Date of Scene: 25 July 2023
Location: Interview Room: Triskelion
Synopsis: The heroes interrogated the weirdy and only got a little about 'The Many-Faced One'
Cast of Characters: Alexander Aaron, Daisy Johnson, Jessica Drew, Ares

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The securing of such a creature was no small endeavour.
After the ruckus at the bar and the capture of the shapeshifter that had sought the blood of John Aaron, SHIELD was able to bring the monstrosity back to the Triskelion. It took some aid form WAND for there were mystical properties that the assassin possessed as they had well seen during the fracas. Yet a properly utilized charm and strong enough agents were able to bring it back and place it in holding.
Which is where it was now.
And outside that room with its one-way mirror, in the room next door to it... were the people who were involved in its taking. One Alexander Aaron was leaning against the metal table that was beside that bank of cameras that all showed the creature in various sources of light. Infrared, thermographic, spectral. It presented a very interesting sideview that shifted and flowed, as if its temperature varied often.
"Alright, so current plan is I'll go in there. Talk to it. See what we can get out of it. What I need now is perhaps insight. Any thoughts or ideas people have about it. Since I haven't been able to discern anything. Except..." A tilt of his head is given to the side as he looks to the others, "It does feel fear."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"You know this was my day off, right Aaron?"

Daisy hadn't read the fine-print where it said SHIELD agents had no days off where it came to emergencies. And this one? Quite the emergency! Of course that she having been one of the agents responsible for the investigation meant she had to be present and that's what she was doing. With a large cup of coffee held with both hands.

*sip*

"Sounds good. Get your ear comm up." she says, getting her own on a ear too so they could communicate to the room while Alexander took the interview. As to the question about the creature itself she brings an image up on the holo display. "So far we haven't found anything in the SHIELD databases about this kind of creature but still looking. Might have to send some of these results to FitzSimmons to get a more proper evaluation. Yet if he was there as an assassin whoever it was that sent him wasn't aware of your father's heritage."

She looks over at Ares and then at Kelsey. "You may want to sit down for this, Mr Aaron and Ms. Greene."

Jessica Drew has posed:
It's next to impossible to think through the haze of magic laid on him. He wants to rip his captors into pieces and leave them to die, weltering in their blood, then find Ares. He deserves special treatment.

The metal restraints binding him to the table rattle when Arjun tests them again. The table under his hands is dented and slicked with black blood. Something, some magic that burns, has kept him from becoming a child small enough to slip out of them. Tusks bared he roars his frustration and pain. More blood sizzles and drips from wrists.

Ares has posed:
The other occupants of that room were John Aaron, the man who had been attacked, and his petite bodyguard, Kelsey Greene. It had been quite the eventful trip to the bar that had ended up with them here. Neither had really slept though Kelsey had perhaps caught a nap here or there in a chair, since obviously in this place John Aaron was safe.

She knew SHIELD was involved. She did not know this level of threat would've been used against her client. Thus she was glad to take a seat as she stared at the thing through the glass. At least she was not freaking out in a corner screaming while sucking her thumb in the fetal position. She was still handling herself professionally. Though the tension was there in her body language for the world to see.

"I cannot swear but I suspect it is a yaksha. A creature linked to the Indian pantheon." The rumbling sound of boulders down a cliff in essence is the deep voice of John Aaron. He looked from the creature to the two agents in the room. "Though I am not positive." Then he looked from one to the other, eyebrows going up as he added. "And I have done nothing to upset that Pantheon for millennia."

Kelsey's brows rose at that last word but she waited for the others to continue because, if she asked a single question? The other hundred or three would follow.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
Alexander nods as Daisy offers her insight, a slight smirk enough to address the fact that it was her day off. Then the mention of ear comm is given as he takes the small micro-filament device and slips it into the curve of his ear, letting it fade mostly from view. Imperceptible to the naked eye unless one knew what to look for.
He takes a look at the display screens, but when his father starts to speak he turns his attention over to the tall man. "A yaksha." He says, letting that roll around his thoughts. "I've not heard about those really." The young Olympian says simply, "Always avoided the Hindu crowd, not sure why. Love the food. Though they like to pick fights a lot." His eyebrows rise a little, since that's not always a drawback.
When Ares says he has done nothing to upset that Pantheon for a long time... his lip curves up and he says. "Most deities have a long memory. If you 'recall'..." His smirk widens a little at his own cleverness. "You told me that."
With that however, he starts to the door that leads to the 'airlock' which is really just a foyer for the other room. "Alright, wish me luck." He steps up to that door, grabbing one of the soda cans that had been left on the table for refreshment, and unless stopped, he moves on through. Then into the chamber proper.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Yakshas. That has Daisy quirking a brow and doing a quick query on the SHIELD database. Rather limited info, "We don't have much on them." she admits, "Though perhaps in WAND's archives.." she looks thoughtful about this, continuing to type at speed on the keyboard. Yep, she's clearly a keyboard warrior. A glance is then given to Alexander and offers him a sharp nod, "Alright, go ahead.."

