Location: SoHo
Synopsis: Balm and the Green Lantern chill in a quiet SoHo night
Cast of Characters: Phoebe Beacon, Kyle Rayner

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
SoHo in the Rain reminded Phoebe Beacon strongly of Gotham City's vibrant downtown areas, the places where you could almost see the city as getting better -- as long as there wasn't a trash strike going on. It's vibrant, artsy, and really the type of place she would have liked to hang out --

IF she wasn't on patrol for 'The Weird Stuff' on a summer afternoon.

So, Phoebe was in her Balm armor, gray hood, simple gray domino with blue lenses, and simple designed (Red Robin created) gray bat-like armor, sans the cape.

She had been rooftop hopping, trying to get a better 'read' in the area before heading to the more touristy Times Square, where it was more likely for the disgraced former leader of the JLD to be noticed by up-turned faces looking at the advertisements and glitz and glam of the most famous intersection in the world.

But even superheroes need a water break -- and she was crouched down on a rooftop, in the shade of an access shed, and downing water from a handy dandy bat-water-bottle and eating a specially prepared sandwich.

Kyle Rayner has posed:
Kyle Rayner's doing patrols. Green energy follows in his wake. The hero is looking from up high. If anyone has been around for a while they would know what that streak in the sky mans.

While he cannot be stealthy at these distances, it is a sign that someone is out there.

Looking over everything from the vantage point. He's still getting used to it. So, at some points the lantern will slow down a bit. Then he will pick up after a good push. All someone needs to do is flag him down, or do something to catch his attention.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
Well, well, well. Green streak speeds by -- Kyle the Lantern.

And if you understand that reference, NERD.

Balm pauses in the consumption of her sandwich, and looks up to the skyw here the green streak flies on by, and she gives a slight smile, then tucks her sandwich back into its pouch, and she lifts a hand to the communication array in her hood.

    >>Up in the sky, look! It's a bird it's a plane it's -- Ion, right?<< she asks over the comm system.

Kyle Rayner has posed:
There's a pause for a moment. Kyle clearly looks around. He will chime in that sequel <<Technically a Green Lantern, but a lot of people expect someone else at the moment. I needed somethng to show, 'Yes, I'm a Green Lantern. I'm just not the Green Lantern you think I am. Also, you can't just say 'Green Lantern' when a bunch of us are around. So, it's either numbers or call signs. I settled on a call sign.>> His attention looks about just trying to get the person in his ear. <<Aren't you're the magical user I got a god look at?>> And that's all t mght have been. Kyle recognzes the voice, but he ddn't see a lot of his colleagues due to strikng frrom under the sea.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
<Balm. Pleasure to meet your aquaintence.>> comes the amused response. <If it's all the same, you're the first Green Lantern I've really met. So I wouldn't know which of you to expect. I've met four Robins though. THAT gets confusing.> she merrily tacks on, and she puts her gloved pinkies to her mouth and gives a sharp whistle from the rooftop, and gives a wave.

<Sorry to interrupt your patrol. I don't typically see others first. So exciting.> her voice has a wry note to it.

Kyle Rayner has posed:
<<Same thing. Less Feathers.>> Kyle lowers down onto a roof top. Then he waits for Balm to join him. Those green eyes focus on the area as he waits to see if Balm will show herself. <<So, what brings you out here because my masked face? Has to be more than that.>>

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Curiosity, mostly. And the Robins--" Balm steps off an airconditioning unit, rolls, and straightens herself up "... are *so* much more different than the Laterns from what I've seen." she offers as another joke, crossing her arms as she cracks a rare smile.

"New York part of your normal patrol route?"

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Lanterns shed as badly as birds. Drawbacks and all that," Kyle jokes and crosses his own arms. "I'm still figurng out my own routes. I can't stay in the other lantern's patterns because I'm not him. A lot of heroes and people miss the guy. i want to give them hope, but hope in the lanterns. Not nope that a particular one is back," it's a weird line to stradle. It's just something he has to figure out. "What brings you to NY?"

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I can relate. I work in Gotham City. I'm weirdly in the business of giving Hope." Balm replies.

"I do a route through NYC every so often. It's a happening place for the supernatural. Hear there's a couple of weird houses in The Village and the East Village." she replies with a small shrug of her shoulders.

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Trying to find your place? Or just looking to stretch the legs?" Kyle asks as he's genuinely curious. Obvously, he's the former. Just trying to figure out Balm's game.

"What kind of weird homes are you looking for?" he asks curiously. "Normal weird or supnatural weird?" he asks for clarification.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"... ah... most of the supernatural types have made their thoughts on where my place is clear. Working with the Bats is rewarding, and sometimes I even get to set a guy in a snake costume on fire."

"And by that I mean the Sanctum Sanctorum, where Doctor Strange hangs, and then there's a magic shop my friend Badger works at is all. Gotham's my home turf." Balm explains, and she looks out over the city. "New York's a close second, though. Especially Hell's Kitchen. Now THAT place was cookin' at one point -- demonically possessed washing machines at the Happy Bubble."

