Reconnection: Kai's homecoming
Date of Scene: 04 February 2023
Location: Turtle Lair
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Kainashi, Donatello

Kainashi has posed:
The day had been quiet. The occasional 'beep' of a distant microwave or machine monitoring stuff she didn't understand like 'hyperbolic time chamber' or something. She was tired. It was explained, it didn't stick because tired dog was tired. Dog tired.

And she had slept through most of the day, wrapped up in blankets with a doctored finger monitor to keep her pulse, O2 and temperature checked. She was at her normal 102 degrees, and things appeared to have stabilized

Donatello has posed:
Donnie had woken in the same room, a curtain separating the two. He pushed up from the bed and blinked the lights out of his eyes. He used his bo staff to maneuver, his fifth limb and he moved almost as well as he had on both legs. He turned even better. Not too fast, though. His head aches still, despite the pretty strong medicine. Maybe that was making him a little of the wooze, too.

None of which matters as he comes to check on Kainashi, going over the machines. Medicine wasn't his science, but he was familiar with a broad range of subjects as a general course of study. A friendly mutant, a Morlock, with a face like a squid had come to attend quickly, a genuine medical doctor. He might even send a healing mutant by sometime if recovery was slower than expected. For now, though, Donnie checks the machines himself. Stable, at least, if not perfect yet. Temperature's still higher than he hoped.

Kainashi has posed:
Her temperature was right where it needed to be; Kai always ran hot. Dogs had higher temperature norms than humans or turtles, it's what made her so warm and made it important that she drink plenty of water and operate in the cooler nights during the summer.

Kainashi stirs as Donnie comes around the curtain. Her ears flick forward, then backwards, and then she sits up suddenly, tail curling as she gives a gasp of breath quickly in, brown eyes going wide before she reaches up, grabs her own muzzle and closes it, as if the sound would attract someone else.

She looks at Donnie a moment, and she gives a squeak of a sound, strained, and her ears prick up.

She watches him for a heartbeat or two.

And then her tailwags, frantically, under the blanket.

Donatello has posed:
Donatello moves quickly to lean down. He tentatively reaches out and puts a hand to her forehead. Scars or no scars, he's never been afraid of those. He knows as well as anyone what an illusion conventional aesthetics are. Only a fool wouldn't see Kai's spirit first. She showed it so brightly.

"Hey, hey, there you are. It's okay. You're safe. You're with us. We've got you, everybody's okay," he says. He was more or less filled in, only losing consciousness for half as long as Kainashi. He shouldn't have slept at all but he'd given in despite himself. He worried about the consequences of that. Concussions could cause brain damage.

Save that for later, D.

"Just be careful moving, okay? We don't have the equipment to test a lot of stuff. The girl with the X-ray eyes was busy today," he says with a weak smile.

Kainashi has posed:
Donatello. Donatello? The nose twitches, feeling Donnie put his hand to her forehead, and her ears go limp. Her eyes get watery, and the canine ninja-in-training gives a breath out. Her hands, scarred up with broken claws as she gives another huff out, and she closes her eyes, and leans into Donatello's hand. HEr tail is still wagging behind her, under the blankets, and she gives a silent nod.

He was real. She was safe.
