Rooftops, Arrows, and Capes
Date of Scene: 09 September 2023
Location: Westside - Queensland Park
Synopsis: Supergirl comes across Red Arrow on a rooftop patrol. They have a very awkward interaction.
Cast of Characters: Connor Hawke, Kara Danvers

Connor Hawke has posed:
Night has fallen over the streets of Metropolis.

Yet, those who wear the S on their chest are not the only ones who patrol the heavens or the earth this night. As the stars shine so brightly in the night sky, a man in black runs across rooftops with a bow in his hand. The people sleep tightly. Sleep so comfortably. It's only right that someone looks after the little guy.

Eventually, the figure comes to a stop on one of the taller buildings, taking an earpiece and placing it where it belongs as police radio chatter echoes in his senses: currently, no danger. Small misdemeanors, petty theft, but nothing that's outside of police control at this point.

Gotta let Metropolis's finest do their jobs, sometimes.

But as he stands there in faint light, more features become apparent: A black suit of no doubt highly-protective and durable material covers his entire body. Accents of red mark the feathers of his otherwise black arrows. Red marks the normally white film of the domino mask that covers his eyes. A black hood hangs over his head as gloves grip his bow tightly.

Red Arrow hunts tonight.

Yet, he listens as it may. Metropolis has many wonders. One of them might be discovered.

Kara Danvers has posed:
Metropolis' finest are fine indeed and they can handle most anything thanks to the resident heroes keeping the bigger threats at bay. So Supergirl is not out on the prowl this night... She's out for a flight. Enjoying the night air as it flutters her golden hair back away from her face. She's not reached subsonic, rather enjoying the brush of wind that accompanies a modest speed while passing over the roofs of buildings she could recount by number, if not by name.

Owen has had her watching the Count of Monte Cristo, as it turns out.

The familiar words of the movie play over in her mind and bring an easy smile to her face. One that wans only slightly seeing someone clad almost exclusively in black protective material. It is without a doubt one of the countless vigilantes, but it bares investigation all the same. So it is that Kara swoops down, turning her forward moment in the direction of the Red Arrow's perch and takes up a hovering position several feet above him with her arms laid across her chest.

One tall red boot elevated, the other extended down beneath her as she shrinks towards the hard surface of the rooftop, "Is this a flare for the dramatics situation or should I be alarmed?"

Connor Hawke has posed:
'Is this a flare for the dramatics or should I be alarmed?'

Red Arrow doesn't have super hearing ability. He doesn't have that Kryptonian ability that lets him be firmly aware of breathing, of heart beats, of who is stepping closer without due notice. As soon as he hears the sound of her voice, Red Arrow immediately draws an arrow from his quiver and directs it right at Supergirl, narrowing his eyes at the flying Kryptonian.

He focuses his attention on her momentarily before he notices the 'S' on her chest. "Enjoying the evening?" He asks her with a serious look on his face.

"No need for your alarm. Patrolling."

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara watches the arrow knocking and pulling in a slide show. It's far faster than most humans could move, for sure, but it doesn't change the facts of the matter... Supergirl is... well... she's faster than a speeding bullet, so they say. Blue eyes stay fixed on Connor and the smile never wavers.

It's not as condescending as it could be.

Instead she lands upon the rooftop with her arms still laid beneath her breasts.

"I am." Enjoying the evening.

"I am not." Alarmed.

If she were in Gotham, perhaps, there, she'd be on high alerts. There's a notoriety about that place that could terrify even a Kryptonian. But in Metropolis? Anything that would alarm her is absolutely earth shaking in magnitude. Or really really sneaky... or bad puns. Those can kill anyone.

"How is patrol going?" Her voice has a distinct accent that is unfamiliar to anyone unfamiliar to Kryptonian accents. But for brevity, it sounds Swedish.

Connor Hawke has posed:
Somethings you just can't prevent.

A human against a Kryptonian is long odds. The Kryptonian has every advantage imagineable, the speed is one of the bigger ones. If it was just super strength and durability? THis would be a lot easier. Problem is though, as soon as Red Arrow looses his arrow, Kara could catch it as soon as it starts moving forward on the string.

Slowly, with her answer to each thing, the evening and the alarming, he puts his arrow back in the quiver and he moves his bow into a rest position. Either he's well aware he's not winning any kind of fight against her or he'd just rather not. Or he has a plan.

Pick A, B, or C.

"Quietly. Best you can ask for. I'd rather not will a crime to happen to good people." He tilts his head. "Nice accent." He comments before he turns back to the neighborhood. "Patrolling or flying?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
"Flying." Supergirl answers his question first.

Her mind has gone past any notions of fighting. Most sane people don't push the issue when a Kryptonian shows up. It's rarely a matter of 'can they win' and more one of 'can they finish what they're doing before one shows up'. They're the nuclear option. Which is why she lets the Metropolis finest handle the smaller tasks.

Why bring an actual raygun to a mugging right?

Her smile remains all the same. Not plastic or dismissive, but genuine. Almost friendly. "You know you just ruined it by calling it quiet right? I know enough magicians to know that mentioning certain words are the testimount of uttering magical incantations to summon trouble... quiet being one of them." She tsks and shakes her head.

"Thanks. I came by it honestly." Her accent.

Connor Hawke has posed:
"Must be nice."

Because normal humans can't fly on their own. They get by with a good jet or rocket boots or some other kind of tool that can never hope to outrace a Kryptonian. Connor knows this. He knows people who can fly just fine. All he's got in this life is a bow and a few good arrows. Maybe one day an arrow can give a Kryptonian trouble. Or even better, one day he'll work together with one. He smirks at her for a moment when she claims he's ruined the good luck he's found tonight.

"Well, I'm not one for luck. I know magic. Grew up in a monastary. Can't use it worth a damn, but...I feel as though if words could stop evil before it rises...well-" He shakes his head.

"I would hope so. Can't say I have an accent to charm." He smiles faintly. "So...what do we talk about?" He asks her softly. "Save any lives today?"

Kara Danvers has posed:
Kara is a patient woman to be sure. She stands there standing just aboe five feet looking unassuming as a bean pole, despite the fact that she is, in fact, one of the most powerful things on Earth. One would be hard pressed to prove it by her demeanor, which is outwardly friendly, even borderline jovial.

"Words are fundamental to all magic, from my experience with it, but I'll differ to your superior expertise on the matter." Unfolding her hands to motion abstract in his direction.

"The weather is nice?" As far as what they talk about. Regarding, however, her number of lives saved today. "Few. Someone beat me to a volcano earlier... There was an Earthquake, I saved a car. It was uneventful, all things considered. Have you?"
