Cast of Characters: Yaretzi Acama, Mark Grayson

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
The Acama family went out to dinner, this evening, at one of their favorite local-area restaurants: Rosita's Kitchen. It's a *tiny* place, with seating for all of about thirty, at most, and when it's lunch time or dinner time, it's usually packed -- which is why the Acama family was here early, ahead of the dinnertime rush. For her part, Yaretzi's happily having dinner with Mami and Papi, and enjoying one of her favorite dishes: fideo! The family is chatting, even as the place is actually filling up with the dinner rush of customers, and having a good time on their evening out.

Mark Grayson has posed:
When last they met, Golden Eagle had suggested Rosita's to Invincible. It had been a couple of days and he wanted to follow up with the her, first to make sure that everything was okay. And the other was to talkk about some possible ideas. With no contact information and only Rosita's to go off of, the hero is suited up in blue and yellow as he flies in from the skies above Harlem. Landing on the ground -- without needing to superhero pose in the process, there are murmurs from the people on the street as he makes his way into the restaurant and looks around.

His eyes lift to look over the menu and he frowns to himself. "You know, I thought she said this was an ice cream place." he comments dryly as he is approached by the hostess. "This is going to sound like a strange question...." comes Mark's question. "...but have you seen a young woman, about my age. Latina, goes by Golden Eagle, very..." and he doesn't say what he was about to say, his cheeks darkening a shade.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
The Acama family, pretty well already done with their meal all stare wide-eyed at the superhero who's come in, asking for the local heroine -- although one set of wide eyes is widened for slightly different reasons than her parent's eyes. Yaretzi's cheeks flush a bit when it's obvious he was gonna say something complimentary about Golden Eagle... but then her father, along with other parents in the place, is putting money on the table to cover their tab and hurrying his family OUT of the place. While Invincible might be known as a -hero-, when there's a hero around, it does attractive villains often enough that no one wants to be around when/if that happens.

The restaurant staff, though it's accented, speak English quite well and answer the questions asked by the hero to the general meaning of that they've seen Golden Eagle around, but don't know who she really is or how to find her. They do offer an order 'to go' (which is strongly emphasized) of whatever Invincible wants -- they want him out of their place of business as quickly as they can manage for the same reason that *most* families are hurriedly leaving.

The Acama family hurries home, which is all of about a block away. Yaretzi separates herself from her parents as quickly as she can, once everyone's home... and less than ten minutes later, Golden Eagle floats down out of the sky to land in front of the place, putting her hands on her hips and ... trying to look stern. If he accepted the offer of the free meal, this'd be about the time that it'd be getting put into Invincible's hands.

Mark Grayson has posed:
Well, this did not go as well as he had hoped! If anything, he's feeling a bit like he's the villain in this case!

"Sorry, sorry..." Invincible manages as he watches people hurriedly leave and scramble off. "...oh my gosh, sorry." he reiterates. He places a cheap order and just overtips with an extra twenty because he feels terrible about what just happened as he takes the bag.

Unwrapping one of the tacos as he steps out, he was just about to put it in his mouth as he finds the exact person that he was looking for.

"Mmf!"

Remember to chew and swallow, Mark! After getting the bite of taco down while causing a shower of lettuce, tomato, shell, beef and cheese. "...oh hey! Was just looking for you."

He may not realize that she may not exactly be happy to see him.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"So I deduced, by your coming here", Golden Eagle says. "How about we go somewhere else, before you drive away all of Rosita's business for the night?", she adds, with a gesture at the mostly-empty, save for a few folks who're snapping pics or taking video with their phones from inside, and outside, the restaurant.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Right right..." Turning, Mark calls out again. "Sorry again! Nothing to see here!" With that, he's lifting into the air and carries his bag up into the sky as he glances back to see if Golden Eagle is following him. Once he's sure she is, he looks around for a spot -- aha!

Moving across the sky, he travels a couple of miles before settling on one of the buttresses of the Brooklyn Bridge and takes a seat to hang his legs over the ledge and look out over Harlem. If she joins him, he opens the bag and takes out one of the foil packets.

"Taco?" he asks. "They're really good."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle follows along, landing on the buttress. "I know. That's my turf over there, remember? I'm the one who suggested Rosita's... I just didn't expect you to turn up and ruin their dinner rush for them like that", she says, sounding, and looking, a bit annoyed. "... and I already ate, too... but thanks", she adds, lifting a hand in a 'stop' sort of gesture, before adding, "... and I recommended the fideo, but their tacos are the bomb, too!" She can't help but grin as she says it.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"I should have probably shown up after the rush." Invincible admits. "Hopefully people will start going back. Anyway, I didn't know any other way to contact you!" he points out, perhaps slightly annoyed himself, but he shakes his head. "Anyway. First things first. You're looking better - so I assume that you can heal pretty fast?" comes the question, concern and curiosity in his voice. "I should have asked the other night, but I didn't want to seem too awkward." With that, he takes another bite of his taco, taking his time to chew and swallow while waiting for her response.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Yeah, I heal pretty quick... but I need down time to do it", is Golden Eagle's reply as she sits herself down, too. "You know... you coulda just flown slowly over the area and let yourself be seen, too", she suggests. "As for getting in touch with me...", she says, pursing her lips for a moment, "... I don't really have any way to make that happen that won't potentially endanger other people I want to keep safe."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"That's understandable. And I wasn't sure how long I would need to buzz Harlem before you showed up and this seemed to be a better way to get your attention?" Invincible responds. "Anyway, sorry for interrupting your night." he manages, starting to wonder if this was all a bad idea. Not the first time he's made a mistake like this. He reaches up and rubs the back of his head. "I assume that this is your area... do you ever travel outside of it?" he decides to broach from another direction. "I don't want to like... know all your secrets and family and stuff, but I was just wondering if you wanted some allies and such."

