Date of Scene: 06 May 2023
Location: Sherwood Florist, First Floor
Synopsis: Late night plant shopping sends Ivy home with a project and Clint home with a phone number.
Cast of Characters: Dinah Lance, Clint Barton, Pamela Isley

Dinah Lance has posed:
It is late on a Friday evening, and the flower shop should probably long since been closed. And yet, the light is on, and within Dinah is slowly cleaning up the counter. Brushing off some clippings from her latest project, a set of centerpieces for a Cinco de Mayo party. They simply /had/ to be made today, and so despite the shows usual hours, Dinah had to put in the time. She probably ought to have closed the door and locked it if she truly wished to get home, but she has not, and so continues to bustle about within the shop. It is not as if she has anything better to do.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint Barton rarely needs to buy flowers.

But on the days that he does? It's for important reasons. The bell at the Sherwood Florist front door chimes joyfully at the entrance of a customer, dressed in a basic shirt, some jeans, and a black jacket. The man clears his throat, as if attempting to get Dinah's attention.

"Ah, excuse me miss, I know it's late but I was wondering if I could grab some last minute stuff before you close out?"

He has no idea her times, but she's absolutely at the risk of closing any second.

So he's taking a shot while he has time to aim.

Pamela Isley has posed:
The redhead who walks the streets has her hair tied up int a loose bun and wears some glasses. Her skin is fair and she is dressed in a dark green top and some brown shorts as she seemingly just was out for a stroll. Having sense the plants ahead she figured she would just window shop and see how things are going. But as she walks closer, Pamela sees the door open when a man steps in. Are they still open? Curious she slowly walks toward the door, staying outside for now, just to be sure this isn't a robbery. That or a romantic tryst. In Gotham one can't be too sure honestly.

Dinah Lance has posed:
Looking up as someone comes into the shop, Dinah seems ready with a quick response. "We're clos--" she starts, but then for some reason pauses. She considers Clint quietly, and then ofers a smile and a nod. "Sure, last minute." She wipes off the last of the debris from the counter. "May as well do some business as long as I'm still stuck here." She waves a hand vaguely at him. "If you know what you want, just grab it."

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint winces.

Fuck, they're closed!

But then Dinah gives him that smile and tells him that last minute shopping is all good. "Thanks, you're a lifesaver." Clint walks over to some wildflowers that were on display and he starts grabbing different things of them. "I forgot to buy flowers, a friend of mine is in the hospital and I feel like a total ass not grabbing some, you know?" Clint asks Dinah witha little smile.

He seems to notice Pamela, but he doesn't say anything quite yet in case Pamela was also hoping to just look.

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy pausing by the door manages to hear they are not closed. Which means these two don't know each other. Figuring this is nothing to worry about the redhead will open the door herself. Doing her best to be relaxed as she steps inside and reaches out to feel how this little waystation of Green feels in the choking city of Gotham. "I hope it is nothing too serious," she offers to the man hearing about someone in the hospital.

Dinah Lance has posed:
"Mmm hmm. Sometimes they call me that," Dinah replies, with a bit of a grin for the man. Her face falls a bit as he mentions the reason. "Flowers tend to help, but certainly just showing up to visit will be nice." She leans back against the wall behind the counter, crossing her arms as she watches Clint hunt for the items. "What happened?" she asks, as she notes Ivy's arrival, and gives her a smile and a nod as well.

Clint Barton has posed:
Pamela's official arrival causes Clint to look at her. "Depends on what you mean by 'serious'. I think they're still talking about surgery, but hopefully nothing life-threatening." Clint shrugs a little bit, giving her a friendly smile. Then he turns to Dinah. "Not surprised. You have a /very/ convenient shop."

He crafts himself a little bouquet. "You wouldn't happen to sell 'get well soon' cards here do you?" He asks her.

What happened?

Well, Clint doesn't tell her that it the friend is an agent who thought it was a great idea to intercept the target via a car accident that went /way/ harder than intended.

"Car accident."