But then they are talking about deities and pantheons. Not really a surprise for Daisy but she can notice it's a surprise for Kelsey, not really taking a master of empathy the woman's unease with all this, "Want me to get you a water?" she inquires with some sympathy to her tone. It was never easy to get that first impact of 'OH SHIT, I AM SO OVER MY HEAD RIGHT NOW'. Daisy had felt it in her bones before quite deeply!

The door keeping Arjun locked in hisses and then slowly parts open to allow Alexander to come in, letting the two come face to face once again.

Jessica Drew has posed:
Arjun's nostrils flare as the hermetic door unseals, bringing him the musky smell of human shot through with another scent. A scent that he encountered when his prey fought back. Familiar, something from long ago. His red eyes bulge from their sockets and he gnashes his tusks in warning before his face melts and transforms.

Ares looks up, hands folded in a pool of blood to smile at his son when he enters the room.

"So good you could make it."

Ares has posed:
"Do not use my words against me, boy," John mutters in a low growl before his son goes through that door into the adjoining room/hallway. That leaves the Olympian to look over at Daisy then Kelsey. Back to the agent as he adds, "They are rarely malevolent but this one seems particularly focused. I am unsure why."

And at the offer of some water, Kelsey blinks up at Daisy. A hint of relief on her face at some normalcy. "Could you make it a shot of whiskey?" Then a little half hearted laugh as she shook her head. "I know you can't. Water would be great. Thank you."

And that request for alcohol got a grin and a thump of approval on her back. "Whiskey indeed! For us all!"

There was a sarcastic murmur from the blonde, "So glad you approve."

Alexander Aaron has posed:
Into the room he walked. That blond guy who was at the bar who didn't mind his own business. The one that took part in its capture. The one that walked in and upon seeing the crazed tusked and bloodied creature that is Arjun then its skin flowing and melting so it becomes his father...
Takes a sip of his soda with the slightest audible slurp.
He walks further into the room to that metal table that is in front of the monstrosity though it now looks less monstrous. Albeit only slightly. He pulls his chair out as this one isn't welded to the floor. He sets the can of soda down, then sets himself down just as easily. His posture is slightly slouchy, a little too at ease. Those pale eyes meet the creature's. His lips part. "Thirsty?"
Arjun had hunted souls for what felt like ages, had taken lives and tormented its victims. It had known such a variety of flavors of fear. Yet there was nothing to sup from this one. No hint of unease. No glimpse of nerves. None of the small subtle tells that mortals give off.

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"Not from lack of trying..." Daisy murmurs at Kelsey's comment that she can't them whiskey. Blame it on Jenkins, that cockblocker. Everyone knows interrogations go better when there's whiskey present. Or when people need to confront certain truths.

Water it is though and Daisy goes to do just that, stepping out briefly to get a couple of water bottles, tossing one to Kelsey, then another to Aaron senior.

"Seems the rabbit is out of the hat now, Sir. Maybe it's time to open up about who you are." But then again she expects that will become clear enough when Alexander starts talking with the Yaksha.

Jessica Drew has posed:
Arjun sniffs deeply, relishing the scent of warm blood, the masculine odor of a young man with a faint overlay of cologne. He sniffs again. The two men from the bathroom share an affinity, a glimmer of magic that sings to the yaksha.

A slow smile spreads over Are's face, a simulacrum of warmth, showing perfect white teeth.

"Are you going to hold the cup and help me drink? I am thirsty but not for that. Why torment me?"

Ares has posed:
"Mmmm." That sound comes from John as he considers Daisy's suggestion. Then he glances over to Kelsey who looks at him with curiosity. But no fear. Even now, the woman is not going to let fear overwhelm her. It's impressive, especially to someone who respects a fighter.

"I figure there is something more going on, yeah. I mean a supernatural killer. Not unheard of but it's definitely something beyond the norm. You sure you're a union rep?"

"I am. A construction worker. Union Representative. Father to a strong son who I hope follows in my foosteps." Footsteps that have nothing to do with construction but he isn't elaborating for her to understand that. "And a bit more."

