There's Something (Different) About Dawn
Date of Scene: 18 February 2023
Location: Roof - Titan's Tower
Synopsis: No description
Cast of Characters: Hank Hall, Dawn Granger

Hank Hall has posed:
"Dawn?!?" Hank is still dumbfounded as he stares at the cloned Kryptonian standing on the roof of Titans tower claiming to be Dawn Granger. There is nothing at all similar about her. Dawn is all grace, a slender beauty with expressive eyes that he adores. This woman is all hard lines and curved and sharp eyes and curves and statuesque height and curves and dark hair and curves. And yet somehow, he can tell it's Dawn. The cadence of her words is not the sound of her voice. The way she knows _just_ what to say to get through to him. Somehow, he is calmed from his rage. But there is no magical energy pulling the Hawk from him the way the Dove does.

This is the sweet release of tension of anger of a man worried about his girlfriend who has suddenly found her. Even if she is in a differently, uh, endowed body.

Hank quickly ushers the others of the roof (it's not hard - he doubts Jinx will be speaking to him anytime soon), and then beckons Divine Dawn over to the table as he takes one of the remaining chairs. He'll probably have to buy two new ones. Oops.

"Ok. What is going on?"

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn moves to take a seat, though her unfamiliar face twists in an unhappy expression as she settles into her chair with much less grace than she's used to. She takes in a deep breath. "I wish there was much to explain. I was sleeping, dream suddenly got weird when the Hulk showed up, he was chasing someone, and a bunch of us got caught up in his wake. I wish I had a better memory of who was there with me, it might be easier to track down some of the others, but it was *chaos*, even for a dream. And you know me and chaos." She smiles wryly.

"Anyway, we somehow ended up in a comic book section of the dream, I think, which I believe was someone else's dream. I think the whole lot of it was an accident, some kind of misunderstanding, and the woman who tried to use magic to send us back misfired, I think. We woke up, but I was *this* and not me." Divine Dawn frowns at the turn of events, looking down at her hands for a moment, turning them over as she just looks at how unfamiliar this body is.

Hank Hall has posed:
"Yeeeeeah. That sounds...like a lot." Hank knows a little something about this - it's part of why he was so willing to accept Divine Dawn's story despite how crazy it sounded. "Any idea who the woman was that cast the spell on you? Was she trying to hurt you all, or...?"

Magic is not one of Hank's strong points. "We could go see if Raven knows something." He does not yet realize that his fist made a dent in one of the top magical talents in the world a few minutes ago. Pity, since Jinx's bad luck cloud is following him even now, waiting for a chance to pounce.

Dawn Granger has posed:
"It *is* a lot," Dawn agrees, folding her hands on the table. "No, she wasn't trying to hurt us, she was running from the Hulk. I think she accidently pissed him off, he chased her, we got caught up and then when she tried to send us back to our own dreams... something went wrong, I think. She wore purple, white hair, I *think* I've seen her hanging around the Avengers before, but it's hard to keep track of everyone hanging out with everyone these days."

She glances back across the table at Hank. "You're doing pretty well, I'm glad you were able to calm down given everything going on."

Hank Hall has posed:
"Huh. I don't know that I know any of the Avengers. We'll have to pay them a visit." Does Hank know Dawn's body contains the mind of an Avenger right now?

He reaches out to try to take Divine Dawn's hand. "It's you." He smiles at Dawn. "It wasn't your voice, but it was your words. I heard them and knew you were ok, and that being angry wouldn't help you. So I..."

He looks at her. At Divine. But the smile is one Dawn knows only she gets from him. "Dove isn't here. I think she left the city." He would squeeze her hand if he managed to take it. "But you still calmed me."

Dawn Granger has posed:
Doing pretty much anything in someone else's body is a little strange, and blushing feels just as different. Dawn takes his hand, though she's gentle with it. She's definitely aware there's strength in this body, more than she had as Dove. "So... you could tell it was me. That's one of the weirdly sweetest things anyone's ever said."

It's a strange concept now, Dove being *elsewhere*, but it gives her the freedom to see how he looks at her when she's not mystically tied to him. Even if she's temporarily in custody of a Kryptonian's body. "I'm glad you're okay. Sorry if I scared you at all."