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy doesn't want to tell the woman her job that runs the shop but she can try to help out. "I'm sure a nice store like this will have plants that are in soil and potted. Less to worry about, last longer, and often can be something to take home if desired." She will look through the offerings as she goes through Dinah's shop> "Nice place. I always enjoy a good florists." Though she clearly if favoring the live ones over the clipped ones.

Dinah Lance has posed:
"If surgery is involved, I am sure it is at least /somewhat/ serious," replies Dinah, her voice tinged with concern. But she smiles at his comment about the shop. "Well, I did choose this spot for a reason." She pushes off the wall and steps out from behind the counter. "I don't have a /lot/ of cards, but I have a few." She moves away from the counter and heads over towards the corner, bending down towards a small cabinet.

She glances over her shoulder at Ivy and nods. "We do have plenty of plants. I prefer to sell those, honestly, but cut flowers tend to be in more demand, and it'd be tough to keep up with just live plants."

Clint Barton has posed:
"Well, I just mean like...surgery on the leg versus triple bypass." Clint remarks to Dinah, but he seems to keep up a positive attitude. "I'm sure they'll be fine. They're tough, tougher than I can hope to be anyway." Either humility or outright bullshittery, it's hard to tell.

He's a trained agent. He knows how to mask things, like his emotions. Though he looks at Pamela and he nods softly. "Hmmm...soil and potted...yeah, that's probably a good idea." He smiles at her. "Thanks!"

He turns to Dinah then. "Ah, saved my life /twice/." He tells her as he walks towards where she is.

Pamela Isley has posed:
"I understand. That and you have to try to sell them while they are just before their loveliest bloom." Ivy has a small smile as she looks over at the cut flowers and seems to consider what Dinah has to offer. She reaches out to touch one or two even, those that are not hidden away to stay fresh or protected at least. "Sounds like a good friend to have, Mister. I have a few like that myself." She then looks over to Clint again, "are you going there after this? Seems late for a visit."

Dinah Lance has posed:
"Oh, that's not as bad, then." replies Dinah, seeming relieved. "Although physical trauma adds up too." She pulls open the cabinet and digs around for a box within as Clint and Ivy continue to discuss the selection.

Finally she straightens up as Clint approaches, laughing as she shakes her head. "I just did my duty," she replies, reaching up with two fingers to give him a salute before using them to tuck some blonde hair back behind her ear. "Hopefully one of these will do the trick," she says, extending the box to him with her other hand.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint has a big smile on his face as Dinah claims she's just doing her duty. "It does, but hopefully it'll be /awhile/ - if ever - before we run through this all over again." Clint shakes his head, as if cursing the idea so it never rises again.

He accepts the box from her. "Thanks. Oh, I'm Clint by the way." He extends a hand to Dinah, before he turns to look at Pamela. "The best. That was the plan, yeah! Just figured I'd grab them a little something to show I care. If that makes sense."

He digs through the box, looking for a particular kind of card. "Nah...no...not this one..."

He mutters a little bit to himself as he searches through it. He turns to Pamela. "Should introduce myself to you too. I'm Clint." He extends a hand to her as well.

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy is subtly checking on the plants, and using tiny bits of her powers to help some of them perk up just a little. Especially if she can do it to the one Clint is looking to buy and not get it noticed. She smiles to the man and nods to Dinah. "Well I hope they appreciate the effort and thoughtfulness. "Call me Gail please, never cared for my birth name as much." A mix of truth and lie as often is the case in her line of works. "Do you have a means to handle a large order," she ask Dinah as she works. "If I choose to buy a fair bit do you have a means I could carry them home without too much difficulty?"

Dinah Lance has posed:
"I would much rather your friend be safe and I do less business," agrees Dinah, straightening a bit as she regards Clint. "One of the downsides to this business - unless it's a man feeling guilty about cheating on his wife, not too many repeat customers in short order." She shrugs a bit, leaning back to rest her rump against the counter behind her, placing both hands flat against the low lying counter as Clint starts to look through the box.

