Introductions are in order...
Date of Scene: 11 June 2023
Location: Apartment 4B (Bart's Apartment)
Synopsis: Emiko meets Jenny, Bart is mocked, and ongoing situations with the Rogues are discussed.
Cast of Characters: Jenni Ognats, Emiko Queen, Bart Allen

Jenni Ognats has posed:
She's said it before and Jenni will probably say it again, the past is SO STRANGE.

Seriously, there's like three hundred DIFFRENT sovereign nations on this ONE planet...they speak more than seven THOUSAND DIFFERENT languages...and the country that's basically the cultural hegemon in this time period uses a language that somehow manages to be simple, nonsensical, complex, fluid, logical, and complex ALL AT THE SAME TIME. And let's not get started on the measurement systems.

Fortunately, Jenni has found an absolute GODSEND that has helped TREMENDOUSLY. PBS. Between reruns of Sesame Street, The Electric Company, BBC documentaries, and the subtle zen that is Bob Ross' 'The Joy of Painting', the young speedster has MOSTLY gotten her skills with the local language back. Plus it's given her something to do while Bart's at work these days.

The fact that the 'discoveries' talked about breathlessly on NOVA are either ancient history or vastly wrong have also been a source of amusement for the time travelling speedster.

Still, certain chores need to be done, and some of them don't work well at superspeed. Such as laundry. Jenni doesn't have much in the way of clothing (yet) outside of what she was wearing when she blew into this time period and an emergency kit in one of the pouches on her uniform...unfortunately, those needed to be cleaned and her uniform wasn't self-repairing right until she realized it needed a bit of copper and zinc. Fortunatly, she found some pennies in the couch that are solving that problem. And some hand washing took care of the rest. Now she's just hanging out in a bathrobe on Bart's couch, quoting along with one of her new favorite shows, "...there are no mistakes here...just happy accidents..."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Just because Emiko wasn't the one that could move at supersonic speeds doesn't mean she shouldn't be the one to make the travel to another city to visit on occasion. That and, having helped one of the elder Flashes deal with some Rogues the other night she felt like maybe she could ask for a bit more information on the matter. Like why two different pairs had been crazy enough to try and rob the exact same part of the city, which just seemed... dumb to her tactical thinking.

So here she is, making her way up to the apartment. And not entirely sure if Bart was actually home yet she just lets herself in, nudging the door open. "Hello! Decided it was my turn to visit you for a cha--"

Which is as far as she gets in a few steps before noticing there is already an occupant on the couch, and it isn't the man of the apartment. "--and it would seem I've caught something else besides."

At least, despite being a trained assassin, she doesn't go into kill mode or anything. Just regards the other woman with a scrutinizing gaze.

A pause.

"I don't think he's ever loaned -me- his bathrobe."

Jenni Ognats has posed:
As the door opens, Jenni blinks and looks over at Emiko as she steps inside. At first she thought it was Bart getting back...but a glance at the clock showed that the time was wrong for that.

Still, whomever was coming in apparently was supposed to be here, since they had a key for the locks. So the odds of a breakin or some other kind of unwanted intruder are low.

Obviously confused and a bit unsure about who this is that has just entered...and the rather intense look she gets just sets Jenni on the back foot even more. Hesitantly, she offers a nervous little wave that goes on a bit too long as she wracks her brain for what kind of greeting she should use in a situation like this in English...

Sadly, after a long, drawn out pause, all she can really manage is a nervous, "...errr...hello there." The second statement, however, then percolates through her mental translation and she looks down at said bathrobe, "...well, he didn't actually LOAN this to me, I kinda just borrowed it since he was out."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko Queen's gaze doesn't leave the other, and there's a soft snort as it's pointed out she borrowed the robe rather than having it loaned. But to her credit she doesn't seem particularly... angry? At least not to the point of yelling or anything. Maybe annoyed. Because something here she doesn't know about.

Bart didn't tell her there was anyone else here. But also he would of told her not to coming visiting right now if there was a reason for her to not be here. So there was something she was missing that was going on, and arguably that annoyed her more than anything else. She liked being in the know. Lack of knowing is what gets people... okay that's going off onto a more morbid tangent than needed.

Finally Emiko just huffs a bit, resting one hand on her hip and giving her head a shake. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Bart is a dork but he's a rather likable dork."

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni snorts, "Oh, don't get me STARTED. You should have met him before he was properly socialized. Seriously, he was even worse when he was clueless and trying to sort out human interaction."

She shakes her head, "Still, he might as well be my litle brother." She pauses, then frowns, "...or maybe he's my older brother now?" There's another few moments of thought, then she sighs and shrugs, "We'll have to sit down sometime and figure out relative timeframes."

