Heroics at a hole in the wall
Date of Scene: 29 July 2023
Location: Metropolis
Synopsis: Jinx and Golden Eagle meet when a petty thief tries to rob a gyro store
Cast of Characters: Jinx, Yaretzi Acama

Jinx has posed:
"I'll have the steak gyro with chipotle sauce, cheese, and a bottle of water to go thanks." Jinx has made her way to a little hole in the wall off-brand Quiznos style store. There's a fan on that's not doing much to help the heat. Streamers dance from it to prove it's pushing air around. Pushing more hot air around isn't helping.

The chef behind the counter didn't bother with much more than shorts and a singlet. It's not a great look. He grunts and tosses some steaks on to his grill. Somehow this guy seems immune to the heat today.

Jinx flicks open her t-comms and checks the group messages. Nothing particularly exciting going on. Something from Invincible about someone called 'Eagle' and a note that she's been to the tower.

A hand covers her mouth as she yawns, "I was probably asleep." The guy behind the counter grunts and looks over. "Not you, was talking to myself." He shrugs and turns back to the cook top. She flicks over to the map and notices a 'friendly' dot moving closer. Random. She pokes her head out of the door and feels the muzzle of a gun press to her forehead.

Slowly, she backs up, hands raised, as the man with the gun walks in to the store. He motions to the 'chef', "All the money. Now." Clad in a balaclava, Jinx can only think he must be sweating like crazy trying to hide his identity.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle's up in the sky, flying along... on her way to visit the Tower while she's made another excuse to visit Metropolis. Her eyes are good, being as that's one of her actual powers, and she spots a gunman putting a gun to a girl's forehead as he goes into a little hole-in-the-wall food place. Being as she's the one 'on the scene', so to speak, she dives down to the store and, without her feet actually touching the ground at all, literally floats in behind the bad guy... and tries to catch him by surprise.

Darting forward, she gets her hand under his gun-hand and pushes it up to point at the ceiling, so that no innocents are able to be immediately shot. She floats up, as if following the gun, her other hand grasping at the gun, which she intends to simply squeeze to the point that it's broken and/or disabled.

Jinx has posed:
"Hey buddy you know Superman lives around these parts don't you?" Jinx's British accent is different enough to stand out amongst all the Metropolis natives.

The gunman smirks, "The trick is to keep it small, quiet, then the hero types don't take an inter--" And suddenly he is grappled from behind and lifts up in to the air. The gun becoming a crushed mess in his hand.

Jinx raises an eyebrow at this rapid and sudden turn of events. "You were saying?"

The shop owner stops putting money in to a bag and starts putting the money back in to the cash register. Jinx glances back down at her T-com and then back to Eagle. The dots are over each other. "Huh.. so you're the visitor."

The petty criminal gives Eagle a firm elbow to the solarplexes to try to get free of her.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle just... takes the elbow and looks at the guy whose gun is now junk. "You know I crushed your gun because I was trying to keep others safe, right? I'm actually bulletproof, myself... so, if you wanna hurt yourself, keep hitting me. If you don't wanna get hurt, give up, shut up, and sit down until the cops get here", she says to the would-be robber. She did glance back at Jinx for a moment when the girl, who she hasn't yet taken the time to actually look at for more than that glance, spoke to her as if she knows her.

In any case, she also reaches out to grab the 'gunman' by the front of his shirt... and kinda slaps the back of her hand, lightly it seems, against his forehead. It's like hitting a switch -- he's out cold. Apparently, she didn't feel like waiting and giving him a chance to surrender, after all.

The heroine hefts the unconscious criminal into a chair in one corner of the shop and looks over at the man at the register. "Mind calling the police, sir?", she says to him, before turning her eyes back to Jinx -- her facial expression is a very clear one of, "... do I *know* her? Where do I know her from?..."

...and her feet still haven't touched the ground, as she just floats there.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx waggles a hand at the shop owner, "You focus on my steak gyro. I'll handle the cops." Which she does with a couple of touches to the T-com. The Titans have long had a close relationship with law enforcement in Metropolis. Thanks in part to Superman setting the standard so many decades ago.

She flips her T-com shut and puts it back in to her pocket. Arms folded she looks at the way Eagle is hovering. The way she took the elbow. The way she knocked the guy out. "Which version of Supergirl are you meant to be this time?" It seems a logical conclusion.

The store owner isn't sure what's up as he leans to look over at the unconscious guy. He shrugs and goes back to work on the food.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
The heroine in question looks puzzled for a moment, hands going to her hips... and she just casually, like second nature to her, lets her feet touch the ground. "I'm... not any kind of Supergirl. I'm Golden Eagle", she replies to Jinx. It's about a heartbeat later that her eyes widen a bit, and she points at the pink-haired girl. "...and you're Jinx! Sorry! Took me a bit. You haven't been in the news much, other than when you joined the Titans... you *did* join the team, right?", she says, both hands back to her hips as she asks the last question, eyes narrowing a little.