"More...what?"

Alexander Aaron has posed:
The young man sits opposite Arjun and watches.
He just watches for a time, giving that slow blink that would almost seem like a lizard contemplating its next meal. "I apologize if you feel you are being tormented. We're holding you in such a manner as we feel the countermeasures are as much for your safety as ours." He takes another sip of the soda and then slides it down the table to rest in front of the Yaksha.
"I am sure you understand why you're here. You aren't an American citizen so the rights we can extend to you are limited. You are also not on our list of sentient species encountered by our people, perhaps due to the obscure nature of your existence. Right now you've only commited some vandalism and assault. You've also been set up on a task that... is likely meant to have been your death. What do you know of your target?"
He sits up and leans forward on the table at the precisely right moment to emphasize the request in that last question.

Jessica Drew has posed:
Chain rattles when Ares attempts to lunge from his chair. The handcuffs bite deeply as he bats the can of soda away with a sweep of fingers sprouting claws. In a blink, his hands return to normal. Caramel colored liquid mixes with the black blood staining the table.

"Task," he sneers. "I'm no citizen of this upstart government, claiming freedom and justice for all. I will show you JUSTICE," his voice rises to a preternatural roar.

Then, Arjun/Ares leans forward to meet those pale eyes. The brown eyes liquid with unjust accusation and self-pity.

"My target will die. If not at my hands...then another's. Rest assured."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
"We need to figure out who hired him." Daisy speaks through comms while opening her own bottle of water to take a good drink from it. Yea, if it was whiskey it would be a lot better. "Try to lead them there. He seems angry enough that it may slip."

Brown gaze then trails towards both Kelsey and Ares. Her eyes roll just so. "A bit more?" she presses her lips together, nearly having to bite them so as to not say something that could anger a God. "Bit of an understatement there." not that it's her place to share.

Another drink of her water and her attention goes back to the dark mirror, she continuing to watch the interrogation attentively.

Ares has posed:
At the murmur from Daisey, John glanced her way. Then he let out a slight sigh and looked over at Kelsey. "More than human."

Kelsey took the bottle of water with a murmured thank-you to Daisy. But her eyes remained on the man she knew as John Aaron. "Okay. That makes sense if you have superhuman assassins after you. But that also means they likely know you are superhuman to do so, rather than sending a human. Not definitive but it sort of makes sense. So are you an alien? Had an accident with a radioactive rugby ball? Mad scientist lab?" It was that sort of world. Any of the above could be true.

John let out a scoffing sound but there was amusement there as well. "Rugby ball. I must remember that one." For what? Probably nothing good. Though thankfully he wasn't a god of mischief. Though could rugby be considered a battle of sorts?

"I am Ares. God of War."

And as that hung in the air, Kelsey stared at him. For long moments. But the laugh never came from the guy. She looked to Daisy to see if she was in on the joke cause this had to be a joke, right? Right?! Was a bit more of the white of her eyes showing now?

Alexander Aaron has posed:
    "That's possible, I imagine."
Again that calm tone as Alexander responds, his eyes unwavering as he looks deep into the other before him, feeling that subtle ebb and flow of what fear and anxiety might flow through the creature, navigating it in those silent moments between the sparse words shared between them. His jaw tightens a little ever so briefly.
Then he says, "So you are a martyr, willing to put down your life for your master merely to send a message. That is impressive loyalty." Alexander straightens in his seat.
"They must be an individual worthy of such esteem. I applaud your service." Those pale hazel eyes drift to where the can of soda lies in a pool of liquid, though a large amount of it spattered on the wall.
He looks back in turn, "Though were you supposed to do anything else beside just kill your target? This seems... almost personal in some way."

Jessica Drew has posed:
Are's brown eyes redden into a glare for an instant and he leans back feigning calm he does not feel. A tide of memory sweeps him from the room. Once, long ago, chariots clashed in a battle on a dusty plain and his love died with an arrow through her throat. The din of battle blots out the smooth young man's voice.

"Something else?" He sputters coming back to himself. "Yes. Eat him after my master is done with him. My reward."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
Clearly something personal going on here. It has Daisy arching a brow. Considering it... While also listening to Ares trying to explain who he is. And just going all in like he does? Very typical and what she expected.

Daisy looks over her shoulder, seeing that Kelsey and glancing her way for confirmation. A barely perceptible nod is given in return, "Yea, I know. It's a lot to take all of a sudden. But don't forget we also have others here that most consider Gods. Like Thor." the Agent trying to ease the blow. Even if she knows the pantheons aren't exactly the same, nor is their magnitude!

