Cast of Characters: Matthew Murdock, Mary Jane Watson

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The text from Daisy Johnson had come after Matt had already arrived at the Triskelion. Making the trip out on a Saturday to have lunch with her and then planning to go hiking in the nearby state park, Matt had given a sigh of reservation at having his phone read the text to him and finding out she'd be tied up for the rest of the day most likely.

Rather than turn and head back, Matt had went ahead and grabbed a tray and gone through the line at the cafeteria. The food was better than most military bases, and pretty good for cafeteria food at that. After getting a load of the smells, Matt had gone for a sliced brisket sandwich with some steamed green beans and a slice of lemon meringue pie. Grabbing a glass of soda from a dispenser, he'd tapped his way over to the tables, aiming his way for one he knew to be empty. Upon his cane contacting a chair and reaching out to feel that's what it was, and the accompanying table, he'd asked aloud, "Is anyone sitting here? Mind if I sit?"

A helpful person at the next table had informed him the table was empty. "Thank you," Matt replied in his quiet, deep voice, and then took a seat at it and set his tray down before him.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson is currently entering in. The large sword she normally carries about with her is gone, an she has a few bruises over her face and her body. They're fading, though she does have the sense of someone who just lost a fight. Still, she seems in fairly good spirits over. She lgances over at Matt and doesn't bother with waving. She goes to jog over towards him and waits till she's over by him. "Hey, Matt, right?" Yes, she remembered but no sense in being rude - he'd probably not paid a lot of attention to her.

"I'm.. Associate of Daisy's, Mary Jane. Okay if I join you?" She would inquire. "You're just the only person here at the moment that I actually know." The duty shifts tended to change quite a bit. And seh didn't know him much more than 'Daisy's boyfriend' which had to count for a lot.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
The sound of the footsteps approaching quickly give Matt a brief hope maybe Daisy was teasing him, or her circumstances changed. Though he can tell the stride isn't hers before the feet reach him. The voice then is familiar, though he's trying to place it when Mary Jane Watson reintroduces herself.

"Yes, Matt," he confirms his own identity as he rises from his chair politely. "I think we ran into you one night," he says, confirming he remembers her. If not bringing up the exact circumstances given the night ended in some tragedy at Josie's.

"Yes, please," he says, motioning with a hand in the direction of the table and chairs. "I was coming in to meet Daisy, with plans to go hiking," he says, which also explains his shorts and shirt which are more appropriate for outdoors in the summer, "after we'd eaten. But she said she had a thing and wouldn't be able to make it. Figured I'd at least eat before I go," he says, waiting for MJ to get seated and then retaking his own seat.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "Yeah, met you quickly wtih Daisy. Would'nt necessarily call her a friend so please don't treat me like one. And she's very on call. Part of the job." A thing when you were with SHIELD. "She's one of the best so she's always needed. Folks knwo that she'll get the job done and get it done well. One of the hard things - but means that she helps make a big difference." Daisy's the one that brought her into SHIELD, and she's seen how well that the girl can fight.

"That must be interesting. I'm sure that she runs you ragged." Matt seems in pretty godo shape but she kind of doubts he's anywhere near as good as Daisy as she goes to sit down. "So where you going to go? Well, where you planning on it? She might get done quick and you can head out. Lot of places to go in Westchester."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt feels for his food, then turns his plate as if positioning things where he'll be expecting them to be so he can find them easier. The glass is felt for and moved over to the right spot as well. Normal blind person kind of stuff.

"We were going to go to Rockefeller State Preserve," Matt answers to Mary Jane. "Though hiking on trails is something that's not really suited for me by myself. Too easy to wander off the trail in an area there just isn't a lot of vegetation growing to define the path for me," he explains. "So I'll probably head back to the city. Maybe stop by my partner's place - partner in my law practice that is - and listen to the Mets game with him tonight.

Matt takes a bite of his sandwich. "I heard that the best day to be here is on Meat Sub day. Apparently the chef has a way with them or something?"

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would nod, "I haven't been there before but I've heard it's lovely. Lot of places that I really should go that I've never been to. Oh well, guess I'm more of a city girl." She would say that with total relaxation. "Guess that makes me weird, thinking nature over in the city is normal and having a weird time when it's actually really outside."

Sonja makes fun of her all the time on that an dit's the source of an ongoing bounce back and forth. "Yes, the chef is really, really talented. You can ask Daisy when exactly he's on duty. You know the menu rotation here better than you do. And I have nothing else going on. I'm game for that walk if you want someone to go with you and Daisy's not going to threaten the two ofus over it."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt's lightly whiskered chin gives a little nod as Mary Jane proclaims herself a city girl. "I understand how you feel. Have lived in Hell's Kitchen most all of my life. Even college was just over at Columbia, so still in the city," he tells her. "Plus I lost my sight when I was a kid so my experiences out in nature were even more limited," he says.

He gives a grateful smile at the offer. "I don't know that she'd mind. I'll text her and let her know though. We've been out there a couple of times," he says, referring to the park.

Matt gets out his phone and dictates a quick message to Daisy, that he ran into her friend Mary Jane who offered to take him on the hiking trails. After he puts the phone down, and it chimes soon after with a message from Daisy that he plays aloud. "Great, hope you both have fun!" it reads.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would nod and smile, "Yeah. Moved around a lot and only been in the City.." The way she spoke it meant New York.. "For a few years. Was staying with my Aunt and sort of doing my own thing now with job stuff. But always did end up staying in them for awhile." Or just a few months at a time with how often her parents moved about. SHe manages to keep chipper over on that even as she eases over where normally would be a hit of roughness in her voice. Part of her life that she'd moved on from. Even if never been quite fully accepting of.