She stands up, stretches a bit, "...one of the downsides of coming from a family of time travellers is stuff like this."

There's a beat as she steps across the room, offering a hand where she momentarily gets a concerned expression when she remembers that secret identities are a thing in this era...but then she takes another look at Emiko and tosses that worry aside. Whoever this person who Bart apparently knows well enough to give a key is, there's something about her that tells Jenni she's 'seen the elephant' as it were.

And GRIFE, phrases like that are why English is such a confusing language.

The expression passes in but a second before Jenni smiles again, "Jenni Ognats, pleased to meet you."

Emiko Queen has posed:
Oh. Oooooh. Almost immeadiately Emiko picks up on the details about knowing him before (or later), confusing age difference shifts, and phrases like 'timeframes', so she comes to the conclusion of more time travel shenanigans about the same as when Jenni outright says she's part of the family.

She accepts the handshake. And goodness does she have a strong grip for someone so small looking. It's the half-Asian ancestory. And the training to be deadly opposition inspite the vertical shortcomings (ha ha).

"Emiko Queen," she replies. "Bart's girlfriend." And clearly not one to tiptoe around other details, either.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen comes back to the apartment as he had a meeting at work, and with other people there it is one of the things he could not just zoom through. Afterwards he decided he should go shopping, with two speedsters about keeping groceries maybe a challenge. So that is what brings Bart coming backing through the door arms full of bags keys hanging from his fingers "I got food for tonight, and maybe tomorrow" He calls out.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni's handshake is about in line with an average person of her size. Then again, as can probably be surmised, she's a speedster...and grip strength has never particulary been something that Flashes are noted for.

Halfway through the handshake, however, Jenni's expression turns from one of cheerfulness to outright disbelief as she says in an incredulous voice, "GIRLFRIEND?!" She gives Emiko a look of utter confusion and bewilderment as if one asked a computer to divide by zero, and she steps back a bit, "...you CAN'T be serious!!" She takes a moment to take another obvious look at Emiko as disbelief becomes her prominent expression once more, "...Bart's finally noticed GIRLS?!" She shakes her head, "...I wasn't sure it was possible..."

Emiko Queen has posed:
That gets a bit of a scrutinizing look to come back. "And what is that suppose to mean?"

But then the man himself finally arrives. With maybe two day's worth of groceries, considering there's multiple speedsters present in the apartment now. "Pff. Two is possibly overestimating it. Depends how many laps you took to get home," she teases. "And now you know how I feel trying to keep a pantry properly prepared for you to stay over." She's definitely being more snarky than mad or anything else over the matter.

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen looks over a bit surprised to find Emiko here, but does smile. He carries the groceries to the kitchen and puts them up at speed, before coming out and giving Emiko a hug "Hey, I try to make sure I eat before I come at least." He offers and kisses her cheek. "So, you have met my cousin Jenni?" He looks over to Jenni "This is my girlfriend Emiko, and she knows all about me being from the future and such." As if Emiko's comment about how many laps around the block did not pretty much state she knows about him, but hey who knows she may have just known about the speedster not the future stuff.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
There's no real malice in Jenni's expression, "Oh, the last time I was in this timeframe, Bart and I were both about fourteen? All the boys on my team back in the 31st century were all hormone-addled teenagers at that age...but Bart was the most popular kid in his school and I don't think he even noticed that a good chunk of the students were swooning over him." She smirks, "It's probably because he was raised by videogames."

As Bart arrives with groceries and their adequacy for feeding two speedsters is commented upon, Jenni looks a bit sheepish, "I keep forgetting you have to pay for food. I'm kind of used to not having to worry about that kind of thing." Working for a government-funded super team kind of helps with things like people with colossal caloric intake needs, after all.

She then nods to Bart at his comment about Emiko being 'in the know' and she's going to just pretend she didn't potentially ouit him if things had been a bit different.

Happy accidents, after all.

Emiko Queen has posed:
"You hear that? She thinks you're not capable of having a girlfriend," Emiko teases, then returns to cheek kiss with one of her own. A shrug of her shoulder to Jenni. "You get use to having to compensate for it after a while. So, another cousin, huh? This keeps up and you're going to have more family living in the present than the future."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen chuckles a bit and says "Well, actually I think I already have more family here than the future "Pretty much there is now My mom, Jenni's dad, and Grandma Iris, but there is a version of her here as well, in fact here and Grandpa are still just dating here, but thats one of the future things." This reminds him and he looks to Jenni, and says "Oh Irie is keeping who here mom is secret, since Wally and here aren't dating yet here."

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni blinks, then starts rubbing her face, "...oh, grife...now I'm SURE the Time Trapper is sprocking with me." She sighs, takes a deep breath, then nods, "Duly noted. No telling Wally about who he gets married to...and Grandpa's alive in this timeframe...does he even know he has grandchildren here yet?"

