Debriefing the Cyber-Doctor
Date of Scene: 18 June 2023
Location: Interview Room: Triskelion
Synopsis: The extracted deep cover agent from Intergang is debried by Nick Fury and Doctor Banner. Intergang has antimatter and they're charged with tracking it down.
Cast of Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Bruce Banner, Nick Fury

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Three hours after the extraction operation for Doctor Necker from the hands of Intergang, she's in the secure medbay suffering from minor broken bones and bruises, and a concussion that was deemed safely treatable. So in the medical bed in a secure wing, she's just coming to. She's a redhead with cropped short hair, wearing a lab coat that had been marked with the symbol of Intergang's R&D.

Bruce Banner has posed:
In a lab coat, Bruce stands slightly back, engrossed in reading some paperwork. Preferring the diagnosis and analysis over engaging with people, he wears a somber expression as he silently examines the documents. His gaze shifts up to the patient, conveying a tinge of sadness in his eyes. While he remains quiet, Bruce understands that this is other doctors domain, and he is here primarily to provide support if needed. He yearns to offer more assistance, but he acknowledges that the attending doctors are competent, and it would be unwise to interfere with their expertise in their respective fields.

For now, Bruce stands alone, not having an anchor, his connection to the rest of the individuals present. While he is adept at navigating interactions with medical professionals, dealing with new faces has always been a challenge for Banner. Therefore, aside from participating when necessary, he occupies himself by fidgeting with his ID badge, discreetly returning the papers he had read to their proper place, hoping not to draw any unnecessary attention.

Nick Fury has posed:
Director Fury's read all the reports. Not only has he read what they say, he's smart enough to read exactly what they //don't// say. The extraction team were made up of some of his finest agents, all experts. Pictures, intel and information were gleaned, studied and reported.

Never let it be said that Fury doesn't actually read submitted after-mission briefs. He reads every. Last. Word. Not only that? Be prepared for a pop quiz afterwards.

The man dressed in black fatigues with a holstered pistol strapped to his leg is outside the Medbay, deep in conversation with one of the doctors that had been assigned the case. That one eye is unswervingly (and unnervingly?) attentive to the medico as he receives the most recent update on the doctor within, and when completed, he nods once, presses his lips together and looks back at the door that leads in. Dr Banner does gain his notice, and turning to the man, his brows rise in prelude to the question that follows,

"Did you happen to look at the extrication notes, Dr. Banner?" He'll be overlooking the HULK thing at Avengers Day the previous evening.. at least for now. "Did you see anything that looked as if it requires more of our attention?"

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
The woman goes to blearily wake up, "Ugh.. Director Fury.. Doctor Banner.. I was always amazed by your work on gamma radiation particles. I always did wonder where did the significant increase in mass come from? Was it extra-dimensional in nature? Absorbption from molecules in the air? Where exactly it spontaneously manifested seems to violate that energy forms the same amount of matter, and cannot be destroyed or created.." She goes to rub over at her temples, bruises over her face.

Correcting herself, "Forgive me, this isn't the time for pleasantries nor for tangents on sharing research. Ah.. I have some bad news, Director Fury. Unrelated to Intergang's xenoterrestrial cybernetics, which are pathetic."

Bruce Banner has posed:
Banner lets out a soft sigh and directs his attention back to the Director, nodding quietly in understanding. His gaze shifts back to the patient, and he approaches her with a gentle smile, trying to provide reassurance. He responds to her with a slight chuckle, "Well, I guess you can blame it on water weight." The attempt at a lighthearted joke is meant to alleviate some of the tension in the room.

Moving closer, Banner carefully examines her eyes and checks her temperature, making sure not to cause any discomfort. He remains mindful of her well-being as she continues to speak. Looking down at her, he adds in a low, reassuring voice, "Please disregard my presence, Miss. I'm here to ensure we can get you back on your feet as soon as possible."

Aware of the importance of her conversation with the Director, he discreetly takes notes while gently holding her wrist, counting her pulse silently. Banner understands the value of physically assessing certain aspects rather than relying solely on machines, particularly in moments like these.

