Too Nice a Place
Date of Scene: 18 September 2023
Location: Jonah's Place (Bar and Grill)
Synopsis: A bar is too classy a place for a fight. And for M to run her mouth.
Cast of Characters: Monet St. Croix, River Banks, Joshua Foley

Monet St. Croix has posed:
It is a lovely evening. A classy place. One that was high class. The type of place that the well to do went to, but also the well connected and knwoledgable went to. A place of history, power, and memory. The type of place where one went to be thoughtful, appreciate the atmosphere, and talk wtih old contacts over events both past and current. It was not the type of place that tolerated the riff-raff. Or so Monet had assumed.
She was there, generally appreciating herself and a place that catered to those of ~her~ social class when entering in would be a tall woman with fire engine red hair. A big, big woman.
    A She-Hulk big woman.

River Banks has posed:
Admittedly, it was not River's type of place. Her normal places were honky-tonks with room for line dancing, cheap whiskey and beer by the pitcher and generally men whose mommas never told them 'no' so they think 'no thanks' means convince me and 'get lost' means 'take me I'm yours <3'. And MAN has she broken a lot of noses in places like that.

This time? She's wearing dark wash jeans that give the best appearance to her ass, a pair of well-kept cowboy boots with thistle stitched into the outsides, and a pink top that was cute, but is completely machine-washable because no one in her tax bracket has time for 'dryclean only'.

The strawberry blonde lady slips in on the arm of a well-to-do looking gentleman, who was playing 'poor guy' for the evening, which means he drove himself in his porche because he gave his driver the night off to polish the Bently.

Also not her type, but he was payiing her to be the model on his arm.

Joshua Foley has posed:
Joshua Foley has been trying his best to try new things, to get out and explore. Nettie had it in him to spread his wings, learn about stuff he wanted to know and gather experiences. After checking his phone to make sure he was not breaking the 9:30 curfew of the restaurant, he makes his way in.

And he's been trying to adjust his wardrobe to try to get used to or at least coordinate with the secondary mutation that has taken root in his body. A black polo shirt with a white undershirt is beneath a dark grey and black flannel jacket. Black jeans with chains off the right pocket lead down to grey chucks. Very much skater chic.

The real star though is his exposed skin. The same color of pure 24 karat gold, blonde hair caps his head, but every inch of exposed skin is that same brilliant golden color. After finding himself at the bar, he reaches for the menu to peruse it, all the while ordering a soda.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Also the cost might be an issue - hopefully Nettie was helping him with that. If you knew enough people to get in, you had to be able to afford the type of things that one had to wear in! Then again, if you could go in being able to afford the types of things that you were supposed to wear in wasn't a major issue - for most.

As the big, big red haired woman comes on in, Monet goes to glower over at her and then speaks. "YOur kind isn't wanted here." Even as the big, big red haired woman slowly walks towards her, the ground shaking from her stomps.

River Banks has posed:
"... what's she mean 'yer kind'?" River asks her date quietly, who gives a struggling answer, and then adds in a soft, questioning tone: "... mutants?"

Because surely no woman could be THAT muscular without it being a 'genetic thing'!

RIver was not satisfied with the answer, and she looks over to Monet.

"Hey, ma'am," she asks, giving a chin-tip upward. "What d'ya'll mean by 'your kind'? 'Cause I figured flash enough cash an' that's good enough, right? After all..." she looks Monet up an down.

"You might have cash,  but some'ov y'allcan't buy class if they sold it in buckets."

Joshua Foley has posed:
Let's be fair. Joshua can probably only afford an appetizer. Or a dessert. But it's about the experience. Then when he sees Monet rise, he watches her. Wow, she's a stunner. Probably totally out of his league. But a friend had told him to take the shot when he can, or he'll miss out.

And just as he was about to buy Monet a drink, she speaks up.

And it sounds so familiar. So terribly familiar. It's words he had said when he thought he was normal. When he followed his best friend into the Reavers.

And reeally if mutants aren't allowed here, he's the one that is standing out like a giant golden thumb. He almost reaches for his hood to pull it up over his head, but instead, he twists in his hair.

However, hefore he can say anythuing, River is speaking up and Joshua quickly and wisely focuses on drinking his soda.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
M is a piece of work, of course. More of a headcase. She would glance over at River, "I meant without" right as Mary Macpherran towers over her.

That has Mary reaching a hand forwards. "So yer dumb enough to say that and -think- that yer in the right?"

M goes to glower at River and then look smugly at Mary, "Of course I'm right." That's probably the cue for River and Joshua to go to hunker positions.

Mary Macpherran's hand slams up, grabbing Monet with a fist that was grappling her entire face. "Then SHOVE IT!" Ensuing is several hard SLAMS onto the floor of M's face to it, making a large, bludgeon'y impact crater.

River Banks has posed:
"Yeah, that's not a classy thing ta do." River mutters to herself, and she was getting ready to deliver another quip when Titania decides to take matters into her own musclar, capable hands, and then smashes Money into the floor.

She takes a hop back with a 'Holy Cats!' tumbling out of her mouth, until someone who decides that a girl with a southern accent is also not classy enough to be in the establishment and pulls her hair back.

She immediately turns, grabbing the person who grabbed her by the shirt, and lifts up and smashes him into the bar, knocking over several drinks and a bottle in the process!

    "Hands off buddy!"