The plants, overall, do look to be well cared for, but certainly thrive under Ivy's slightest touch and attention. "I can handle as much as you'd need, I'd hope." Dinah looks over to Ivy and purses her lips in thought. "I have a few boxes in the back that you are welcome to, that should make it easier."

Clint Barton has posed:
"Yeah...that's fair."

He did notice that Dinah didn't give him her name, but Clint doesn't chase after that train of thought. Rather, he tilts his head. "Yikes. I assume that happens pretty often? People who cheated looking for makeup flowers?" Clint shakes his head.

Finally, he pulls out a card that he likes. "Bingo."

"You and me both." He tells Dinah with a smile." Though he does seem to notice that Ivy's perking up the plants just a tad. "Nice to meet you Gail. If it helps, I never liked my name either." He shrugs. "Feels like it's from a western or something."

Pamela Isley has posed:
"Or former presidents," she offers to Clint about his name. "Mine tends to just make others think of storms, or rainbows. Depending on how old they are." Ivy is starting to figure out how much she can really carry on her own. "Mind calling me a cab," she asks both of them. "I had walked here but if I end up buying more I may need the wheels." She's getting some inspiration from her work on a special flower in question and wants to get samples for her tests and lab.

Dinah Lance has posed:
"All. The. Time." replies Dinah, shaking her head. "You can start to tell, actually, after a while." She laughs. "Although the biggest tell is when they come in and buy the same romantic bouquet and ask to have it sent to two different places, two different cards." She grins as she watches Clint for a moment. "You don't know /how/ tempting it is sometimes to 'accidentally' switch the cards." She sighs again, pushing off the counter as Clint makes his selection. "But much like priests and lawyers, we florists have a certain confidentiality to us."

"Let me grab some of those boxes," she says to Ivy, moving towards the back. "And then we can get you a cab." Dinah disappears through a door, and then as if suddenly realizing her rudeness earlier, she calls out. "I'm Dinah, sorry. Mind was elsewhere."

Clint Barton has posed:
"Yeah, that too."

Clint smirks at Pamela just a moment, though he seems to nod. "Sure, I can call ya a cab." He tells Pamela as he pulls out a cell phone, though he ends up laughing a little. "I hear you there. I have a habit of just buying things too...a bit more than my hands can carry."

He turns to look at Dinah then. "Geez. They're /that/ bold about it?" Clint shakes his head. "Some people's kids." He says in mild disdain about people's poor behavior. "You know...I could just /pay/ you to switch up the cards /just once/. Confidentiality in tact and you can just blame me for outbidding them." He winks at Dinah playfully.

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy keeps her views on love and how poorly it normally goes to herself. She busies herself with picking out the flowers she'll need and to buy. "Why not hire a PI to take the pictures or something and not get the nice florist in trouble?" She glances over at Clint with her question even as she takes the liberty to lightly use a nail and pinch off a wilting leaf on a flower. "There you go. That should help you feel better," talking to the plant of course. "Sorry to make you do all this work so late Dinah. Though I am glad I found your shop."

Dinah Lance has posed:
Letting Clint arrange for the cab with Ivy, Dinah finally emerges with two large boxes, both with handles, and able to be stacked on top of each other with enough height to allow shorter plants to remain on the bottom tray. "Yes, please let's not get the nice florist in trouble," she says with a grin towards Ivy. "She gets into enough trouble as it is without adding /that/ to it." She winks at Clint after placing the trays next ot the plans that Ivy is eyeing. "I mean, if /you/ want to intercept the cards, I can't help that, but I think that would still end up getting me into trouble." She shrugs. "I also feel like karma will eventually catch up to them and kick them in the ass."

As if to demonstrate, she executes a rapid front kick that looks far more like a martial artist than a mere flower girl.

Clint Barton has posed:
"Also, nice to meet you Dinah."

A bit of getting back for the delayed reaction, no doubt, since Clint's rather mischievous. "I don't mind a little bad karma from time to time." Is he flirting? Probably. But he turns his eyes towards Ivy. "Well, people have to get bold to hire a PI. Lot of room for error there, suspicions confirmed or denied. I hear there's a good one in Hell's Kitchen though." He seems to be spending some minor time on an app before he nods to 'Gail'. "Uber on the way."