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Where do they say you should be?" Kyle obviously missed that meeting. Honestly, he'll probably miss all of those meetings due to the lack of magic.

"Well, everyone knows of the sanctum. I can't say I've ever been," Kyle smiles and looks toward the city. "I've been in Europe for a while. Care to catch a guy up?" he asks. Everything about what she mentioned isn't quite lost on him. However, these bits of new are minor blips in Europe. So, unless it made major major waves, Kyle missed out.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Hell, probably." Balm gives a small 'what-can-ya-do' shrug. "Gotham's close enough."

And she gives a small smile, "I'm the wrong person to ask if you're looking for the supernatural happs. Like I said, I mostly stick to Gotham. Having the Flash, the Green Arrow and a Green Lantern there was the most exciting thing this Balm's seen for a while. Glad Silverdane came out of it all right." she considers.

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Why there?" oh, that just gives Kyle more questions. Everything about that answer just leaves curiousity for him. When a comment like that comes out, there's a literal connotation that comes from it. Like they actually want her to go to Hell.

"I'm not a big supernatural guy. My realm is Science and Aliens and lots of not so magical things. It's great that it exists, but not my realm," he speaks candidly.

"Like I'm the guy that could show you actual Martians. If they were in numbers. They have some history," t's complicated and wars are rumoed to be about.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Oh, I know a couple Martians, actually. One of them was a roommate briefly." Balm replies with the utmost ernesty in her voice as she breathes out a word, and then just, crosses her legs and sits, hovering in the air, a little windiness about her hood. "My best friend's a Science and Numbers guy, I get it. It's good to have friends from all the different circles in Superherodom, so you've got a well-rounded group of people to bail you out when you get over your head." she gives a bright grin of her matte black lips and then just -- pulls her sandwich from her backpack again. "Martian Manhunter is really intimidating though. I'd hate to be on his bad side."

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"There's a few different rumors about martian wars," he knows some of them have different stories. Or something about how the war happened. He didn't awnt to get into that.

Kyle sighs, "I'm still trying to make those. I've been away for so long, it doesn't feel like Day One in a some ways. Other Days, it's completely and utterly Day One," it almost hurts to admit that. "Who was the roommate, if you c ans hare," he knwos some people have every right to be secretive.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"I never asked. My Xenohistory's kinda trash, my strong suite is detection and dismissal of magical entities and healing." she gives a one-handed finger-gun "So if you ever hit a demonic possession or need someone woken up from a curse, I'm your girl. Ask Troia."

And then she gives a small simle. "You're asking a Gotham hero to give up an ID. That's risky. /Really/ risky."

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"So one of my teamm leads gives her seal of approval. Good to know," he says with a grin. That s useful knowledge to hold in the back pocket.

"I said 'if you can share.' I realized the risk just asking. And it's why I didn't expect you to say who it is. Some Martians may be openly to their identities. Every culture is different about identities, who they are, everythng," Kyle knows verything. "It's why I asked. So many cultures out there. Some are a lot like the heroes that don't use identities. I don't know how they do it, but they do. Because their homes are so are away, some don't hide when they're in foreign space."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"So you're on the Titans. Assumptive of me, but you seem a little too much man for the Amazons." she gives a wry smile. There's no mean spirited notion about her, not when she's not in a dangerous situation. She was a LITTLE Snark on the line regarding Green Arrow after all.

"And that makes sense. There's as many reasons for hiding your identity as there are heroes who do it. I prefer to keep mine on the downlow. No one likes it when I bring home stray bad guys." she jokes, "Tends to make a mess of things."

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Hey! Neither you nor i know this for a fact. I haven't dated an amazon yet. So until one breaks me with a handshake, I die by Snu Snu or survve both, we'll never know," Kyle smirks as he totally said that. Thinking she would probably get the reference. "But yeah. I'm a Titan," he says just pointing out that Balm isn't wrong. She's just totally being presumptive and he could possibly survve an amazon.

"I do, too. It's why I don't understand the public ones. get why they do it, but thought there would be a lot of risks," that's just how he sees it.

"So, besides amazons, magc, Gotham, what other other pies do you have your fngers in? Just curious if your people know my people. Like six degrees of Kevn Bacon wth friends."

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Yeah, I haven't been really welcomed by Amazons for a long while, except Diana, but if there ever were a welcoming to all sorts, it would be her." she reflects, though her expression goes a little flat at the mention of Snu Snu. She gets the reference.

"Well, considering I know Troia, Nightwing, Impulse, Batwing, Vorpal, Fairchild, Scarlet Spider, Red Hood, Red Robin, Wonder Girl, Fairchild -- I mean obviously I know some of your people." Balm points out, "just not many Green Lanterns."

Kyle Rayner has posed:
"Yeah. You know a couple of them. Like maybe one, or two," Kyle says with a smirk. Yeah, she knows a few of his people to say the least. "Alrght. I'll be seeing more of you then?" he chuckles. Now, he half expects Balm to be in the main room on a movie night.

Phoebe Beacon has posed:
"Not at the Tower, I don't get invited out that way. And besides, if they're all at movie night, who's going to respond to a bomb in Greenland?" Balm asks with a wry smile.
