Cast of Characters: Toni Monetti, Mercy Thompson, Gabby Kinney, Cinque Evers

Toni Monetti has posed:
BIG GAY ICE CREAM. A place where the elite meet to eat sweet treats.

Toni Monetti is not that big and her gayness is not gonna be a signal part of the situation here, but she came in, behind what was only a fairly short line because traffic is pretty light in November, for some reason.

She adjusts the lapels on her extremely vaporwave-green jacket as she steps up to the counter and opens her mouth to order --

Her phone rings. It is set to Billy Joel singing 'heart at-tack-ack-ack-ack-ack', which makes Toni's carefully made up face contort in displeasure. "Hold on, I have to take this," Toni says, while continuing to stand right in front of the counter.

Click. "Hi Daddy, I'm busy."

"What do you mean what's with that tone? I'm BUSY! I was about to order something to EAT!"

"What do you mean where am I?? I'm in NEW YORK, Daddy! I told you! Oh my God! No I am NOT trying to sneak to the spaceport or something, holy shit, what is WITH you. Are you drunk? - I'm sorry - look, I'm - yeah, alright, I'm sorry I was out of line, you just sort of - what - Oh god," Toni rolls her eyes while turning a little to look back at other people in line (which may be other people conveniently present) while making a very exaggerated apologetic expression.

"Uh, next?" says the clerk, which makes Toni scoot over a little and laugh a little. ("No I'm not laughing at you! Something funny happened!")

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy is tired. She's got to coast a bit, but she can't just NOT work. So Mercy has been back to the grind stone and acting like she didn't get a big payday. This week has been rough and she's not feeling one hundred percent either. She would normally bakes, but today she needs some ice cream. That's why she's on the other side of the city and going to the place. She steps in and fails to fully bite back a growl at the crowd and the people. She almost turns around and leaves. But damnit! She wants a flavor and this is the best place for it. So she steps in the line. Glares at her feet and tries to shut out the word for the moment.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney didn't really think the icecream cared what her sexual preference may be one way or another, but she did care that the icecream was delicious. This place was usually so busy in Summer she skipped by it. Now, with the cooler weather making reasonable, rational people avoid cold foods, it gave her the perfect opportunity to head over to try the treat. Sure she might get brainfreeze... but she wouldn't know if it did.

Just like the others brave enough to attempt a frozen treat during colder temps she's waiting in line. The drama unfolding on the phone has her leeean to the side to stare at Toni from behind without even attempting to hide the fact that she was, indeed, staring. And staring more. Finally she pipes up loud enough to be heard on the phone (because she's ballsy like that), "Hey let your kid get her damned icecream before it snows, would ya!?"

No sooner are the words out of her mouth than she sniffs the air a single time, and turns to peer back at poor Mercy a person behind her. "Oh hey, Mercy," she greets cheerily in spite of what she'd just blurted before.

Cinque Evers has posed:
"Cinque unrolls some papers, "Hey, I am here to place two catering orders for Jamii's Shelter Thanksgiving and December holiday's party. Cinque tilts his head towards his right shoulder as he pretends to read the paper to remind him of the order, "It is a little bit different from the one we placed last year, and even a bit different from the one we placed in July."

Cinque traces his fingers over the piece of paper as he goes over his order, "Everyone was really feeling the American Glob, so can we get 100 American Globs, 50 Dorothys, 50 Salty Pimps, 60 Shortberry Shortcake, 100 Root Beer floats, and 100 Orange Fanta floats.

Cinque taps his left foot against the floor a few times as he waits for the clerk to catch up with his orders, "The last thing is Paletas about 100 of them, and 5 Truckers." Cinque rolls his eyes slightly as he mentions the Trucker ice-cream sandwiches, "I lost a bet about the Truckers to one of my staff. No offense, but I really cannot stand those things." Cinque finishes his order by reminding the clerk that items are Thanksgiving and December.

Cinque looks back at the line, "I can step to the side until you have more time to write down my order."

Toni Monetti has posed:
Gabby speaks in her defense. Toni finger-guns her and mouths Thank You, but it doesn't seem to carry over.

Toni glances to the side as someone actually steps forwards to order and it's a catering order.

"Uh, you need that... now? not tomorrow?" the clerk says, but Toni seems to be getting ~yelled at~ so all she can really do is glance towards the other people. Mood status, kind of low. After this, Toni adjusts things to put her phone on mute and looks towards Cinque to ask, "Wait, you had a bet about ice cream sandwiches?" while inching out of the way; another clerk is there, to accept the will of Gabby, Mercy, and doubtless other NPCs not otherwise mentioned!

She turns the mic back on to say, "Oh, daddy... yeah, I know... Look, I promise, I'm not gonna miss the last train. I'm not gonna get a drink at all. I want to finish the ice cream and shit - god, fine, and STUFF - and then I'll get on the train. I'll call you from Penn Station. Alright? Love you~."

