Mistaken Fiendentity
Date of Scene: 19 October 2022
Location: Pandamoanium Club, New York City
Synopsis: Patience and Sera meet chasing the same person; one for a demon the other a bounty. They join forces and take him down.
Cast of Characters: Sera, Patience Alperen

Sera has posed:
From time to time Sera checks her phone. There's a photo of the man she's after on it. It's a simple bounty, so she thinks, but the guy has been on the lamb from his court appearance for seven months now. Usually when it gets that cold the police and the bounty hunters give up.

Sera is stubborn though and she's pretty sure the guy is frequenting Pandamoanium Club, a large club with neon painted walls, dark purple lights, and rave music blasting everywhere you turn. A twisty maze of rooms and hallways with no less than 7 mini-bars spread throughout the club. It's a popular destination and is, as usual, packed.

Wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, and a black t-shirt that says "Acute Angle" in white letters given to her as a gift, she's trying to blend in and not seem like she's hunting down a fugitive. It's easy enough, most people are focused on themselves and their friends.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen wasn't here for a bounty. But when someone else's bounty happens to be a demon who devoured and replaced the man said bounty was placed upon? There is every chance that something noteworthy probably about to happen.

Wandering into a rave club dressed like a, well, warrior nun, is bound to get the wrong sort of attention. And yet, here Patience is, dressed in black and crimson armor with gold higlights and a cloak about her form. At least with the cloak drawn closed she can past as just another Gothling into the drama. Gothlings can enjoy raves too. Right?

Making her way through the crowd, Patience holds a short, splintered length of wood in her hand - a portion of the shaft that is The Spear of Destiny. It is the only fragment of the Spear she currently possess. Let's not go there right now.

Sera has posed:
Hearing a target is next to impossible with the loud sounds of people trying to talk over the even louder music. The constant bass rumbles through bodies and Sera can't say she doesn't enjoy it - she just prefers to be able to hear people.

Relying entirely on sight she is searching through faces and weaving through the crowd. She spies whom she thinks might be her target. He's ahead of her by several bodies and making his way around a corner in to a hallway. This gives her a sense of the chase and she starts to push people out of the way to get through. She's stronger than her lithe body would suggest.

Turning a corner she runs in to a very tall, very big man. And by run in to, she ploughs straight in to him knocking him over and forcing other people to squish back against the walls. He looks rather angry as he scrambles back up to his feet. He gives Sera a very strong shove but with just a small step back she halts herself. His confused expression is met with Sera lifting up a finger and waggling it back and forth 'no no'.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen doesn't need to hear her target. She can sense her quarry. In a way, the suffocating volume of the club helps by eliminating one of her senses and letting her focus on her inner sight, honing in on where Razrunith is located in the building. Or Razrunith the Greater if one listens to his inflacted opinion of himself.

Finding that same corridor, but from the other direction, Patience sees the large demon in human form rising up near the other woman. A woman she cannot get any sense or feeling from. That... is unsettling.

Holding the splintered Spear shaft in hand, she speaks above the lessened din of music in the corridor.

"Razrunith. You've run out of places to hide. You and your thrall will go no further." Thrall? Does she mean Sera?

Sera has posed:
Sera shouts at the man trying to talk over the intense music, "Paul McKenzie! You're under arrest for missing your court hearing." He cups his ear as if to pretend not to hear. A small smirk on his lips and then he looks past Sera and spies Patience.

A bounty hunter is not nearly as big of an issue as whatever the heck Patience is - someone who knows his true name. Even if the bounty hunter is hard to push around. He grabs a small blonde woman and shoves her at Sera, who catches her in her arms. Then, the demon is pushing and rushing down the hall.

Sera awkwardly sets the blonde aside and starts to chase after him, unawares of the Patience behind her declaring her a thrall. That couldn't possibly have been about her after all. She's been called a legit snack but never a thrall.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Dammit.

There is a song called The Rub. It's last line is:

_I hope he makes bail; I love it when they run._

In this moment Patience is decidedly not happy that Razrunith decides to do just that; run.

Seeing that Sera was left behind, it fits. Leave it to a demon to throw their minions to the wolves in order to save themselves. With a glance to Sera, Patience decides to go after her quarry. The thrall will be.. easier(?) to track down later. Perhaps. That odd lacking of a sense of good or evil off of Sera is troublesome in its own way.

Sera has posed:
Sera peers at Patience. She's dressed much like many of the ravers but few of them are carrying a broken stick around. There's something odd about her beyond that though and she's not sure. Still, she's not going to let some other bounty hunter nab her prize.

Paul aka Razrunith bursts out on to the roof top of the buildind. The night air is crisp and the sounds of cars honking echos up from the streets.