Ares has posed:
"Yeah, but I thought Thor was some guy who just thought he was Thor, not /actually/ a Norse god," Kelsey admitted in a soft voice as she eyed John again.

And he seemed to find those words amusing but then that smile faded as something in the room caught his attention. He walked closer to the glass, peering at the creature within. "Though I am likely delicious, I feel there is more to this than his usual hunger."

Kelsey uncapped her water bottle and took a sip. Bonus points for not having shaking hands when doing so. Gods. And Alexander was his son. So he too was a god. Which left...

"Are you a god too?" asked of Daisy.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
"Well. We are operating from a position of weakness at the moment. Our information is thin. And you have failed your master, and you will be eating no one. You most likely will suffer. For that failure." The way Alexander speaks, there is a precision to it, the words delivered steadily. Then the last three given at a slightly increased pace. He watches the while, looking at the monster's features.
Then there's the slightest hint of silver in the youth's eyes. A very faint glimmer of arcane fire in those suddenly more pale irises. Even as Alexander continues to speak in that calm steady tone. "Your master is not a being of patience, is he?"
Slowly the world around the Yaksha seems to grow into shadow. Slowly the corners lose their definition as if they were too too far out of view. The room itself becomes a faded thing, as behind Alexander the roil and surge of an apparition grows. A many faceted thing of such a multitude of shapes that it menaces first with claw, then talon, then blade. It rises up like a storm of darkness even as it leans forward, growing taller, and taller still, and when it reaches the ceiling it spreads out its limbs like the snap of black wings, broadening as if it was about to leap upon the Yaksha and extract from it the price of its failure.
Yet to those observing in the other room, it is just Alexander speaking softly to the Yaksha, his eyes having that subtle slight glow.

Jessica Drew has posed:
The dust of long-ago battle clogs Arjun's nostril - his chest heaving as he tries to breath. The room expands to admit the King of all shapeshifters and the memory of unending agony. Are's skin darkens, the brown eyes bulging as Arjun's control slips and the walls open into a dimension of remembered pain and fear. It's wrong. All wrong. -He- is the fear-bringer who preys on the weak in the name of his Master. Every drop of blood erases the torment that followed the death of his beloved. The torture was only a small part of his pain.

His Master has never shown him mercy. No mistake goes unpunished in his servitude.

"He promised me. He promised me. The many-faced promised to release me if I wiped this man from existence and drank his blood."

Daisy Johnson has posed:
The question whether Daisy is a God or not gets a faint, amused grin out of the Agent. She clears her throat and replies. "Well ...." a pause, ".. I have been called an hacking Goddess in some circles." probably the darkweb circles. "But no, not the kind of Gods they are."

"And no, Thor is the real deal actually. Norse God and all that. Do you think the Avengers would just take some guy who thought he was a God?" well, they most likely would. Humor is always good to defuse some tension. And those truth bombs that Ares is dropping.

Yet as the interrogation continues she looks ahead to the mirrors. "Many-faced?" she looks over, "Does that ring a bell?" she asks of Ares.

Ares has posed:
"Oh that's good." Because if Daisy had been a god too, Kelsey was about to nope right out of the room. In truth, she was hanging on by a thread here. But seeing that glow from the eyes of the young agent in the other room had her frowning slightly. She sipped her water, a nervous gesture.

At the question from Daisy, the entity that goes by John Aaron for now shakes his head negatively. "Too many possibilities. There are creatures with many faces, deities from multiple pantheons. We would need more from the vile beast. Though my curiosity for the hatred it holds toward me is piqued. I do not recall offending a yaksha in my lifetime." And that was saying something.

Alexander Aaron has posed:
Alexander watches, listens, his head turning slightly to the side. He frowns as he is aware of the imagery that surges through the Yaksha's mind, as he sees the many fears that the creature holds for this master. Though it gives him little to work with, despite the amazing aspects it presents. He watches and absorbs it all while the creature seems to go through this agony and torment anew.
Then his expression sours and the light fades. He presses a hand to the table and then pushes himself to his feet. He turns and starts toward the door, leaving nothing to be said to the Yaksha, and offering no insight. Up to the door he moves. It opens, then closes with that whisper of shifting air.
A moment later and Alexander rejoins the others. "He's been tormented, shaped I'd say. For not this purpose alone, but for the role of assassin. Though I get the feeling he might have been aimed to be disposed of this way." A glance is given toward Ares.
"To send a message." He takes a deep breath. "So we have... other unknown players on the board."
