Some fixing needed
Date of Scene: 02 July 2023
Location: The First Aid Kit
Synopsis: Danny calls Phoebe for help after he was injured in a previous scene.
Cast of Characters: Daniel Ketch, Phoebe Beacon

Daniel Ketch has posed:
It has been a pretty bad week for one Danny Ketch, even for the low standards of a host of a spirit of vengeance. He got hit on the shoulder during an encounter with bizarre bubblegum robot thieves, and he has been in pain for a few days.

No medical insurance, of course, he relies in friends and allies for this kind of injury. But he is also stubborn and slow in asking for help.

But he can't work, and if he can't work, he can't pay the rent. So, he finally sent an email to Phoebe. He is not even sure if the girl is still part of the League or not. Hopefully she didn't move to Australia. Actually that would have been a smart move. Maybe -he- should move to Australia. But he is not that smart.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe, unfortunately, is not part of the League any longer. Inquiry within the League itself would result in some stuff about 'disrespect for mental consent using mind magic' and 'one of the founders threatened her with death if he ever thought she'd hurt one of their family'.

So the email went to a monitored email address, which resulted in the girl having not moved to Australia, but the entire stupid Curio building she lived in somehow ended up in Gotham City.

    Weirder stuff has happened.

But she was happy to help Daniel, regardless of location, and in fact offered to come out to meet him, but the Curio's own mini-hospital-in-a-closet-space was also open. The hospital-smelling, light-magic-feeling, stark white and very disinfectant-laced space was set up for all medical needs.

... and weirdly had just a whiff of burning cities in it.

    /Thanks Robbie/.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
That Robbie guy is bad news, if someone asked Danny. But it doesn't happen much because that is what most sensible people think about him, too. A Ghost Rider is a Ghost Rider, yeah? Flaming skull and motorcycle. Why do Johnny and Robbie feel 'wrong' to Danny is something that puzzles him.

But Phoebe is okay, regardless of... 'disrespect for mental consent'. They gotta be joking. Are they going to dare say that to the Ghost Rider every time he uses his Penance Stare? It is highly disrespectful! Probably not.

"You should have moved to Australia," he comments at seeing here in the mini-hospital. "Er... I mean, hello, nice to see you again," he corrects, giving the girl a lopsided grin.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe's setting up, she's got gauze and assorted materials and a couple large cups of coffee in travel cups.

"Hey, Danny! Long time, no see." Phoebe greets him, and she motions to the exam table. "Go ahead and take any upper layers off, and let's take a look at the injury." she greets him, and she slips on a pair of glasses, giving a smile.

"Australia's got too many spirits that I don't know anything about yet. Tried Kansas. Nothing ever happens in Kansas. But Nightwing, Red Robin, Zatanna and Megan all showed up to pull me back to Gotham. On account of the 'disappeared without a trace' thing." she states as she turns on the bright overhead exam ligght.

    "Coffee? Bottled water?"

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Yeah, coffee," mutters Daniel, pulling off his coat with a wince. The pullover takes more effort, he is trying not to move his right arm. "You need to look at it? Can't you, you know? Fix it with a spell?" He looks at the exam lights with the suspicious glance of someone that hates hospitals.

"Gotham? You should have stayed in Kansas, or anywhere else." General opinion of 98% of New Yorkers about Gotham. It is just a statistic, honest.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Everyone feels that way about Gotham. Including most of Gotham.

"I can, but I'm actually super curious regarding the differences between supernatural healing. I was kinda under the impression that people with the ability to become a Rider... kinda... healed themselves. I wanted to make sure it wasn't like, magic damage or continuous corrosion of spirit or something." Phoebe admits, and she offers one of the travel mugs to Danny. "But if you want I can just heal it while you drink coffee. Especially if there's any sort of internal bleeding or organ damage." she replies.

"But admittedly... most of my information's based on Reyes."

    She pauses a moment.

"On account that he's candid about it." another pause "... and I know he's different than you and Blaze. On account of his... uh... evil relative." she trails off again.

"What happened to you to get this injury?" she quickly forces a segue.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"A... thing," starts Danny. "A weird thing, made of putty or something, threw a pretty heavy statue to me. I didn't duck quickly enough." There are some bandages under the pullover, someone (clearly not Danny) made a good job bandaging the shoulder, but it was a few days ago.

