Talking Shop with Shazam and (Atom) Eve
Date of Scene: 07 July 2023
Location: Happy Harbor Beach
Synopsis: Eve and Miles run into Shazam at the beach
Cast of Characters: Billy Batson, Eve Wilkins, Miles Morales

Billy Batson has posed:
It's a bright new day and Shazam is drifting lazily over the beach near Happy Harbor, looking for crime, or a cat up a tree, or that ugly mo with the mohawk who shot at Marie. "If he's lucky, I'll find him, and not Mary. She has all my powers and is way less restrained. She one shot that kaiju thing the other night. Maybe I should find him and call Mary... he deserves it. Marie is the sweetest person I ever met. I mean, Mary can be sweet too but she's my sister. Therefore we annoy each other to show the love aaaaaaand I wish something would happen and take my mind off things."

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"Keep up!"

Atom Eve is laughing, and what's happening looks a lot like... training? Or maybe some sort of multi-platform aerial obstacle course?

There are a series of translucent pink platforms floating in the air above that remote section of beach, which happens to provide the perfect backdrop to some mid-day fun with Spider-Man.

Dressed in her pink costume, short pink cape fluttering in the sea breeze and whipping when she took flight, red hair fluttering around her shoulders, Atom Eve was making a real-time, real-life jumping game that she was using to compete with Miles. The goal? Get to the end first, even as new platforms appeared (at varying altitudes) and offsets.

Wherever 'the end' was, since they hadn't really hit it yet. They just kept racing down that length of the beach.

Eve had several advantages in this race. One, she could literally just fly, but she was actually running and using her 'flight' to power-jump her from one platform to the other. Two, /she/ was making the platforms, so she knew where they were going to be and when they were going to disappear in advance.

Despite BOTH of these advantages, Spidey out-paces her so easily it's barely a challenge for him. And even still, Eve taunts him, grinning wickedly as she does it. At least, until she spots Shazam floating by.

"Oh, hey!" Eve's panting by this point, slowing down to stand on a platform that doesn't disappear underneath her. She's pointing up to Shazam. "Don't you know that guy?"

Miles Morales has posed:
"I'm -"

THWIP!

"Beating-"

THWIP THWIP!

"You at this I think!"

Spider-Man, the one but not the only, was enjoying a fine obstacle course fun fun with Atom Eve. Deapite a stunning disadvantage - since Eve is creating the structures and knowing ahead of time where they are going to be, when, and in what shape, Spider-Man is giving her a run for her money with a combination of unholy athleticism, experience, and quick high-speed adaptation.

A laugh escapes the costumed hero, his entire body clothed in a black bodysuit with a red web-like pattern on the upper torso. A red spider emblem is on the chest and on the back, the one on the back being slightly larger and his mask protects his identity.

At one point Spidey jumps so high that he inverts, pats Eve on the head, and keeps going! "Tag! You're it!" And he's slingshotting through a narrow crevice between two obstacles to get past them! Thread the needle got a accurate definition today!

Thej his attention is caught and his eyes shift towards the flying figure of Shazam! "Oh yeah, we saw him at the Belly Burger. We should say hi?" Miles suggests, offering them both a moment to catch their breath.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam diverts to see what. is. going. on. Floaty pink things? New Spider-Man? Someone he is not sure of making like Mario or Luigi and looking more like Peach? He slows down and watches the proceedings, not wanting to intrude. He does a silent whoa at the athleticism displayed. Maybe Billy needs a sport? Besides running around with a backpack full of recording equipment. As far as exerting himself, he had felt muscle strain holding up the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue or Liberty. Racing his speedster friend caused mental strain to keep from reaching orbit, but just exerting yourself and having fun.

Okay training with Sunny was fun but he doubted even Spidey was up to playing volleyball with a steel wrecking ball. He waves and tries to look friendly.

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"SHOW OFF!" Eve shouts when Miles flips past her and pats her, but she was still smiling -- still trying to keep up.

The problem was, flat on the ground, she really was just 'a girl.' She didn't have super strength, super agility, super stamina, super balance, or super durability. She could /give/ herself some of those things if she put effort into rearranging the atoms, but it wasn't like she'd been bitten by a radioactive spider or anything.

Actually, she didn't know /how/ she had powers. She just.. did.