Jinx has posed:
"I haven't been in the news _lately_ ... however I do have a hit new TV show with Harley Quinn called Bounty Babes. You should totally watch it." Jinx smirks as she's recognised by Golden Eagle. "Usually the pink hair is the give away. Can't say I've ever heard of a Golden Eagle before but you seem to have the whooole super flying hero package going on. Supergirl will love you."

She grins a touch though at the question and says, "Depends on whose asking but yeah. I'm a Titan. For better or for worse, this cosmic reality likes to rain down the jokes on me so yuppp.. I live at the tower and I do Titany things with the Titans."

"But calm yourself. If I hadn't joined the Titan's you'd be no match for me any way. I'm trying to be a good person these days.. some days are _very_ trying."

The cook stares mouth agape at the discussion going on between Eagle and Jinx. Then he quickly starts to assemble the gyro.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle shrugs. "Well, you did call the cops... and I do remember seeing something on the news about you joining the team, too", she says. "Sorry... you were one of the bad guys for a long time, is all", she offers, her tone apologetic, so that it's not just words, as if she means it.

She glances at the door of the place, then at the unconscious guy... then at what's left of the mangled gun. She picks up the weapon and sets it on the table in front of the man who bought it in, doing it carefully. "I wonder how long it'll take the cops to show up...", she says, as if talking to herself.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx nods her head, "Yeah... that's me. I have a lot to make up for. But, you know, I'm working on it." She rubs the back of her neck and shrugs her shoulders. "A victim of my upbringing I guess." That's putting it lightly.

As Eagle wonders about the police, Jinx takes out her T-com. She shows its map to Eagle. The cops are just around the corner. The little blue dots moving in quickly. The cruiser pulls up outside the shop and two police officers enter in. They peer at Eagle, Jinx, then at the unconscious guy and the crumpled gun.

Jinx gives them a finger waggle. "Here you go Golden Eagle. Give them the low down on what happened." She on the other hand turns back to the shop keeper as he wraps up the gyro for her. She grins, "Thanks Gav. You're the best." Nom time.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle turns to speak with the police officers, telling them about what she saw and what she did. She indicates Jinx, too, as the person the gunman first threatened with the weapon. They call for an ambulance, too, because of how she describes having knocked the man out, and, even though the handcuffed criminal's conscious by the time the ambulance arrives, he's sent off for a checkup, anyway. Then the police ask her how to reach her if they need more information.

"Uhm...", Golden Eagle says, then glances back at Jinx. "Contact me through the Titans, I guess? They're friends of mine, and I was just in town to visit them at the Tower, anyway...", she says to the officer.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx gives a thumbs up and a nod to the police as Golden Eagle suggests they contact her through the Titans. She has no idea how the Titans will contact Golden Eagle, but surely someone knows how. If not, Robin will figure it out - or Cyborg.

She, meanwhile, has been eating her gyro as Golden Eagle talks with the cops. Once the police, criminal, and ambulance are all gone, she tosses the empty packaging in to the bin. "So... friends with the Titans?" She offers the crook of her arm as she intends to head back outside. "Tell me who?"

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle's feet had lifted off the floor -- she was about to leave when Jinx started talking to her, again. "Uhm... well, I ran into Invincible not long ago, and he convinced that it'd be nice to have friends and allies, so I came to visit and met Caitlin. The next time, she introduced me to Hawkeye... but I haven't had a chance to meet anyone else on the team, yet", she says, then gestures to Jinx herself. "... until today, I guess", she concludes.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx nods her head and looks down at her hovering once more. "You know, not even Supergirl and Superboy hover about quite so much. It gives off the impression you don't want to be here." She chuckles. "But hey those are some people you've met. Hawkeye is awesome - get her to show you her coin tricks."

She may or may not be a particularly bad influence on the young archer. But so long as there's fun it seems Kate is very incorrigible. "I'll let you get back to your.. you said you were coming to visit the tower?" She glances down the loan street heading back toward the island, "I guess I'll see you there when I see you there."

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
Golden Eagle glances down at her feet, and actually looks a little embarassed, even as her feet touch down, again. "I sometimes don't even realize I'm doing that. It's totally second nature and I guess it's as natural as walking or whatnot... for me, anyway", she says. "I... I was just about to go, though, 'cause it all got wrapped up good", she adds, with a gesture to the doorway behind her.

Then Jinx talks about going back to the Tower. "You headed back that way, youself?", she questions.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx nods her head, "Yeah. Part of my tra.. er.. upbringing. Go on long walks. It's good for the body and takes you to random parts of the city where you can find random little food places that probably score really badly on the Healthy-o-meter but actually make some damn fine cuisine in a bun."

She taptaps the side of her head and then shrugs, "So yah. Heading back home." She calls it home now and it's still weird in her mouth. Having a home is still a novel concept for her.

Yaretzi Acama has posed:
"I'm headed that way", Golden Eagle says as she steps towards the door, but she's floating in the air again before she takes a second step. "Want a lift? It'll be way faster than walking", she offers.

Jinx has posed:
Jinx raises an eyebrow. "Well..." She doesn't hesitate for much longer than that. It's not like Supergirl or Superboy have offered her a piggy back ride flying through the air. She hops on, "Golden Eeeeagglleee!"