Nick Fury has posed:
The Director pushes the door to the room open with a flat hand once the pleasantries outside are done. Quick chat, information gained, now it's show time. The weary, injured voice of the newly rescued reaches Fury's ears, and there's a smile that stretches those pressed, thin lips, but it stops there; it doesn't go any higher than that. "If you've ever read his file, Dr. Necker, he's never played by anyone's rules. Not even God's." Is that supposed to be a joke? Probably.

Nick does wait for the vitals to be taken, read and analyzed, and his hands find their way behind his back. Brows rise, and there is something of a theatrical 'oh?' expression that plays on his face. "I usually expect bad news when I walk in a room. Makes it nicer when I'm wrong." There's a theatric pause before he finishes, "Sadly, I'm rarely wrong."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Doctor Necker would laugh, "We're in a world full of gods, even the aliens have them. So what is the difference when man plays the same game? Do forgive me, this si a tangent better suited for philosophy than physics." She would make herself focus for just a moment - there's no particularly severe injuries - just a concussion which will heal quickly with basic treatment, nothing else beyond some heavy bruises and minor broken bones which have already been tended to.

"Intergang has.. Gotten their hands on off-planet technology which they can use to cost effectively generate large amounts of antimatter. Instead of requiring something from Doctor Richards or several trillion dollars.. They appear to be able to do it on the budget of a worldwide criminal conglomerate. They.. Have at least a hundred grams already."

Bruce Banner has posed:
Quietly, Banner jots down a few notes, his attention shifting to the Director. "She is very fortunate, but I can see signs of overwork. Once she has had some rest, I recommend a thorough physical examination to ensure we haven't missed anything," he states, looking at Fury with a slight frown. "Do all your personnel push themselves to this extent?" Banner doesn't place blame on Fury, understanding the drive that can push individuals to neglect their own well-being. He shrugs lightly and turns his focus back to the patient.

Letting out a sigh, Banner continues writing down his observations. He appears slightly surprised as he mutters to himself, "I'm amazed that kind of technology is still out there, untouched." Given its potential value, he would have expected someone to attempt to acquire it by now.

Listening to the alarming amount of antimatter involved, Banner lets out a small whistle. "That is precisely why I tend to avoid working with you folks. You always seem to attract the most extraordinary situations," he remarks with a faint smile. He looks back at Fury and suggests, "To possess such quantities of antimatter, they would require a considerable array of resources. If you'd like, I can provide you with a list. However, I'm sure Dr. Necker is already well-versed in the subject matter."

Rubbing his chin thoughtfully, Banner contemplates the situation further. "But even if you address the immediate threat, the source of the problem may still persist," he points out, emphasizing the importance of identifying and resolving the root cause of the issue.

Nick Fury has posed:
"Because it's not natural." The Director is neck deep in gods, in alien beings that have purported to have been gods, aliens that simply have powers that would put them on par with gods.. and he still holds to that 'right vs wrong', 'man vs god', and everything has a place. It's probably what has kept him on his even keel this long. "And yes, yes they do. I have a dedicated group."

A hand waves in front of him to gesture pushing 'all that' away and comes in to focus on that main 'not good news' bit. Fury lowers his chin briefly, his brows still upwards, and with the slightest hint of a tilt of his head, he responds, "Say what?"

When Dr Banner chimes in on that whole 'not good'ness, adding his own observation, Nick looks to the man and back to the doctor on the bed. "There's gotta be some tell as to where they're storing it. I mean, you can't just stick something like that in your pocket and hope you don't get frisked." Huh. "So, thoughts on it? How do we go after the sellers? Put another plant in with the buyers and maybe that'll lead us to them?" And poor Dr Necker is out of the game for the time being, probably going to be consigned back to the labs.

But, his words do echo Bruce's concerns, though worded differently. "Even if we do take away their toys, someone'll give 'em more."

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
Doctor Necker would nod, "I don't know much about Intergang's.. Modus operandi or thier leadership, but a worldwide criminal cartel that's capable of making sufficient antimatter to vaporize a city.. And they seem to be able to, at least from the reports I read.. To believe they can dos o much more readily. If they care to share the technology.." Oh yes, that would be a bad thing.