"A friend said I might have a cracked collarbone," he admits, "but he is not a doctor, just knows some first aid. I don't heal super-fast, and I can't wait 'six to eight weeks' like he said."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Should have contacted me sooner. I literally exist for this stuff." Phoebe comments with a slight smile, looking at Danny with a wry smile.

"ANd yeah, generally six to eight's the guide if you don't have someone who can heal on your side. Uh... does... your hitchhiker have an issue or allergy to Light or Holy magic being used?"

    Phoebe pauses a moment.

"You're not going to like, catch on fire or give a group hallucination, are you?"

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"It didn't seem that bad," lies Danny. "I thought a few painkillers and a day or two off and I would be fine." Because, see, he is a tough guy from Brooklyn. But he is a tough guy without a healing factor.

As for her question about his uninvited partner, he shakes his head. "They have tried holy water. It does nothing. He has chased people into temples a couple times without any stress. I have not seen any flavor of magic bothering him. Not that I know all the varieties. Maybe an exorcism would work?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I think they take exception with people who try to remove them. I tried reading some of my ancestor's books, but either Ghost Riders don't make very many appearances in Egypt, or they were understood a different way." Phoebe replies, and she takes a deep breath, and reaches to put her hand against his chest.

And then another against the obviously hurting side.

"All right. So this may feel tingly, like cold water, or needles. As a head's up." she offers, and she rolls one shoulder, and begins to heal.

"Also probably depends on the exorcism. I can't use the Catholic rite, on account of punching the appellate in the face."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel frowns, considering the several unpleasant things the Rider could do if kicked out of his body. Starting with jumping on the exorcist's body. He is pretty sure the Rider wouldn't be banished to Hell. He is intensely anti-demon.

Cold water, which is fine given the weather the last few days. He sips from the coffee as he feels the pain recede. He should have called her sooner, but... pride. Also, he probably deserved a broken collarbone. "I think it is working," he says quietly.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Good. Because otherwise I'd be worried. On account that I can feel the injuries when we're like this." Phoebe replies with a slight smile. She lets her breath out.

"You know, the weird thing about this is I almost always get a... hankering? I guess? Like I really want certain foods after healing people. One of my friends, I want oreos. One of the Titans? Birthday cake flavored things. Just certain people give stronger cravings, the more they need to be healed. Think that's weird?" she asks conversationally.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Of course it is weird," confirms Daniel, "but what is not weird in this business?" Maybe she will get a craving for a shot of cheap Scotch after this. Or bad coffee. He is not sure he wants to know.

"As a kind of weirdness, that one looks pretty harmless," he adds. "I mean, sometimes after the Rider lets me out, I..." he pauses, "lets just say I hope for dreamless sleep." Drinking helps, too.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah. I had to get used to the nightmares after dealing with a lot of things. Had a bit of a Crisis of Faith and then put someone's guts back in their stomach when I was fifteen. Luckily your body tends to put things back where they belong... for the most part, when it comes to intestines." Phoebe comments.

Her hands are subtlely glowing against him, and are quite warm. Her fingertips have lines tracing along her veins back towards her hands.

"I remember one of the psychs I saw tried to put me on meds -- civilian side, I saw them, I mean -- but having a healing factor means that my body rejects the meds. Makes it tough. Also--" she raises her hands up, shaking them out slightly "Makes me *very* boring at college parties."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Well, yeah... I think many of us got into this too young and with no preparation," Daniel sighs. But he actually feels better. "And there is still little the regular doctors, politicians or science people can do to help us cope. They just live in another world."

So, he copes with alcohol and other bad habits, and Phoebe can't even use the first one. "Don't worry, drugs don't make people more fun, they just think they are," he offers with a brief smirk. "Ah, this magical healing is really working, it barely hurts now."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Good. The healing energy should remain in your body for about thirty minutes, but that means 'it's finishing up repairing your muscle fibres and reconnecting capillaries' and not 'you should immediately go get yourself impaled on someone's fence on a dare'." Phoebe states with a small smile.

"Yeah, they live in the world that we protect for them. I'd hate to see what the medical bills would be like if I didn't have healing powers. she states with a grim smile.