Hank Hall has posed:
That earns a laugh from Hank. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if I couldn't tell you from some.." He waves his hand to indicate her new form, his gaze drifting down. This might not be the best time to lose his train of thought while looking down at the Divine body, but it is AWFULLY distracting.

But certainly, aside from that distraction, ever since realizing who was in control of that body, Hank looked at her the way he always looked at Dawn. Those feelings are clearly there. "It's not your fault. I just couldn't imagine what it'd be like to lose you." He pauses to make a critical correction. "Dawn. Not Dove."

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn remembers how it felt when Hawk and Dove were far apart. In Divine's body, she doesn't have that tug. Instead, it's just the person most important to her in the world sitting across the table from her. "Thankfully, you don't have to think too hard about that. I'm still here and I'm okay, all things considered. I do want to figure out who I'm in, though. As much as I would fully like to enjoy the experience of walking a mile in someone else's shoes, that's not quite the situation I'm in."

She squeezes his hand gently. "I mostly need to figure it out because if they're right and she's somehow related to Power Girl, that would mean she's Kryptonian and I'm not really equipped to know how to handle those sort of powers. She's much faster than I am as Dove. Stronger. I don't know exactly what else she could do, but that's why I'm worried. I don't want to hurt someone because of this."

Hank Hall has posed:
Nodding along slowly, Hank considers. "I'm glad I don't have to worry about it," he agrees. "It's weird, though. I sense where Dove is, as I usually would, but...." He looks up at Divine Dawn. "I know this sounds weird to say, but I look at this face, that isn't yours, but if I move past that distraction..." he closes his eyes and squeezes her hand. "I love you, Dawn. Not Dove."

He nods along with her. "Yeah. That's a solid point. I mean, you look _just_ like her. She just know. Maybe we can reach someone who can talk to her. Or knows." He reaches into his pocket to take out his phone, and as he pulls it out a pigeon flies past his hand, scratching it. He yelps and pulls his hand back, losing his grip on the phone which flies up and over his shoulder, bouncing once on the edge of the roof before sliding along its length and tumbling down to the street below.

"Shit. That was fucking weird."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"... hope you had insurance on that thing," Dawn comments, before looking back at his hand. "Seems the pigeon wanted some love too." She cracks a smile, however, mostly because she likes hearing him say it. "Love you too, Hank. Just as much as ever." She glances out in the distance, then back to him. "Shouldn't be too hard to find someone, yeah? I bet there are annoying websites talking about hero sightings. We could see if something pops up on there."

Hank Hall has posed:
Sighing, Hank shakes his head. "Of course not. I've always gotten it but it was a waste of money. Never broken a phone in my life. What bad luck!"

But there are better things to focus on. Like Dawn. He nods in agreement. "I'd look it up, but..." he gives her hand a squeeze. "Odds are she's in someone else's body, right? So why don't you, uh..." he glances down at her chest again. It's hard to avoid. "Attract some attention and get her to come to you?"

Dawn Granger has posed:
"Bad luck indeed," Dawn replies, running her fingers over his. His hand feels the same, but it's strange not feeling hers the same. She follows his eyes downward, giving him a bit of a sideye. "What am I supposed to go do to get her attention? All I really know is how to get your attention right now."

There's a small sound of amusement from her. "I really hope you don't get used to this body, because it's going right back where it came from as soon as I can find her."

Hank Hall has posed:
Frowning a bit, Hank shrugs it off. "Eh, never believed in bad luck, really." He smiles as he feels her fingers over his. He also does not catch the side eye, and only at the tail end does he catch what she is saying. "Sorry, sorry." He looks up to her eyes. Those things _have_ to be part of this woman's super powers!

"I have no intention of getting used to it. I want you back in your body as soon as we can get it." Those super powers kick in again. "Although, as far as temporary bodies go..." This time he manages a grin before he looks up at her, showing it to be a joke. Maybe.