But it was the past, and she had a lot more pressing things to deal wiht than family matters. "Well, tell her thanks and that we both say hi." She would go to stretch out. "In lieu of it not being meatball day, I'm going to just get some spaghetti and meatballs if you're not in a hurry before we head out to get some walking in."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock has only started to touch his own food. "Sure, go ahead and grab something. Don't want to be out on the trails hungry," he replies to Mary Jane Watson. "Not in any sort of rush," he confirms, giving a soft smile over in her direction.

Another bite of the sliced brisket is taken. It's cooked fairly well, and the bbq sauce on it is nice. Then Matt tries the green beans. They have a little pepper and some bacon seasoning them. Not the best of ingredients, but it is a meal that lacks the kind of preservatives and things that distract Matt's overpowered sense of taste.

"And I promise I won't ask too much about work. I understand the occupational hazard of it," he adds in a way that is light-hearted even if his tone stays pretty constant and measured. He begins dictating the message back to Daisy.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would go to quickly order her food and drink some water. "Work is work. She's good at saying what's good to talk on with it. She's th eone that got me into this job so I appreciate it. She's a good person and I'm glad that she was there for me when I needed soeone to give me a hand and to help show me about when some things were tough going."

That's all said very diplomatically, but appreciatively. She has her own share of issues - and Daisy having given her an outlet for them has helped her come to terms wiht them. And Sonja respects her as a canny, tricky fighter and a very skilled one. Which means that she's fairly open to being taught. Which makes a big deal for MJ and amkes things easier for her. "Yeah. So you're in Hell's Kitchen? It's a rough neighborhood. But that has a lot of history and a lot of people who care for it."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock eats slowly while Mary Jane is gone, pacing himself so she can eat at an unhurried pace herself and he'll maybe finish about the same time as her. He rises when he hears her return, before taking his seat again.

"She is a good person. One of the best," he confirms in a voice whose tone actually changes a bit in the expression of pride. "I hadn't realize that, that she brought you in. She only can talk about so much, of course. So did you know each other before SHIELD? Or she met you somewhere along the way?"? Matt inquires before taking another slow bite, savoring the smoky flavor of the brisket.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson wouldn't bother shaking her head - she knew enough on body language cues that it wouldn't be picked up. She takes her time as her food arrives - and with it a large order of breadsticks which she goes to dig into. "These are really good, help yourself."

"She did. Not quite sure what seh saw in me at the time.." Well, as a model running about dealing with secrets - other people's ones. "Kind of ran into her when out and about and she helped me figure a few things out and brought me in. When things were really weird for me and was kind of getting caught up in them. HEr and May."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
Matt Murdock enlists Mary Jane's aid in transferring one of the breadsticks to his plate after he inquires what they are. "Thank you," he says, finding it on his plate and then nibbling on it while they talk.

"Sounds a bit like how Daisy joined up herself. So I can see her doing that for someone else. We knew each other as kids, were in the same orphanage," he explains to Mary Jane. And hoping that he's not sharing anything Daisy won't want, though it's seemed to be pretty common enough knowledge among those SHIELDies that Matt has met.

Between bites he asks, "And has the work been rewarding for you, since you joined?" he asks.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would smile, "Well, only been in it like.. Two, maybe three years? Most of thsoe were in training. Just kind off only been allowed to go out in the field without it being a kid gloves thing like this year." Her counting on her fingers.

"Still just a rookie, so they tend to give me the real easy stuff. But, everyone starts down there. And Daisy hasn't mentioned about how she joined up. Not sure I'm allowed to know it, it being classified." She would deadpan. "I'll take anything I can use to tease her over."

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"I'm not sure the details," he confirms as to whether it might be something classified or not. "Oh I should probably be cautious given she knows as much about me as I do about her," he says with a quiet chuckle as he tries to dredge up something from their past.

Matt seems to get a thought after just a few seconds though. "She was a huge Spice Girls fan. I mean HUUUUUGE," Matt says, exaggerating the word to show just how big of a fan she was. "She'd wear clothing that a couple of them might wear," Matt recalls fondly. "And we'd catch her singing their songs and doing the dance moves," he says, his grin growing a bit.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
Mary Jane Watson would grin, "Well, I'm sure that there's gotta be something.. I mean, she has plenty of gossip on me, the least I can do is have some revenge." She would steeple her fingers together over playfully and consider. "Oooh. So I can just greet her next time I see her in passing with.."

Mayr Jane would search her memories. "All the girls say hey baby.. And then I'm sure I'll have her total attention. And at least it's not the macarena." She would giggle madly.

Matthew Murdock has posed:
"Or maybe put up a bunch of Spice Girls pictures in her locker," Matt agrees. "Just don't tell her it came from me. I mean, I'm sure she'll blame me for it anyway, especially after knowing we talked," he says, shrugging. You can only keep so much from a SHIELD agent after all!

Matt finishes up his food, wiping his fingers and lips with a napkin. "Nice day for hiking," he tells her. "Not too hot, little bit of a breeze. Hopefully the scenery is nice too. Though I won't be able to say on that, of course," he says, a finger lightly touching to his dark glasses.

Mary Jane Watson has posed:
There's a laugh, "If I do that, then she'll kill me in ways that no one will ever find my body. She's creative that way. but thanks. I can definitely work with this. Thank you for lunch and for a way to get out of the base this afternoon. Just if I get interrupted by work I hope you odn't mind. I'm nowhere near as popular as she is so I thinkw e'll be okay. And let's get going."