He turns his eyes to Dinah just in time to watch her do an insane kick, causing him to whistle. "Damn, good form."

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy is gathering a not small amount of everything she needs to help her little personal project and is going to help Dinah get through to the next big plant holiday hopefully. "I appreciate the boxes, Dinah. Thank you. I should be able to easily get stuff in and out of the cab with these and back to my own garden." She steps back a bit with the series of kicks and the shop's leaves faintly rustle from the... wind of her kicks. Surely that's why. Smoothing her hands along her figure some Ivy says, "I appreciate the help as well Clint. I go on walks without my phone to get some peace and quiet." She asks the man then, "You a fighter or something?"

Dinah Lance has posed:
An eyebrow arches as Dinah watches Clint, and then her expression gives way to a laugh. "Oh, I don't think you could handle this much bad karma," she says, clearly interpretting it as flirting, whether that was the intent or not. She makes her way over towards the counter to start tallying up what Ivy has selected.

"Thanks," she says, her gaze still down as she runs the numbers. "My parents thought it was important that a girl in Gotham know hwo to defend herself." She looks up and watches as Ivy starts to question Clint.

Clint Barton has posed:
Clint looks at Pamela, briefly wondering how he should handle this particular situation.

"I used to be. Not like a professional or anything. Did martial arts, know a good kick when I see one, you knw?" He smiles at Ivy. "You go on walks without your phone? Kinda dangerous, isn't it?" He looks at her then, a bit more intently. "...eh, you're probably a secret badass or something."

He turns his attention back to Dinah, a smirk on his face. "You should try me sometime." Clint continues the flirting rather happily. "Smart decision. You guys have Batman, but I don't know if the guy can be everywhere. Always, always good to know how to defend yourself." He nods approvingly, before looking back to Pamela.

"Can I help carry anything?"

Pamela Isley has posed:
Ivy motions to Dinah as she answers Clint's question on safety. "I'm a Gotham girl and I can protect myself. Besides who could I possible call that could be there fast enough to pull my butt from a truly dangerous situation? This is not the territory of the likes of Flash or Superman. I have my ways to keep myself safe though. I never said I was helpless."
She starts to see about helping to get herself checked out. "Don't forget Batgirl and Batwoman. Then there's others as well. Our city has plenty of... eccentrics. Met a few even." Doingher best to keep it vague as possible. "If you like, I won't say no to an extra pair of hands."

Dinah Lance has posed:
There is a moment of clear contemplation on Dinah's face as she watches Clint. "What's the worst that can happen?" That may not be the best response to verbalize, but it's what comes out of her mouth. Then she shrugs, and turns her attention back to Ivy.

"Exactly. Gotta be able to take care of yourself." She finishes up the tally, and looks to Ivy and Clint as they seem to be working together to get the plants under control. "You guys have that, or do you need a third set?"

Clint Barton has posed:
"Hah, dangerous words to say."

Clint knows /exactly/ what the worst that can happen is. It ain't super great. But Clint smiles at Dinah. "Don't suppose I can get your number and we can go out to dinner sometime?" Clint's gotta be bold! He fgures he at least has a foot in the door!

He turns his attention to Pamela then, a kindness in his eyes. "Well, you got a point there. Between you and me though? I'm more scare dof Batman. OG feels, you know? Nothin' wrong with a little bit of weird." He returns his attention to Dinah.

"I think we got it under control."

Dinah Lance has posed:
"Well, a little danger never hurt anyone." Despite the fact that that is precisely what danger is, Dinah seems confident enough in her statement. She quirks her lips at his question, and then points up above her head, where the phone number for the shop is prominently displayed. "We'll see how dinner goes before you earn /my/ number."

She nods towards Clint, and then spares another smile for Ivy as the settle up. "Sounds good. You two be careful out there. Never know what you'll find in Gotham." She grins as she settles back against the wall as the two take the plants out.

But this time she has the presence of mind to follow shortly after to flip the OPEN sign to CLOSED.