"So, how've you been doing? Hadn't seen you for a while. Not since I was dealing with --" she motions to her throat, where her choker collar hides three scars. "An' the Ringmaster stuff."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Daniel shrugs, "same as always," then he begins to unravel the bandages. They are too tight, painfully so, because the man that set them in place is a martial artist and he knows Daniel too well. Don't move, or else.

"I did some research on the Riders," he mentions. "Mostly past ones. I might be into something, some clue about Noble. Patience was going to help me, and she sent a request for information to some secret groups in the Catholic Church that deal with the supernatural. I don't know if it will help anything, but better knowing than not, uh?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe's eyebrows raise at that, and she pulls up a stool.

"If there's information to share, I'd like it. I know Robbie's case is unique --" she trails off and then she breathes out.

"Sorry, I know. He and I got real close over the last six months..." she fiddles with her hands a moment. "Better knowing until knowledge increaseth sorrow." the medic states wryly, and she gives a soft hum.

"If there's anything at all I can do, let me know. I'll double-check my books and see if my ancestors ran into anything like that -- but given most of the ones outside the village were demon-hunters themselves... don't know if they would have survived the encounter." she leans back, arm draping over the back of the stool's support. "Patience is good people. She's helped me out of a bind before. I'd be happy to repay the favor."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"I have heard people calling the Rider 'demon', but I don't believe he is," states Daniel, "but... I am not sure about Robbie and Johnny's 'partners'. What has Robbie told you?"

He reaches for his pullover, putting it on is much easier. He nods pleased. "Yes, Patience is great. She takes every crazy thing without blinking twice and enviable calm. Maybe that is what happens when one is trained for this life by competent people."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah. Patience is pretty great. I do envy how calmly she handles everything instead of the Duck approach --" Phoebe holds her hand up, and motions above it "Calm and placid above" she says, and then, giving a small grin, "panicking pedaling below."

And she takes a moment to process and organize her thoughts.

"Robbie was killed. He was offered a chance to get back at those who killed him, and he took it. Unfortunately, it wasn't a Spirit of Vengeance that made the offer." she explains, and she rubs the back of her head. "Which let me tell you, knowing your boyfriend's murderous inner voice is listening into your conversations and offering him 'helpful'" she finger-quotes Helpful "advice does put a damper on things." she raises her eyebrows, and gives a small shrug.

"But he told me what he knew."

Daniel Ketch has posed:
Someone had a choice, isn't that nice? Maybe not. "Who made him the offer? His powers and appearance is very similar to Noble's. Although sometimes it looks as if he is wearing a mask." Hard to say, since he is on fire.

"I wasn't asked... although maybe I did ask for help," he frowns. "No, the motorcycle was there, it had been there for ten, maybe fifteen years, waiting for me. It was built by my mother, who was also a host for the Ghost Rider."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I'm not sure if I should be telling all his information. I just know that now of the three Ghost Riders I know of, two who I have their phone numbers, apparently all three had different ways of becoming ghost riders." she draws one knee up, perching on her seat.

". . . though his car was originally his uncle's. And that's who he's got rattling about his head." she explains. She rubs the back of her head a moment, and shakes her head.

"Eli Morrow was a wizard and serial killer. I don't know how it shows up on any extrasensory you guys have as a whole -- but it grates against the back of my mind when he's active. Robbie feels like someone pouring ice water into my spinal column. But everyone's different." she shrugs.

Daniel Ketch has posed:
"Well, that is different..." murmurs Daniel. "It explains at least why Noble doesn't like him." And maybe why he creeps him too. "But why does he have the same powers than a Ghost Rider? Is Robbie in control? I am not in control at all. At most I get some dreams or... visions."

He sighs, checking his watch. "I need to go. I am going to actually ask the Care... uh, this guy that knows some things and gives me only cryptic hints. Sometimes I just want to kick his ass."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Phoebe gets very quiet. She looks over to Daniel, and she states, firmly: "Robbie has never lost control around me."

Whether or not she knows the actual answer?

"Hey, if you want someone who can try to out cryptic the cryptic to come along, I'm game sometime. I'd be happy to help.. and it's good for me too. Fresh air, get out of Gotham." she gives a bright grin, and gives a nod.

    "Don't be a stranger, KEtch."