Then she hangs up, head lolling back as she pantomimes sudden and immediate death.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy looks up and frowns and then realizes who' she's glaring at and relaxes. "Hey Gabby." She takes a slow breath, runs a hand along the back of her neck pushing her braided hair over her shoulder. "Sorry if you heard the growl. It wasn't at you specifically. I'm on edge. Stupid extend family drama and just..." she waves a hand. "How've you been?"
She turns her head a bit as she hears someone talking about the order for a shelter and pulls out her phone to see if it is a real shelter or not. Seeing what she can scan on her few years out of date 'smart phone' as she stands to give her order.
It takes real practice to not listen in on the other side of people's phone calls when you got ears like hers. She waits her turn and says, "I just need a Rocky Roadhouse please." Glancing at those around her and will step closer to the sheltering order guy and not toward Toni and her overbearing father. Though she does offer to Toni. "Steal his favorite shoe, cover it in glitter and put it atop the holiday tree if you got it. Great way to get even."

Gabby Kinney has posed:
"It's cool," Gabby assures Mercy with a knowing smile. "Half my family growls too, remember?" Of course she wasn't a werewolf or werecoyote--Her family was mostly just feral, she swears. Still they were family. Speaking of family she glances back over toward Toni while listening to the tail end of the phone conversation only able to give a small shrug in response to Toni. She tried.

With Cinque's order being placed she lets out a low whistle. "If that's the dessert catering got to wonder what the actual meal is. Also..." She pauses to squint up at the menu board. She DID know what she wanted up until so many other options were blurted out. "Ah, I'll just take a Drag Queen Stiletto Cone with extra sparkles."

Cinque Evers has posed:
Slowly raises his right eyebrow at the clerk before offering the clerk a polite smile, "No, I need one to be delivered on the day before Thanksgiving, and the same items to delivered on December 22. I always pay for the order a couple of weeks or months out, so we are able to get our ice-cream. I don't want to get freeze out." A big chesire grin appears on his face, "Freeze out, huh?.."

The clerk reponds to Cinque's pun with silence and touch of annoyance. Cinque lets out a nervous laugh as he puts his paper back in the pocket. Cinque lets out a small cough to gain a bit of composure, then points to a small table. "I will just be waiting over there. Take all the time you need." As he walks pass Toni, he answers her previous question, "Oh yeah, He bet me ice-cream if the Giants beat the Ravens, and they did. I would have got a chicken and waffle breakfast, if I won." Cinque quickly reaches into his wallet to pull out a business card to hand it to Gabby, "You can always come and see for yourself. We love to have volunteers on any of the dates.

Toni Monetti has posed:
"You know, that is a really good idea," Toni tells Mercy with a lift of the eyebrows. "No, though, he's just home right now and shit and mom's still out, so he's lonely and he probably got into the red wine. Always makes his same damn spaghetti dinner..."

When Toni gets the chance to order, she just gets a Dorothy cone. As she moves to the other side, she says to Cinque, "That is WONDERFUL. Where are you from again? Because this kind of ice cream is gonna brighten up anyone's holiday, I tell you what." (Cinque will probably get a manager to come talk to him in a period potentially exceeding the immediate scope of the scene.)

"So yeah, everyone, sorry I didn't HEY hold on," Toni shoves a $20 forwards at an angle, "hey, no! you! what's your name with the drag queen! Hi I'm Toni, you get free ice cream today. That seriously cheered me up."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy gets out her money to pay for her ice cream as she also pulls out an extra $20 and will hold it out to the guy. "Here. It isn't much but at least it's a small donation. If you take cooked products I'm not a half bad baker." She doesn't usually do holidays. Family is an odd thing. She looks over at Gabby then and says, "When in doubt, get multiple. We all burn the calories right?"
She nods to Toni who knows her family better then a stranger. "Just something to remember. I'm a firm believer in getting even and not taking it all lying down." She just seems to be trying to be here and not too attention getting. Glad to let Toni, Gabby and Cinque get more attention. She's pretty plane compared to most. She's still in jeans and a shirt after all.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney reaches out to accept the business card from Cinque letting her gaze drop down toward it to quickly read. It's tucked away into the front of her shirt. Not into cleavage as there wasn't much of that to speak of, but into an inside pocket that might have been added after-the-fact to her attire. For hiding things.

"Oh cool. Yeah I might, holidays aren't really a big thing for my family either. I mean we're kind of all over the place. I did enjoy getting to try turkey a few years ago though." Wasn't she a bit old to JUST be trying turkey? Eh.

