets not forget this is a party of three, yes. MJ might yet be the most complicated girl Conner has dated, and he has dated time travellers. "Good to know SHIELD has a place for millennia old barbarian swordswomen. I don't know if it would have been a selling point for any other job application," he teases. "Well, I guess there is not much more... except, I guess, I shouldn't tell anyone, right? Not even my team mates or the League."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would glance over at Conner for a moment over and frown. Then go to twitch her lips upwards, "You aren't listed as a member of the League or the Titans so I'm guessing that means something else that I'm not aware of." She would tease over. "And I appreciate that. I don't mind it but just say it to people that need to know if it comes up. I trust you. But tell people for a reason."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner hand-waves about being here. "This place is safe, and good for talking about the kind of thing we do. I have been here a bunch of times. If you need help, this is the place to go in Metro."

He thinks about her words a few seconds, then nods. "I can work with that. Hey, now if I need SHIELD's help, I can call you. I think some of my team mates have the Black Widow in their Whatsapp list. I might be a bit jealous."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "I'm good with that." She would laugh, "And poor those of you that have it. And there's a few Black Widows. I think they're all rather scary. Hope you don't have to be in the same area as an of them while they're in business mode. That would get pretty scary quickly. You don't want to see them working. And thanks. I really appreciate everything and you being so understanding." She would give him a hug.

"But also I still am going to have to keep secrets. A lot of things I can't talk about or mention, and I won't be able to tell you."

Conner Kent has posed:
Conner stands when MJ comes to hug him, and chuckles. "I work with plenty of scary people, some of are good friends." Was he understanding? He still feels somewhat uncomfortable about the situation, but hugs usually help. "Well, tell me what you can, okay? I'll try to do the same, but I also knows secrets that affect many others and I can't talk about. Now I know you are a secret agent, I... well, I know."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "All right. And I guess it's not very secret. I mean, I was the one yelling it out over in public while firing a gun to make sure tha tpeople saw it. So I suppseo I have to work a bit over on that end of things."

Conner Kent has posed:
There might have been a few pictures of MJ in cell phones, yes. But that is SHIELD's problem. There are probably far more pictures of him. Sooner or later someone is going to publish in a newspaper that Superboy is Conner Kent and a student in the ESU. But so far so good. It is probably not a very interesting story.

"I can hide you if you need to hide, y'know? My... er, Superman has a chateau in the pole. Neat place. And then there are a lot of hideouts in Gotham where Hydra is not going to dare to go." He is joking, mostly joking. "Do you still want dinner?" They can move into less serious issues.