Sera chases after Patience and grabs at her shoulder to pull her back so she can overtake her, racing up the stairs and out on to the roof just in time to see the man jump off the building. "SHIT!," she yells and runs to the edge. No splat. He's on the ground running away. "What in the world..." she states more to herself than to anyone else, likely Patience. The bounty file didn't say anything about being meta or mutant or superpowers.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen is pulled back - much to her displeasure - because she is only humanly strong. Dammit! She continues after Sera and Razrunith. As they burst out onto the rooftops, she pulls a small vial of water, pouring it across the splintered shaft. Drawing upon the powers of the Glacier Stone - an artifact she wears on a chain around her neck, her hands flare silvery-white as the length of wood is coated with ice - ice that extends to form a full spear shaft and deadly looking tip - an exact replica of the Spear of Destiny's tip.

Skidding to a stop at the edge of the roof just behind Sera, she growls in frustration, "SHIT!"

Spinning the staff, she turns to face Sera.

"Well if he's going to live for another night at least he'll soon be without a thrall to help him." The look in her eyes is of determination. She knows how to fight.

Sera has posed:
Sera frowns. Neither of them get the bounty tonight it seems. "Now you listen here. I had everything under con--" she turns to give the other bounty hunter a piece of her mind for spooking the pray when she sees that magical ice spear form. Her eyes widen a touch. She knows a threat when she sees one and that thing is menacing.

"Thrall? who are you calling a thrall?," she says with annoyance. Her eyes begin to glow a brilliant white and she parts her lips, singing an angelic song in tones and sounds foreign to this planet. Brilliant white wings of energy burst from her back as a shield appears in her hand which she holds up in defence against that spear. This is not evil magic; oh no.. quite the opposite.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen steps back with surprise.

"... didn't expect that..."

She eyes Sera with renewed caution and respect. Her spear tip remains lifted but she doesn't seek to get close enough to use it. "You're .. " different would be a word for it. ".. not from Heaven's Host." She frowns. "But I can feel the good in your power. Finally."

She lowers her spear tip bwlow the horizontal. "I'm sorry. I wasn't able to get a sense of your nature inside. So near to Razrunith, it seemed you were one of his servants."

Sera has posed:
Sera's lips pinch together a little and she lowers her shield just a touch. Her hand relaxes and it evaporates in to little dots of white light that quickly fade out of existence. Her wings bunch up behind her and she looks Patience up and down. Heaven's Host?

Lifting up a finger, then another, "I'm not sure which question should come first. So - you're not a bounty hunter and you're calling that guy Razrunith? His name is Paul McKenzie. He was meant to appear in court to face charges of violent crime but he skipped on bail."

She folds her arms and tries to keep up with the weirdness of this interaction, "And no. I am from Heven," she states with a slightly weird accent to the word. "I'm an angel." A nod toward the spear, "And that is some kind of magical weapon?" An eyebrow is raised though. A servant of something called Razrunith. That's a first for her.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen nods slowly. "I can see that you're an angel. Just.. not from the Heaven of God and his host of angels. I would be foolish to not realize there are other sources of angels. I.. made a careless assumption. Twice it would seem. I apologize."

She looks down to the ice spear and nods. "It is, I suppose you could say. More... Holy. The ice is formed from Holy Water. The sort that our friend would not survive an encounter with. Your Paul McKenzie is actually death I am sorry to say. I found him a week ago in a one room apartment in Harlem. He was killed and replaced by that creature. A demon. Razrunith the Greater. A demon of arrogance and pride. He is much easier to look at in Paul's form, I must say."

Sera has posed:
Sera's shoulders relax and she lets her arms drop as they begin genuine dialogue now that the initial confusion has passed. "Huh..." There's that God fellow again. Midgard is a confusing place. She offers her hand to Patience, a touch of glowing white magic still flicking around it.

"I'm Sera. Part time bounty hunter but now that you've said the magic word - demon - I will change my approach. And you therefore must be a demon hunter." She smiles a moment. "Arrogance and pride. No bounty to be had. I might as well help you. That is, if you still want to catch your demon tonight."

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen lifts the spear to serve as a staff, tip pointed to the sky. It doesn't dissolve because, well. Holy ice can be kept frozen and unmelting if only because of the Glacier Stone's abilities. It has its own magical aura and signature.

"Hello Sera. I'm Patience." She offers her hand as well, shaking Sera's firmly. "I am.. an Agent for the Most Holy. A servant of God. Hunting demons is one part of what I do. But if I'm honest, it tends to be a larger part of what I do lately anyway." Her tone is friendly if a bit wry toward the end.

"I do intend to banish him, still. Though he does have a head start and knows that two of us are after him." She smiles a little. "I don't suppose you can track him from the sky?"

Sera has posed:
Sera nods her head a touch hesitantly. A servant of this God fellow. Well, what could possibly go wrong - it's not like he's going to tattle on her to Hel; or bridge the realm of Heven back to the rest of space and unleash the large angry hoards of angelic warriors upon the rest of the realms.

"Sure. He knows we're after him. But he doesn't know I'm an angel." She grins a moment, "Yet." She looks around the roof top and says, "Track from the sky? my eye sight isn't that good. But we can certainly track him now that he's known to us."

