Profile
Sera is a transgender Angel who escaped Heven, escaped Hel and learnt to transform the Angel Songs in to her own magic. She is a sorceress and an avid lover of all things beautiful. She is a defender, an ally. Her past haunts her though, and even though she survived it, it frightens her, she has seen her possible futures and wishes to avoid as much pain as possible. She will be your guardian angel if you treat her right.
Timeline
Timeline:
* 611 - Sera is born, one in a hundred - so rare, so precious, a male angel. Sera was an Anchorite and therefore locked away in a temple to learn to pray for the female angels, to learn to sing the hymns, to do nothing else, never to speak, never to break the cycle of their duties, not to dream, not to have a life of their own.
* 1144 - Sera followed a Hierophant to the temple's furnace and peered in to it, seeing her past, present and possible future. Sera was caught in the act and used magic in self defence.
* 1213 - A stranger enters the temple to fight a monster, but this stranger called Angela was losing the battle. Sera once again used magic this time to defend Angela. As payment for service Sera requested help escaping the temple. They found a way to change Sera's gender to female so that she could leave.
* 1378 - While hunting fugitive a Hierophant caught up to the pair. The hierophant offered Angela knowledge of her true mother for the return of Sera to the temple, but when she declined Sera knew she truly loved Angela and found out with a kiss that Angela felt the same way.
* 1404 - Sera died at the hands of her enemies and went to Hel where she was once again imprisoned, a torture worse than her origin for she had tasted freedom. Sera met Leah and they bonded to find a way out of Hel.
* 2012 - Sera tricks Malekith the Accursed in to using her form in the living world so that she may get a message to Angela.
* 2020 - Angela rescues Sera and Leah from Hel. Sera settles on Earth in New York City to make a new life.

Personality
Guarded:
You can't make friends easily in Heven, not when you aren't allowed to talk to anyone else and your entire life is scripted in servitude. You can't make friends in Hel, not when they want anything you have even if the only thing you have left is the patch of dirt you're standing on. It has been hard for Sera to open up to anyone except Angela and Leah, but she's working on it. She has a lot of love to share when she feels safe with someone.
Guardian Angel:
When it comes to combat she knows where she stands. She's not the hero, she's not the knight in shining armor, she's not the brave one leading the charge. She's support, she's doing the weird songs that will help her friends win the day. She will have your back, she is your guardian angel.
Non-Confrontational:
Backed in to a corner she will fight, but if there's any other way out of it she'll try it. She does not like confrontation as she was trained from birth to be subservient. While she has never been good at being subservient she does tend to follow rather than lead.
Playful:
Things are meant to be made light of. The hymns she would be made to sing in honor of the female angels souls? well, she changed them because she could and because it wasn't allowed. She once won a horse gambling and named it Maximus Clop because it was cute and fun. You can't take life too seriously when you've already experienced the worst that both Heven and Hel can throw at you.
Queer:
It's easy to put human labels on Sera's life, like transgender or lesbian; but Sera is an Angel who was locked away for being rare and precious to the majority of her people. She broke free from their rules and the role dictated to her, from being 'him' to being 'her'. Her savior Angela happened to be female.. but in the Heven society this was expected, as all the men are locked up anyway. So the one she fell in love with was female and so she is now female. That makes her queer in the eyes of humanity then so be it, they wouldn't understand her life anyway.
Resilient:
Imprisoned in Heven for most of her young life, imprisoned in Hel for most of her adult life, Sera has learn to be resilient and patient. She knows when to bide her time and knows that heaven or hell, she will always find her way out.

Powers
Sorcery:
The songs that they sang in the Temple of Anchorites were magic. They were only to be sung one way and one way only in aid of saving the female angels souls. When an angel dies they do not go to heaven or hell, they simply stop existing - and so it was the job of the Anchorites to keep their soul alive, to give them an afterlife that they were denied.
But these songs had real power and Sera could not help but play with them, see what they could do. She felt the power flowing through her, making her eyes glow white and the white energy burst from her finger tips as she altered the songs. The songs were meant to create a heaven for those angels that had perished, but Sera discovered that instead of creating a heaven they could manifest other changes in reality around her - such as creating fire, or shields, or energy blasts. The breadth of her capabilities will take many lifetimes to uncover and that is a journey she is happy to take one step at a time.
She admits, she's quite rusty - but if doing magic will help those in need, well who is she to stop the song? at least they'll be put to a worthy cause for a change.
Skills
Artist:
The Temple of Anchorites was barren, bare, devoid of any beauty, as was Hel. Sera made it her duty to create art in all forms - singing, drawing, painting, poetry, dance, fabric. Any concept of artistic beauty she has encountered she has tried and cherished.
Combat:
Sera will never be a great warrior like the Asgardians or the Angels but hanging out with Angela she learnt a thing or two about staying alive. That came in handy when she was trapped in Hel; you had to fight for your own turf there or else someone would take it from you. She can handle her own in a fight, but she knows her best option is to hide behind someone bigger and stronger and aid them with her sorcery.
Concentration:
Not that she'd ever dare do it, she spent much of her life praying for the souls of angels and she knows they wouldn't lift a finger to help her. No, they want her captured, put back in the cage, she's too precious to be out and about on her own. Anchorites are too rare to be let loose. But all this prayer taught her the value of deep intense concentration. When she is not interrupted, she can let herself fall deeply in to the hymn, song, magic spell she is casting.
Resources
Angel Armor:
The glorious bronze, silvers and goldens of her armor have faded with time. It was second hand when she got it and has taken plenty of beatings since then. The delicate golden filigree ornately decorate the chest piece and shoulder pieces. Arm braces with gloves, grieves and boots make up the rest of the ensemble. The waist of the chest piece is styled like a wide belt and a skirt falls down to knee height from the sides and the back, leaving the front bare.
Weaknesses
Agoraphobia:
Having been imprisoned twice for hundreds of years each time Sera has difficulty handling environments and places that make her feel trapped. Small spaces, weird realms and realities, sometimes dreams or just sheets on the bed that are too tight. She breaks out in to cold sweats and cannot concentrate until she gets her breathing under control. The memories of her captivity haunt her.
Enemies:
The Angels want her locked in their temple cage. The hierophants want her locked in their temple cage. The minions of Hel want revenge for her escape. Her enemies are celestial and powerful, but at least they don't know where she is...
Ptsd:
Not once, but twice she lived a life where she had to be rescued. It's a hard fact to face that you are helpless to reality, to the whims of fate, to the power hungry and strong. The moment Sera feels that she is alone and is losing she begins to panic. The PTSD sets in, she finds herself unable to sing, falling in to a mental prison of fear and helplessness. It has been chiseled in to her that she will never be strong enough to stand on her own, to be victorious without the help of others.
Singing:
To do magic she must sing, for she twists the hymns of the Angels to create new magic in aid of her friends. If she cannot sing, whether because her voice is lost or she is under stress or gagged in some fashion, she is without any magical power at all.