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn cracks a smile at that, playfully swatting at his hand. Thankfully, she's getting good at not putting too much strength into it. "Honestly, it's not a terrible body to be stuck in. My concerns are just a couple of things: I don't know all her powers and she's clearly very capable, and secondly I don't know who she hangs out with so I don't want to accidently mess up her life if someone shows up who knows her."

Hank Hall has posed:
Hank Hall says, "Well, the first is simple. Don't do anything." Hank grins for a moment, and then places his hand back on hers. "I know it'll be hard, but you're going to need to, you know, lay off the old Hank for a bit." He tries to find the humor in the situation. "But you're right. We don't know if she is an evil copy, or something else." He looks around for a moment. "I have no idea how to get word to any of the Kryptonians. Connor...maybe he can, but I don't know if he has a line on Power Girl or not."

He looks at her for a moment, and thinks. "So, you can fly, you have strength. You have, uh..." He glances down for a moment, and then back up at her face. "Do you have super breath? That's a fun one.""

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn laughs, then squeezes his fingers gently. "Hopefully, this won't last too long. I imagine the others are probably wanting to get back as soon as possible too. I just need to find out how to get in contact with some of them. Dreams are fuzzy, so I'm trying to remember who was there. The Hulk I remember for sure, plus there was the woman who used the magic. A woman who seemed to know the Hulk well was there, probably one of his close allies?"

She looks thoughtful as she tries to recall if she recognized any of the others. "I do know she's got those laser eyes. She was not exactly pleased by part of the dream and she was using those on people. We were worried she might catch something on fire. I probably have the breath thing, but I'm afraid to try things for fear of lack of control. Things I'm used to as Dove make sense. Flying I can do, though she's much faster than me, hence the problems. Strength is the same, just a matter of toning things down. Maybe keep an ear out for news of out-of-control heroes or mutants? I might not be the only one not entirely in control."

Hank Hall has posed:
A shake of his head. "I stay away from those types. I barely like the Titans." He laughs quietly, looking around for a moment, before settling his gaze back on Dawn. Divine. Her face.

"Yeah. That's probably smart." He considers for a moment. "We should alert the Titans. Let them know to be on the look-out. And also, let them know that you're..." He waves his hand again. "You're Dawn, but not...Dawn like."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"It's a little strange," Dawn agrees. "From what little I saw of her, she did not seem particularly much like me in personality. I suppose someone's personality doesn't necessarily influence how their body is, but I'm certainly a dancer and she is..." She's not entirely sure how to phrase it. "... tough. Hopefully between you and Kian, they'll believe I'm me and not someone else. It would be pretty useful, at least, to be able to sleep in my own room."

That gives her a bit of pause. "It's going to be a little weird not sleeping next to you. I feel like the sooner we can get me back as me, the better. I already miss my life and it's been almost no time at all."

Hank Hall has posed:
"I pity _anyone_ who challenges me when I tell them that you're Dawn." That British chippie already saw what happens when someone does that. He realizes he should probably apologize at some point, but that is really not the priority right now.

He thinks for a moment on what she says. "I didn't even think about that," he says quietly. "But yeah, we should probably..." Is that a look of disappointment on his face as he looks down once again at.. "No. We need to get you back. ASAP."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"Yes, I did see how you handled that in the first place. I don't really like the idea of you punching, but... making sure people understand it's *me* is sort of a vital thing. It'd make me a bit nervous if people didn't believe me. I was most worried about you, though," Dawn's voice softens, which even comes across easily in Divine's voice. It's easy to see it's her like this.

"I worried about you right away. I woke up and I wasn't where I thought I'd be and for a moment I was utterly panicked. I needed to find you and I needed you to know it was me." She pauses for a moment with a small laugh. "I'm sorry that she's very attractive and absolutely differently built, you are *clearly* distracted."

Hank Hall has posed:
"I mean, she was being _rude_, Dawn," replies Hank, with a bit of an apologetic grin. "I mean, I knew it was you, but..." He sighs. It does make him feel better to hear her voice. Even if it doesn't sound like her. He can tell it is her.