With a hand sweeping over the roof top she begins to sing those strange lilting sounds again, creating magic out of her singular chorus. A shadow of the demon bursting through the doors plays back like a hologram as he runs over to the edge and jumps. There is a dark shadow accompanying him now that Sera knows he is a demon.

She reaches out and grasps that black cord and pulls. It spreads out before them like a ghostly dark trail heading down alleyways. She offers an arm to Patience. "If you don't mind being carried, I believe your demon went that-away." Her wings spread out. Yes, she is absolutely going to fly them after the demon.

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen watches the magic scrying portal materialize with a bit of interest. "That's a lovely trick" she cannot help but observe. Seeing the demon as if on video playback is fascinating. Then Sera has a means of marking or tracking the demon and she cannot help but feel more impressed. "That would make my job so much simpler. I usually have to rely on old fashioned detective work.." she notes dryly.

Looking curious, she considers. "I don't mind being carried. But I do mind being dropped" she adds with a smile. "But.. I feel I can trust you. And if not, this is going to be a very short flight at that."

Sera has posed:
Sera gets a pang of an ancient memory. Exhausted, trapped, Angela offering a hand. 'I've got you little one, I won't drop you'. She shakes her head a moment and smiles at the thought. "I won't drop you," she states and wraps her arm about Patience.

Strong. Asgardian levels of strong. She holds Patience as she then runs and dives off of the building top. The wings spread and she glides down between the buildings easily catching up with the dark trail and passing over the demon still making a run for it.

She pulls to a stop midair and her wings beat, thrashing the air about them. She lowers them down to the ground in front of Razrunith and smirks at him. Her powerful magic, its mere presence, seems to be causing the demons skin to blister. "He's all yours."

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen nods. "I know. Don't mind me. Gallows humor." She finds a way to wrap her arm around Sera where she isn't interfering with the function of those quite important wings. Then they're off the ground and Patience is swallowing her stomach. This is quite a different sort of experience than riding in a jet. Obviously.

As they fly over the city and streets below, Patience can be heard softly whispering. The words are mostly lost to the winds but it would seem that she is praying and preparing herself for this final confrontation with the demon.

That they were able to close the distance with a demon this quickly is not lost on Patience. Sera is clearly possessing many impressive abilities.

Set on the ground in front of Razrunith, Patience watches the demon skid to a stop. He looks decidedly uncomfortable in the moment.

Focusing on the demon the dark clad Magdalena draws her cloak open to reveal her holy armor with the symbol of the Church upon it, the holy cross. There are other weapons her cloak concealed as well. Two katanas, a number of wooden stakes, and two pistols. She clearly came to play.

"Demon! In the name of our Holy Lord, God the Father, the Holy Spirit, and of our Lord Jesus Christ - I banish you, unclean spirit, by your vile name - Razrunith the Greater, demon of arrogance and pride. You will not walk this plane any longer. Return to Hell and torment the innocent and helpless no more!"

To the casual onlooker it certainly must seem like a LARP or Cosplay scene playing out before them. Except for the part where Razrunith roars in an unholy and sickening screach of rage and pain as he is impaled by the holy water tip formed from the shaft fragment of the Spear of Destiny.

That part isn't special effects or acting. The gritted teeth shown as Patience drives the tip deep and then snaps it off within Razrunith.

The silver-white holy light that begins to erupt from within his chest.

Or the baleful portal that opens under his feet, from which clawed hands grab and pull at him even as a rush of brimestone infused heat and flame rises upward to consume the demon even as his essence is pulled back into that portal just before it constricts and dissolves with a roar.

In its absence, the alleyway is suddenly silent but for the breathing of the two women and perhaps the beating of Sera's wings.

Sera has posed:
Sera feels the leash she had on the demon turn to black ash in her hands. She dusts them clean. Her wings disappear in a fluttering of white light and her glowing eyes fade back to brown. Just a regular looking human once more. 'Acute Angle' t-shirt and all.

She stuffs her hands in to the leather jacket pockets and smiles to Patience. "That was dramatic. The words and all that. And your prayer. I wouldn't have let any harm come to you. But I understand how threatening those creatures can be."

Still, Patience made light work of the demon using that spear - that was not lost on her. She's rather impressed by it actually. "I'm still a little sad the man I was after is already dead. If you could give me the address I can have his case file closed at the very least."

Patience Alperen has posed:
Patience Alperen relaxes as the portal disappears. The length of shattered staff is put away securely as she turns toward Sera.

"There is a process. Something of a formula that must be followed. The laws of Heaven and Hell are rather defined and narrowly at that." She pulls her cloak hood back to free her hair with a shake, she smiles.

"Thank you for your help, Sera. It would have taken me much longer to track him had I been alone." Then she nods, "Yes. One moment." Taking out her phone, she brings up a page with the address where she had found the remains of poor Paul. "It was a week ago, now. I don't know of anyone has been there after me. There may be nothing left of his remains."
