Cast of Characters: Mercy Thompson, Monet St. Croix

Mercy Thompson has posed:
With all the heat that comes with summer, Mercy has been rather busy. Sadly it has all been AC and radiator fixing on cars. She's gotten so used to the smell of cars she needed a break from it. Sure she still trains but she needed something away from home and didn't have the means to just run off into nature. So that's why she cam here. She's in some ratty old jeans with rips, an old tee shirt that has a canine howling at a moon and pulls a small wagon behind her. In it is some basic gardening supplies and a store bought elevated planter that she hopes to set up. Just to smell earth, plants, and be outside. She likes this place because it is calmer and the women here are pretty damn cool. They don't overly hassle you as a rule.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix does not spend much time over at the Embassy unless she is training with the Amazons or reading in the library. She has spent precious litlte time over in the arts center, and this will be one of the few times in the garden if any. Tha'ts likely as some 'encouragement' from one of the senior Amazons on going out and about. She keeps a neutral expression over while glancing over at Mercy and entering in. "Ah, greetings. Getting into the dirt?"

Mercy Thompson has posed:
She recognizes the woman, by scent as much as sight, but doesn't remember her name exactly. "Yeah. I just needed a little less city and couldn't get away. I don't have a great green thumb but figured I could like set this up somewhere in the sun and nobody would mind too much." Not that if they did it stop her.... likely. "You want to join? I got some thyme, basil, rosemary, and some other stuff. Should smell fairly nice." Since she hasn't started her hands are as clean as they usually get. "Name's Mercy."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would nod, "Very well. I don't mind the city. But I can sympathize with it being overwhelming at times." She would float over and then cross her legs, sitting beside Mercy but not touching the plants. "Monet St. Croix." For once not giving her full name and emphasis on it

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Nice to meet you Monet." She offers a hand to shake in greeting but if it isn't taken she doesn't look offended. She starts to move for the planter box and see about setting it up, the thing is made of cedar wood so that alone has some nice smells, and should help with bugs. Maybe? That's what the garden center person said. "Normally I'm fine with it. But I get twitchy if I stay too urban and busy too long. I had a lot of work on my hands and just hoping I an se this to keep me going until I can get a proper vacation away." She looks a bit wistful around the area. "Been a bit since I had a good run and hunt." Glancing to Monet, "you hunt at all, Monet?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shake her head over Mercy, "A pleasure to make your acquaintance." She would take a moment over to evaluate.. THen move to shake the hand moreso automatically than anything else. "I find the city to be charming, they are centers of culture and society. But I understand that they can be a bit much and there is much to be said on the outdoors. And I do not." Hunt.

Mercy Thompson has posed:
Mercy nods her head and says, "I grew up about as far from anything called a 'city' as you can get in this country. I love people and cities, most times." She crouches down to work, talking as she does so. The box steadily being assembled. "I really should ask some of the women here where they go for their R and R but I have a pretty good idea."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would go to fold her hands together, "I believe that the majority of them do not leave the Embassy for any events where they are not required for something formal." She would offer helpfully. "I'm sure that they would appreciate help with general maintenance."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"That's usually my day job," laughs Mercy as she hefts the box and makes sure it doesn't wobble or anything. Seemingly satisfied she then goes to the bags of soil to start filling it up. "I most often just come here to train or sometimes to tune up the rare car. Someone keeps borrowing Diana's and it needs the help." Mercy doesn't bother with gloves, just using her hands to spread the soil all around as she steadily works three bags into the box.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would glance at Mercy, "I was unaware that the Princess had a car. I presume that it's something that she was given as a gift and thus appreciates, but tends to never use at all or tend to, and thus it's current state is questionable, and it spends most of it's time to the side when you're not workign on it?"

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"I got the impression someone borrowed it, and she clearly does drive it. I guess you can't always fly places. Especially if keeping a lower profile." Mercy shrugs as she glances over at the possibly still hovering Monet. "Flight seems... odd to me. Then again I know my views on the world are far from anyone's definition of 'normal.'" That's just fine with her anyway! The soil is all in and she starts to pat it down a bit and reaches for a hand trowel. "The origin of the kunai knife. Did you know that?"

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Monet St. Croix would shrug, "I have not ever believed that the Princess prefers to keep a low profile, but I am far from familiar with her. you know her far better than I do. I have spent little time with her when she is not having to be engaged in her formal duties." She would glance at Mercy, "I do not believe I am familiar with hte origin, please do elaborate."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"I have had a few conversations with her. I would hardly say that I 'know her' though. Most people don't like me around 'formal' stuff anyway. I'm not so great for that environment." She starts to get the plants out and uses the trowel to see about planting them, checking the depth and all that. "Well I studied history in collage. But back in the days of feudal Japan only Samurai were allowed to carry weapons. Anyone else that was not them, or in their direct employ would be killed for having a weapon. So when peasants were trying to plan uprisings they needed weapons. That's where things like nunchaku came from too. That was a tool for threshing wheat initially. Just is also good at threshing skulls."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
That would get a nod, "Yes, and something that the nobility could hardly take away from the peasants now. Not if they wanted to kill their own chances of growing crops. And no one would particularly notice a peasant with something for farmwork either."

Mercy Thompson has posed:
"Exactly. I always enjoy that kind of thinking." It doesn't take long for Mercy to plant all the plants. There's only about eight of them that safely fit into the planter. She starts to clean up her little projects save for a large watering can she has. "Well I need to find a hose or a sink and drown these babies in water. Thanks for keeping me company, Monet. Don't be a stranger!" Mercy gives a friendly wave as she walks off to the where she hopes will be some water to fill up on.
