Crown's Awakening
Date of Scene: 29 April 2023
Location: Palace - Asgard
Synopsis: Odin returns!
Cast of Characters: Thor, Loki, Frigga

Thor has posed:
The word swept through the castle fast as lightning and bright as the sun. For it was word that carried joyous tones and pleased those who spoke of it to bear this particular news. First it took the palace, and then it was cried down from on high, a guard at the walls, a voice in the halls, and such laughter and joy was rarely heard.
For the word that had passed was that Mighty Odin stirred.
High in the palace in the grand chamber where the monarch of Asgard lay at rest, under vigil and watch from sword and shield and soldier at all times. Soldiers that were under orders at the first sign of movement or words given that they should sound the call.
And after a few moments, it reached where Thor had been. This day it found him in the stables far and below. The brush in his hand was held to the side as a messenger rushed in to declare joyfully.
    "Prince Thor, it's your father!"
And that was all it took. There was the rush and leap of Mjolnir to the Asgardian prince's hand. With a spin of motion he raised the ancient weapon and it took him into the skies past golden tower and turret. It was there at the balcony of the royal quarters, not quite in Odin's resting place but adjacent that he landed, moving quickly to the guards who stood sentinel.
    "Let me past!"
Was all he said at first as the doors were opened.

Loki has posed:
There were other watchers constantly keeping an eye on Odin's status. Even a hair of beard in a different place was dutifully noticed by Loki's prying magical stewards. And so it is a lightning fast response from Loki, prince of secrets and information.... that he immediately sent a spark of notice through magically to Frigga. While such a small message, a sparkle at most, carries no real sentence or information, he can trust his mother will know and understand that signal as exactly what it is.

Loki physically will take a little bit of time to throw open a teleport from where he is, but still, a quick portal spell is going to be faster than running manually. He doesn't go directly -- but instead to the exterior door of Frigga's corridor that connects to where Odin sleeps. He expects find her there, as they all converge onto Odin's quarters of lengthy slumber.

Frigga has posed:
Word is to the Halls, word is to the ends of the Realm, and who can learn it at the speed of thought, rather than of voice and blaring horns? Those attuned to specific magics, that is, the subtle communication of mother and son.

Frigga is in chambers, applying some touches to a hybrid plant that will be added soon to the gardens below. It's a chance to work with her hands, to get them dirty in a completely different way. Something gains her attention, and wiping her hands from the dirt, she looks up and smiles. Her hands are dipped into a basin of water, and as she walks quickly towards her doors and to the corridor beyond, she dries her hands, setting it to the side as the portal opens to her command.

"Loki," and the word is warm and holding that undertone of happiness, if not a little bit of relief. Her hand takes hold of his elbow for an escort, and their path is taken for the convergence.

Thor has posed:
The guard had stepped back to allow Thor entry, but when that portal opened and the other family members appeared he stepped to the side and motioned to the entryway as he ceded his position for a wife's prerogative.
"Mother, Loki." Those words given with proper tone and tempo, yet one could sense the impatience in the blond Asgardian with the eyepatch. He smiles a little, just a small hopeful thing before he waits to fall in step with his brother once his mother precedes him.
Sidelong to Loki he says, "Had you any warning?" His eyebrow quirked even as they move inward.

Loki has posed:
Loki doesn't turn towards Thor at all, so the sidelong look will reveal the usual difficult, mercurial profile of Loki. Little is on his sleeve at least at first, but full awareness that Thor is looking for information from him. And perhaps there's small fun in holding it just a breath longer.

Then Loki gives a little motion, dip of head, that translates into 'some' or 'a little'. He too let Frigga move in front of them, for the brothers to move after her into the room ahead.

Loki finally speaks -- though it isn't in the cheerful greetings the others gave; Loki merely absorbed their greetings in a kingly manner. Perhaps his last deed, for now, that will have such a kingly bearing to it. "I thought it could be tonight. I'm pleased to be right," Loki says, lofty. But there's other emotions here, as while Loki had decided long ago how he'd react and play this, it is another to have the situation suddenly in front of him. He held Asgard through a mess, and feels ...messy about how it felt to do so.

Frigga has posed:
Leaving her boys to follow in behind her, Frigga has no reason to remain regal regarding her cross to Odin's bedside. A hand is lain upon his, her hand upon his forehead, eyes of blue that hold the millennia of affection she's had for her husband search for hints within that single crystal orb. "Odin," and she speaks softly, words just for him, "the day waits for thee. The Realm of Asgard awaits you. Your sons have kept vigil and waited for this moment." One longer than the other, but tht'll come later.. in later conversation.

Looking back at the pair, her expression holds the affection for the brothers as they stand side by side before she returns her attention to her husband. "You will be proud of them."

