Don't wanna be a hat on a hat.
Date of Scene: 01 September 2023
Location: Workshop - Garage
Synopsis: Laura runs into Remy while he is not packing supplies for a jail break. She doesn't recommend any tools of dubious legality and certainly isn't riding on a motorcycle full of bullet holes. Nudge Nudge. Wink wink.
Cast of Characters: Remy LeBeau, Laura Kinney

Remy LeBeau has posed:
It's not terribly often that Remy's found in the garage of the mansion... for one thing, he's not often found at the mansion, and if he is it's usually to visit Rogue, hang about the school being trouble, or use the laundry facilities because the coin-op machine in his apartment building basement are busted. And yet here he is, whistling as he opens drawer after drawer of the large mechanics tool chests along one wall, only to apparently decide the various bits and bobs in each drawer aren't the /right/ bits and bobs, and close one drawer before cataloging the next.

He grumbles under his breath, "Gotta be a crowbar in here /somewhere/... hacksaw? Might be cliche but... it's a prison break, gotta honor the classic cliches..." He lets out a frustrated noise, somewhere near a growl, and moves onto the next drawer, "More wrenches! Swear t'god this thing's nothing but /wrenches/..."

Laura Kinney has posed:
Speaking of people not commonly found at the Mansion. X-23 is, in many ways, a lot like a feral cat that's decided she likes the place. Not enough to stick around all the time. But enough to occasionally stop by and leave a metaphorical dead animal on the doorstep and leave a few claw marks on the furniture.

Are they literal claw marks or metaphorical ones? Who can say.

She does however use the garage from time to time. Because it's easier than keeping a safehouse in New York that has vehicle repair facilities. Cheaper too. When she pulls in with her motorcycle it's making some very unhealthy noises and leaking things which are generally not supposed to leak. Are those leaks caused by bullet holes? It's best not to ask. The rugged motorcycle does at least make it into the Garage area before it splutters and dies. Poor thing.

"I'd personally recommend a halligan bar over a crowbar. It's far more versatile," she notes as she hops off the bike. Shamelessly setting a bad example with neither a helmet or motorcycle leathers on. "I don't think they even use a crowbar for shop class? So you might be looking a long time."

They definitely won't be using a halligan bar for shop class. As they're typically used by fire fighters...

Remy LeBeau has posed:
If anyone's likely to not mind a feral cat suddenly dropping by, or a young woman who can best be described as a feral cat, Remy's certainly near the top of the list. He glances over his shoulder at the sound of pained, tortured motorcycle grinding into the garage.

He offers a wry grin and lifts his hand in a wave, "Duly noted, Ms. Kinney. /Duly/ noted." He nods solemnly and eyes the bike, "Well, I think maybe I /knew/ that, but fruitless searchin's a good outlet for nervous energy that keeps me from disruptin' classes by pacing 'round the mansion."

He eyes the bike again, seach apparently temporarily suspended as he walks over to eye those suspiciously bullet-like holes. "...Traffic a li'l hectic?"

Hey quirks an eyebrow as he eyes Laura... possibly for bullet holes. Then again, she patches up a lot faster than her ride does.

Laura Kinney has posed:
"Gotham traffic is always... hectic yes," Laura says with a nod. "There was a disagreement at one of my providers of financial services. All resolved now. But there were some very heated negotiations before we can to an agreement. Thankfully favourable enough I'll be able to afford to repair my bike."

Helped by using cheap parts at Xavier's....

"What is it you need a crowbar for? Doing a little DIY?" she muses. Heading over and opening some very specific cabinets. It's not her first time borrowing the facilities clearly. "I probably have everything you'd need for... you know..." A cough. "DIY projects the school might not be able to... support."

Does she think Remy is planning a hit? Possibly! It's unlikely Laura is on the list of people who get informed when a member of the X-men is in trouble. Or if she is it's near the bottom with all the other allies who spend more time roaming around doing their own thing.

Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy snorts out and nods solemnly, "Oh, of course. Banking trouble. Makes sense." He heaves out a sigh and shakes his head, "Nah, just... goin' a little stir crazy thinking 'bout Rogue being locked up an'.. okay, probably shouldn't be so focused on doin' something foolhardy to break her out... I mean, she /did/ throw me 'round the room when I tried to stop her from gettin' locked up in the first place but..."

He sighs and shakes his head helplessly, "Th' heart wants what th' heart wants... besides, jailbreak's a little different than just pullin' a heist and I mean... if I don't get up t' /some/ trouble, skills're gonna get rusty."

He glances sidelong and murmurs dryly, "I'll keep y'in mind if I ever need some stuff t'do some freelance work in Gotham... I mean, that's a whole other class o' burglary. I think this whole thing's... breakin' in to some place in Arizona. Probably gonna be some level o' amateur hour, but d'spite rumors to the contrary I can be a bit o' a boyscout..."

He pauses for a moment, "Strictly in the 'always be prepared' motto. Also helpin' old ladies 'cross the street."

He eyes that bike again, "Y'know, I'm pretty sure that's s'posed to /hold/ the gas."

He's so helpful at mechanic stuff.

Laura Kinney has posed:
"Oh in which case you want thermite," Laura says sagely. "Cuts through walls, floors and cell bars. I have a supply pre-mixed if you need some?" Enough for a jail break at the very least. "I can probably obtain a knock out gas and the equipment needed to tap it into the prisons ventilation system too."

The tools and equipment a former world class assassin has on hand aren't all that different from a master thieves tools. Both need to get into highly secure locations without anyone knowing. And then get out with the minimum of attention.

"If it's a prison for holding mutants you'd need to be prepared for zero power use. It's likely they'll have dampening tech on site. Usually hooked up to a back-up generator." She frowns. "If you're actually seriously planning on breaking in I could probably find the plans of the prison for you." Of course using the Outsiders resources to assist with a prison break would be.. risky.

"Yes, yes it is." Another shrug. "Rocks on the road can ping up with a lot of force. Break windscreens and so on."

Remy LeBeau has posed:
Remy grins downright roguishly once more and shakes his head, "Oh, I don't think I need t'borrow your thermite, as generous as the offer is... I mean, these guys locked up Rouge /and/ Magneto, so... I can t'ink of a certain blue troublemaker who's got two real good reasons t'take exception to these folk... an' I think she probably brings her own thermite. Don't wanna be a hat on a hat."

He quirks an eyebrow and tilts his head, "Hey, y'ever wonder if those power dampeners... /only/ work on mutants? Like... what if we get an alien to show up with us sometime?"

His brow furrows and he shoves his hands into his pockets, "Welllll... I'm gonna go make some lunch... letcha... 'borrow' the parts for your poor bike wi'out any witnesses!"

Laura Kinney has posed:
"Personally I find it's rude to turn up to a party without bringing anything," Laura replies with a hint of amusement. "Besides most mutants overly rely upon their powers and never think to pack a bag full of useful gear." Which is why she's got stashes of weapons and equipment all over the world. You never know where you'll need to crash a party.

"Depends on how expensive the gear is. The cheap stuff you'll find in a state prison probably only does mutants. And it depends how an alien has powers... If they just naturally shoot lasers from their eyes? In that case I'd imagine the dampeners do nothing but waste energy. But if they were mutated to shoot lasers? Maybe they work."

There's a little wave of her hand. "If you're breaking into SHIELD? Assume they can turn off anything you bring and plan accordingly."

She nods as Remy moves to leave.

"If you don't see me removing bullets then maybe they were just 'speed holes'." See Laura can make jokes! Even if they are twenty or so years old..
