Date of Scene: 16 October 2022
Location: Swordfish Bar (SHIELD)
Synopsis: Jessica stumbled into a new bar, that was a bit peculiar
Cast of Characters: Jessica Jones, Mary Jane Watson

Jessica Jones has posed:
There are very few bars that Jessica Jones hadn't been to in New York City, so when her latest case brought her to this area, it was a godsend to find the Swordfish nearby, offering a quick drink before she can go home for more drinking. By sheer happenstance she made the door in a moment where the guy that's supposed to play bouncer was distracted by a call with the boss, allowing her to go into what is essentially the very door step of SHIELD, entirely unknowingly. But that's okay, the cover up is good, and it is a functional bar, so she doesn't even have a clue about what she stumbled upon, as she heads towards the bar counter.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
The Swordfish is an open secret as to who it primarily caters to. That makes it a lot more peaceful most of the time than other bars. The place is clean, the agents are generally pretty casual, and the place is pretty well maintained. Mary Jane is currently covering a shift over behind the bar. She tends to find it a bit relaxing, even as she goes to mix a drink. She glances over at Jessica, "So what'll it be?"

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica definitely takes note of how clean this place is, how nice and well behaved everyone seems to be, and then there's a total bombshell working the bar. Maybe if Jessica was more into fashion she'd have a clue it's Mary Jane Watson, but even without the knowledge, that kind of looks seem wasted in a bar. "Hi...I guess a question, why are you here?" Jessica laughs, as she sits down, "I'll have scotch, don't care which..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would go to work on mixing a drink, "Oh, I'm tending the bar here. You happen to want anything or just browsing the menu?" She would inquire cheerfully. If Jessica were paying attention, a lot of the patrons in the bar would be wearing various off-duty outfits of military or intelligence agencies, or at least have the trim on them. THere's a lot of banter, but almost none of the general arguing and high pitched taunting that goes around a bar quite often.
"I really do like the nachos and chicken wings here if they're your thing."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica usually keeps her observations to herself, unless she absolutely has to say something, and as a P.I. she's a pretty keen eye to reading a room and the people in it. She definitely realizes she's not in the usual run of the mill NYC bar. "I try and keep to a liquid diet," Jess chuckles, "but thanks for the tip. So...you're seriously bar tending here? I mean...you could probably get in movies or magazines with your looks."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would laugh, "Hey, I'm still working my way up from the bottom. THe roles I get are 'extra #13' in the background of a film shoot or 'girl that smiles holding up toothpaste' in a commercial. Wearing clothes on a runway is about as far as I go." She would stretch over. "So I take it that you'll be getting a few of everything?"

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Is that it...?" Jess asks, sounding doubtful, before cracking up in laughter at MJ's prior movie credits, "well, that's better than me, Ugly Girl Nobody Wants To See." She shakes her head, "I'll keep to whiskey, thank you. Anyways, if your boss is a creep, let me know, I'm good with those. Got experience."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would shake her head, "Oh, no, he's not a creep. If anything he's scary enough to keep eveyrone here completely in line and cooperative. If that gives you an idea how terrifying he is." Bunch of people in a bar, a lot of them wearing some sort of combat or uniform civilian wear/fatigues, and there's almost total peace in the place.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Well that's good, unusual but good," Jess notes as she reaches for her drink and immediately downs half the glass. "So he ex-military or something?" Jess asks by way of small talk.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would shrug, "Far as I'm aware current, maybe some other things. Most of the folks the guy who owns here works with at least have that reputation." She goes to pass along a refill even before the drink is finished.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Oh...? Remind me not to get on his bad side then," Jess empties her drink, and extends the glass for a refill before sipping the second more slowly. "Well good luck to you, whatever it is you wind up doing."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
That would elicit a giggle from Mary Jane, "Oh, if anyone here does, they'll know it. And a big break's not going to happen. You have to work your way from the bottom up. It means auditioning dozens of times, not getting the part, working for slightly above minimum wage at a shift wherever you can get one so you can make sure you're free for an audition that comes up.." Refilling.

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Yeah...I'm definitely not cut out for that line of work," Jessica notes wih another swig, "sounds like I would wind up punching someone if I did that..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would pff, "Oh? If you're here I'd guess your line of work has you punching people a lot. Or shooting them. Or stabbing them. Most people here do that."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica looks around, arches a brow, looks back at Mary Jane, and chuckles, "maybe that is more my place to hang out at, though stabbing isn't really my style."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would laugh, "Hey. desperate measures. You don't seem the normal type to come down here. So what drwas you out to this side of the state?"

Jessica Jones has posed:
"My work has me moving about a lot, that's the nature of it, and I've yet to visit this bar, so had to check it out," Jessica notes, still unaware of what she's actually stumbled into it, her idea is more like it's a veterans watering hole. Makes sense they'll keep to similar company.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would oh, "So where do you serve then? If you do at all. Or you just a downtown girl?" The redhead would inquire over while bringing another bottle of whiskey over without prompting.

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica looks rather pleased for another bottle to be brought over without her explicitly asking, clearly Mary Jane has an eye to the type of drinker she is. "Nice," she comments, before grinning and simply shrugging off the question with "classified." If anything, she understood enough that now isn't the time for truths, and the reply she choose is likely quite standard.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would pff, "Fair enough, can't begrudge you that." SHe was one to talk after all. She clearly wasn't the type who would hang out here - or that might be tending the bar for a one off shift. "So should I bring a couple of bottles over? You want any variety? Vodka?"

Jessica Jones has posed:
"Single Malt Whiskey, I keep it clean," Jessica replies, before pouring herself another glass. "I appreciate your serivce, I'll call you when it's time to pay, I'll just have a few more..."

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would shake her head, "Hey, I'm just tending here tonight. Nothing to thank me for. And sure, I'll just keep 'em coming. Just make sure you can cover it, this place doesn't do tabs."
