Date of Scene: 15 March 2023
Location: Library and Study Hall
Synopsis: M and Negasonic snark in the library.
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, Negasonic

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It's sometime late in the evening. Monet St. Croix is over in the library, where she's expecting it to be rather peaceful. She has a book out and over on her lap. Thick. The title is in Arabic, butif one were to look on the cover image it would be recognizable anywhere - A Hundred and One Arabian Nights.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie stops in the doorway to the library and study hall and turns and points one fingerless gloved finger down the hallway. "Lunchbox. Go the Fuck to Bed or I swear to fuck I will blow your pun smithing ass to hell and back okay!" the glare is severe.

Someone is brave or stupid harassing Ellie with puns. Lower Classman probably. Not wise.

There is a squint just long enough to make sure whoever was offending her has scampered away and then she turns to finishing entering the library with a suffering sigh.

Well. She doesn't do quiet on the best of days. At least there wasn't an explosion.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would look over at Ellie, "I thought the proper way it went was 'Go the Fuck to Sleep'. Or am I mis-quoting the particular aphorism that you were going for? And the best way to retaliate over puns is to come up wtih even worse ones that you bludgeon the offender to death with. Merely threats will be quite insufficient. They merely serve as encouragement for the worst provocateurs." She would lance over at Ellie, moving to put the book to the side.
"You do seem to be rather perturbed, regardless."

Negasonic has posed:
"Mmm that may be true." she muses "Other than the fact that said provocateurs know damn well I am not afraid of carefully calibrated violence and they are not empty threats." she sighs though. With a shake of her head she walks over to the engineering book section. "Puns are also stupid humor."

"Is that a kind way of saying I am violently unhinged?" she inquires with amusement as she scans the bookshelves slowly. Looking for a specific tome of college level lore. "Maybe I could get Ily to open a stepping disc and I could really blow someone to hell..."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would lean back over in her seat. "But there are still others thatw ould take that as a challenge that you could not detonate your way thorugh. I've heard that Mister Drake is quite the expert in them. And I do not think there is anything you could inflict upon him that he would not take as encouragement. You need ways to fight fire with fire in ways theyw ill not enjoy."
Monet would fold her fingers together. "I would hardly say that. You are a very hinged sort of violent. You however do not often have the focus for followup."

Negasonic has posed:
"Bobby isn't bad." Ellie plucks a book out, then looks over at Monet and does this perfect scoffing chuff of a noise. Offense. "I can absolutely follow up when it is worth my time. It just isn't usually worth letting it live rent free in my head long enough to want to follow up on."

The book is carried over and propped open on one of the study tables. "I don't always threaten violence. I am known for a mean insult and scathing rebukes." she falls quiet as she flips to the table of content and skims.

Also sullen silences. Like right now.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would lean back, "Well, if those are your inetnts, then consider them casual failures. Because I was not informed or aware of those particulars." this is Monet attempting to make a joke a bit beyond her ever so vague 'Mean Girl' stereotype that she was the living embodiment of.
Well, less stereotype and more living, breathing, and all the raw ego personified with it.

Negasonic has posed:
Ellie pauses on flipping pages to look up from the book and stare at Monet. One eyebrow is arched. Then she looks back down and resumes flipping through the engineering text.

"Well if you paid attention to other people instead of just yourself, maybe you would be aware."

Yes that was meant to be bladed and scathing. No she didn't actually mean it. She kind of likes Monet, not that she would probably admit it anywhere there might be witnesses. There is a crook of a smile that can be caught as she glances down.

Monet's joke was like a thrown gauntlet after all.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
The two are well aware of the other's surliness and dismissive tendencies to the world and they have some level of respect. Not that Monet would admit it either to anyone at all. "That would require other people to be worth paying attention to. I have yet to see anythig to convince me otherwise." She would go to play over to her role after all.
"Nor that it is worth my time."

Negasonic has posed:
Honestly. Ellie feels a bit seen with the way Monet responds. She smirks as she turns a page in the book but doesn't look up. "Can't say I disagree about the general state of the world and humanity. So I will have to grudgingly agree with you M."

She fishes her phone out and flips it to the docuscan app and satrts to scan the books contents. Probably for some class assignment and the book isn't available in the scanned archives yet.

    "So what's new M."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would go to glance over then to take in Ellie's book, for a moment shrugging over at her. "What else is there? ALiens invading, godlings from another dimension, humans seeming to think that sending out robots to cull citizens and.. Oh, wait, you asked for what was new." She would deadpan.
Because at what point in life had all of those things become the cmpolete norm and merely to be shrugged off in a cynical, yet expected way?