He gives a sigh and shakes his head. "Spider-Man is probably so much better at this." he muses. "I had a team once upon a time. Most of them have scattered out and gone their own ways. But I know it can be helpful to know people like yourself..."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I sometimes fly out of the area, but this is my place, y'know?", Golden Eagle says. "Those people are the people I grew up with, the people I live with, the people who take care of me and mine. They're all friends, family, neighbors... so I kinda try to take care of my neighborhood -- kinda like a friendly neighboorhood Eagle, I guess?", she quips, borrowing one of Spider-Man's many appellations.

When Invincible mentions allies, she nods. "I've worked with Spidey before, and I've met Shazam, though I haven't -worked- with him, really, as much as I got drawn into a mess he was involved in, once...", she says, before shaking her head as if to stop going off on tangents.

"Allies are always a good thing. What you got in mind?", she asks.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Yeah, Spider-Man is really good about growing a group around him. His neighborhood seems really large these days." Invincible admits with a chuckle, before he adds. "I'm more global, sometimes intergalactic. Dad was an alien, after all." he shrugs his shoulders before he decided to get to the point and turns his attention back to one of the reasons why he came out. "I'm a prospective member for the Teen Titans. With the Teen Team existing really only in name only, I figured I should make sure I have a larger group to be part of the sphere of influence of."

"I was going to feel you out and see if you might want to consider talking to one of the older and more established members or leaders. Not like... I can put in a good word for you, but more, I can let someone know you're interested if you are, you know...." he waves his hand in a circular style shurg.

"...interested. If not, all good. But I know it can be tough trying to go it alone."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle nods her head, listening. "That'd be great, actually! Yeah, I'd love if you put in a good word for me -- only trouble, then, would be them getting hold of me, like you had trouble doing so", she adds. "You're right about it being tough, too... I'm not sure how I'd have handled that lava-thing, the other day, if you hadn't been around to help like you did. Thanks for that, by the way."

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Awesome. Okay. I can totally do that. And so I don't bother the folks at Rosita's or you know, fly around Harlem with a banner saying 'Hey Golden Eagle, need to talk to you!', have you ever considered maybe getting a burner phone or the like? Something that won't attach you to your family. Or we can schedule to meet again in a few days, I should have an answer by then."

When she mentions the lava creature. "You helped me just as much, that water was a much-needed assist." he points out to her. "So thank you as well." he responds as he considers. "And I mean, if we're meeting anyway, in a few days, maybe it could be over a picnic or something?"

Because why not.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I can't really afford something like that", Golden Eagle says, her tone a bit bashful about it. "... and, besides, it'd still be attached to me, and that'd attach it to family", she adds. "You just flying around slow-like, so people can see you -- that should be good enough, in most cases... and, yeah, we can arrange a meetup. If it's on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, though, hasta be after three in the afternoon", she says. That makes it clear -- she's a student, probably college?

Mark Grayson has posed:
Another clue, and with that - there is some give, so he gives back. "The struggle is real. We could do one of those evenings, that's fine." Invincible responds as he nods his head. "The Titans have communicators..." he says thoughtfully. "I may have some still left from my former team at the meetup." A shrug of his shoulders. "So, to tell you a bit about me. Like I said earlier, I'm part alien. Not like any of the Kryptonians, though. Viltrumite. You probably never heard of them. My dad, as far as I know, was the only one. And he hasn't been around for years."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"Uhm... it's hard for me to carry a comm", Golden Eagle says. "They don't... stay with me", she adds, as if not sure how to say it. "See, I turn into Golden Eagle from my 'normal' self. Everything I'm carrying goes away and just comes back when I transform back. If I'm carrying something as Eagle, it... doesn't stay with Eagle. The 'normal' me ends up holding it. I don't know how to make it work another way, if I even *can* make it work another way... probably has to do with magic or stuff like that."

She listens, then, as Invincible talks about himself. "You're right... never heard of 'em, before...", she confirms.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Magic?" Another clue and Invincible nods. "I mean, that's cool! I'm like this well, all the time. But I can unerstand why you feel the need to be secretive." Between the magic and the mention of Shazam, he may have put two and two together.

He pops the rest of the taco into his mouth and finally gets out a sheet of paper. "This is my number. You may not have a communicator, but I do. If you ever need to reach me in an emergency - my mom clearly knows my secret. Otherwise," he moves to push himself to his feet and dusts himself off. "It was really nice seeing you again, Golden Eagle. And I look forward to talking to you again soon."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle takes the paper, folds it, and slides it under one of her gloves along the back of her forearm. "Sure... but when did you wanna do our meetup, then?", she asks, simply floating up from where she sits and into a standing position. Clearly, for her, flying is as much a part of movement as walking is for most people -- that was smooth as silk.

Mark Grayson has posed:
"Let's meet up on Monday?" he suggests as he rises into the air as he floats across from her. Grinning, Invincible adds. "That will at least give me the weekend for someone to get back to me?"