When Shazam slows down and offers that friendly wave, though, she gives one right back.

Eve didn't have any cool ability to change into an older version of herself or wear a head-to-toe costume, either. She didn't even have a mask. She kind of relied on the whole psychology thing. If you didn't expect to see a superhero at your school, you didn't see one. That doesn't really preclude any /other/ superheroes from recognizing her from being the awkward girl at the burger joint, though.

A couple of seconds later, the last remaining platform -- the one she and Miles are standing on -- drops out from under them unexpectedly, and for a moment they're in complete free-fall. Before they hit the sand, though, a pink sphere surrounds them and breaks their descent, allowing them to land softly in the sand.

Did it startle Miles? She hoped so, if the little grin on her lips is any indication.

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam makes a lunge for the two when the pink platform disappears. He had no idea how durable Eve was but Spidey might sprain something. Not like he could thwip a building out there. He comes up short when the bubble forms. Not like he was going all out. Very bad things happen to a human body caught by a Shazam at more than a few tens of meter per second. Physics was one of Billy's few A subjects.

"You guys are amazeballs! Hey Spidey, hi... Eve! I'll be darned!" He looks around and makes sure no one is around to overhear. Nope. "And there I was being all hero like to you the other day. I hope I wasn't too big a doofus. But you guys are incredible, with the gymnastics and the light constructs and the thwipping! You looked like you were having so much fun practicing! Holy Moley!"

Miles Morales has posed:
"Can't help it!"

Spider-Man gives her a little wave and no doubt he's smiling ear to ear behind that mask. Eve's been out of the game for a minute, but this is pretty much Miles's every day. Granted, the obstacles are actively trying to kill you...

And as Spider-Man lands on a platform, Eve seems agreeable to go say hi. In an extreme kind of way: The platform underneath them vanishes and...you ever watch Looney Tunes? Where something opens up underneath them and the body takes a second to realize how screwed they are before they fall?

Basically that.

"AAAHHHH!"

Miles screams at the sudden fall, though he positions himself better for the landing, which he does in a classic pose. "Whew...little warning next time red?" Spider-Man chuckles softly, standing up to give Shazam a little wave.

"Hey man. Big fan, Spider-Man." At the praise that they were both killing it, Spidey laughs. "Now you're just flattering!"

Eve Wilkins has posed:
"You deserved it," comes Eve's sassy reply to Miles, her bright green eyes still grinning at him. Absolutely /zero/ remorse.

Of course, the whole thing could have gone a lot worse if Shazam had splattered one of them trying to save them. Luckily, he was going slow enough it wasn't really an issue.

"Hey, thanks," she answers with a little laugh, her red hair still playing around her shoulders in the breeze. "No, you weren't a doofus. I don't really... do the whole hero thing, anymore. /You/ should be proud of it, though. I'm just putting Spidey through some paces. We used to do stuff like this back on Teen Team. Just practice, you know? Not that he really needs it."

Billy Batson has posed:
Shazam nods. "Practice is good. It's hard for me to get a good workout. The last one was a bunch of Brainiac drones trying to kill me! But... if you might ask, who do you do the light constructs? Are you a Mutant or Altered Human or witch? Heh. Let me point out two of my best friends are a Mutant and a witch. They're the coolest." His other buddy... is a pen at the moment. He leaves that part out. "I was granted these powers by a wizard as it happens. I'm hoping to save Supergirl from Kryptonite at some point." He adds a little wink.

Miles Morales has posed:
"Eh, probably."

Miles chuckles soft and low. There's no remorse in the mischief of those green eyes and though his own are obscured, they reflect the same cat and mouse playfulness.

His attention shifts to Shazam. "Thanks for not tackling us at like Mach-10." he chuckles softly. Though he turns to Eve as she talks about having done this with Teen Team in the past. "I think I would've been a member if we hung out in the same circle in the past."

He nudges Eve softly.

Then his eyes rest on Shazam. "...is a which an insult in this instance?" Mikes wonders aloud, before he ponders. "I think she's just genetically awesome." Miles sings Eve's praises. "...doesn't she have like an army of friends with the Titans?" He chuckles. "But hey, if you get lucky, you get lucky. I hear she's nice. I've always wanted to meet literally any of the Superman Gang."
