Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Austin Reese, Tim Drake

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
The Place in question is called Cookie Doe's It's a woodland themed ice cream shop, with (very fake) 'taxidermy' wearing mardi gras beads and funny hats, and a fake fox mount that occasionally cracks ice cream related puns when a button in the men's room is pushed. It's kitchy, which means that most people in the Gotham Crime Fighting community might not be caught here, among the jewel-and-earth-tone booths, serving up generously portioned scoops of over forty flavors of ice cream ranging from the chocolate chip cookie 'doe' with home-made eggless cookie dough chunks and semisweet chocolate chips to Chocolate Moose, which was a very rich, essentially frozen custard rather than an ice cream, Squirrel Nut which was honey-walnut with peanutbutter swirls and 'Raccoon Food', which was a vanilla with 'kitchen sink' toppings mixed in, like bits of waffle cone that broke, swirls of chocolate and butterscotch, pretzel balls filled with peanutbutter, gummy bears, grahm cracker chunks -- you get the picture.

Phoebe had offered to drive, which meant a very nervous driver in a beautiful orange Porche 911 Turbo S with custom interior and a sticky-noted guide to 'what gear you want to be in' in Phoebe's own handwriting, and if no one else offered she totally did very nervously and carefully drive a car that cost more than what most people in Gotham make in a year, but she was convinced to get because it wasn't too ostentatious a vehicle.

And Phoeb, wearing a skullcap to cover her recently cut hair, jeans and a vintage looking STAR WARS Tee under a too-large washed out hoodie slowly craawls the car into a parking space.

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin had been at class, and had gotten the address from Phoebe. He took his F-150 from campus, across the bridge and down towards Kingston. Phoebe would have only been sitting in the parking spot for a minute or two before the dark blue truck pulls into the parking lot and parks.

Austin hops out, and swings around behind the tailgate, wearing a pair of jeans and hiking boots, and a Green Lantern t-shirt. Don't tell Bruce.

Tim Drake has posed:
"Great job, Phoebe," is what Tim's saying as he climbs out of the passenger seat of the Porche, and it's only then that his hands relax from the fists they'd been subtly curled into the entire drive. Because Tim is control issues in human form, and yet he dutifully kept his mouth shut and let Phoebe drive.

There wasn't even any ribbing! But maybe he should have, as part of official big brother duties. Oh well.

Austin gets a wave and a smile from Tim, who then shoves one hand into the pocket of his hoodie, the other busy reaching out as he approaches the ice cream parlor so that he can hold the door open for everyone.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Thanks!" Phoeb states, though it's absolutely plain to see that she was happy that she was not currently behind the wheel. She runs her hands over her head, exhaling, and hops up and down a few times in order to loosen her own nerves.

Somehow there is immense pressure to be a good driver. Weird how that works.

She jogs ahead of Austin into the shop with "HiAustinHowWasClass?" turning to walk backwards with a smile on her face a ss he waves

"So this place has gotten some rave reviews." she explains, "And it's *finally* spring. Feels like it's been winter for like a million years. Gotta celebrate, right?" she asks, pausing a moment to bump shoulders with Tim once he's free from the door.

Austin Reese has posed:
"Not bad, not bad at all." Austin replies, as he follows after Phoebe and Tim, "I've read some chatter online about it, a lot of folks were saying great things." He chuckles a little bit as he looks at Tim for a second,

"So how many times did you have to grab the oh shit handle? Does one of those things even HAVE an oh shit handle?"

Tim Drake has posed:
Tim's the last in, and he pauses for the companionable shoulder-bump before making his way towards a booth. Always stake your claim on a table -- preferably one with a good sightline on the exits -- before getting in line for ice cream. "Nah, that implies Phoebe was going too fast. It's not like I was driving with Jason. Or Damian." Pause. "Or Steph. Or Dick. Do you think we have a road rage problem in the family?"

He looks concerned for all of a few seconds before his expression cracks, and he waves towards the counter. "You two go ahead, I need to consult the menu." As if Tim didn't know what he was going to get walking in, pfft. Either way, though, Tim is immediately distracted by his phone, like any true Gen Z-er.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"What, who do you think has been giving me driving lessons? I've been learning from ALFRED, thank you very much, and he is quite firm on the 'no special maneuvers until you've mastered the basics'." Phoebe gives a small shrug of her shoulders, tucking her hands into the pockets of the hoodie.

"Jason's scary to ride shotgun with, yeah, but honestly? Only time I grab the chicken bar is during chases." she pauses, and gives a distant stare "... OK and that guy who I kicked in the head was like, the one object of my road rage." she admits, "but he threatened Alfred. Totally deserved it." she adds, and she heads up to the counter.

"Steph is definitely the scariest driver though in the family."

Austin Reese has posed:
"Oh well yeah Alfred could teach you every single rule and also how to evade a tail." Austin replies, as he steps up around to look up at the menu, hmming a little bit to himself as he views over the various options, "What do I want. What do I want.." He rubs his chin a little bit.

After going over the menu a couple more times, Austin does head up to the counter, "Hey there. Could I get the Bird's Nest?" A big waffle bowl with three different types of ice cream and nuts and chocolate chips.