Flashes...because they aren't content just having mere secret identities...they have to have secret identities for their secret identities with a side of 'potentially screwing with history' on the side. At least she made sure to get enough training on transtemporal mechanics from Braniac 5 to keep all this kind of thing straight after the last few times.

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko Queen shakes her head a bit. "I don't know how you manage to keep track of all that." She walks over to the kitchen area for a moment to get herself a drink. "Speaking of 'Grandpa', his Rogues Gallery has been acting a bit odd lately. A few of us helped him fend off the tech divsion of Metropolis from two of them the other night... and he said it's the second time they'd tried robbing that district, no less. Repeatedly hitting the same place seems... shortsighted."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen hmmms a bit at this and says "Which rogues were it?" HE asks, as he moves to pace a bit in thought "It could be Cold, or Mirror Master are trying to upgrade something, but I would think they would try to hit something else to draw away from that." He hmms and says "Did Grandpa say what he thought they were after?"

Jenni Ognats has posed:
As Emiko and Bart discuss some of her Grandpa's Rogues, Jenni stands there watching for a few moments, then absently begins putting groceries away around the other two.

Apparently she's taken the time to memorize where everything goes. Once she's got everything put away, she absently gets out a snack...which, for her, is one of those extra-large cup noodle things. She's found that they're REALLY easy to make when one can heat water to boiling near instantaneously with just a bit of speedster vibrations.

Emiko Queen has posed:
Emiko Queen pauses a moment to think, making sure she recalled who and when properly. "Weather Wizard and Mirror Master... I believe the cold guy was in the previous attempt." It was followed by a shrug. "He agreed it was odd but no solid reasons why. It could be not all the Rogues are working on the same effort, but it still seems odd they'd all go after the same district regardless." And that makes her tactical thinking twitch. There has to be a connection, just not one they can see yet. "Though even if the goofy names those guys aren't to be taken lightly. I had to get creative to deal with the windstorms and ice showers."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit to this and says "Yea, they can be a bit for some folks, but they are mainly used to fighting speedsters, so going towards your strengths will help you, as they won't expect it as much." He hmms a bit "I would guess they really want something that is in the tech buildings, it might pay to keep an eye on that area a bit more than others." He looks over to Emiko "Want anything?" He asks motioning towards the fridge and cabinets.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni slurps down her noodles and listens for the moment. Frankly, having a group of villians who primarily only really fight one particular hero is a bit of a novelty for her, "Grandpa has villains that only fight HIM? Are they particularly obsessed or something?"

Emiko Queen has posed:
"Not only, but most often. And yes." Emiko holds up the drink she already walked over for. "I'm fine... and yeah. That's why I was out on patrol that night, after word got out about the first attempt, and a lot of the other Titans were busy working on all that dream related stuff."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods, and will start to make himself a sandwich, as he explains "In this time, more often than not the lower powered villains stick to one specific area, there are times when they are venturing out but like Grandpa has his main villains, Batman has how and so on. Oh by the way if you use your speed while in Gothan to help folks, try to hide it, Batman gets grumpy when folks use powers in Gotham.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni absently helps Bart make his sandwich (passing condiments, plates, silverware, etc), then makes one herself after he's done, "Batman? Does he control Bats?" Kind of strange, but not the wierdest thing she's ever heard of, she supposes. Shrugging, she shakes her head, "...normally I'd wonder how that translates to fighting crime, but then again, my team had a guy on it that went by the moniker 'Matter Eater Lad'."

Emiko Queen has posed:
"No, he dresses up like one," Emiko replies like it was just another casual conversation. For her, it is really, talking about the odd motiffs some people decide to adopt. "Something about striking fear into the hearts of criminals by being all shadowy and brooding and such." She pauses to sip her drink. "Granted, black and grey are good nocturnal urban stealth colors so can't fault him for that part."

Bart Allen has posed:
Bart Allen nods a bit and says "Yea, he is one of the heroes who does not have powers, but uses their smarts, gadgets and honing their bodies to superb condition. We have a few in this era who do that, and gotta admit, I respect them." It may sound a bit like he is kissing butt but he is being honest.

Jenni Ognats has posed:
Jenni tilts her head a little, "No powers? At all?" She takes a few contemplative bites, "I mean, on the one hand, that sounds kind of unlikely. Sure, Tenzil's only power was the abilty to literally eat absolutely ANYTHING, but he made it work...I heard he once disarmed the Persuader by biting the head off his Atomic Axe."

Finishing her sandwich, she then waves a hand absently, "Though on the other hand, I once watched Karate Kid punch through a supermax prison cell forcefield with his bare hands, and technically Val's an unenhanced human, so I suppose that can work."
