Cast of Characters: Mary Bromfield, Marie-Ange Colbert

Mary Bromfield has posed:
The nice thing about having a penthouse to themselves, is having enough space that Mary can have a dedicated streaming space that has a fair amount of room. In this case, she has the green screen set up behind her, the title screen for Elden Ring behind her as she grins into the webcam. "Hey Contraries, how are you doing tonight? Okay, so you've heard about my girlfriend for a while now, and well, we're going to try something new. I know you saw me stream Elden Ring in that marathon run last year, but now we're going to have her try it."

Mary then laughs at the chat, "Oh chat, oh chat, she hasn't really played video games before, so we're throwing her into the deep end, not that she knows that yet. So NO SPOILERS CHAT. Mods, get out your banhammers, because I want this to be authentic." She chuckles, "And in case you're wondering, no, she didn't do anything to deserve this. Hold on and I'll get her in here." She pauses, then adds, "Oh, and if any chatters say we should start making out on camera you're banned for LIFE. Come on guys, this is Twitch not OnlyFans!" She sticks her tongue out at the camera, then pulls the green screen curtain back to wave Marie in.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Mary and Marie had talked about this before. The French girl was generally willing to try things that Mary asked her to... it was a nice way to share their interests with one another! Of course, she doesn't know exactly /what/ she's getting into, and that might be very evident given the smile on the redhead's face as she comes /properly/ into view. Dressed in a frilly white blouse with a black string tie, and black skirt to go with it. She's quick to give Mary a hug, and then if there's a chair, she'll settle into it.

There's a bit of a doe-eyed look towards the webcam at first, but then she smiles and waves at it. "Allo internets!" Hey, she's trying! "I will do my best to win the game, oui?" ...of course, then she's looking to Mary. "Ah... Mary, mon amour... how do I begin this?" There's probably controllers and other options /everywhere,/ and she's already a little overwhelmed. Without even pressing start.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins, "Okay, here's your controller, and you're going to be starting from scratch..." She gives a brief rundown for the controls for Marie, and starts the intro to the game as she chuckles, "Here's the fun part, well, a fun part, we're going to name your character, and customize her how you want. You can get as fancy as you like in this part."

At the mention of winning the game, Mary gives her girlfriend a wry look, "Hon, you saw how long /I/ was playing this. But we'll see if you like this or not." She seems to be barely keeping a good poker face about this as she gives Marie the brief rundown, letting her make her character how she likes.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Merci, mon cherie!" Marie replies with a bright grin, before taking the offered controller. With the controls memorized... for the moment... she's certain to win!

Someone clearly did not read her own fortune today.

For someone who's generally a creative in other aspects of her life, Marie is not terribly so when it comes to character creation; falling into a rather common trap: She's trying to make her character in the game as much like herself as possible. Why? Well, because the idea of seeing /herself/ running around in the game seems particularly entertaining to her.

"Oui! I did see how long you played." Marie replies with a bright grin. What she likely has not seen is the countless number of deaths en route to the eventual victory, as well as any controller-chucking moments of frustration. "...and clearly, something you enjoyed so thoroughly will be most fun to play!"

Oh, that poor, poor, innocent soul.

At least she hasn't died in character creation!

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins, keeping that poker face perfectly in place as she says, "Okay, so here we go, your Astrologer is loose in the world... you can go ahead and just follow the way down..." She gestures around, watching Marie navigate through the opening keep, through the archway...

And that's when the GRAFTED SCION drops down out of the sky. BOSS FIGHT TIME!

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Marie's happily travelling along. Even humming with the music of the game as she goes, because this is a jaunty little trip through the video game world! "How /exciting!/ This world is so hauntingly beauti--"

"--EEK!" Marie shrieks a little as the boss just /thumps/ down onto the playing field from no where. "It has so many legs!" Yes, this is her first reaction. Her second reaction?

...she makes her character /charge/ at the boss. Yup. Not playing keep away at all. She's trying to use the kinds of tactics she'd use in real life... and it's pretty clear why someone else normally makes these decisions.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary winces as the Grafted Scion just *smites* Marie's character. And then the familiar red text appears in bold letters on the screen.

YOU DIED.

Mary then grins, "Well, that does happen to everyone, see..." And then the cut scene with Torrent and Melina appears, letting Marie absorb what just happened as her character eventually awakens, despite dying, in some catacombs.

"Would you like a tutorial hon?" Mary is trying really hard not to laugh at Marie's reactions, though the chatroom is having a BLAST.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Nooooooo.....!" Marie cries out as she's defeated, letting her arms hand low and her head hang down. At least, until the game starts making /sounds/ again and she's looking up rather suddenly, eyes wide. "It is a miracle! I am alive! And I did not even eat any of the mushrooms!"

The majority of Marie's video game history, limited as it is, is Mario. Yes. She knows a thing or two about 1-Up Mushrooms. She expects to see them in every game ever made. She's often disappointed when they fail to show up.

When Mary offers a tutorial, Marie turns to regard her girlfriend with a cute look, "Oui, s'il vous plait?" Using all her powers of French persuasion, including the fluttering of her eyelashes. "I wish to not die."

She's playing the wrong game for that! Not that she'll give up that easily, either.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary grins, "Death is a learning experience here, Marie. Didn't you see how many times I died during my playthrough? Mods?" There's a pause as one of her mods digs back for the information...

MarysLittleHelper: About 241, though 56 of those were Malenia.

Mary then grins, "You're going to die. A lot. It's how you learn. Just be careful and relax, Marie. You'll get better." Or, well, this is going to be a LONG stream...

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
"Well, oui..." Marie admits, bowing her head slightly. "...but my goal should be to survive, beat /them/, and win the game, non?" the redhead replies. "But, I will try to relax the next time I face my opponent..." Definitely not gonna happen if they drop in quite the same way the first one did!

...and yes, it's definitely going to be a long stream. Marie's learning curve for a game of /this/ complexity? Not exactly great by any means. But her /reactions/ to her deaths, and to seeing enemeies that killed her before?

...not to mention the first time she manages to kill something? Oh, /that's/ a celebration. She's even doing her own version of a touchdown dance.

...and in the middle of said dance, when she wasn't paying attention?

YOU DIED.

Mary Bromfield has posed:
Mary laughs softly, and does, to her credit, help coach Marie along a bit, letting her explore a bit and coaching her *not* to get overloaded by enemies right away. Of course the stream loves it, and then she meets Melina and can start spending runes... and gets her horse!

TORRENT!

So now that just adds a whole new dimension to exploring the area. And really, she's starting to get a little bit of it... and then she meets the Witch. Who gives her summonable wolves.

Time for PUPPIES.

Marie-Ange Colbert has posed:
Animal companions clearly make the game that much better, although Marie's first question upon summoning both horse and wolves is the same, but slightly different. "Mary, which button do I press to pet the horse?" and "But surely, I can pet the wolves, oui?"

...the redhead has her priorities. Having a horse to ride around on also sidetracks her as she seems to enjoy /that/ part of the game quite a bit, to the point of ignoring her objectives on occasion for the sake of meandering around and cooing at Torrent.

Hey, everyone plays the game their own way!