He turns his head a little bit to give a knowing grin at the other two, "Oh and a bottle of milk too, please." He finally says, "Oh and whatever these two want to get also." He says, stepping out of the way so Phoebe can order.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah, but he's definitely taking it slow after I used the door of the Benz to launch over the roof and double-heel kick a guy for coming after him. Pretty sure I at least dislocated his jaw. But y'know, as the one 'sibling' where it's kinda common knowledge I got kicked outta Catholic school for fighting..." Phoeb trails off, and gives a bright grin. "I'll have a tripple scoop of black raspberry dream in a waffle cone, please and thank you!"

Austin Reese has posed:
"I wish I could have seen that." Austin replies, though when she mentions getting kicked out for fighting, "I never actually went to school much. That's why Bruce insisted I get my GED and then start school." Austin's definitely not dumb, he's shown that much in his classes.

Austin pays for Phoebe's as well, and then will get Tim's once he orders, "Should we go grab a table while we wait for our ice cream, Phoebe?"

Tim Drake has posed:
It's only once both Austin and Phoebe have ordered that Tim ambles up to the counter, safe in the knowledge that they can make sure no one claims their perfectly positioned booth in the meantime. "I'll take the Bear Claw sundae," he says.

Yes, it involves an entire danish serving as the basis of the sundae. Yes, there is also a honey drizzle, and crushed honeycomb candy sprinkled on top. It's probably at least 1000 calories.

Tim just laughs under his breath, amused about something, and takes his sundae back to the booth. "Thanks," he says to Austin on the way with a lingering grin.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Pretty sure Alfred erased any evidence of it." Phoebe gives a small smile, and she looks down.

"Yeah, kicked out of Catholic School in sixth, and then had to make an exit in my junior year due to... uh... bad stuff. So I got my GED while I was stuck in lock-down in New York City. This one in particular was pretty adamant that I pursue higher education and not just slouch around his basement." Pheeb gives a grin, motioning to Tim with her spoon as she sits down in the booth.

"... that is the most ridiculous ice cream sundae I've ever seen." she states, scooping the dark red-violet treat she's ordered up, and narrowing her eyes at Tim's Bear Claw.

    "I'm trying that next time."

Austin Reese has posed:
"Yeah that's insane." Austin adds, as he looks at Tim's massive desert, "I mean I saw the picture of it but still it just...Doesn't compare to the real world." His isn't anything to slouch at either, as he breaks off a piece of the waffle bowl and eats it with some of the vanilla ice cream.

Tim Drake has posed:
"I have no regrets," Tim announces, and then proceeds to stare down at his dessert for a long moment, unsure of where precisely to start. Because, yeah, it's big. Eventually he tackles it head-on by taking a bit scoop of honeycomb-dusted ice cream on his spoon.

"So how's school going?" he asks, leaving the question open-ended enough that either Phoebe or Austin could answer, depending on how forthcoming they wanted to be. And then he takes a big bite of ice cream.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"We're taking turns modeling in art class and I'm horrified of having to wear a tank top to do so. I think I might write myself a doctor's note that I'm out of class that week. I passed statistics -- with your help -- and thus far I've managed to make a near-enemy of someone who has a crush on Dick and doesn't seem to 'get it' that I'm legally his sister?" Phoebe remarks, her eyes narrowing a moment and then looking up. "I might take one of the half-credit courses during the summertime that offer nonsense coursework, like 'watching grass grow 101' or 'Philosophy of the Superhero' -- which boringly focuses on Superman."

Austin Reese has posed:
Austin eats away at his ice cream while Phoebe tells her story, imagining her spin kicking some guy who makes an inappropriate comment in art class.

"That's not a bad idea, getting the extra credits. I've been slowly but surely plugging away at the fluid dynamics classes." He pauses for a second, "I did get a neat idea for something the other day in class, though. I'll have to test it."

Tim Drake has posed:
"Why is everyone so obsessed with Dick?" Tim asks, then immediately holds up his spoon. "Nevermind. Don't answer that." He goes in for another bite, nodding along to first Phoebe and then Austin's school updates at all the important points. Then he tears off a piece of the bear claw base.

He's chewing through that when Austin mentions Fluid Dynamics, and he nods. "With Dr. Chen?" he asks. "Fluids was one of my favorite classes. I wish I could go back and take it again." Only this nerd would fantasize about retaking college courses. He cups his cheek in his hand and drags his spoon through the ice cream beginning to pool at the bottom of his sundae dish, eyeing Austin for a moment before prompting him with a, "Well, what's your idea?"

And then Phoebe gets a cheeky, "Think you'll get extra credit if you interview Superman in real life?"

Austin Reese has posed:
There is a giant grin on Austin's face when Tim says what he says, though he doesn't say anything. He doesn't need to. Though the response about the class gets him to respond, "That's the one." Austin replies while pointing at Tim with his spoon. It's clean.

"I'm thinking some kind of highly compressed sticky foam." He says in response to Tim, "I know there's been grenades and sprayers of it before, but my brain was thinking something like a disk you slap on someone and it blasts out and around them. The chemistry might be hard, but I bet you could solve it Tim."

Tim Drake has posed:
"Loved his classes," Tim says, his eyes taking on a faraway look as he thinks back. But Austin's idea pulls him forward again, back to the here and now, and he pulls a pen out of his pocket. Click.

A napkin from the dispenser on the table will suffice for him to start sketching out ideas based on Austin's description. "Sticky foam... we might have something like that in the lab already that we can use." He scribbles a few notes down. "Just a matter of keeping it pressurized to the right psi until deployment...."