Joshua Foley has posed:
As the cat fight starts to turn into a cat brawl, Joshua suddenly realizes that he has picked the wrong night to be here. And he is no hurry to get mixed up in the whole thing that is happening with Monet, Mary, River, and their mystery guest.

He starts to back away from the fight, not exactly in any hurry to get involved in a fight with someone who looks like she chucks busses for fun and profit, the hottie that is tanking it, and ... whatever is going on with River and the person attacking her.

The back corner is found and he loads up on soda. He has a feeling he's going to be needed soon.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
THere are many, many brutal slams over of M's face to the floor by Titania. "I said I would SHOVE it. We're gonna work you on down, you classy girl. DOWN SIX FEET!" Another SLAM goes hard.

Ducking over in the corner with Joshua is a blonde. "Come here often?" She would quip. "You look like you know your duck and cover routine." Her name was Millie, she looked like she was a model.

River goes to start up with the bar fu fighting, even as everyone else seems to be getting into the spirit of things! A fine, old, reputable establishment such as this could take far harsher things.

River Banks has posed:
With the person who thought to kick River out currently face down on the top of the bar, River turns to Monet and Titania.

"All right Ma'am, think maybe the floor needs a break --" she states, and River very carlmly moves s everal peoples' water glasses worth of water (stolen, anturally, from the water glass) to form a shield over Monet to give her a minute to breathe.

Joshua Foley has posed:
Joshua is keeping a close eye on the fights. While Titania seems to be working Monet over like a cheap cut of steak, she's not showing injury, which furrows the mutant's brow. Apparently she can hanldle it.

And then when River joins in to help, Joshua starts to visible relaxed. That is until he's joined with a modelesque blonde. "Someone told me if you can't contribute, stay outta the way." he responds to the woman with a wan smile.

Lifting his near empty soda glass in greeting, he offers up an introduction. "Joshua. Nice to meet you. Hopefully this will blow over soon. And it will all be over but the checks for damages."

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Well, Monet's too arrogant to admit that she's in over her head. Then again, admittance of a problem is the first step towards resolving it. Unfortunately for her face, the floor seems more than capable of taking the damage. THe ground underneath..

The shield goes to take the blow from Titania. "You heard what she called me. That $##!*. No one calls me THAT." Titania goes to hold back her punch, however. Which gives her more common sense than M has.

Millie would nod over at Joshua, "Millie Collins, pleasure to meet you Joshua." Offering her hand over for him to shake.

River Banks has posed:
The shield takes the blow, and then drops and gets M' all wet.

"Good point, not my business, carry on ma'am." she states, giving a wave, and meandering her way back over to her date.

Who now seems horrified that she was able to make a shield outta water!

Joshua Foley has posed:
Accepting the offered hand, Joshua smiles. "Joshua Foley, since we're on a last name basis." he offers with a chuckle as he sets aside his glass after he takes one last drink from it.

"Do you come here often?" he asks of Millie. "Just more out of curiosity than anything, if this is a common occurence?" If he followed the modeling scene, he'd know she's an associate of the Mary Jane Watson.

With there seeming to be a moment of a break in the action, Joshua pipes up a little. "Can we take a breather here and sort this out without sending the restaurant into a two week hiatus to repair the damage done?" Though he is impressed at River's creation of a water shield. That's a pretty cool power! And as if Monet's makeup wasn't already smudged. It probably isn't.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
There's a THUMP as M's head is let smash on down. The bartender goes over to her. "Now Miss, you'll have to cover damages for here." He goes to quote a very, very high price - that was more than Josh or River would make in a very, very long time.

Monet would groan from the ground, not hurt. "And you'll not be allowed in here again for violating etiquette. We have strict rules for entry and association that you have violated. You are not welcome in this establishment any further. Good day, see yourself out."

A smattering of applause goes through the room as Millie would look to JOshua, "Here, no. First time. I'm honestly not sure anywhere manages to avoid it."

River Banks has posed:
".. an' just like that." River states, her fingers curling around her little cheap, second-hand black clutch.

"Well." she turns to her date, who looks mildly inconenienced that he has to lose out on a deposit on a model, who he wasn't aware could bar fight.

"Stand by it. Can't buy class." she states, giving a chin up to the bartender. "Only a new tax bracket."

Joshua Foley has posed:
Unfortunately for Monet, Joshua can only heal organics, not building materials. Turning his attention to Millie, he gives a nod of his head. "Especially considering my usual haunts." he admits as he gets to his feet. "Well, I have appreciated cowering with you, Millie. But it appears the worst is over."

He takes out his wallet, paying for a way overpriced soda and a small tip for the bartender. Offering a blonde a hand up, he smiles. "I hope the rest of your night goes better than this."

Then his attention turns to the rest of the establishment at large, just to make sure there's no injured. Once he's sure, he'll start making his way out. Shake and Shack may be the safer option.

He /does/ stop, turning his attention to Monet. "You are okay?" he asks. Without thinking about it, he feels out for her life force, just to make sure.

Monet St. Croix has posed:
Ther'es a loud groan from Monet over as she's somehow 'handled' without having much say int he matter. Perhpas the bartender had powers. Perhpas she'd made enough of a spectacle of herself already. Perhaps this was already humiliating enough without adding to it with a rant from her. A quick 'we're very disappointed in you' expression is sent her way from all the regular patrons and workers as Monet slowly stumbles on outside, looking like she went into a bral with the wall and the wall came out the better for it.

Outside, there's a loud 'HA HA' that somehow seems to fit the circumstances exactly.