When Toni steps forward to offer to pay she just laughs. "Sure if you want to. I'm Gabby," she introduces, and gestures toward Mercy as well. "And this is my friend Mercy. Just ran into each other here coincidentally, we both have a pretty large sweet tooth. And she DOES make excellent cookies and brownies." Mmmyes.

Cinque Evers has posed:
Cinque Evers peers down at his clothes for a moment and wonder does he really stick out in Manhatten. He quickly shrugs off the thought as he proudly states to Toni, "I live and work in the Bronx." Cinque extends his hand, "My apologizes, I am Cinque Evers. The holder of ice cream lines with late night catering orders." Cinque taps his left foot on the floor again, "This is really the only time I was able to make it down here."

Cinque turns to Gabby, "We are going have more than just turkey, duck, cornish hens, ham, and of course, my soon to be world famous seafood gumbo." Cinque lets out a soft laugh, "It is soon to be famouse, because I haven't had chance to market it to anyone who wants to get into the gumbo franchise business."

Toni Monetti has posed:
"I mean, I'm spending his money," Toni tells Mercy, with a wink. She finishes getting things organized and receives her cone, which she holds adroitly while reaching over to give Cinque a squeeze of a handshake. "It's great to meet you. So is this like a fundraiser dinner thing you're doing?" she asks him.

"Like I ain't got a lot of cash on me but I definitely want a card," Toni continues, tilting her head towards Gabby. She lets the turkey thing slide. Maybe she's from New Zealand or something.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy looks at Gaabby, "do you honestly think /a/ bird would satisfy my foster family. Usually more like a few stag." There's a little tension to her smile. "Thanksgiving was always a... tense time." When introduced she gives a little nod in greeting, "Hello."
Mercy can't help but lick her lips some at the thought of a hen. "Man a good fresh cornish hen can be great. I always enjoy a nice rabbit as well." Of course she doesn't have to do dishes her way either. She is happy to wait and take her treat when it comes as she leans against a counter enough to the side to not block progress for others.

Gabby Kinney has posed:
Gabby Kinney pauses to consider that a moment with lips pursed. A slow nod is given toward Mercy in apparent understanding. "To be fair there were several turkeys where I was, it was at school, but... That's probably still not gonna do it for your fam, no. I assume it was at least fresh and in season at least?" She's trying here. A quick grin is flashed, and she turns to get her order once it's made.

"Thanks for the icecream. Eh, I... I don't know. Holidays are tough all around I think."

Cinque Evers has posed:
:finishes writing out a receipt for Mercy, "Thank you for your donation. We are a non-profit, so ever little bit helps, and we would love to have fresh baked goods at anytime, and we would love if you like to teach a class." Cinque shakes his head as he reponds to Toni, "No, we just like to treat out guests to a good meal and dessert. Our guests come from all sorts of different life experiencs, and we find that most of them need some extra joy at the end of year."

Cinque turns back to Mercy, "If you know where we can get a good deal on rabbit, I can add it to the menu. Cinque furrows his brow, "I don't I know how to cook a stag, is that like venison?

Cinque casually peer around the shop as the different customers, and back to the group that he is speaking to about his shelter and dinners. Cinque thinks to himself that this is a good forever memory. "Holidays are tough, but they can be better if you can find people to share them with. We try to do that for our guests."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"I can imagine," agrees Mercy to Gabby. "What we had in the holidays was usually fresh. I didn't grow up with super markets exactly, nor malls." The comment of teaching a class has her looking a bit dubious. "I'll think on that. Baking is just something I do at times, and not sure if I'd be a good teacher." But at least it seems she'll think on it. "If you trust me," she tells Cinque, "I can hunt you some rabbit. Long as you got someone willing to clean them. I often go into the woods. and do some of that on my own." She can't help but show teeth as she grins, "in fact maybe a little outing and run is what I need to shake my mood some."
She takes her treat and gets a spoon to try a bite. "I always make sure to call my mother for the holidays, but she's often busy with my step sisters and her new family." She shrugs not bothered by it. "Last year I got to tear down a real nice '56 Bug and that was a lot of fun." She looks to the new people to explain, "I'm a mechanic. I like my job."

Toni Monetti has posed:
"Heh," Toni says to Mercy. "Yeah. It's funny, huh? Like it's a happy holiday but I guess it was happier when everyone was worn out from like, harvesting turkey or whatever." She takes another long lick/suck of her cone, looking towards Gabby meditatively.

She accepts the word of Cinque. "Rabbit... yeah, hold on, I may actually know a guy. Hold on." There is some juggling of her phone, and then a phone number of someone in Gotham who seems to be in Specialty Meats is provided to Cinque, potentially whether he wants it or not. Perfectly legitimate.

"That's a good thought," Toni says after, a little distantly. "Anyway, I oughta go or I *will* start missing trains and get my ass kicked. You guys all have a good night, okay!?" She drifts towards the door then, and before long, vanishes into the night.
