Date of Scene: 28 April 2020
Location: Shake Shack, NYC
Synopsis: Jinny and Marie chat and get to know one another.
Cast of Characters: Jinny Hex, Marie-Ange Colbert

Jinny Hex has posed:
It's late into the evening, and Shake Shack is fairly empty at the moment. The employees meander about behind the counter, keeping themselves busy with idle gossip. An old truck is parked out front with a tarp pulled over the back, and Texas plates. A few of the tables are taken up with customers. It's the usual fast casual food chain.

Jinny is seated at one of those tables. She's idly waiting for her order to be ready as she sips a soda. The redheaded teen has her hat off, and it's resting on the table beside her drink. She glances about now and again, looking bored but curious. Every once in awhile she glances out the window towards the truck, as if making sure it is okay.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
There aren't a lot of people out and about, but there are some. One such person is delivered by an Uber driver, who speeds off into the night after dropping the girl off. Tall and thin, maybe a /bit/ unhealthily so, the redhead makes a brisk walk into the Shake Shack, almost like one would if they thought they were being followed but weren't /sure/ they weren't just being paranoid.

Marie's outright being chased, but not by a person. No, her pursuer is time itself.

Without hesitation, she walks straight up to the counter to place her order, "Bonsoir, Monsieur." she starts, voice hurried and thick with that French accent. "I wish four of your largest hot dogs, a strawber--"

"Miss, if you'll have a seat at one of the tables, our waitress will be around to collect your order." the fellow at the counter replies.

"But...!" she starts, then shakes her head. "Very well..." she trails off, moving to try and find an open seat. Well. More accurately the RIGHT open seat. It's easier in a full room because the choice is made for her, picking which seat to take it... a bit more difficult to use the cards for, and she's not with anyone she knows!

Jinny Hex has posed:
That accent draws Jinny's attention. She glances over at her and cocks her head a bit as she watches her. She brushes her hair behind her ear before she catches her chin in her palm, and rests her elbow on the table. She watches the other girl for a little bit. They have similarish hair colors, and they're the same height. Jinny's gaze has just turned from watching to admiring when Marie-Ange looks in her direction.

She grins a bit, totally caught. She brushes her fingers back through her hair and then raises a hand. "Free chair over here if ya want it." Her accent is thick but very, very different from the other girls.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Caught indeed. That's a look that Marie's seen before. Not usually directed at herself -- the looks she's used to are far from admiration. But she can identify it, at least, and it threatens to make her face turn the same color as her hair. She leans her head forward, some of said hair moving to cast a curtain over the majority of her face. "Are you certain? I would not with to impose, Mademoiselle..."

...but for her own sake, the cards are consulted. Tarot cards are pretty easy to pick out if one gets a good look. This particular one? The Queen of Cups, a card that suggests following your heart, not your mind. Marie's mind tells her sitting alone would be safest. Her heart? It doesn't want to be alone right now. So she makes her way over towards the offered seat, settling down into it and offering a small smile. "Merci beaucoup, mademoiselle... I appreciate the company, tu vois?" A moment of pause before she adds, "Je m'appelle -- my name is Marie, and you are..?" she asks, extending a hand towards the other redhead.

Jinny Hex has posed:
She smiles wider when the other girl slides into the chair across from her, and she sits forward a bit. Her outfit might be curious to Marie now that she is close. Some of the designs (Plus the big X on her belt) looks like an X-Men costume, though with some added bits (The flared legs) and colors that have never been used. Then you toss her vest over that, and it's...well...it's a look. She looks cute in it, though.

She reaches out to take the hand, and her own is rough, like that of a laborer. "Jinny. Sorry, I don't speak French. Sounds really pretty, though. I just speak bad English and a decent amount of Spanish," she admits. "So, what was with the Tarot card?," she asks, curious.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie does take a moment to look over the outfit -- people in the States definitely have some... interesting attires. This one in particular? It looks familiar, /very/ familiar, but she thinks that she'd recognize the other girl's accent given how it's very certainly not the Upper East Coast accent that she was starting to get a memory for, if she was one of the X-Men. Maybe the girl's a fan, like Remy is of the Star Trek show? There's a brief temptation to ask... but for the sake of the school's privacy, she decides it might not be the best idea to pursue. This particular line of investigation ends here. At least for now.

Marie's hand? Soft and dainty; the girl /has/ seen work in her life, but it hasn't been much, and she's always been more than a little bit on the scrawny side, despie her height! "Mademoiselle Jinny, enchante." she replies, bobbing her head once and then quickly adding, "...it is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Jinny." As for the card? There's another smile. She'll always indulge curiousity. "It serves me well to seek guidance before making important decisions, nothing more, nothing less." A nod to that. Granted, 'important' could just as easily be removed entirely from the sentence and the words would still ring just as true.

Jinny Hex has posed:
She nods a bit to that and leans back. She loops an arm over the back of her chair. It has the double ability of both showing how laid-back and comfortable she is, while also showing herself off a little to the other girl. Putting herself on display, so to speak. "Pleasure to meet you too, Marie." She pauses when the waiter makes their way up. Her own food is already ordered, so she sits quietly while Marie-Ange orders her own meal.

Once the waiter is gone, she turns back towards Marie. "Aaaaah. Gotcha. Damn, I wish I had something like that to guide -me-. Half the time I feel like a cat in a rocking chair factory." She picks up her sofa for a long sip.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie, largely, is an innocent. She's not a lecher by any means. However, she's also not blind, and spends a moment admiring what Jinny's showing off before giving her head a little shake to bring herself back to reality. Her order is repeated -- and expanded upon. For someone who looks as Marie does, it's a surprising amount of food.

...however, a) she was preparing herself, knowing that the number of minutes left in the day were running out... and b) she was one of those girls who could eat whatever she wanted and not put on an unwanted pound. The one kindness done to her by fate. "...it's not a difficult skill to learn, and I have found that shops will sell the cards quite readily here in America." A slight pause, and a small smile follows. "...I would be willing to teach you, if you would be interested in learning?" she asks.... though once that offer's made, stares with a bit of bewilderment. "What would a cat be doing in such a factory?" ...folksy phrases don't always sink home with Marie, at least not at first!