For a brief moment, Hank thinks. "Uh. You took off so quickly, do you think you could find your way back to where you woke up?" He chuckles. "You came to find me before even trying to figure out who you were?" He laughs. "I'd have done the same, though, as I think about it." He frowns at her last comment, and shakes his head. "No, she's not nearly as attractive as you, Dawn. She's just, uh..." He sighs. "It's not my fault."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"I... might be able to find my way back, but I was just worried. I wanted to find you as soon as I could. I didn't think you had a solution, but I knew we could figure it out together," Dawn smiles, then squeezes his hand again. "I don't hold it against you. It's a little different when it's someone you love in someone different." She laughs a bit. "Guess you're just attracted to me in any body."

She pauses, taking in the sentence she says, honestly thinking about it.

Hank Hall has posed:
Hank returns the squeeze of her hand. "We will. I may not be the smartest guy, but I might be the world's most stubborn." He grins at her, and takes a deep breath. "I mean, if you _wanted_ to hold it against me..." He says, nodding his head towards the assets with a grin, replicating one of the world's oldest - and worst - pick-up lines.

Finally, he nods. "I am. It's you, Dawn. Not anyone else. You're the only one for me."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"You don't have to be the smartest, Hank. You are stubborn. You're devoted. You're a wonderful partner in every aspect of life. We suit each other well... and that's not because of Hawk and Dove," Dawn seems happy, especially because it's actually proved something they'd had no way to really prove before. She squeezes his hand again.

"I'm sure that this lovely woman would not appreciate much more than a hug. My hope is that everyone involved with this is... uh, being kind to their bodies?"

Hank Hall has posed:
There is something to be said for all of this. Hank nods slowly. "Well. It's like I always said. It wasn't about Dove. It never was." He gives that hand a squeeze. The hand that isn't Dove's. But is Dawn's. Sort of. "It's about us."

Dawn's comment causes Hank to make a bit of a face. "Oh. Wow. I had not even thought of..." He pauses. "That's. Ew."

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn nods a little. "Yeah, I... don't know them all, but someone out there's got my body still, so I'd rather get it sooner rather than later." She glances over at him. "Besides, I hate the idea of being far from you for long. But I'm happy it's *us*. I mean, I knew it was but it's different being able to prove it. It's something tangible."

She smiles across at him. "I know I don't need to apologize, but I'm sorry about it all the same. I imagine your day has been as rough as mine."

Hank Hall has posed:
"Yeaaaaahhhh..." Hank glances off into the distance, before looking back at Dawn with a smile. "It is somewhat reassuring to know. For sure. I mean, I always felt it, but..."

At that, he laughs. "What do you have to apologize for? Knocking my ass out in the snow by your pitiful attempt at landing?"

Dawn Granger has posed:
"Worrying you. You knew something was wrong. The way you already seemed pissed off by the time I used you as a human landing pad... you were either worried or someone stole something with your name on it in the fridge," Dawn grins at him across the table. "I do really like knowing that no one can contest it. That no one can blame it on external forces. It's not something we even have to give a second thought to. I don't know, it kind of makes me feel closer."

She laughs. "I don't know, maybe someday we will end up not as Hawk and Dove and just retire somewhere cozy."

Hank Hall has posed:
"That fucking Victor, always taking my cheese." Hank shakes his head. "Yeah. You're right. It's...really, we have to look at this as a gift." He looks down for a moment. "Uh, not _that_ kind of gift." He looks up to meet Dawn's gaze, even if it is Divine's, and he smiles at her.

"Can we do that? Pass the mantles on, and just be us?"

He looks down again, but just at the table this time. He cannot seem to quite look at her as he speaks. "You know, uh..." He sighs. "I've been afraid to let go of Hawk, this whole time?" He looks up at her. "As much as almost totally sure, that tin chance that it _was_ Hawk and not Hank...I didn't want to risk losing you." A pause. "Even if it was just because of the mojo."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"I didn't know if you'd ever want to stop being Hawk. I know that it's a..." Dawn doesn't want to say it at first, and her voice softens as she continues. "I know it's a connection to Don." She takes his hand between both of hers, enveloping it. "I'm not going anywhere, Hank. You and I are partners, regardless of Hawk and Dove, and we'll be that way for as long as we wish. I do think this is a bit of a gift, and I'm glad it allows both of us to know how strong this is between *us*."