"They just called it a Q-38. Or a P-38." That's the concussion making the exact 'letter' for the project hit her woozily.

"And I would want to sometime see how well some implants would work upon yourself, Doctor Banner. would they automatically shift when you change or merely be removed by the alteration? Could your meta-transition be programmed to assume that they were a part of your primary form to allow for pemranent synthesis?"

She would purse her lips, "The exact way of tracking it is.. Not my field of expertise. Nor is the exct matter or items they use for it. I just know they say they can produce it on earth rather than needing extra-planet deliveries."

Bruce Banner has posed:
Bruce takes a step back from his duties of ensuring Necker's well-being and finds a seat against the wall. He places his notepad on his lap, filled with seemingly random numbers and letters scribbled in his unique shorthand. He taps the notepad lightly as he gathers his thoughts and addresses the conversation at hand.

"I apologize if I come across as paranoid, but aren't you... well, you know, involved in every aspect of technology, including phones and machines?" Bruce chuckles awkwardly, aware of how his words may sound. He tries to clarify his point without offending Fury, "What I mean is, if there were a reason for this kind of surveillance, your position would make sense."

Bruce calmly gazes at Fury, contemplating the extent of SHIELD's influence, both on Earth and beyond. The Director's presence makes him particularly nervous, given the power and reach he possesses. Attempting to alleviate the tension, Bruce offers a strained smile and explains, "I apologize if my words were ill-judged. I simply meant that considering your position, it's reasonable to question the extent of surveillance."

Deciding it's best to shift the focus, Bruce redirects his attention to Necker. "I'm sorry for the digression. Regarding the symbols Q and P, Q doesn't align with any elements on the periodic table. While P typically represents phosphorus with an atomic number at highest of fifteen." He thinks aloud, processing the information.

"I'll need to conduct further research before I can provide any definitive answers. However, would it be acceptable if I discuss this matter with the Avengers?" Bruce turns to Fury and sighs, recognizing the gravity of the situation. "If this information were to be disseminated widely, we could potentially be facing much worse side effects then a large explosion."

Bruce's concern for the potential consequences weighs heavily on him as he considers the far-reaching implications. He awaits Fury's response, hoping that collaboration with the Avengers can help unravel the mystery and mitigate any potential threats.

Nick Fury has posed:
They're //making// it? "The requirements for having a lab to make that..." and he should know. He's seen the bills for his own state of the art labs and the lengths they go to hiding the energy footprints that are generated. Nick whistles softly, "Tracking it should be right up your alley, Dr Necker. It has to give off something that we can get a hold of, right?"

Nick looks between the two geniusses before he exhales in a chuffed breath, audible in its attempt at holding in some frustration. "If you two can't do it, I'll have to talk to Drs FitzSimmons. Or, worse yet, Stark to see if any of them can provide us with a tracker, with the two of you giving them the parameters and the residue that have to be scanned."

The Director of SHIELD seems to have decided on his path, and with that, it's all the time he can devote at the moment. As it is, he's pushed back a meeting with the Security Council, though to be honest, Nick enjoys pushing back on the Washington suits for work within SHIELD. Even they don't know what goes on within these hallowed halls, and if it is up to him (and it is), they'll never know.

"I know you won't let me down. And if you think it'd help, Dr Banner, yes. Talk with the Avengers. Maybe someone there will have an explanation and then some gadget for us." How's that for pressure? With that, the man in black fatigues turns to let himself out of the private room, out of medbay, and on to the next world crisis.

Natasha Romanoff has posed:
As he goes, Doctor Necker goes, "Wonderful man that we work for. But, in the meantime I do have some ideas for something we could try for you. Just call it some upgrades.." Upgrades for Hulk was definitely not something that Bruce likely wanted to get involve in. But she had a concussion and she needed her rest, which was enough for him to justify getting out of there before she could start holding him down to take his measurements for ideas.

So now SHIELD had a project, Banner had someone crazy enough to want to install things on him without anysort of concern for her own well being.. Oh yes, definitely going to be weird.
