Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Kora Ikassis, Namor

Kora Ikassis has posed:
A neat pile of armor lays on the empty pier, corselet, a paneled skirt of leather and linen, shin guards, and leather sandals topped by a shield. A brightly colored towel saying, "I won this at Atlantic City!" lies next to the belongings.

Their owner is some hundred feet below, unbothered by the depth that would set free-diving records. Unlike most free divers, Kora wears no particular gear, only a pair of fins and goggles. Just on the edge of the light from above, the young woman glimmers as she kicks herself farther away from the pier toward the open ocean, her dark hair caught up into an intricate braid floating behind her.

Namor has posed:
The ocean is always moving, always shifting. Yet something causes a strange change in that movement, counter to the current that is flowing in that area. Whatever is causing it is moving fast, the water sluicing around the form effortlessly.

Namor was on his way to check the construction of the new armaments in the area of the Starport. Imagine his surprise when he saw a woman, this far down. He comes to a sudden stop, a wave moving out from that spot in a circular pattern. He floats there, dark eyes narrowing. A glance up above toward the surface then back to the woman. Fins. Goggles. No tanks of air? No suit to keep warm as the waters here are chill to humans.

Which makes him wonder if she is indeed a human. He suddenly moves forward in the water, moving to intercept her. "Greetings."

Kora Ikassis has posed:
The dark shape spearing toward her from below sets Kora on alert. She pauses, legs drawn up, remembering all the careful instructions she received from her father, Glaucus, on how to face an underwater threat. The shape becomes clearer as it approaches and she is both relieved and troubled by the human form. In her limited experience, only the gods or demi-gods can have a human form underwater. Unless...

"Hail," she replies with a wave of her hand, a trail of bubbles rising from her mouth. She has not held conversation with another being in the water since she left her home. Belatedly, she adds, "Well met."

Namor has posed:
There is no hiding Namor's surprise. His eyebrows go up a bit and his lips part slightly. She was not Atlantean. Yet, she could speak underwater. That was not normal among humans. At least, not in his experience. Unless she was a mutant? Yet they tended to be less human in looks when they could adapt fully to living under water.

A mystery.

"You seem to be in your element, though I do not know you. I am Namor the First, King of Atlantis." Which he didn't really look very royal or kingly considering he was wearing what amounted to a green speedo. "Also called the Sub-Mariner by the surface dwellers. I am...guessing you are one from above? How come you to the depths?"

Kora Ikassis has posed:
Straightened now, she moves her arms in a circular motion to keep her place, her fins beating lazily back and forth to maintain her depth. She bows her head, the tail of her braid rising and falling behind her.

Kora's green eyes under the goggles, perhaps her most remarkable feature beyond breathing underwater, examine her interlocutor a moment before she answers. "Your highness. I am from both here and above," she says, the barest smile forming. "Though not of your kind."

Namor has posed:
That has Namor tilting his head slightly, as though presented with a riddle that he isn't sure of the answer. His brow knits slightly.

"From here but not of Atlantis. Are you a representative of Poseidon?" Because he does know of that Olympian, as many of the Atlanteans worshipped that particular god. Or at least gave him the respect due his position. It wasn't like they were on a person basis though.

"I do not mean rudeness but what are you? And may I know your name?"

Kora Ikassis has posed:
"No offense is taken, sir. My father worships Poseidon for he is the one who made him thousands of years ago. But I am of recent birth." Some instinct pushes Kora to be cautious around the Atlantean. Perhaps tales heard at her mother's knees surface; tales of strife between ocean dwellers and the Amazons. None of these doubts show on her young face indistinguishable from any modern day Greek.

"I am Kora Ikassis of Themyscira." She inclines her head somewhat again, brought up to respect her elders and strangers who may be dangerous.

Namor has posed:
That just made things even more confusing.

"Themyscira?" Indeed, in the past there had been problems between the Amazons and Atlantis but they were working past those differences. Though, it wasn't hugely public. Not everyone knew about the Starport and that it was a joint venture with three different nations. All three being nations cloaked in a lot of mystery.

"And the daughter of one created by Poseidon himself. I suspect you are unique among the world perhaps. I was not aware that one of our world had gone to Themyscira."

He considered a moment, eyes intense as he watched her. "Your mother is Themysciran?" Because that would explain it. If her father was of the ocean, though he was curious who this father was, but she was raised as an Amazon, how had she come to be on that Isle.

Kora Ikassis has posed:
His confusion disarms her enough to be less wary, "Yes, she is Themysciran. My father, Glaucus, rescued her one night in a terrible storm when she was swept overboard."

She pauses, a smile forming, as she shrugs, "I am the result of a stormy night at sea, it seems. My mother only returned home some two years ago. Perhaps, I am not so unique - my father has had other children that I've never met." What she doesn't add is her father's penchant for a pretty face or leg.

Namor has posed:
The name of her father is filed away. Something for him to research later. Or have someone research for him.

Her tale reminds him of something though. First it is his own youth. And the love found at that time with a surface dweller. Unlike Claucus, he wasn't one to just fall for pretty for pretty-sake. It was rare his heart had been captured by another. That thought led to the faintest of smiles starting on his face.

Unfortunately, he also remembered a certain upstart sea hobo who was the offspring of another such situation. Though that was an Atlantean woman with a surface dwelling human. And that led to the person he was currently in conflict with much of his time.

Thus that almost smile turned into a very grumpy frown of annoyance. THough it was aimed at the hobo, not at her, it wouldn't really be possible for her to know that. "I see." He glances off to the side, as though he is searching the horizon for something (despite them being some distance underwater).

Kora Ikassis has posed:
The man does not hide his feelings which troubles her. She allows the current to widen the distance between them when he frowns. The frown sends her down a number of paths, none of which she voices. Time on Themyscira and the upbringing received on the small island where she spent her childhood taught her to never question her place in the world and to respect that of others.

"My mother returned to Themyscira with me. It was a bargain struck between my father and her. I understand why she missed it," she adds, nodding several times.

"But, now, I live above in a city. New York. Our princess brought me here to be part of the changing honor guard at the port." She gestures back toward where she swam from.

Namor has posed:
That brings Namor's attention back where he had started from. The frown disappears and he nods to Kora. "You must truly be gifted to be among the Honor Guard of the Princess." Which has all those frowns and annoyance gone like fog burned off by the sunlight.

He gives another slight smile. "I have heard Themyscira is a sight to behold. Though I have never visited." The smile broadens a bit. "For obvious reasons." That whole being a guy thing interfering!

"Though I must ask that you forgive me, I was on my way to inspect a building project outside the Starport." Where new armaments were being built to deal with the entire fiasco of escaping starships. Though he thought about it and realized he should probably see about strengthening the generators that powered the shields. If that would help with keeping things in...or out.

"It has been a pleasure meeting you. Perhaps we can speak again in the future. I would learn more of you." Really her father. And how he might affect Atlantis, if at all. Considering he had lived a long time, according to her, but Namor hadn't heard of him hopefully meant he would stay out of their affairs.