She lets out a slow breath. "Maybe one day we can pass them on. We don't have to be afraid of that future. It'll still be one where we'll be together."

Hank Hall has posed:
He nods. He knows it. "It is. But I'll tell you something - Don would rather have me be happy, and if there was a point where we could just be Hank and Dawn, and ..." He trails off for a second. There was a thought. "He'd be all for it. Trust me. We're still connected, even without Hawk and Dove."

He nods at that, and he gives her hand a squeeze. "I'd like to see that happen for us."

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn smiles, and even if it's Divine smiling, it's so very genuinely /Dawn/. "I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to know him, but I'm grateful that he brought us together in a way. I would like to think he'd be happy with that." She squeezes his hand again. This, at least, feels like something comfortable that she can do without feeling like she's being rude to Divine.

"One day, I'd really like that. You and me."

Hank Hall has posed:
"Yeah. He is." Hank looks up for a moment, skyward, and then back to Dawn. As Divine. "I really wish I could kiss you right now." But he is trying not to be rude.

He takes a deep breath, and nods. "Someday." There is something rattling around in there.

Dawn Granger has posed:
Dawn laughs, looking back over at him. "I wish I could kiss you too. I would, but given that this woman's Kryptonian, I would hate to get on her bad side. I'd gamble that a hug wouldn't be too bad, though. So I can at least offer that as a nice alternative?"

She studies him, quiet for a moment before she asks, "You okay?"

Hank Hall has posed:
Laughing, Hank shakes his head. "Uh, a Kryptonian hug from someone who doesn't know how strong she is? Thanks, but I'll pass this time." He reaches up to rub at the side of his head. "We definitely need to get you switched back."

He smiles back at her study. "Yeah. I am. Really, and truly. Ok."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"I'm getting pretty good with the strength thing, that's not so bad. It's the flying I'm still getting used to. You'd be amazed at how quickly she can move. Everything is enhanced. All the senses. I'm not good at focusing it, but there are so many things she can feel." Dawn offers him a smile. "We'll get me back in no time. We already have leads and I suppose with these senses I might be able to track down some of the people from the dream. Not sure I can just walk in the door to see the Avengers, but... I've got a few things to try."

Hank Hall has posed:
"Well. Keep working on it. Just in case it is, you know..." Hank sighs. "Permanent." Clearly, he wants his Dawn back. No matter how mystifying the Divine chest is. "And yeah. Maybe if we can get some IDs on them, I can apply some resources too." He glances over the side of the tower. "Assuming I can get a new phone."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"I'd let you borrow mine but... kind of don't have my stuff right now," Dawn grins, doing her best to make light of it. "I'm sure there's some way to switch back. I just don't know how long that will take, and I imagine everyone who was effected is going to need to group up somehow. Finding each other might be the tricky part." She pauses. "Maybe I'll make some vague forum post and see if I can get any of them to respond. The internet's pretty useful these days."

Hank Hall has posed:
Another nod. Hank has some thoughts on that. "Yeah. We'll have to get you all together, get the blender, and undo it, right?" He smiles at her. "That's my Dawn. Always trying to find the solution." He sighs, and rests his hands on the table. "We should probably check the computer downstairs and see if it knows anything about Power Girl's duplicate."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"Yeah, you're right. The database will help, I'm sure it will at least give us some directions to go. I'm not looking forward to all the work this will be," Dawn says, then pauses. "You know... you can sleep in the same room. We could take turns who gets the couch, that way you could still be around?" She pauses again. "Feel free to tell me that's a silly idea, it's just something that came to me."

Hank Hall has posed:
Hank's thoughts already seem to be going towards solving the problem. When Dawn proposes a sleeping arrangement, he turns to her and smiles. "No, not silly. I'd be fine with that." He raises one finger. "On one condition - you need to promise me that you won't wake up in the middle of the night, forget, and crush me to death with those Kryptonian thighs."

Dawn Granger has posed:
"I know as much as you'd enjoy that being the way to go," Dawn says with a laugh. "There's no way I could not notice I'm in this body rather than mine. I'm sure sleeping is going to be an entirely different experience." This time, it's her that looks down.
