Cast of Characters: Barry Allen, Bart Allen

Barry Allen has posed:
It's a little late in the day for dinner, but Barry is working a difficult case and has been held up at the PD for most of the day, "Yeah, I'll be home in a few hours.. Sorry, Iris. This case..." His cellphone sits against his ear, craddled against his shoulder with his held tilt while he orders up a few dozen hotdogs at a stall not far from the front steps.

"... I know, I promise. Bart called, he's going to come have a late dinner with me to catch up. Should be here any minute." He smiles up at the man behind the till and pays for the food with a quiet, mouthed, 'thank you, keep the change', then starts back towards the steps where he's set to meet up with his grand-kid. "I'll tell him. Love you." The food is deposited so he can take the phone, disconnect the call, and slide it in his back pocket.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen did a quick run to Metropolis in costume, before finding a place not to far away from the MPD HQ to change back to his civis. He is excited but also a bit nervous. He and Barry have not had many chances to talk, they met once, and then on the second time, Bart got to see Barry's pet turtle and let him know he was studying veterinary medicine. So, he is running a hand through his hair as he walks up to meet his grandfather.

Barry Allen has posed:
A few minutes is a very long time for the fastest man alive. Barry devours one of the hotdogs while he waits, but grins when he sees Bart making his way around the corner, "Hey!" Hand over his head waving, flagging the younger Allen down and directing him over to the stoop where he's resting on the steps. "Good to see you." He says as he pushes up and steps closer.

"Jeez, feels like it's been years." Which, for a Speedster? That might not be out of the realm of possibility. Who knows how long they go, when they go away? Where they go... or how? "I got hotdogs, couldn't remember if you were a vegan or not."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen shakes his head and says "Na, I am good with meat, I just like to try to make sure the animals were treated right before hand. I mean like there is this noodle place in Gotham, that keeps chickens in small cages before they cook them. I stop by there and buy all the chickens I can and take them up to this farm I know of up state. " He tells the man, speaking a bit quickly, but not at speeds. "I mean it is part of nature animals eat animals." He does take one of the hotdogs and it is gone pretty quickly "Glad your back, Wally just returned recently too."

Barry Allen has posed:
"That's pretty cool." Barry doesn't point out how awkward it is that he's having a conversation with a grand kid he hasn't had the son for yet, but that's besides the point. He holds up the box of a dozen or so hotdogs and a few cups of fries. "I don't know how well treated the animals were, I admit, but it's Metropolis, so probably pretty well." Then he resumes sitting and grabs one of the dogs for himself.

Nodding along with the news Wally was also back, "That's good to hear. Got word someone was standing in for us while we were both M.I.A..." He glances side long at at Bart and smirks around the hovering hotdog bun. "Wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen blushes a bit and runs his hand through his hair again, luckily no hotdog remains on it "Well, I sorta figured needed to make sure the villains did not know that you were not about. I only did it a few times, but figured enough to keep them watchful. " He takes another hotdog and some of the fries. "I am sure Irie would have helped, but she had some issues of her own when I was doing it."

Barry Allen has posed:
Squints at the mention of Irie, but shakes his head. Not placing face to name, but that doesn't mean he hasn't met her. Just that everything is in Flux as he returns... these things happen, it's totally normal. Besides, at least right now, his full attention is on Bart. "Just decided to suit up and make sure everyone knew huh?" He has a stern tone, but not a lecturing one.

It doesn't last.

Shortly after Barry breaks into a clipped laughter, "I'm screwing with you. That was pretty smart thinking. I'm sure Wally would say the same." He eats another hotdog in pretty rapid succession to the last, then dabs his mouth with a napkin. "Anyways, how have YOU been? Who is Irie?"

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen says, "I am doing pretty well, been running with the Outsiders, and occasionally the Titans. Work and school has keep me occupied some, I can study at speed or clean at speed, but when I am around or on camera, I have to make sure, you know that is. And Iris is your, or will be your grand niece. She is Wally's daughter. Are you married to Grandma I..I wondered if your married yet." Yup he about lets something slip, he thinks Barry is already married to Iris, but it might be best to try not to let to many things slip, even if at times he does it without thinking."