Thor has posed:
Thor moves with them, and at first at Loki's words he takes in a deep breath, filing them away as he considers. But then his joyous mood overruns that dour aspect and he half-smiles a little. As Frigga takes a few steps beyond them he says quietly, enough so their mother... might hear. But just might.
"Of course you did." And should Loki look back he's smiling, good eye lifted upward in that damnably smug way he had at times when they were children. But perhaps one can excuse him for the moment has him feeling something that has only been held sparing these days. A touch of hope.
They draw near to Frigga and their father, Thor's mien eases. A look of concern returns, reservation. He catches Frigga's eye oh so briefly and nods. Then he takes up a place next to the bed, kneeling on one knee and resting his arms across it.

Loki has posed:
While Odin remained asleep, Loki has to behave one way --- and so there's some whiplash here, of how now to /be/, depending on Odin's state. But as Loki approaches and observes Thor drop to his knee, he takes in something far more important... Odin's eye being open, a clear awareness to it even as his gaze moves over the ceiling and then arcs to land first on Thor, while his hand moves to turn to respond to Frigga's touch of his hand and wrist.

It's Loki that's more towards the back, remaining standing for this moment, this hesitation, before he moves down to take his appropriate spot next to Thor, a mirror of his brother's stance.

Frigga has posed:
There is silence in the room other than the change of breathing of Asgard's King. His clear blue eye is open, though there i no movement to hint that he's heard aught. That passes for a few more heartbeats before there is a movement of his hand, and it shifts to lightly clasp and squeeze Frigga's hand before it releases once again. It is the only personal gesture, which is absolutely proof that it is truly Odin.

"My sons.." and the usual booming voice is soft in the room, only because of disuse. His head turns to see the pair, his gaze resting upon Thor first, and then Loki. Is that a hint of a scowl upon his face at the sight of the Trickster?

Frigga knows Odin's moods, and she murmurs, "I do not lie to you, Odin. You have much to be proud of in your sons. Both of them."

Odin rolls his head back, and closes his eye briefly as he draws a deep breath, exhaling it once more before his eye opens once more. "I wish to know the state of the Realm." Once more, the white-haired All Father looks to Thor in expectation.

Thor has posed:
"Father." Thor says simply that one word first. Then he lifts his chin. "Mother speaks true, Loki was stalwart and strong while I... was not." The Thunderer rests a hand upon the edge of the bed but does not quite touch his elder. Not yet at least.
"When I was struck low, Loki rose to the occasion. It is due to him that Asgard still stands as it ever did." He looks to the side with that one good eye, smiling a little towards his brother, then his mother. He looks back and takes a deep breath.
"I was lost, and as you see while you traded your eye for wisdom, mine came at the cost of my hubris." He lifts a hand slightly from the edge of the bed, but stops himself from touching the patch upon him. Instead he clears his throat. Then says. "Though, once again I perhaps speak too much."

Loki has posed:
Loki looks... bewildered. He hasn't really looked up -- as if maybe if he didn't look at anyone else they will fail to look at him and take in the disoriented look on his face. He does remove most of it by the time Thor casts a look at him, and one of those immediate little crinkled-nose smiles is present with a little nod of 'Ah, a complient, acceptable' at Thor.

Still, Loki's even /more/ off balance now, which means he doesn't chime in or snipe at anybody at the moment. He's just on his heels, but senses he needs to say something.

"Yes, rather. No war, and everything is still in the vault. The --- //Our// people are safe. I know everyone is /surprised/," Loki remarks, in a strange emulation of himself in a joking manner. It's a little flat, just since Loki's so ...hopeful to get approval, but not expecting any. That he'll need to go on the defensive shortly: but he doesn't WANT to have to, not really.

Odin continues to draw Frigga's hand in, to rest it on his wrist, while his other crosses to splay fingers over hers thee. His eye is on Thor now. "There will be more lessons required of you, my son. Look upon what you have gained, as I look upon how you have grown," Odin says, with apparent pride, or relief-- in Thor's recovery and return.

"Lessons for each of you." That was towards Loki, who looks like he's trying to decide if he's rebellious or not.

Frigga has posed:
Odin studies Loki with that single, unwavering eye. The hand that he has upon Frigga's is warmth against warmth, that anchor in the moment. It is as if he is peering at him, searching his face, his manner, looking for something, anything, that may hint at other than what has been told to him.

And there is the report of the Realm. He, too, makes note of 'Our people', and looks at Frigga quickly before looking back to Loki. He nods curtly, once, before he relaxes into the cover, a decided difference between Odin-sleep and now simple relaxation. The single eye closes once more, and the breath that is drawn is one of normal slumber.

Frigga watches Odin looking at their sons, and at the end of it all, her lips press together, and finally, a smile forms there.

"Thank you," the words are a whisper, "He sleeps now and dreams. He will wake on the morning's sun, and we can have breakfast together."