Barry Allen has posed:
Barry inclines his head at the information, "Ah..yeah, I suppose I should probably get around to meeting her, then." All these grand-children, if he weren't already accustomed to it. He shakes his head and laughs at that internal thought, that he could possibly get use to something like that. "We are, yeah. A few years now. Speaking of which, she told me to tell you hey and invite you to dinner sometime. Said she'd love to meet you." Because Barry doesn't hide much from Iris.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "I would love to meet her again for the first time." He gets to use one of those time traveler lines. He is munching on his food as they talk. I will let Jay and Joan know your back in town." He munches a bit more "I don't live with them any more, I moved out a while ago, but recently moved back to Gotham." He tells him the adress "A building, used to be in NYC, a magic building with a lot of magical folks living there, but all good guys."

Barry Allen has posed:
"A magical buidling with a lot of magical people." Barry laughs at that and tilts his head into a single nod, "Sounds about right, yeah." He scarfs down another hotdog and a whole bag of fries in record time. "Just be careful in Gotham. Different set of rules in that city, ya know? Big B doesn't like it when people go playing in the darkest sandbox on earth... or he didn't. Maybe he's lightened up?" There is a lot of doubt in his tone.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen makes a so-so motion and says "Not really, but I try to make sure they can't tell it was a speedster. Like one time, I used the smoke to cover me, and beat up a few guys, and then pulled out a batman action figure, and a mag light to put his shadow on the wall making the bad guys think it was him. Then another couple of times, I made some ganger think I was a ghost in a yellow rain slicker."

Barry Allen has posed:
Laughing at the descriptions, Barry wipes his fingers off with a napkin and passes the rest of the hotdogs over to Bart, sitting it down between them. "That was pretty quick thinking. I'm sure he's loosened up a little, by now. Use to be that if you got within a few miles of Gotham, you'd get a call on your personal cellphone 'Barry, you know you shouldn't be in this part of Jersey.'" He puts on his best, which isn't very good, Batman voice.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "Yea, probably I even made him smirk once. He snuck into the outsider's base to check our security, and one of our team members shot him with a taser, but his suit kept it from hurting him, and then I brought him a bottle of water, but before I gave it to him I drew the Bat symbol onto the bottle for him.

Barry Allen has posed:
"You made Batman smirk?" Barry squints at Bart, then breaks into a grin himself, "Well that's definitely something worth putting on your resume. I made him sigh a couple times.. I figured that was just how he laughed." As he's speaking, his phone starts chirping. An alarm of some kind that he ignores until he's finished, then reaches back to peek at the screen. "I need to get back inside and finish up on my case load. Told Iris I'd be home in a few hours.." Which he intends to not be a lie. "But it's been good seeing you, yeah? I'm back, so it shouldn't be long before we're all catching up. You, me, Irie, and Wally."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and says "It would be cool maybe we can all meet for Dinner on a Sunday with Joan and Jay I am sure, they would be glad to see you back as well, I know they might not be blood, but they are family." He says "Be right back." and making sure no one is around he zooms off for a moment, and while for Barry it takes a bit for those around him it is just seconds. He has flowers in hand, Iris' favorite and says "Give these to Grandma Iris for me."

Barry Allen has posed:
"We can all meet up at mine and Iris' house? Big family get together or something." Barry pushes up from the stairs, he doesn't even bother stopping talking in the blink of an eye between Bart leaving and returning. "I will." he takes the flowers and twirls them, "Iris'.. hah, that's cute." He gently points them at Bart, "If you see everybody before I do, let them know I'm inviting them all for dinner, yeah? We should start a group text or something." That's what kids do now right? He's so out of touch. "Anyways, I'll see ya Bart." Saluting with the flowers, he starts up the steps towards the PD.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods and watches Barry head up the stairs smiling a bit as he and the one he was named after have a bit of family time like normal people or as close to it as some of the fastest people on earth can get to it.
